Woman arrested after discovery of dead infant web posted June 26, 2006 SWEETWATER – The grizzly discovery of a dead newborn infant Saturday afternoon has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Edgefield County woman. Tomecca Jackson, of 502 Frances Street, was taken into custody and is being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center in relation to the case. According to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, the case is still under investigation. The remains were found under the home the woman shared with her parents on Frances Street. An autopsy will be performed today in Newberry at 10:00 am. Ms. Jackson is currently being held on a custody order and formal charges will be filed after the results of the autopsy are completed. Corporal Robbie Harter of the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office said due to the ongoing investigation details of the discovery were not being released at this time.
