The driver of a blue SUV was said to be “swerving all over the roadway”. A deputy stopped at the intersection of highway 121 and 25 in Trenton saw the driver run the red light at the intersection and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Robert Wayne Briggs, 36, of Tuttle Street in Augusta, pulled over at a nearby laundry mat. When the deputy asked for Mr. Briggs’ drivers license he reached over and opened his glove box and reached for a black Ruger 9mm pistol, reports state. The deputy ordered Mr. Briggs to shut the glove box, which he did, and was placed under arrest for reckless driving. He was transported to the Edgefield County Detention Center and released on Tuesday with a $350 cash bond. The deputy confiscated six beers and the pistol at the time of arrest. For
