Business owner reports $20,000 in damages to building and RV

web posted December 28, 2006

SWEETWATER – A business owner contacted the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office to report someone breaking into his business and damaging the building and a recreational vehicle parked next to the business Friday afternoon. Damages to the building and the RV were estimated beyond $20,000.

When the first deputy arrived at the business, located on the 1400 block of Edgefield Road (Hyw 25) damages were observed to the RV and inside the building. Inside the building was “a large amount of damage throughout the building,” including spray painting on the walls and property damaged as well.

When deputies and an investigator surveyed the damage to the RV they found windows broken out and heavy damage to the interior estimated in excess of $10,000. Also missing was a 20-gauge nickel-plated Berretta shotgun.

The scene was processed and evidence and photographs were collected. The case is currently still under investigation.
