Counterfeit $100 turns up in Trenton
web posted March 22, 2013 TRENTON – A cashier at Billy's Superstore
called the Sheriff's Office to report a customer trying to purchase
items with a fake $100 bill. The cashier spotted the fake bill due to
it not having the proper markings.
A deputy arrived and confirmed the bill was a fake and took it into
evidence.
The customer using the bill stated he had cashed a check the day before
at a store in Johnston and was given the bill at that time. He stated
he did not notice it was counterfeit.
No charges were filed against the customer and the case has been turned
over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further
investigation.
The serial number of the bill was not included in an incident report.
