Our hearts go out to Tim and Katrina (Crane) in the loss of their son. They are in our prayers and our whole family is heartbroken. We don’t know them personally but to lose such a young child is unimaginable. Please everyone join us in our prayers to ease their pain and keep their faith in Jesus strong

Has anyone else announced to run for the county council?

Editor's note: At this time Dean Campbell (Dist 3 - seat currently held by outgoing Chairman Monroe Kneece) is the only candidate that has formally announced. I know of two others who will be filing but have not announced. There are yet two more (one mentioned running in District 4 this week) that are contemplating a run.

RE: "It's obvious that nothing will ever be done to improve the embarrassment Edgefield County must endure with the existing school board...... A lot of talk by a lot of angry people, but no action."

Once again, people are starting to wake up.  Seems to me, I recall a couple that did stand up, did take action, only to be left charging the hill by "a lot of talk by a lot of angry people, but no action."  You can thank the the school board legal eagle and his faux politicos like the walking largemouth, and a few others in Merriwether.  As I saw, those two didn't have a horse in that race, no family members employed by the district, no business connections in the county, no political interests to any one in the county.  Just two American citizens standing up for their brothers and sisters cause no one else would.  Thank the legal eagle, the walking largemouth, and the PC police.  The two patriots sure weren't politically correct in their approach, but they sure were right.  And now Edgefield parents, YOUR chickens have come home to roost!  Now seems as though your only option is to get out the vote.  Let's see how many will stand up and fight then.  We'll see.

Oh yeah.  Does anyone know if that hack legal eagle for the school board is running for office?  If so, you don't have to vote him out, JUST DON'T VOTE HIM IN!

Editor's note: I will agree that the problems in our school district are well documented in news reports and comments in the Wandering Minds. The voting records of all school board members are readily available.

However, I will take a different stance on the opinion of the district’s legal council, Greg Anderson. I have dealt with Mr. Anderson on both sides of the law over more than a decade, adversarial and in cooperation. He has always remained above the fray and exceedingly professional.

He is an attorney and is hired to defend and advise his client, the Edgefield County School District, to the best of his ability. I think your derision would be better served at the elected officials.

It seems to me… it is sort of like blaming the public defender for the crimes of an accused criminal because he or she provides their client with representation in court.

Your question concerning title 9 actually has nothing to do with title 9 , but more of a Issue That needs to be dealt with. Can't go into details but please try to attend our next Booster Club meeting on Tuesday March 5th @ 7:30 PM in the upstairs room of the concession Bldg. ,and This WILL be discussed. No promises can be made at this time , however there should be a good crowd with Many Softball parents ( As well as Football & Baseball ) in Attendance and if nothing else , the ground work can be laid for official discussions with county school officials. Your comment has not fallen on deaf ears , but we need softball participation in the Booster Club to help get this rolling.

It's obvious that nothing will ever be done to improve the embarrassment Edgefield County must endure with the existing school board. Sister Sallie, Brother Bibbs & the Jackson sisters will always be an eyesore to the community. Nobody wants to vote them out. Dr. Crenshaw and Madam Clunkscales are just a by-product of this ongoing school board drama. Remember, it was Brother Bibbs who pushed for Madam Clunkscales appointment, and it was the Mo-Town Fo who pushed for Dr. Crenshaw. Edgefield County is stuck in the middle again. A lot of talk by a lot of angry people, but no action. Speaking of no action, the running platform  for Johnston Mayor should be to manage the budget and not bankrupt the city, clean up the unsightly buildings in town and clean up the criminal element who apparently is happy with their safe environment provided by their mayor. It is evident Mayor Willie does not care whether his town has a lingering criminal element and the highest
number of resident sex offenders in Edgefield county. I just checked the Edgefield sex offender page and Johnston has two new scumbags added as residents. For some unknown reason, Johnston is a haven for Sex offenders where they comfortably roam the town panhandling for money, drugs and alcohol. Thank you Major Willie for keeping us safe. Mayor Willie and the town council can easily get these scumbags out of town if they really had concern for the citizens.

After reading the news article in The Citizens New regarding Michael Medlock's trip to Haiti, I was very disappointed by a few things. I think it was a great thing what this group did and I am so proud of each of them for making a sacrifice and helping those in need. But, what disappointed me was that Michael Medlock was not the only person that went and I think the article did an injustice to the other eight members who did. Not once did he mention the others names or the fact that each of them raised money in the community to take with them to provide for those affected. Shame on The Citizen News for not giving credit where credit was due, although it seems that some only do things to receive recognition, not because they want to make a difference.

RE: "I recently read that the superintendent of Edgefield County Schools made the statement that the reason Black students did not make AYP was because white teachers do not know how to teach Black students."

Its been said before, and it will be said again-this bunch at the Edgefield County School Board and District, and the current Presidential Administration is doing more to set back race relations to what it was 50 years ago then you can even imagine.  Playing the race card at every level to usurp positions of power at every level has been exposed and people have caught on. AND now, you have a Superintendent that is actually calling for SEGREGATION?  Interesting, when the liberal social experiments fail, do they blame the policy? The agenda? NOPE!  They blame the white people. Now, after the shed of blood, sweat, and tears of her own race vying for equality and desegregation, instead of accepting responsibility for their own failed policies, she believes it is time to segregate the schools because white teachers can't teach black students?????  I would bet you a life time salary if this were a white Superintendent making the same statement, the NAALCP (yes, that's right even if you know it as the NAACP-L=Liberal) would be here in a flash demanding a resignation.  Haven't you noticed which schools are getting the most attention and most grant money in the district?  Wake up black community-your own people are doing you very wrong, and that's not fair. Your parents, grandparents, and great grandparents paid a price only to be exploited by these very selfish and corrupt people, your own people.  Wake up Edgefield County-you can change the dynamics during the next election.  You get rid of Jackson and Jackson, and Livingston, you change the entire dynamics of the school board.  No longer a vote down party or racial lines, but truly a vote for our children.  Change the dynamics of the board, you can also change the Superintendent-cancel or not renew the contract-send her packing.  And don't forget, Rex is gone-time to get rid of the union oriented thugs in our school systems.  Take back America by taking back our schools! Take back America, brick by brick!

I recently read that the superintendent of Edgefield County Schools made the statement that the reason Black students did not make AYP was because white teachers do not know how to teach Black students.  I am both appalled and saddened that the leader of a school system would make such an  outrageous statement.  I suppose by her making this statement that we can assume she also thinks that white students did not make AYP because Black teachers do not know how to teach white students.  Edgefield County School District is in a sad state of affairs.  It appears that there is one solution to this problem.  Black parents should demand that their children be taught only by Black teachers. What Dr. Crenshaaw fails to understand is the fact that colleges teach both Black and white future teachers to teach children regardless of their race.  Teachers do not teach children as Black or white.  Teachers teach all children equally.  If Dr. Crenshaw truly believes her rediculous statement, she should test her theory.  She should require Black students to be taught  only by Black treachers.  At the end of a number of years she should examine test scores to find evidence to verify her theory.  It is neither the color of the teacher nor the color of the student that improves test scores or makes AYP.  It is the hard work and dedication of a teacher, regardless of race, who cares about children and their education. We have many good teachers in Edgefield County, but we may not be able to keep them if the superintendent continues make statements that polarize teachers across the entire school district.

I get sick and tired of everyone bashing Edgefield. We are the lifeblood of Edgefield County. If it wasn't for Edgefield there wouldnt be a(n) Edgefield County! You need to think about that!

Editor's note: Really? Merriwether pays over 60% of all personal property taxes paid in the county excluding industry (many of which are located in Merriwether) and has no parks, no recreation, and no other benefits. Some may claim Merriwether's outstanding fire department should be counted, but that is paid for through a separate tax, not property taxes. Between the Westside, Merriwether, Johnston, and the Northside - they are ignored in spite of their tax contributions.

Just stating the facts.

RE: "When and where do we vote for the Edgefield County School Broad? I would love to vote to get some of them out of there....Editor's note: .... I believe (not sure) James Bibbs, Viola Jackson, and Andy Livingston."

and

"......Crenshaw must go now, when I say now I mean now. Ok , and she must take Clinkscales with her ."

Per the first point.  Not only must you educate yourself, but all of us need to educate everyone else as it pertains to voting the school board seats.  The Editor has posted time and time again that the school board seats are supposed to be indifferent to political party affiliation.  That's true, however, wink wink nod nod-you see who vies for the majority on those boards, not just here-everywhere.  It's part of the liberal agenda-and as with every one of their social engineering experiments, it slowly becomes a dismal failure.  The school systems are vastly becoming the American auto industry-too weighted down with people that draw from the system as opposed to those putting into the system and this cannot be sustained over any length of time. It too will collapse.  Look at just what happened.  Last year, because of budget requirements, there were going to be 19 teachers lose their jobs.  Well instead of finding ways to cut wasteful spending to keep the teachers, they anted up and put all of their chips in the pot, hoping for stimulus money.  Well, they won the pot and were able to "save or create" 19 jobs (votes), this year.  However, what happens next year when the stimulus money runs out?  This is the problem-not only with the ECSD, but our politicians in Washington.  They borrow money, run up debt, and there is NO CHANGE IN BEHAVIOR!  Crenshaw just got a raise, ahem Clinkscales too, and now the new Finance Officer wants to hire an assistant because its too big a job for her.  Hey, tell you what Kerns, pack your bags, go back home, take Clinkscales with you because her position was created by Crenshaw, bring back Clark, and there-you just saved two teachers jobs with the money you saved. Get rid of Crenshaw, hire someone more qualified for less, and hey, there's another teacher's job.......And it's Viola Jackson, Mary Alice Jackson, and Livingston on their way out.

