Rebel Regiment Takes First Ever AA State Championship

JOHNSTON – The Strom Thurmond High School
Rebel Regiment is the 2012 SCBDA AA State Champions. They received a
Superior rating for their performance Saturday, Oct 27 at Spring Valley
High School in Columbia and then took the title. The AA contest
consisted of 16 Schools from all across the state. The show, entitled
“Double Agent,” was performed again on Saturday. The Rebel Regiment won
their first ever state title in school history.

The Rebel band scored 91.125 points and took honors for high overall
effort and high visual effect in addition to a superior rating.
Edgefield County School Superintendent Greg Anderson said he was very
proud of the students for bringing this title home to Edgefield County.
Anderson said that the Rebel Regiment won the lower state title this
year and in 2005, the same year the Rebel Football team won the state
title. "This is the first time we ever won the state title by the
band," Anderson said.
"They really put on a show," Anderson said. He gave credit to the
students for their hard work, the supporting parents, boosters, and
Director Van Clark and his staff.
The band directors are Van Clark, Justin Craig and Dave Hill.
Colorguard Instructors are Tevin Middleton and Candance Craig.
Colorguard Coreorgraphers are Jonathon Colvin and Tevin Middleton
The Percussion instructors are Brian Turner and Tim Altman.
Music arrangers are Matthew Smith and Jason Frith.
Drill Writer is Jeffrey Fackler
Drum Majors are Stephan Bowe and Keylondria Crouch.
The Band Captain is Nic Hoffmann
Sarah Brown is Marching Instructor
