Six charged after drug raid

web posted December 23, 2008
TRENTON – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Narcotics and SWAT Teams executed a search warrant on a Murrell Road home Friday afternoon that has led to six arrests on drug charges. The arrests stem from an investigation that dates back several months prior to the raid being conducted.

After entering the home a “quantity” of what is believed to be marijuana was found in the front room and also in the master bedroom, which was seized, along with several firearms. The homeowner, David S. Wise, 31, was not present at the time of the raid, and was later arrested in Aiken.

Arrested in the home was 23-year-old Terry Mezac Rouse, of Simpkins Street Edgefield, Patricia Odell Brooks, 31, and Kyle Quincy Mims, 18, both of the same Columbia Road address in Edgefield, and Cary Lee Mason, 37, of Saddlebred Loop, Aiken. 17-year-old Ashley Taylor Scott, of Holmes Pond Road in Johnston was taken home and turned herself in on Monday. All five face a single charge of possession of marijuana and have been released on bond.

Mr. Wise was still being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center on Monday on one count of manufacturing, distribution, possession of marijuana and a warrant for distribution of cocaine.

The case is still under investigation and additional charges are pending the outcome of testing of other possible drugs collected during the raid.

Late Saturday night the home of Mr. Wise was burglarized with a 50” plasma TV, a Playstation 3, and two four-wheelers found to be missing. Deputies were called to another possible break-in on Monday afternoon at the home. Three suspects were identified but no entry into the home was found and they were not charged.
