Trenton man arrested for criminal sexual conduct involving seven year old

web posted March 9, 2007

TRENTON – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Trenton man and charged him with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11. On Wednesday evening Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators served the arrest warrant on Myron Renew, 44, at his Sandrock Way home in Trenton. According to the arrest warrant Mr. Renew’s alleged female victim was seven years old when the initial contact was made and continued for over a year.

The arrest warrant was issued on February 28 but the arrest was not made at the time as the investigation continued. The warrant accuses Mr. Renew of repeated sexual acts with the child between the dates of May 2004 and February 2005. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office initially got the case on February 1, 2006 after being notified of the possible criminal acts by the North Augusta Public Safety where the victim's mother reported the alleged crime.

Mr. Renew is currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. Affidavits did not reveal the number of incidents that are alleged in the case. A trial date was not available at this writing.

The crime is a felony and can carry a sentence of ten to thirty years if convicted.
