Crash brings traffic to a halt near Trenton
web posted February 22, 2006

TRENTON – A woman traveling south on Highway 121 from Johnston towards Trenton around 2:40 pm Tuesday said a knob fell off her air conditioner. When she reached down to pick it up off the floorboard, she took her eyes off the road. As she looked up, she said she was heading towards the ditch and she tried to steer the jeep back onto the road.

“I must have overcorrected,” the woman said. She lost control of the Jeep and it overturned and landed on its side and slid more than fifty yards coming to a stop in the northbound lane. The woman suffered only minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. The woman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash tied up traffic on the Highway 121 between Johnston and Trenton for about an hour. Edgefield County Deputies assisted the Highway Patrol with traffic control, with traffic reduced to one lane until the scene could be cleared. The woman’s husband and parents arrived on the scene a short time after the crash.
