Trenton Welcomes 100 new jobs

At the regular monthly meeting of the Trenton Town Council Ed Roach of Chicago, Illinois, said the purchase of the former Carlyle plant in Trenton had been filed and announced that he and a partner were merging companies and locating in Trenton.

Trenton Plastic Products, the new company, will employ as many as 100 within the first year and hope to expand production and employees to as many as 200 the following year Mr. Roach said.

Trenton Mayor Helen Summers said, “We’re delighted they are coming,” and related, “We were very worried when we heard Carlyle was closing down,” saying they were a “vital part of Trenton.” Mr. Roach was unable to be reached for comment but stated at the council meeting that they were already hiring some workers now.

Mayor Summers said the Town of Trenton is, “looking forward to a long relationship,” with the new company. According to information provided by County Auditor Bill Gilcrest the company moving into Trenton will bring around $28,000 a year in taxes for the town. “It’ll be a real plus,” he said previously on the deal being in the works.

The opening date of the plant has not been announced and Mr. Roach said they were still evaluating the necessary upgrades to the plant that would be required. New equipment would also mean more revenue for the town since taxes are also based on such assets according to Auditor Gilcrest.

With the recent addition of Urabn Outfitters and now Trenton Plastics at least 500 new jobs will be created with expectations of as many as 700 by the end of next year.