To change the behavior, you're right, we need to vote these people out-every one of them!  When you vote-DO NOT VOTE a straight ticket!  If you do, YOU ARE NOT VOTING FOR A SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER!  You have to physically search, find, and vote for the school board member on the ballot.

Per the second point-you don't know how right you are.  And the dirty little secret is, Clinkscales is the "Obama" behind the scenes.

Has someone other than Jackson, Kemp, and Covar asked Bibbs what he received $10,000 for as he listed it on his amended financial disclosure form?  When the Board (Covar) member asked him about it, Bibbs said it was his wife's salary.  She makes more than $10,000.  When Jackson and Kemp asked for it through the FOIA process, they ignored the request. And Bibbs also knows that her salary is not required to be listed on his disclosure form.  Wouldn't his receiving $10,000 from the school district be a conflict of interest?  Looks like a pay back for a vote for something, maybe the Super's contract renewal?  Maybe the Super's raise?

In other words, he will "listen" to them and then reject real reform and push forward with his takeover which is driving his poll numbers to record lows in his first year in office. Does this guy even live in reality? All I can say is, keep getting your message out, the people of America are listening. 55% of Americans agree Obama is failing and only 22% "strongly approve" of what he and the Democrats are doing. Good luck in the midterm elections.

RE: Rock quarry.
I made the mistake of buying near an operating rock quarry in Tennessee and that was a huge mistake.  The tenner of  community meetings there were probably less agreeable than the one you described.  Dust was a continual problem as was complaints from the frequent dynamiting and some people even complained about their well water being diverted as a result.  When complaints were made to the State because of excessive dust, the company would be notified that an inspector was being dispatched and the company would turn on the sprinklers so there would be no violation when the inspector arrived.  The State had a high-volume air monitor in our back yard as did other neighbors.  I suspect that good old boy politics and/or payoffs were in play.  You do have some recourse and any dust entering your property, as a result of quarry operation, is considered particulate trespass.  Be prepared for dust clouds, noise and explosion noise with vibration.

The rights of the quarry owners and surrounding property owners is a hard thing to balance.   In the end, money and political influence will prevail but Edgefield County may be an exception.

Re: There is nothing wrong with your power company. What you are seeing in your bill are the FEDERAL mandates being put forth by the Obama administration and Lisa Jackson. Our power comes from coal -- like it or not. We're being forced to install "scrubbers" to the tune of millions of dollars and for what?

The statement above is nothing but misinformation. First of all, not everyone in this area gets power from SCE&G. A lot of Edgefielddaily readers get power from Aiken Coop. Aiken Coop has more volatile pricing in times of high demand because they have to purchase power from various sources on the open market. Second, the cold weather is the cause of your high power bills. From mid December to mid January we had 20 days of temperatures under 30 degrees. I used 3465 KWH. My normal use during this same period is 2500-2700 kwh. Third, scrubbers were required long before Obama was president. Scrubbers remove toxins like sulfur dioxide, etc. Scrubbers do not reduce the amount of carbon dioxide relesed by coal fire plants. SCE&G rates will continue to rise to pay for its nuclear power plants at Jenkinsville. However, I am going to invest in a Bloom box and totally remove my dependecy on utilites to provide my electricity.

Seems like people are slowly starting to get it.  These people do not have your children's interest in mind, and they don't have the teacher's in mind either.  They are here to line their own pockets with as much as they can before they move on and return to their own hometowns, laughing all the way to the bank, while those left behind in their destructive selfish wake, clean up the mess.  Similar to what we are going to have to deal with when the current President leaves office.  If you don't vote them out that hold her here in that position, you will surely pay a price. We are ALL already paying a price, but you just don't see it as clearly as others -- yet.

Joe and Jose
You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families
Have two parents, two children, and live in California ....

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention....

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,00000per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage forHis family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or Welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe legal now has $9,631.00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose iIllegal pays $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Do you get it, now? If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens... You are part of the problem!

RE: I am very upset this morning, I would like to know what in the devil is wrong with our power company.

There is nothing wrong with your power company. What you are seeing in your bill are the FEDERAL mandates being put forth by the Obama administration and Lisa Jackson. Our power comes from coal -- like it or not. We're being forced to install "scrubbers" to the tune of millions of dollars and for what? We're trying to build nukes, but of course the crazy left-wing environmentalists are fighting us every step of the way. And in the ultimate lie this week -- Obama pledges to close Yucca Mountain, the nation's repository of nuclear waste a day before he announces a Federally-backed loan to build nukes at Plant Vogtle. You can't have a nuclear power plant without Yucca Mountain!! We will spend billions to build a power plant that will never go online. (Does anyone remember the K-Area cooling tower at SRS? Just more Federal union "make work" jobs!) Your beef is with Obama, not SCE&G. And until President Cap & Trade is voted out of office, your bill won't get any better.

It's terrible that Dr. Crenshaw has not recognized the teachers at Douglas and Parker for meeting AYP.  In one neighboring district, the teachers at the schools which met AYP were treated to a congratulatory party complete with cake and noisemakers and in another, teachers were treated to dinner.  I think it's terrible that the teachers at Douglas and Parker have not received any congratulations from their superintendent.  Perhaps she is too busy planning ways to spend her $5,000 raise while the ones who do the actual work experience a pay cut due to furlough days.  Something is sadly wrong here.

Thursday there was a public hearing held at Strom Thurmond High by SCDHEC on behalf of Edgefield Land Development concerning their request to receive a permit to start operations at the old quarry site just outside of Edgefield. Their intention is to sell crushed stone materials produced at the site. My wife and I attended because we are in a similar/ related business and were interested in future potential business opportunities. In addition, potential run-off from the site eventually runs through the area of the county I live in and I wanted to ensure any potential problems were mitigated.

As some of the residents that live in the immediate area came forward to speak I became increasingly sympathetic to their concerns about the adverse effects to their properties and personal lives. How would I feel if a similar operation were proposed near our home? The home we had worked so long and hard for, and put our heart and soul in to. It reminded me how we are all connected in some way and that we cannot always believe that just because something is happening down the road to some other guy that we do not need to worry about it. We do need to be aware of the concerns of our neighbors. One day we will likely face similar problems as well. We will likely be much better off by being more aware of others problems and supportive of those facing them.

I do not know for sure what is the absolutely correct decision here. Residents in the immediate area will not gain much it seems and are concerned about their properties and personal well beings. And rightfully so I believe.

On the other hand the owners of the old quarry site have some right to use their property and gain/ profit from it if possible and done within the rules established by the state. In addition, there will likely be some positive economic impact for the county. Of course money isn’t everything.

Any property owner could find reasons to sympathize with either side.

I was struck by the fact that no public official attended, especially (county) council representatives. How disappointing our elected officials in this county continue to be! Shame! Shame! I also hoped that this would get attention from Edgefield Daily also for the same reason. The quarry operation could have a great impact, positive or negative, on the citizens of Edgefield County. I think this story deserves much more discussion.

Why does the Boys' Baseball team get a locker room made out of half the old Transportation Department office building between the baseball AND softball fields, and the Girls' Softball team has nothing STILL? Supposedly the other half of the building is full of old computers and technology trash that can't be dumped in the illegal landfill behind JET.
As the person over BOTH transportation and school grounds, shouldn't JAMES COURTNEY already know this is a problem and being trying to fix it since it's already spring sports season?
Don't our Girls deserve equal treatment at the high school?

What does putting them in jail accomplish. They still are not working, and if they had a job they where just fired. So they still are not paying child support and the child or children are the ones suffering. Try this: why not house arrest, with a monitoring system and for 9 years of until back support is paid, they can not go any where but to work. I do mean no where. And if they do not have a job well let the state employ them to clean the parks cut the grass, pick up trash, and all of there money will go to child support the state is paying anyway.
Just my thought.

Whaaaaaaa. Whaaaaaa. Whaaaaaaaa.  Seems to me I remember two guys who were leading the charge and were close to having this cleaned up.  But from what I heard, the person that asked Jackson to get involved had too many family members employed by the school system, got scared, and started bad mouthing Jackson and Kemp, undermining their efforts.  I also know there were a lot of teachers running their mouths, but never would provide any information to support their complaints.  Jackson and Kemp are also getting the last laugh as they have run into a number of people from the district that have lost their job, or are losing their job, and they whine about to them f all people.  Word has it, people were afraid.  Jackson and Kemp were stirring up a hornets nest and people were getting scared.  What I can't firure out is-scared of what?  I sure am glad our Tea Partiers have better support than Jackson and Kemp.  Someone a while ago asked why Edgefield didn't have a Tea Party chapter.  Sh@@@@@@@@@@t.  That's obvious, you've got a handful of doers, and a lot of people that like to run their mouth, get scared and run.  Whew!  Glad our country doesn't rely on Edgefield County.

Heaviest Element Yet Known to Science Discovered

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California  has now identified with certainty the heaviest element known to science.

The new element, Pelosium (PL), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Pelosium is inert, and has no charge and no magnetism.  Nevertheless, it can be detected because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.  A tiny amount of Pelosium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Pelosium has a normal half-life of 2 years.  It does not decay, but instead undergoes a biennial reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

Pelosium mass will increase over time, since each reorganization will promote many morons to become isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Pelosium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Pelosium becomes Senatorium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Pelosium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Edgefield County; a school teacher told me that the principle told them they were not to write up anymore students for anything.  We have the most disrespectful kids in the state.  The[y] curse at the teachers, throw things at the teachers and the teachers can't do anything about it.  They have NO SUPPORT, (thank you board and super). I want to know if the school board is aware of this or did they send the order down themselves?

