New Speed Limits for Sweetwater Road

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted August 11, 2005

Traffic on Sweetwater Road just got slower

SWEETWATER - The South Carolina Department of Transportation began replacing all the signs on Sweetwater Road, including speed limits which were reduced to 50 mph coming from Edgefield and lower still from Republican Road south which is now 45 mph.

Many of the stop sings were being replaced with larger signs and red reflective strips were added to the posts. After that work is finished SC DOT will begin a road widening project within the next few months along the roadway.

Other projects are slated to be made shortly for Briggs Road and Woodlawn Road but officials in the Edgefield Office would not elaborate specifically on what work would be done.

Remember to adjust your speed for Sweetwater Road and plan to leave home several minutes earlier. South Carolina’s finest, the Highway Patrol, will no doubt be more than willing to remind you of the new speed limits along with directions to Magistrate Court.
