Statesman Pageant was
held Saturday night and saw Strom Thurmond Junior Ainsley Ellis taking
the title and the overall crown and title for Most Photogenic. The
“Pathway to Stars” theme kicked off at 7 pm and brought the beauties of
Strom Thurmond onto the stage in a Sportswear competition divided
between each class - Freshman to Senior - followed by an evening gown
competition. After a brief intermission Emcees Heather Hanna and Haley Pope announced the finalists in the four divisions. The Fresman Finalists were Joree Arangilan, Lydia Dorn, and Brittany Wright; Sophomores Finalists were Danielle Britt, Reona Broadwater, and Taylor Weiss; Junior Finalists Brandi Cadiere, Ainsley Ellis, and Elizabeth Lynn; and Senior Finalists Erin Armstrong, Caquisha Burton, and Kara Timmerman. Each finalist was then asked a question as a part of the Interview judging segment. After the scores were tabulated the long awaited awards presentation followed with the announcement of the new Queens.
