HOSA Students Attend Fall Leadership

COUNTY – The STCC Health Occupations Students attended the State Fall Leadership Conference on October 19th. The Honorable U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson, 2nd District of South Carolina, opened the day’s activities with an address to the students participating.

HOSA students selected from a variety of break-out sessions to learn more about Job Seeking Skills, Sports Medicine, Career Health Display, Community Awareness, Biomedical Debate, Speaking Events, Medical Assisting Clinical, Barbara James Service Award, Newberry College Forensic Sciences and Future Nursing Programs. All students attended a session on “Autism Speaks”, which is the national service project of HOSA.

Featured speak of the conference was Ms. Alyce Kemp-Dewitt who delivered a topic on “Turn Stressed into Desserts”.

Local STCC students attending were: Byron Mathis, Fernanda Pineda, Hannah Purcell, Ashton Johnson, Ronnell Hill, Ceteria Key and Marlo Brown. Advisors for the HOSA organization are Mrs. Robin Herrin and Mrs. Dianna Wintrow.