This has become a common complaint here and nothing is being done.  Why?  This super and school board are running Edgefield County Public schools in the ground.  Someone needs to have an investigation on these dealings.

This message has been forwarded to Jim Rex too.  Probably another "spit into the wind".  It might help if the teachers would also send him complaints if they are not already.

Editor's note: I am not sure about this directive, but I am aware that a similar one went out a couple years ago that instructed SRO's to not arrest certain students for crimes and Administrators were not to expel certain students because there was a disproportionate number of one group being brought up for tribunals. By the end of the year some people were so offended they left the school system over the directive.

Editor's note: In SC, even a convicted felon can run for some elective offices once the sentence, fines, and probation has been completed. Nathaniel Jackson ran for the School Board in Edgefield County in 2006 after being convicted and sentenced to 8 years in Federal Prison for cocaine trafficking in 1988. He lost the three way election in a landslide. A court ruling upheld his ability to run.

I'm not sure if Doyle has completed his half million dollar ordered restitution in his fraud case, which would prevent his being a candidate if it is not satisfied.

I was driving back toward Edgefield on Sweetwater Road last Friday evening during the heavy snowfall that had begun about two hours before. As I approached the Volunteer Fire Station there was a
disabled white van partially blocking my lane.  The van's color made the situation particularly hazardous given the road and lighting conditions.
As I slowly passed I asked if the driver needed assistance fully expecting him to decline in this age of cellular communication. But he eagerly accepted and indicated that he needed a "jump" for his
battery.  I turned on my hazard flashers and maneuvered my vehicle so his jumper cables would reach to my battery.  This put the back of my truck even further into the northbound lane of traffic, but I did not
want us to be standing between two bumpers should his vehicle be impacted from behind.  (Readers may armchair this decision and come to a different conclusion.  IMO this "what-if" exercise is always
valuable and is the foundation of aircraft safety investigations.)
I digress.
It took upwards of fifteen tense minutes as darkness fell along with the intense snowfall to get the van started.  During that time approximately thirty cars passed in both directions.  Of those, twenty
or more offered assistance including helping to push the van to a safer area.
I am a newcomer to this area of the country, and I must compliment the people who passed by and offered help.  You represented yourselves, your upbringing and your community with singular distinction.  I thank you, and I'm sure the gentleman who eventually was able to get on his way would as well.

Barack Obama meets with the Queen of England .  He asks her, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me?"
"Well," says the Queen, "the most important thing is to be surrounded with intelligent people."
Obama frowns "But how do I know the people around me are really intelligent?"
The Queen takes a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy. You just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle."
The Queen pushes a button on her intercom. "Please send Tony Blair in here, would you? Tony Blair walks into the room. "Yes, my Queen?"
The Queen smiles. "Answer me this, please, Tony. Your mother and father have a child.
It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?"
Without pausing for a moment, Tony Blair answers, "That would be me."
"Yes! Very good," says the Queen.
Obama now back in Washington asks Joe Biden the same question.  "Joe, answer this for me. Your mother and your father have a child. It's not your brother and it's not your sister. Who is it?"
"I'm not sure," says Biden. "Let me get back to you on that one." He goes to his advisors and asks every one, but none can give him an answer. Finally, he ends up in the men's room and recognizes Colin Powell's shoes in the next stall.  Biden asks Powell, "Colin! Can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"
Colin Powell yells back, "That's easy. It would be me!"
Biden smiles, and says, "Thanks!" Then he goes back to speak with Obama.
"Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It's Colin Powell."
Obama gets up, stomps over to Biden, and angrily yells into his face,
"No, you idiot!  It's Tony Blair! No wonder I'm having so much trouble running things around here".

In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me.  I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia .  Ever!  Nobody recalls him.  I'm not exaggerating, I'm not kidding.   Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of  '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that.  Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who  ever met him.  At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class?  Me.  No one ever heard of Barack!  And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was.

The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him.   Is that not strange?  It's very strange.  "Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at Columbia .  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_Allyn_Root#column-one

NOTE: Root graduated as Valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan school, then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major  (in the same class as President Barack Obama WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN IN).  Can it be that BHO is a complete fraud?? More intrigue concerning "The Man who wasn't there”.

Editor's post: I know that education is important to almost everyone and when the issue is brought up tempers flare. Then when race becomes a part of the discussions tempers rise even higher. So I am going to throw a bucket of water on the fire that is quickly getting out of hand.

Seven comments received for today have been rejected outright for racial reasons. This is not an effort to be politically correct, as I feel political correctness is another word for lie or censorship, but rather a chance for some to take a little longer to type out your frustrations before hitting the send button before you have a chance to read what you wrote.

For the record: Anyone claiming one race is better than another because of skin color is a racist.

Now, if you want to discuss things that an official says to you in conversation, in a public setting, meeting or otherwise will be allowed. Claiming that person’s comments being perceived as racist will also be allowed. Claiming that you “think” or “believe” that person (white, black or any other) is racist is a fine line, but generally allowed.

Attacking the statement with racism (directed from any one race over the other regardless of which way it is flowing) will be rejected and deleted before I finish reading the email.

This is a final warning. Those who continue will be banned from posting comments if they continue, regardless of what the subject matter of their comment may be.

I will say that almost all of the rejected comments come from members of the Mickey Mouse Club trying to subvert the rules in an effort to give Mickey Mouse something to do when he gets back to the clubhouse later this week.

Keep it civil and on point and you will have no problem having your voice heard.

Ok...I was not at the Edgefield County Schoo board meeting ...but I hope someone can tell me that our superintentent did not make the statement "white teacher do not know how to teach black children".  I know many black and white parents that would take offense to that statement.  I know that most Edgefield County teachers want to teach children to grow up to be the best they can be...therefore I strongly believe our teachers are teaching..the problem is many (NOT ALL) children are not taught the value of education at home...therefore do nothing during the school day to learn. What we need is PARENTS...ALL PARENTS...EDUCATED AND UNEDUCATED... to push ALL our students to be the BEST EVER!!!

I did some simple research concerning the number of sex offenders living in Edgefield county and I have a great concern for the human garbage living around us. Approximately 65 registered sex offenders live in Edgefield county with the majority living in Johnston. I know of one sex offender who lives about a half mile from my house who is not registered. Go figure! These pieces of human dung wander our streets with no intent of ever working and looking for trouble. Unfortunately for Johnston, we have a Obama type mayor who supressses our police from getting this garbage off the streets. Mayor Willie also does not want the drunks and drug dealers bothered who hang around Monroe Kneece's liquor store to include the old grocery store. Why is this? Only Mayor Willie can provide the answer. I have a solution. Vote mayor Willie out. He has done a terrible job balancing Johnston's budget, won't let the police do their job, has no clue how to keep the town from looking like East St. Louis, and so on. There are days when I have to carry my pistol around when doing yard work. I use it to run off people who try to panhandle for money. Pretty sad that Mayor Willie won't let the police do their job. Ohhhhh....don't complain about Brad Covar or Dean Campbell wanting to do good for this town. (Deleted)

Editor's note: Just to correct a few things. Mayor Willie Campbell and the Johnston Town Council have run a balanced budget and increased reserves during his tenure. The Mayor cannot force a private property owner to enforce his own no loitering policies. Nor can the Mayor interfere with the enforcement of police powers. That is Johnston Police Chief Chris Aston's job. If you have a problem with law enforcement in the town limits, contact him at 803-275-2488.

On the unregistered sex offender: If you have the location of a unregistered sex offender you should call the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office at once at 803-637-5337. Ask for Lt. Jaggers.

Re Fox Creek Board Election

Is the election of the new board member valid?  I sure he is OK (I do not know him), but there appears to be conflict in the election and the bylaws and State of South Carolina Code.  According to the school bylaws posted on their web site, the following is stated:

“ARTICLE IV - BOARD OF DIRECTORS, CHARTER GOVERNING BOARD
Section 3. Number and Election
Directors shall be elected by having greater than 50% of the votes cast.

Section 11. Vacancies
In the event any vacancy occurs on the Board, by death or resignation, which causes the number of directors to fall below seven (7), the vacancy will be filled within 30 days in accordance with the election procedures as outlined in South Carolina Code Ann. § 59-5-10 et seq. which conforms with the Act. At all times, the Board shall consist of not less than seven (7) Board Members.”

The SC Code referenced above states:
“SECTION 59-5-10.
Any vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment for the unexpired portion of the term”

Based on the reported results, the gentleman that won received 21 votes of the 75 reported total votes or 28 percent of the vote. This appears to be in conflict with their own bylaws.  Is there a State Agency that should look into this?

Editor's note: You could try first locally, and try is about as far as you will get. Next step, the state Department of Education.

Tax versus Fee. It seems to me the county government is using terms that will least likely offend the ignorant masses.  If taxes are used to pay for services rendered by a government, then why are there separate line items on my Motor Vehicle Property Tax and Registration Renewal Notice that include a $30.00 Vehicle Renewal Fee and a $20.00 Road Maintenance Fee.  Why are these not labeled as taxes.  If my taxes pay for roads, road maintenance equipment, and road services, then what's the Road Maintenance Fee, but a tax?  Is this merely a way to "disguise" the true tax rate?  And about the $1.00 decal fee that I did not previously mention?  It's only a dollar, but is there a real need to nickel and dime tax payers?  My presumption is that the renewal fee would include the acts of printing, folding, stapling, and mailing the decal, since I am already being charged $30.00.  So what costs a dollar; the sticker?  Am I paying $1.00 for a sticker the size of a postage stamp?  What in the processing of the property tax of a 13 year old yard truck, could possibly cost $30.00?  Seems to me...these "fees" are "taxes."  Educate me please so that I may stand corrected and accept the label "Fee."

