Deputies Search for Burglary Suspect in Trenton

web posted September 19, 2012

TRENTON – Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies and Investigators converged on the area of the Crossroads Motel and Billy's Superstore following a report of a burglary taking place around 10:15 am Monday. According to witnesses, the burglar tried to get into a mobile home but was unsuccessful. The owner then witnessed the man attempt to get into another home nearby and successfully enter a third nearby home.

The owner fo the third home arrived just after the suspect left and they began searching for the suspect while using a translator to relay information to dispatch. They located the man on Highway 25 when he fled towards the motel.

Deputies were converging on the scene when the residents thought they had him cornered around the motel. A search of the area was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

Investigators processed the home that was burglarized for possible evidence. The homeowner reported that $1,000 in cash and $1,600 in gold jewelry was taken from two locations in the home.

The suspect was described as a black male standing around 5' 7" tall wearing black pants, a blue shirt and a dark blue or black hat and weighing around 150 pounds.

Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance footage from one of the locations that contained footage of the suspect. A picture has not been released at this writing.
