Town of Edgefield drops lawsuit over
theater property Edgefielddaily.com web posted May 3, 2005 The Town of Edgefield has dropped the suit they brought against Dr. Walter Mims in connection to the property condemned in order to make way for a theater project pitched by developer Bettis Rainsford. Court house sources close to the suit said the town offered a settlement that the Town of Edgefield would drop its suit against Mims and pay his legal fees thus far. That was refused they said, and the suit was just dropped. Asked whether this was the end of the legal mêlée they replied, “I very seriously doubt it. There are still issues yet to be resolved, and I don’t see that taking place at the table,” they said, inferring there were further legal ramifications to the attempted confiscation of property through condemnation and emanate domain to further private investment projects. Attempts to reach both parties for comment at this writing have been unsuccessful. The case number is 2004CP1900132, Town of Edgefield (Greg W Anderson atty) v.