Editor's note: A tax and a fee are the same thing. They both show up on a "tax bill".

I believe you need at least seven to file a class action suit, but that may also not be the requirment if you're oing to sue on the grounds of racism.  Get the people together, the evidence is out there.  All it needs is for some one to bundle it up in a nice neat little law suit.  Hey, we can all get together and find a lawyer to take it.  You know someone will take it if you can nationalize it.  And if you knew, you'd see it didn't just start here, look back at her previous school districts.  DARN! Y'all finally starting to wake up.  Kemp and Jackson were onto something, and you knew it because the race card was played on them.  If you could get those two back, you may be able to get back on track, I'm sure they had a lot of information that had not even been exposed yet.

And dont; firget-everyone should work very hard toward the political solution-VOTE JACKSON, JACKSON, and LIVINSTON OUT THIT ITME AROUND, and BIBBS and COOKS, the next time around.  Then you'll be able to get rid of the Superintendent.  Also, she flies under the radar, but it's Clinkscales you really need to be watching.  Kerns and Courtney need to go too.  Kerns is in over her head, and Courtney....well, that's coming to light?

Why is the superintendent and school board getting away with such racism? Every one knows it is not the truth. It is time to sue the superintendent/board for racism against all the White, Hispanic and Asian kids and teachers. When my child has problems in school I find out why and do what it takes for him to succeed. I had to fight tooth and nail to get him into resource class, He has been on the honor roll ever since.
Maybe the superintendent  needs to look closer at her own race, maybe it is a parental racial reason.
It is NOT a teachers job to solve problems at home for a child,  The black parents are the reason their kids do poorly, if it is a racial issue.

Editor's note: White children fail too so it is not about race as it is some people just do not care and they are having children who later grow up (or sometimes before) to have children.

I would love to know how and why I should teach the minority students differently.  Isn't that what was happening BEFORE INTEGRATION?  Segregation wasn't satisfactory then, and African-Americans wanted their children educated with the white students in the predominantly white schools by faculties composed of mostly white teachers.  I am sorry, but my expectations of the minority students will remain the same as my expectations for ALL students.  Anything less would be denying them a real education in which they are taught to accept responsibility for their own learning.  After all, they probably won't be given special privileges in the work force.  Why not teach them that early on?

RE:  "I find it interesting that our school board and superintendent received a pass on a recent statement the superintendent felt compelled to make at the last meeting. To state that the reason there are so many black children not passing AYP in the edgefield school system is due to the inability of white teachers to teach black children"

Well this needs to be considered.  Viola Jackson, an African American female could not pass the SC certification to teach in our SC schools, so she goes across the river and works.  And yet she is a member of our school board???? So, does that mean if the SC certification standards didn't exist and Viola was allowed to teach in our schools, that Viola would be a better teacher for any of our students, black or white? And because teachers who happen to be white can get SC certified, they are not qualified to teach our children?  If the Superintendent had the "intestinal fortitude" she was chosen for, she would at least go to the schools, and see that the kids don't give a rats @55 about the color of skin.  From what I've seen, they all get along pretty well-its people like the Superintendent, and members of the school board that inject race into everything-especially, when their policies and agendas fail.

And remember, she was just re-hired and given a monthly raise disguised as travel pay. Interesting, mess up, move up.  But y'all know why she was re-hired, a hemmmmm, BIBBS, JACKSON, JACKSON, COOKS.  Even if Livingston and Covar voted no, majority wins.  That's why they fight so hard against dissenters-without the Superintendent, the Board's agenda can't be furthered, and without the Board, the Superintendents' agenda cant be advanced.  Neither party has your children's interest at heart-it's their own personal hidden, racist agendas.  It's coming back around-VOTERS, get out and VOTE!  With their actions, they are undoing everything that has been accomplished-and MLK will have died in vein.  That's an absolute shame.

The only way you're going to change this is at the ballot box.  People from the other school district areas that aren't up for re-election should go to the district areas that are and work like mad to get people like Viola Jackson, Mary Alice Jackson, and Andy Livingston replaced with people that know what they are doing and do have the our children's interest at the forefront of their agenda.  We should also push to have qualifications to run for those seats changed-after all, why should a person who can't even certify sit and make policy for the rest of our children.

It's always interesting-if you fail because you have bad policies or agendas, play the race card, or blame the previous administration.  Either way, you really do highlight the fact that you are not a leader-you're a loser.  Pack your bags-Hemmingway or Bust.

We should all wake up.  We should push for referendums to deny those that receive Welfare, Government Housing, and do not pay taxes,  a right to vote.  After all, why would they vote for a candidate that was going to cut those programs to serve the needy only and not those living off the public dole?  Why would they vote for a candidate interested in giving tax cuts to those that create jobs?  They wouldn't.  Why would they vote for a candidate interested in a Fair Tax? They wouldn't because then they would have to pay taxes like everyone else.  And the last referendum-if you are receiving a government entitlement-you are required to take a urinalysis on a monthly basis, just like our military (and yes the government would pay for it).  If you have money to purchase and use drugs, then you don't need government assistance!

Better yet, send all the illegal aliens back to where they came from (will save us billions).  Everyone receiving a government entitlement, will be required to fill their jobs in the fields (decrease in unemployment).  The money they receive from the government will be proportionate to what they earn from the employer in the fields, landscaping, etc. (we get a good ROI). If you don't want to fill those jobs-government assistance is denied! (saves billions)

If you are receiving unemployment-you will get a grace period of 26 weeks (the way it use to be) to find a job.  If you do not find a job and you file for extended unemployment benefits, off to the fields you go.  You'll still receive your extended unemployment to supplement the pay you earn in the fields, but it too will lapse.  Bet if you had to work in the fields, you'd pull your bootstraps up and go find a job!

Military Fly Over denied by Obama
The real person responsible is now emerging, and he is unfit to even be a janitor! Unbelievable, isn't it!!! Everyone needs to see this. I foresee many many flyovers by the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels being canceled in the next three years too. Also demonstrations by the Golden Knights and our service

Obama  denied a military flyover at the annual God and Country rally in Idaho , where new military recruits were inducted and all military were honored.

This is the first time 42 years  that  there has not been a military flyover in formation, and organizers were stunned that Obama refused to allow this. When the  lady organizing the event contacted the Pentagon to ask why this was not allowed, as it had occurred every year for 42 years, she was told it was because of the event was of a Christian nature. The video below also mentions that when Obama made  a recent speech, a cross and a Christian symbol for Jesus had to be covered first. This is beyond unbelievable action by the Commander in Chief and President, and Americans need to know about it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your headlines read like a "B" rated bad movie complete with all of the washed-up actors that no one cares about. Bar owners who defy the law and call out councilmen as their protectors without any repercussions. It's laughable at the antics that are printed. Unfortunately there is more to life and much better places in this country than the sad and pitiful happenings of Edgefield County. The exodus of aspiring citizens to more prosperous and open-minded areas is my hope to all of our young people. Get out before you get trapped in the backward good ole boy system that has continuously plagued this sad little county. Not all of America is as inept and corrupt. Venture out and you will find out that life is so much better when you realize that the world is not flat but round and there is so much more waiting for you in the world.

As for Hilliard, this should be a learning experience that should be discussed in every classroom. Accountability for one's actions should be instilled in all of our young people. This was an unfortunate event that could have easily been avoided. He was no saint to begin with and the editor was right in his comments. The jury did not know all of the facts. He will now pay for his actions and Trey will still be dead. All he had to do was walk away. Now he has 8 to 10 years to remind him that not all differences have to be settled by attacking someone physically. I feel sorry for both of the families and especially Trey's son and Angela. God bless both of you.

Editor, keep up the great work. At least someone has the guts to print the laughable happenings without the censorship plaguing the other newspapers and I use that word loosely. You are appreciated.

To state that the reason there are so many black children not passing AYP in the edgefield school system is due to the inability of white teachers to teach black children. Almost as bad as saying, an otherwise very qualified white person, would be unable to meet the needs of the black students and therefore is not qualified to be district superintendent. I wonder where all these qualified black teachers, that taught our enlightened board members and present superintendent, have gone to. I also find it interesting that the board held this budget meeting at the same time there were so many other events happening in the county, with very little advance notice of the meeting to the public.

Editor's post: I have to say I am surprised by the verdict in the murder trial of Thomas Hilliard. I expected a charge of involuntary manslaughter at best with a suspended sentence and probation. I knew murder would never be proven. No intent, forethought, or malice was proved to be involved, in my opinion. Obviously the jury agreed.

As I said, you can never tell what a jury will do in any case.

I feel for both sides in this situation. The Herring family lost a family member and the Hilliard family sees their loved one in jail for 8 1/2 years for a death he never intended to happen.

I won't rehash the case, as doing so is unproductive. The jury was never provided all the information I knew about the case, which is nothing unusual.  If they had, maybe things would have been different. Either way it matters little, unless an appeal is filed the sentence is the reality.

