Investigators seek public’s help in identifying burglary suspect
web
posted March 12, 2009
TRENTON – The
Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Office is seeking the public’s help in trying to identify a suspect in
the most recent burglary of a self-storage facility. Sheriff’s
Investigators were called to Trenton Self Storage near the Pine House
Intersection Wednesday morning when the renters arrived to find their
storage unit had been burglarized. This is the second report of similar
thefts this week, but this time investigators have video footage and
hope someone can offer a lead in the case.
The couple renting the storage unit is currently building a house in
the county and uses the storage unit to house tools and other personal
items during the construction. When they returned to the location on
Wednesday morning they discovered the theft of a riding mower and a set
of ramps from the unit and notified the Sheriff’s Office.
Video surveillance
cameras captured the images of a white male,
possible heavy set, driving a black Ford F150 extended cab pick-up with
a silver or light colored stripe at the bottom entering the storage
area with nothing in the back of the truck around 7:10 am Sunday
morning. The same driver and truck is then seen leaving the area with
the mower and ramps clearly seen in the bed of the truck.
Investigators hope that someone can help them identify the suspect to
aid them in the investigation. “Right now the truck is the best thing
we have to go on,” Chief Investigator Randy Doran said.
Anyone who has information or may have seen the driver or the truck in
the Trenton area Sunday morning is asked to call the Edgefield County
Sheriff’s Office at 803-637-5337. Callers can remain anonymous while
providing information.
It is unknown if the suspect may be tied to the burglary of several
storage units in Edgefield earlier this week.
