Two Federal Prison employees involved in single car crash

web posted Apri 20, 2006

SWEETWATER – A single truck crash stalled traffic on Sweetwater Road for a little over an hour Wednesday afternoon. The driver stated a deer ran out and while trying to avoid hitting the deer he lost control of the blue F-150 Ford pickup and rolled it several times ejecting the passenger in the process.

The truck skidded 100 yards before landing on its side against a pine tree. The driver was still in the truck as the first people arrived on the scene. The passenger was walking around with cuts and obvious bruising saying he landed on his feet as the truck continued to roll.

Merriwether Fire First Responders and Edgefield County EMS arrived on the scene and treated both occupants. The passenger in the truck was placed on a spine board and transported to MCG for treatment of his injuries. The driver refused treatment on the scene but was taken by a friend to be checked.

Both men were employees of the Federal Prison System in Edgefield.
