Copper Thieves Target Same House Again

web posted May 9, 2014

TRENTON A Trenton home on the 3000 block of Highway 19 that had copper thieves dismantle and steal two HVAC units valued at $4,000 just over a week ago was hit again. This time stealing the copper underneath the home that is currently in the process of being sold.

The buyer, who is the current owner's brother and keep a check on the property for him, called the Sheriff's Office after finding an ammo box at the opening to the crawl space under the home. Inside the box were tools. He then looked under the home and noticed copper had been stolen.

An incident report released on Thursday did not specify if the copper was piping or wiring or both. The stolen copper was listed at a value of $2,000.

The case has been taken over by the Criminal Investigative Division, which is already investigating the first theft.