Okay I want to add my opinion on the Hilliard case! He is my cousin! Uh huh! Been around each other a good bit! All y'all runnin y'alls mouth...and i know i may sound uneducated...i know some of y'all will say that! But Im a little ANGRY at the moment! I bet at least 95% of y'all have got in a fight of some sort! Think about it...you and maybe your husband or wife...or maybe your kid got into it...and you barely pushed them...they hit there head and died! Now would you go around sayin you murdered your child or your spouse...i dont think so! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! I know that wasnt the situation, but Thomas never intended for that to happen!

Okay...the next matter is...how about that "ex cop"...(removed) he got his gun and killed the guy! THAT IS A MURDERER! He got 2 years house arrest and probation! That just comes to show how crooked edgefield countys court system is! A JOKE!

Now the last thing i have to say...our states solicitor on the case made some very inappropriate comments! Sayin my great aunt needed to be rolled out in a wheel chair? or his comment...did you intend for Thomas to kill Trey?

It's a good thing i wasnt there, because i would have gone to jail! Whoo! I sure feel better! But all of you people who think that you have won...dont forget he will be free and walkin around in a few years! :)

I just want to add that i'm very sorry for Treys familys loss! But you all know that if Thomas were the one gone and Trey was goin to prison for something he never intended to happen how yall would feel!

Both families were hurt by this tragedy...but until you consider both parties in the situation...you shouldnt judge!

I love you Thomas Patrick Hilliard! You will always have our support!

First off I would like to express that I'm truly sorry for the loss of Trey Herring!

Now I'm really fixing to express how I feel about this! People on here don't know Thomas on a day to day basis, if you did you would know that he's not a killer, as many of you would like to refer to him as! He has grown up with a rather not so perfect background, then others. Everyone is not perfect, if you were than your name would be God and we all know there is ONLY one God!

Don't try and say Thomas isn't sorry for this, that he wanted it to happen. That's not true and I would know! I guess you could say I'm rather close to him! Everyday Thomas has to wake up and deal with the nightmares that haunted him the night before. It's not a cakewalk to carry this on your shoulders. He's stronger than I could ever be, because I couldn't deal with it on a daily basis.

I do not feel that he should have gotten the time he did, but again this is the way I feel! I know others don't agree with me and that's there right. I am thankful that he will walk a free man in 7-10 years though!

Since this happened last year Thomas has started turning his life around for the better! Going to church, marrying a wonderful young lady, and expecting a son in may! (Only now he wont get to see his son born!) Yes Trey's son is without a daddy, but Trey was there for the birth of his son!

As for the closing Statements in court made by the states solicitor against Thomas' grandmother, she's not some old woman that needs to be wheeled away in a wheelchair to the old folks home! She might be in her sixties, but she's still alive and kicking! She doesn't need a wheelchair she's had both her knees replaced and can walk perfectly fine! Thank you very much!

I'm thankful for all the prayers and people that stood behind Thomas! Please continue to do so he's going to need all the support he can get!

Thank you and God bless!

I saw the ballot posted on fox creek web site.  Interesting that one of the candidates says he is a former SIC chair but fails to mention that he resigned because he got upset about some action taken by other people What a leader.  Another candidate states he is a former board member, but as I remember, he did not make the recommemded number of meetings required of a board member.  Glad to see that strong folks are running for their board. On the other hand, the only way to find out what they are doing is to be on the board, since they no longer post their minutes (only school board in the area not to do so).  Parents, cast an informed vote-the future of your child will be in their hands!!

RE:  "watching Mrs Palin on the stage with notes writen on her hand gives me a pit in my stomach. I remember children doing that in 5th and 6th grade. No kidding."

Looks like you should have used the same cheat sheets so that you could write properly-your notes should say 1) Remember to capitalize, e.g., Watching; 2) Use proper punctuation, e.g., Mrs.; 3) Spelling, e.g., written.

Actually, writing notes on her hand is quite ingenious.  First, it shows she can boil down her thoughts to such small notes, and actually shows that when she speaks, she does in fact speak from the heart.  It shows she has a command of what she is speaking about and is a subject matter expert on what she is talking about.  It shows she believes in what she is saying and promoting.  Having to read everything from a teleprompter says a lot-you know nothing about what you are spewing.

The other part that is ingenious about it is that she is able to continually expose the media bias and elicit a full blown response from the White House machine over something so trivial. In being so reactionary to her every move speaks volumes-they are afraid of something.  They are deathly afraid of something they are not listening to-THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! And rightfully so.

Since the Messiah is such a magnificent speaker when not using a teleprompter, we really don't need to see the notes written on his hand, we know what his notes say - um, ah, um um ah, ah, ah, ah, um.

watching Mrs Palin on the stage with notes writen on her hand gives me a pit in my stomach. I remember children doing that in 5th and 6th grade. No kidding. To think anyone believes she is a legitimate leader and deserving of respect as such simply must have a very loose grasp on reality. No doubt she is popular and entertaining, but her mean spirited comments about our president (and by extension those who voted for him) leave me worried for our great nation.

Editor's note: She had six words written on her hand. Pres. Obama can't speak at a elementary school without two TelePrompTers. Food for thought.

In response to your report about Thomas Hilliard I don't understand how you could say that "If they are allowed to know what I know, I feel certain Mr. Hilliard will walk out of the courtroom a free man".  If you knew the things that I know, you would think he needed to be put under the jail.  I am very close to this case and have been since 2-01-2009.  I have been in contact with many law officers and others that are involved in this.  I certainly hope you are wrong because we do not need people like Thomas Hilliard walking our streets.  He was suppose to have not been going out at night as part of his getting out on bond.  Which I know of two specific times that he was at the pool room in Johnston after his curfew.  One night he tried getting into a fight and told the guy," To come on I've already killed one person this year come on".  The other time I know about he was thrown out of the pool room for not wanting to pay his bill and was told to never come back.  I'm sure he is not even suppose to be in a place that serves alcohol much less to be drinking it.

You must have not checked all of his police records that he has, from burglary which he got a 15 year sentence suspended to 2 years and several charges for drugs  just to name a few not counting the charge for murder.

I really would like to know what you think you know.  And as you reported last year when this happened that Trey and Thomas were friends they never were.  They may have been together at the same places sometimes but they were not friends and never were friends in school either.  Trey's family had never even heard of him until he killed Trey.

Trey wasn't perfect, but none of us are, but he certainly didn't deserve what Thomas did to him. And he certainly doesn't show any remorse for what he did.

And thanks to Thomas he leaves Trey's son without a father and his mother, sisters, brother, and the rest of his loving family with a big whole in all their hearts.

Editor's note: I expressed an opinion. You do not have to agree. The jury will decide the "facts" of the case: not you, me, or anyone else. Reports are based on the information presented in the case and my opinions are base on the information I have. I still say the jury will never convict on a murder charge. A lesser charge, maybe, but not murder.

You, nor I, know what the jury will do in this case.

I believe you will find the reason for Mr. Faust's resignation was very simply , disgust with the actions of the Board. There were considerable underhanded actions taken in the handling of the replacement search and also in the treatment of Mr. Couch by the Board. The Board wants to run the school and render the Headmaster ineffective in certain areas. Hence, Mr. Couch's resignation.

RE: "Editor's note: Having known Andy Livingston for many years, I am pretty sure he is a Republican."

How do you say RINO? What he says he is and how he acts are two different things-somewhat like Lindsey Graham.  Livingston has bemoaned how the Superintendent's management and policies were having a negative impact on our schools, but yet, he very rarely stood up to them and essentially left Covar and Hoffman sitting on their own.  And he just recently voted UNANIMOUSLY to extend Crensahw's contract and give her a raise to boot?  Hoffman wasn't present for the vote, and Covar was trying to get the contract changed to read that the Superintendent could not have any conflicts of interest, or side businesses, e.g., grant writing company.  But since everyone else opposed it, he too voted for Crenshaw's renewal just so he wouldn't look like an obstructionist.

So now you ask, why would Livingston vote to renew Crenshaw's contract after years of whining about her? Simple.  Mayoral run in Johnston.  What is one of the largest voting blocks in Johnston?  Typical political hack-sells his soul to the devil.  Guess what Andy, we Americans are tired of the politics as usual, we are tired of our representatives selling their souls and selling out their constituents for their own gain.  So Johnston, do us all a favor.  When election time comes, please give us a double-play.  Vote no for him for Mayor of Johnston, and vote no for him for his school board position.  He has fed at the taxpayer trough for too long, with nothing in the way of accomplishments to show for it.  He rode the gravy train for 17 years undetected and was able to because such positions were always flying under the radar.  BUT NO MORE.  Americans at every level are paying attention.  Lucky for him-he got his 17 in before people started noticing.  JOHNSTON - VOTE LIVINGSTON INTO RETIREMENT!

Mr. Editor: I spoke with you (Monday) and you said you were covering the murder trial of Trey Herring. I want to thank you for covering the trials that take place because no one else does. The papers generally just report how the trial turned out if they report on them at all but Edgefield Daily reports on what took place. That is why I read Edgefield Daily and not the papers. That aside, you told me that from what you know about the case that you don't think (Thomas) Hilliard will be convicted. I know you were in a rush to get back in the courtroom and didn't have time to explain why you felt that way so maybe you can explain it now. I'd be very interested in hearing why you think one murderer should go free and you want others thrown under the jail? Thanking you in advance. (name removed)

Editor's note: Gee, thanks, put me on the spot on an ongoing trial. First let me make it clear the murder trial is against Thomas Hilliard who is accused of killing Mr. Herring, not a murder trial of Mr. Herring.

