Woman killed in local fiber plant accident web posted May 22, 2007 TRENTON – A Saluda woman was killed after a manufacturing accident at the Edgefield Manufacturing plant in Trenton Tuesday morning. 53-year-old Sandra Taylor, of the 700 block of Johnston Highway, Saluda, died from injuries she received when her right arm was caught by fibers running over a series of exposed rollers and was pulled into the machine. Nearby workers did not see the accident happen but ran to her aid when they saw her lying underneath the machinery. Workers called 911 to report the accident at the address of US Fibers Warehouse number 1 and began giving Ms. Taylor CPR until EMS personnel arrived and took over treatment. She was transported by ambulance to the MCG Trauma Unit in Augusta where she was pronounced dead at 11:58 am. Edgefield County Coroner Thurmond Burnett said the cause of death has not been determined at this time and an autopsy will be performed in Newberry on Wednesday. Mr. Burnett said Ms. Taylor suffered a fracture to her arm and head trauma. Company officials were unavailable for comment for this story. For
