TRENTON – A horrific crash took place on Highway 25 near Greenhouse Road around midnight Friday that claimed the life of a Trenton man. According to reports from the scene, a man was driving a white Ford Escort station wagon south on Highway 25 when he ran off the road and over corrected and swerved into the northbound lane where he was hit broadside by a tractor-trailer truck. The driver of the car was killed instantly on impact.

Coroner Thurmond Burnett said Francisco Solano, 23, of Greenhouse Road Trenton was pronounced dead on the scene. Mr. Solano died from massive head injuries received in the crash.

The driver of the truck  reportedly tried to miss the car to no avail. He was transported by ambulance to the MCG Trauma Unit. His condition was unknown at 1:50 am though his injuries were reported as non-life threatening. Tribble Trucking out of Newberry, SC owns the truck. No other information was provided on the driver.

The death is the fourth reported this week in Edgefield County.