At this time I really do not feel very comfortable going too deep into the information I have on the case. After all, it is ongoing and even though jurors are not supposed to read the news or talk about the case, there is always that chance. In fact, before the day was over, there was a problem with one of the jury members. I do not know how that turned out as the judge cleared the courtroom to talk with the jury member. I suppose that will be made known today.

I will only say that many I have close contact with agree that the state will have a hard time proving all the requirements that will have to be met in order to prove a single punch that resulted in Mr. Herring falling and hitting his head constitutes murder.

As one person related to the case asked me on Monday, "would you convict him (Hilliard) of murder?" I had to reply "No". But I know more than the jury does at this point and I often know things the jury will never know during the case. So that is a biased opinion on my part. If they are allowed to know what I know, I feel certain Mr. Hilliard will walk out of the courtroom a free man.

One thing I will say is, you never know what will happen with a jury in Edgefield County.

I know that is sidestepping your question to some extent, but the Jones trial last week involved a big stink about reports by EdgefieldDaily.com and the jurors in this case were also warned about reading or watching news reports, and especially the "internet news" provider for the county.

We should inundate the White House with emails demanding he keep his feet off of our furniture.  This arrogant, immature, and self-centered man has no sense of honor, or of simple decency.

While this posture is disrespectful in any culture, it is absolutely never done in any executive setting.

Further, in over half of the cultures of the world, it is recognized not only as disrespectful, but as an extreme insult.

He thinks of himself as a king -- and not as a servant of the people, humbly occupying our White House for his term in office.

Its obvious this poster is one of the dumb masses.  First, who is the Superintendent of the SC Dept of Education?  Rex (D). And who sits on the Edgefield County School Board-Bibbs (D), Cooks (D), Viola Jackson (D), Mary Alice Jackson (D), Livingston (D). And the Superintendent (D), HR (D), CFO (D).  Hmm.  Looks like our schools are actually run by the (D's).  Second, Now that the $3Million was taken by this school district from the "stimulas" money, where do you think the school district will come up with that $3m when the fed money runs out?  Duhhhhhhh.  Instead of cutting wasteful spending from the budget, and actually following a budget, they kicked the can down the road and accepted the $3million.  Guess 15-20 teachers kept their job for a year longer, but eventually, reality will set in and the $3mil will have to be made up some how, or cut.  Pay me now, pay me later.  Like paying for your mortgage with a credit card.  Yup, mortgage is paid this month, but YOU STILL OWE THE MONEY STUPID! And now Rex (D) is still not looking at ways to balance his budget, or curtail wasteful spending, he wants to tack on an additional $1.27 per pack of cigarette taxes to help him assuage teacher furloughs.  Makes sense to me-first they castigate and ridicule smokers,  but they sure are addicted to the tax they collect from the smoker, as much as the smoker is addicted to the cigarette.  One thing though-there were additives intentionally placed in cigarettes to make the cigarette addictive-what about the taxes the feds and states enjoy?  It's all about votes.  Keep as many teachers on the payroll you can-that's the (D's) base.

So, how's that hope and change working out for ya.  And now we ask, where did THESE fools go to school?  The school of Obamanomics? First we be collectson our check from da guvment, then we become hyphenated Americans, then we be gettson our own language-ebonics, then we be gettson our own Christmas-Kwansa, and now we be gettson our own maff.

Mr. Editor. I was somewhat taken aback by your comment on Saturday about the conviction of an “alleged” child molester and then wishing him into hell. No Christian would ever wish anyone to be damned to eternal torment. You are wrong!!! You should be ashamed. You don’t even know if he is really guilty! How many people are found to be innocent years after they were convicted of heinous crimes they were convicted of committing?

Editor’s note: First of all, George Jones is not “alleged” to have raped a 7-year-old child; he has been convicted of the crime. And this is not his first conviction for a criminal sexual conduct incident. Secondly, I do not “wish” him to hell for punishment; I just stated it was suitable punishment. I support the death penalty for child molesters who rape children when the victim is under the age of 11 and I stand by that position. In fact, I support the death penalty for rapists in certain circumstance even when it is adult on adult.

If the jury knew what I knew before deliberations, they would have come back with a guilty verdict in less than 20 minutes.

Our judicial system has been corrupted by lawyers seeking rights the accused were never intended to have. Someone charged with a crime was to be tried by a jury of “his (or her) peers”, those who knew the person and their background. That has been perverted to the point you are assured to be judged by the “peers” of someone else, not your own.

I see a lot of people on here complaining about the public school system in Edgefield County.  Here is a hint:  Republicans run this state, and do a poor job of managing our public schools (SC ranks almost dead last in the nation in public schools).  You see, Republicans don't care much for public schools.  They support vouchers so that their kids can go to the private schools and re-segregate the school system.

Heck talk about furloughs... what if that disgrace, Mark Sanford (R-SC), had gotten his way and turned down stimulus money?  Oh yeah, the MONEY WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY BACK ANYWAY!!!

Now you have this "Tea Party Movement".  Ok, let me put out a foreword here:  I worked on the 2008 campaign doing REAL grassroots work (knocking on doors, registering voters, raising $$$ for Democratic candidates) - this "Tea Party Movement" is a bunch of B.S.  $550 for a seat to see Palin speak, and she gets paid $10,000/speech.  THIS IS THE PARTY WHO IS FORGING THEIR PLATFORM ON FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.  Do as I say, not as I do.

Seems like if Palin was really the "renegade" warrior that she stumped as on the campaign trail, maybe she would donate her time to the Tea Party movement, instead of charging $40,000-100,000 a pop.  The folks that wrote checks to me usually gave $50 or $100.

OH yeah and about this thing about race not playing a factor... we had to move one of our South Georgia Field Offices in 2008 because of threats from the KKK.  The FBI was involved.  Three cheers to the "village idiot" comment.

Editor's note: Good thing you didn't have to move it for the ranking Democrat Senator who was a white hood wearing leader in the KKK, Democrat Sen. Byrd. It was the Democrats that beat down the blacks in the Civil Rights movement, not the Republicans. And yet you want to blame Republicans, not your own party?

The party of "do as I say do not as I do" is led by House Speaker Pelosi who spends millions of dollars flying her family members around the country on Military jets at our cost while telling us we need to tighten out "belts" and "sacrifice" for the country (ie: her) and Obama who flies his wife around the world for "date night"?

RE: "As  a parent, I sit quietly listening to the teachers talk about a possible 5 more....." and "I heard Dr. Crenshaw, Superintendent of Schools, speak at the Intergovernmental Meetin....".

Deju Vu.  Notice anything about this.  A lot of conservative Americans tried to warn the country of the socialist agenda that the current President would try to use to "fundamentally" change America.  And what happened, the socialist liberals along with the media, circled the wagons and blasted these people, bad mouthed them, excoriated them, launched attempts of character assassination against them, yes, and even played the race card against them.  Their efforts were successful and look at what we have in the White House -- an absolute America hating, traitorous, socialist that has driven this country into the depth of debts that few can even comprehend.

Seems to me, I recall a time where a couple of guys carried the water and stood up for the teachersand some parents-gee, I think their names were Kemp and Jackson. They elevated a lot of concerns regarding the Superintendent and members of the school board, but because a few prim and proper PC police didn't like their tactics, they were told to back off.  And now, in both situations, it appears the Conservative Americans were right about the President and his Administration, and yet, we're stuck with them for another three years.  Kemp and Jackson appeared to be on to something, and yet we're stuck with it for another three years.  And only God knows why the School Board voted unanimously to not only extend Crenshaw's contract for three years, but also gave her a raise to boot!

What ever happended to the Ethics Commission investigative report?  Also, why wouldn't James Bibbs release information listed on his financial disclosure form for an extra $10,000 received from the school district?  For what?  And when he was questioned about it from a school board member he said it was his wife's salary.  Well one knows that's BS.  His wife makes more than $10k, and it's not a requirement to list her salary or finances on the form.  Jimmy knows this.  And that is why he refused to provide the information to Kemp and Jackson under a FOIA and that's why Kemp and Jackson have had to file suit to get the information requested under the FOIA.  And why won't Crenshaw release her "taxpayer paid for" cellular telephone records to Kemp and Jackson identified in their FOIA?  Is it because there are business numbers in those records that would confirm that she is conducting grant writing business on school time like Kemp and Jackson suspected and were told?  And wouldn't those telephone numbers also disclose who she was doing business with-wink wink, nod, nod-her own grant writing company in Charlotte, NC, Georgetown, SC, and her hometown of Hemmingway?   Those two were onto something-they were following the money and the trail was leading to the downfall of Crenshaw, Bibbs, Viola Jackson, Cooks, Clinkscales, Courtney, and now possibly Kearns.  Some of us knew where they were going and supported them behind the scenes.  It was the PC police and the whiners that got in the way-they thought Kemp and Jackson were being too brutal.  Seems we need more people like them to stand up, and it sure looks like that's what is NOW happening across this great nation.  Indicators they were on to something- 1-Bro Bibbs and Sister Sally played the race card, and even brought in the likes of Nathaniel Jackson; 2-the school board and the school district refused to answer FOIA requests; 3-Crenshaw played the "I'm afraid for my safety/victim" card by having her husband start attending meetings when she knew Jackson and Kemp would be present; 4-The resignation of the CFO for the district; 5-Bibbs and Cooks went to Columbia to cut a deal to call off the Ethics Commission investigation;

If you all were smart, you'd re-contact Kemp and Jackson, get rid of the PC police, the largemouth, the legal eagle, and you'd re-visit what was being unearthed.  And you should get behind them and push this forward.  There's a lot of work that was being done, but they couldn't do it alone, and they surely wouldn't take the bad mouthing-would you? But that's just a suggestion.

