Trenton man found murdered Sunday afternoon
web
posted June 22, 2008
TRENTON – Edgefield County suffered its
first murder in 2008 when a Courtney Road woman came home and found her
husband dead, Cpl. Robbie Harter with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Office said Sunday afternoon. The report of the murder came in just
after 3 pm and Sheriff’s Deputies began converging on the scene.
Cpl. Harter said the victim was a 60-yar-old black male but his
identity was not being released at this time. Edgefield County Coroner
Thurmond Burnett was also on the scene. “I’m not sure how he was
killed,” Cpl. Harter said adding that the South Carolina Law
Enforcement Division (SLED) arrived on the scene around 6 pm to begin
processing the crime scene for evidence.
The Sheriff’s Bloodhound Team was called and tracked at least one
trail. It is unknown if the trail was related to the murder.
“At this time there doesn’t appear to be anything missing from the
home,” Cpl. Harter said. There are no indications as to the motive and
the investigation is still underway at this writing. Cpl. Harter said
there have not been many calls to the couple’s home on the 100 block of
Courtney Road but there have been several calls to nearby homes.
No time of death has been released. An autopsy will be performed in
Newberry on Monday.
EdgefieldDaily.com will continue to follow this breaking story and will
