Burglars Steal Wheelchair, Boat Trailer

web posted July 15, 2014

TRENTON Two North Augusta men called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office Sunday after arriving at the vacation home of one of the men to report items missing. The men, who are brothers, first discovered that an electric wheelchair belonging to one of the brothers was missing from the basement.

Once a Sheriff's deputy arrived at the Laurel Heights home they all went through the home and did not find anything else missing or disturbed. However, the brother that owned the property reported a grey duel axle boat trailer with new tires between 26-28 foot long was missing from the yard.

The boat trailer was listed at a value of $3,000 and the wheelchair was valued at $900. An incident report did not indicate if there was forced entry into the home or if any evidence was recovered from the scene.

The owner stated he was last at the home on June 28. The case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for investigation.
