Deputy Seizes Puppies from Owners' Yard Due to Conditions

web posted July 22, 2014

TRENTON A Trenton woman called the Sheriff's Office to report two puppies being abused and kept in unacceptable conditions. The woman told a deputy that she had witnessed the owners, "kick slap and drop" the small puppies and wanted the deputy to check on the dogs to make sure they were okay.

The deputy was able to locate the Breezy Oak home and found the two puppies in the yard being kept in an upside down plastic food crate that was atop ants as well as no food and no water. The crate was said to be approximately 1 1/2 foot by 2 1/2 foot in size.

Another deputy arrived with an Animal Control truck and the puppies were seized due to the conditions. They were taken to the Aiken County Animal Shelter to be kept until the owners can be located.

Deputies have returned to the home several times and have no been able to make contact with anyone over the weekend. An incident report states they will continue to try to locate the owners. The investigation remains active.