The silver lining-we can revamp the School Board this election-VOTE OUT Viola Jackson, Mary Alice Jackson, fill Andy Livingston's seat with someone with some brass, then force the Superintendant's contract to be canceled.  I believe the site has been taken down, but as I was watching, there were 176 signatures on the petition to cancel that contract.  There should have been 10x that number.

You talk about who is going to run (for county council seats) and who isn't. Quick jerking us around. Name them!!!

Editor's note: It is not my place to announce a person's candidacy for office and I would never betray the trust of off the record conversations with the candidates. However, as it stands at this time this is how the races are shaping up.

District 1: Norman Dorn will seek re-election. At least one candidate has made it known they intend to run against Norman Dorn on the Democrat ticket. A second candidate has yet to confirm running. Trace Faust, who ran in 2008 has confirmed he will not seek another challenge.

District 2:
Rodeny Ashcraft will seek re-election. He will almost certainly face a challange on the Republican ticket by someone in Edgefield. I have some who say they have the candidate confirming the run, but after several requests, the individual has not confirmed the run to me. My take, he is running.

District 3: The best inside information says County Council Chairman Monroe Kneece will not seek re-election due to health issues. One Republican candidate has confirmed he will be seeking the seat. There is talk of two others who may seek the seat on the Democrat ticket. One being a convicted cocaine trafficker who served out his conviction in the federal penitentiary. There is a possible second Republican candidate who has yet to confirm a run for the seat - who at first stated a run as an independent. Another candidate that was considering a run for the seat dropped out after learning of the other Republican candidate running..

District 4:
Willie Bright will seek re-election. There is a candidate who is still saying a run is "very likely" but has not confirmed his candidacy or party affiliation

District 5: Genia Blackwell will seek re-election. No viable candidate has come forward at this time to challange her in the race.

As  a parent, I sit quietly listening to the teachers talk about a possible 5 more (than they already have)
days furlough for next year and the state has cut each child's money in half, I wonder how much more money will have to come out of the all the parents pockets to help with normal daily class necessity's.  Then I hear Dr. Crenshaw will be getting a $5000 raise.  RAISE for what?  What is wrong with this picture?  Oh and is she asking for gas money for each trip to who knows where in the sum of $500 a trip.  Please tell me what the real deal is because my head was spinning so from all this B---S---.  Each school in this district needs a teacher or two for some grade level  and the classes are crowded enough. Why does she deserve a raise?  Why can't she refuse the raise and send the money back to the school programs where it belongs?

I heard Dr. Crenshaw, Superintendent of Schools, speak at the Intergovernmental Meeting a week ago.  The theme of her talk was "The Children Are Doing Fine".  The subtitle could have read, "But a Little
More Money Wouldn't Hurt".  The interesting part of her speech came near the conclusion where the one exception to the theme was that "...somewhere between entering the eighth grade and graduation thirty- seven percent of the children fail to finish".  I may be incorrect in my recollection of the exact drop-out rate, but I recall being astounded that a Superintendent of Education could stand before a
group and say on the one hand that "the children are doing fine", yet, on the other, admit to such an obvious failure as the drop-out rate she used.  She did say, however, that more money would go a long way toward fixing the problem.

Editor's note: Dr. Crenshaw stated a 32% drop-out rate at the meeting. However, rounding it off by either number, 1/3 of all students entering high school drop out before graduation. That means the school district has a grade of 66 for doing their job. A failing grade.

According to sources close to the situation, Mr. Couch resigned late this week. School Board member Trace Faust resinged two weeks ago and has been replaced by appointment. Re: What a disgrace…

Come on Editor. I am willing to be objective if presented with facts. Your response sounded a little on the politically correct side. Maybe I do not understand your statement. Please tell me how someone like Mr. Dorn can be elected by a colorblind group of voters. I could go on and give you many other examples, black and white, where race has obviously been a primary factor in the voting process. Just look across the river at the floundering government of Augusta/ Richmond County. It doesn’t take an expert to figure out that Augusta/ Richmond County has much more potential than it will ever achieve. Primarily because progress is stymied by constant votes along racial lines by council members elected by, again, votes along racial lines. Does our council and our county not suffer somewhat from the same disease? To insinuate that race is not a factor is the stuff of fairy tales. You can’t make it go away by giving it the ostrich treatment and sticking your head in a hole.

In addition, take a look at how voting districts are laid out. The government sets us all up with this by laying out wacky voting districts to ensure that the madness continues. In essence the government has “egged” on the racial disharmony by instituting one reactionary policy after another. Sure money plays a role. But I wager the average citizen that goes to the pole on election day is not affected by money as much as they are by much more basic human factors. I do not believe the money plays a larger role until individual relationships between the elected officials, or relationships between elected officials and influential constituents, come into play.

At times voting along racially lines does not have an extremely negative end result and somewhat qualified people, black, white, whatever, manage to get in office. In defense of myself I did write “I think it is about time to hold the Black community responsible for their actions, in addition to those with no backbone that continue to go along with the ruse for their own benefit.” In essence saying race and greed. I do realize although I did not clearly state it that some people of other racial groups are guilty, but I do not believe this is the case with Dorn.

Finally, I want to clarify that I do not know Mr. Dorn personally and he may be a fine gentleman. I have no beef with Mr. Dorn on any level other than the fact that he does not appear to be effectively capable of doing the job he was elected to do for my district.

Editor's note: I am not disputing or confirming your commet, I just wish people would focus on the who, what, when, where, and how, of the things that take place. Is Norman Dorn a race baiting self-serving ideologue? You can judge for yourself. But do not stoop to his ignorant level. If you wrestle with a pig in slop - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it.

I am no longer standing in the back of the crowd. The people of Edgefield County need to step forward and take back our schools from the sorry excuse for an administration. RE:  "Bush: Job Ratings http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm

and

RE: "What a disgrace that some citizens of Edgefield County feel that we need people like Norman Dorn representing us....."

The idiot that posted the Bush ratings is exactly what the individual that posted the disgrace of Dorn as an elected official is talking about.  You notice the idiot did not post the ratings during Bush's first term.  Not only that, the idiot also omitted the fact that Bush had been ravaged for nine years by the socialist media-yes nine, one year while he was running for his first term.  The Big O's ratings are close to Bush and the media hasn't touched him.  Amazingly, the Big O has earned his ratings all by himself.

And the editor is correct "Editor's note: Do not be so conscious of the colors of skin: black and white. The color you should worry about is green (money). Remove the race issue, it is all about the money."

However, it is becoming quite apparent to a lot of Americans that those who have played the race card, who were elevated to their positions based on "equal opportunity" or "affirmative action" and not merit, are proving to be even more corrupt because they have gone unchecked for so long because the fearful race card was always played to slay their political opponents or anyone that questioned their policies or practices.

We need not lay the blame on any particular race, color, or creed, we need to oust all of these career political hacks.  What we should be doing besides voting on election day to get rid of these thieves, is to push for election reform, e.g., 1) Term Limits for all levels and all elected positions-by constitutional amendment; 2) Networth Limits-if you have a net worth of $10million-you are inelgible to run at any level; 3) If you receive government assistance-you can't vote; 4) If you don't pay taxes-you can't vote; 5) Legislate Voter Recall at every level to include the President-in every state for every elected position; 6) If you hold an elected position at any level, and you are delinquent on your taxes at any level-you immediately forfeit your seat and cannot seek public office ever again; 7) if you are a convicted felon-you can not hold any public office for 20 years; 8) No Photo ID-NO VOTE!; 9) If you are employed by a government agency at any level, you cannot hold a public office at any level at the same time. 10) If you hold a public office and you run for any other public office-you must resign your current position before you run.

That's a start.  Let the revolution continue.

Again, as the light is shown on activities in Edgefield county, the roaches run. Good for Mr. Biggs asking those questions at the meeting. As taxpayers we have a right to question where the money in this county is going and why. Mr. Dorn's reactions show that something is wrong with that whole picture. Why be so defensive if everything being done is good for the county as a whole? See, all taxpayers have a buy in here, not just folks who have lived here for a long time. Mr. Dorn's response that his family has owned property here for a long time is backward and ridiculous in the real world. Just because Mr. Biggs is a newer property owner does not mean he is any less qualified or justified to ask questions about where his tax money is going. It seems like the county does a lot of rather questionable things with our money and it needs to be answered for. Just look at the reaction of people when the truth of things comes to light. RE: Now all you right-wing idealogues, wipe the spittle from your mouth and the steam off your glasses.  Sit down, stop screaming, and order "Rules for Radicals."

