Trenton Man Arrested after Trying to Outrun Deputy

web posted June 28, 2014

TRENTON An Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputy on patrol on Highway 25 near the county Industrial Park Thursday evening spotted a motorcyclist heading north, topping the hill at 94 mph and turned around in order to make a traffic stop with blue lights and siren running. The driver had other plans and increased his speed and began passing traffic on double yellow lines to evade the deputy.

As the deputy continued to pursue a second deputy moved into position to intercept the biker. The biker turned off of Hwy 25 onto Greenhouse Road and continued at a high rate of speed. The second deputy took a position at the intersection of Hwy 19 and Greenhouse Road. The driver continued to pass another vehicle at the railroad crossing and, upon seeing the second deputy, pull over to the shoulder and was arrested.

He was identified at 24-year-old Brandon Paul Reeves, of Murrell Road in Trenton. He was charged with reckless driving, failure to register vehicle, operating uninsured vehicle, not motorcycle license and was held pending a felony warrant for failure to stop for blue lights and siren.

According to an incident report, Reeves said at the time of arrest he "was sorry" and did not want to stop due to numerous speeding tickets he had received.

Reeves was released on Friday on a total of $2,920 in surety bonds.
