Scammers Continue to Target Elderly

web posted December 20, 2013

TRENTON A Trenton woman called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office to report she is being harassed over the phone by a man claiming she has won a cash prize and is seeking her information in order to send her the money. But this 71-year-old isn't falling for it.

The man, who is using the name Jeff Fisher, as well as other names, is calling from a Miami, Florida landline phone connected to Deltacom. The phone number, according to an incident report, is 305-357-0810.

The man continues to call "a few times a day" the woman told the deputy. She has never provided any personal information to the caller.

The case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.

Internet checks show the owner of the phone number and his address is available, for a price, that we did not pay to receive. It is unknown if the name "Jeff Fisher" is just as fictional as the other names he uses when he calls pretending to be someone else about the winnings.