Spoken like a true follower -- you tell them! Sit down and shut up! We should all be looking up to Alinsky, as he was a genius, just like the President and all his cronies (oops!) "colleagues". I mean, let's take a look at what a Progressive society is like. Ah, Detroit. The Model City of Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society". What a mecca of beauty and opportunity! A true "democracy" much like the world leader in health care, Cuba. (That must be the truth, since I heard it straight from Progressive Rep. Maxine Waters, D-CA.) The past 50 years of Progressive leadership has crushed the once vibrant city of Detroit straight into the gutter. On any given day you can partake in "equality" as everyone has an equal chance of being raped, murdered or robbed. Well, maybe not robbed since in a Communist or Marxist society you really don't have anything to steal. But maybe if there's anyone left with a store (hard to have a business in that type of town what with all the high taxes) you do have a great chance of being looted. Too bad you can't even defend yourself since Progressives are big on banning guns -- hence the "peace". And by justice, they mean "social justice" where everyone is treated the same, i.e. crushed down into poverty instead of lifted up into society. Yea, sounds great! And with an education system like the Progressives tout, we all can be indoctrinated and brainwashed into thinking that everyone lives as crappy a life as you do. After all, if you don't realize life can be any better, you won't aspire to anything better, thereby hopefully driving that evil Capitalist gene out of your DNA once and for all! Just keep cashing that Government check -- the Government will take care of every aspect of your life. Imagine, a nation of Federal workers! There really is nothing quite like the Progressive education system -- working hard to make all Americans as stupid as possible. Why, in Detroit alone $11,100 is spent per year, per student ($1,500 higher than the national average) yet only 25% of children actually graduate from high school. And after that stellar Government education, everyone must have "useful employment" -- calling all unions! Yes, unions have really worked out well for the UAW workers there in Detroit. Which is why so many doctors want to practice there. They should take a page from Progressive New York City's book and start handing out those pamphlets on how to safely shoot up heroin. They want to promote a "healthy" lifestyle, after all. Yes, those are values we can all aspire to. I've got a great idea, Mr. Poster. If you think that being a Marxist and living in a Progressive city is the way we should all live, why don't YOU go try it out first? Go spend a year in Detroit and send us updates on all the "opportunities" you've had. Yes, a real "chance to live by the values that give meaning to life." I hope you have a teenage daughter to take with you so she can experience the great Alinksy/Obama Utopia first hand. After all, that will be the future her children will "inherit". Remember, "the ends justify the means" -- what a great lesson for her to learn.

We should all read Saul Alinsky -- but we should be intelligent enough to know what the Progressive leader was actually talking about, and what following his doctrine would lead to.

Is James Clyburn (D) Rep an idiot or what?  He believes, and has stated, that we need not save our way out of debt, but we need to spend our way out of debt.  What an idiot!  In other words, pay your mortgage with your credit card. And then the first thing out of his mouth is to protect his voting base-the teachers.  The first thing is always education, education, education, and yet all of this money we have poured into the education system over the years has net us what-the poorest performing schools in the country, and ultimately in the world.  They've always got to protect their base!  They don't give a rats (rear-end) about our children or the education of our children.  They have highjacked the school system for their own political expediency.  They have used our children to advance their own agendas and to enrich themselves.  Look at what some of these people are being paid.  Crenshaw-$130K a year to run the school into the ground.  If she had to run a real company-she'd have been fired by now.  Clinkscales-$90K a year-same thing, fired-and there's at least 2 teachers there-after all up until a few years ago-Crenshaw, Clinkscales' job never existed and they did well without it, but now that's one more vote.  All members of the school board-fired.  Last year they all new they were having to curtail their budgets, but instead of trimming fat and waste, they counted on the Stimulus to carry them one more year.  Great way to run something.  Now, instead of getting rid of teachers, what's their answer-cut school days.  Yeah, they really have our children's education at heart.  NOPE!  All they want to protect is their voting base-the teachers.  Sorry guys and gals, just because you're a teacher doesn't give you a job for life.  If you were employed by any other business or company and budget cuts were necessary, you'd have been laid off.  Stop using our children for your own perpetual employment.  Smart teachers would be looking for a job anyway cause that boat is sinking as fast as the unionized auto industry-it just won't sustain itself.  And hey, the next time you're in the voting booth-VOTE idiots like Clyburn, Cooks, Bibbs Jackson, Kneece, Dorn, Bright out off office.  Skin color is irrelevant-Merit is everything-Get these BUMS OUT!

What a disgrace that some citizens of Edgefield County feel that we need people like Norman Dorn representing us. I am starting to think that the problem is not the wayward self/ racially motivated council member as much as it is the fools that continue to vote for them. Do these voters realize that people like Dorn and Bright aren’t doing them any favors by wasting their tax dollars on building and improvement projects on land the County does not own.

It’s as if the council members are taking money directly from their pockets and they seem to be happy about it. You cannot possibly tell me this happens because someone less qualified is running against Dorn, etc… The only logical answer is the one that people seem to be increasingly afraid to address. That is that despite what the liberal media, the charlatans Sharpton, Jackson and Farrakhan and others continue to allege that there are other bigots, racists and evils besides us average white southern Christian males.

Give me a better explanation for those Dorn’s out there who continue to get elected despite the fact that they are wholly unqualified and incapable of performing the needed service they were elected to perform for the citizens of Edgefield County. It is obviously racially motivated voting. I think it is about time to hold the Black community responsible for their actions, in addition to those with no backbone that continue to go along with the ruse for their own benefit.

By the way if spending our limited tax dollars on building and improvement projects on privately held land that is leased by the County is going to continue- why can’t I get in on the action? I will lease the county some land, let the county and its taxpayers make many improvements, void the lease, and then let the taxpayers pay me to use the improved property/ facilities that siphoned off their hard earned dollars. Genius!? And what idiots let it happen? Meanwhile our infrastructure (roads, etc… ) and education programs are going down the tubes.

Maybe the county can come up with more taxpayer funds to provide us all with mules to get down the trail to these leased facilities, since our roads are reverting to wagon trails. In addition we will need guides because everyone will be too uneducated to read a map and figure out how to get there, due to the lack of emphasis on our children’s education!

HERE IS MY PLATFORM:

(2). We will immediately go into a two year isolationist  attitude in order to straighten out the greedy big business posture in this country. America will allow NO imports,  and we'll do no exports.     We will use the policy,   'If  we  ain't got it, you don't need it.' We'll make it here and sell it here!

(3). When imports are allowed, there will be a 100% import tax on it coming in here.

(4). All retired military personnel will be required to man one of the many observation towers located on the southern border of the United States  (six month tour). They will be under strict orders not to fire on  SOUTHBOUND  aliens.

(5). Social Security will immediately return to its original state. If you didn't put nuttin in, you ain't gettin nuttin out. Neither the President nor any other politician will be able to touch it.

(6). Welfare. -- Checks will be handed out on Fridays, at the end of the 40 hour school week or Volunteering, the successful completion of a urinalysis test for drugs, and passing grades.

(7). Professional Athletes -- Steroids?  The FIRST time you check positive you're banned from sports ... for life.

(8). Crime -- We will adopt the Turkish method,  i.e.,  the  first  time you steal,  you lose your right hand. There is no more 'life sentences'. If convicted of murder, you will be put to death by the same method you chose for the victim you killed: gun, knife, strangulation,  etc.

(9). One export of ours will be allowed: wheat; because the world needs to eat.. However, a bushel of wheat will be the exact price of a barrel of oil.

(10). All foreign aid, using American taxpayer money, will immediately cease and the saved money will help to pay off the national debt and, ultimately, lower taxes. When disasters occur around the world, we'll ask The American People if they want to donate to a disaster fund, and each citizen can make the decision as to whether, or not, it's a worthy cause.

(11). The Pledge of Allegiance  will  be said  every  day at  school and  every  day  in  Congress.

(12). The National Anthem  will  be played at all appropriate ceremonies,  sporting events,  outings, etc.

My apology is offered if I've stepped on anyone's toes .... nevertheless....

According to the bylaws on the school web site, Article IV, Section 13 state “Directors shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, and shall hold at least a high school diploma or its equivalent.”  Until
an Augusta attorney was illegally elected several years ago, the bylaws required a person be a SC resident (but the board, lead by the big four of questionable ethics, changed the bylaws after the fact).
Since so much of their actions take place out of the public eye, this illegal move was not challenged.  While looking for bylaws, I found the following notice posted on the web site:

SPECIAL ELECTION NOTICE:  A seat on the Board of Directors is open as the result of a Director's resignation.  Applications will be taken until Friday, February 5th at 4:00 p.m. in the main office of the
school by Mrs. Volkmar.  The ballot will be approved and released on Monday, February 8th at 6:00 p.m.  The special election will be held on Thursday, February 11th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

I just wonder what caused a director to resign. This is unprecedented and there must be something going on that in not yet public. It is important that a member be elected since the board, by law, must have at least seven members.  It will be interesting to see who the chair handpicks to get elected. (Only employees and parents of students can vote, but anyone can run).  IF I could vote, I would
support a person who has been involved with the school but does not have a kid at the school.

I say 3 cheers to the Republican Women in Edgefield (County) forming their own group. It's obvious that the men can't get anything done. I say Yea to Mrs. Pettigrew and everyone that turned out for the meeting. (State) Rep. Nikki Haley is getting things done at the state level and Mrs. Blackwell (Councnty Council - Merriwether) stood her ground on the budget last year. Sometimes it takes a woman to clean up the mess the men make!!!!! I can't vote for Mrs. Blackwell but I can and will vote for Nikki Haley for Governor.

In Washington, D.C. an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation's capital and was well known among the elected officials. He motioned for his nurse to come near.

"Yes, Father?" said the nurse.
"I would really like to see President Obama and Speaker Pelosi before I die", whispered the priest.
"I'll see what I can do, Father", replied the nurse.

The nurse sent the request to The President and Congress and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived; President Obama and Nancy Pelosi would be delighted to visit the priest..

As they went to the hospital, Obama commented to Pelosi, "I don't know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help our images and might even get me re-elected." Pelosi agreed that it was a good thing.

When they arrived at the priest's room, the priest took Obama's hand in his right hand and Pelosi's hand in his left hand. There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest's face.

Finally President Obama spoke.. "Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?"

The old priest slowly replied, "I have always tried to pattern my life after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

"Amen", said Obama. "Amen", said Pelosi.

The old priest continued, "Jesus died between two lying thieves; I would like to do the same."
