Editor's post: I was taken aback when I noticed no other
media outlet covered the budget meeting of the county council on
Tuesday. I guess they do not consider the county council members laying
out how they intend to spend your tax dollars news worthy. Edgefield
Daily has covered every budget workshop, session, special called
meeting, for the past five years and will continue to do so in order to
provide readers with the most up to date news from your county
government. A copy of the budget will be placed online once it receives
a first reading. Something else no other media outlet provides to
readers.
I guess that is one of the reasons Edgefield Daily remains the most
widely read media outlet in Edgefield County.

I am both concerned and mad---i live on

year old german shephard female, who by the way is the smartest and
sweetest dog i have ever known. Sugar went for her afternoon run around
our 150 acre property only to return poisoned by someone using
anti-freeze. A practice is to mix anti-freeze with hamburger meat and
cast out the balls of meat for animals to eat.the anti-freeze causes a
cruel death most certain in almost all who eat it, first attacking the
kidneys and causing ir-reparable damage which leads to certain death.
(name removed) we are having to watch the second dog of ours that has
suffered similar suffering and death. Three other dogs disappeared
never to be seen again (3 were together when they disappeared several

In my opinion there are no real pro life
Democrats in Congress. The ones that voted no were allowed to vote
their constituency by Pelosi when she knew she had enough votes. Isn't
that a unique thought-vote your constituency? Isn't that what they are
suppose to do, represent their districts? Good grief!!! As far as Berry
from AR (retiring), he didn't have to face an election in 2010-easy no
vote. I say vote them all out and start over, including a lot of the
Rino (Republican in name only) Republicans. They will vote whatever way
best helps them. Lindsey Graham is first to go on my list. Republicans
better stand for the conservative views that have helped this country
or I say get vote them out.

Re: “Barack Obama is the best thing that
has happened to America in the last 100 years.
No truer words have never been spoken. Our President, President Barack
Obama, and the Democrat party are the best thing that has ever happened
to America in 8 years. For 8 long years we lived under falsehood and a
fake sense of security. It wasn’t until 2008 that we begin to see
exactly what had been done under closed doors. Our country had been
sold away to the highest bidder. Big companies and banks only worried
about their net growth. Under this condition, big businesses and banks
assumed that they had a free meal ticket. Then along came President
Obama and the Democrats in January. The first thing they did was to set
rules concerning the people money. Then the Repub-party of Tea began to
call foul. This was their playhouse and for the Democrats to come in
and try to give it back to the people was not going to be tolerated. So
they begin to send out false rumors and give out daily polls to make
the Democrats retreat. They tried to use fear to hold back the
Democrats. As usual, when fear does not work, they begin to promote
violence. But the Democrat prevailed but the Repub-party of Tea has
taken away “reality”. When the Repub-party of Tea decided to pay Sarah
Palin to be their frontrunner, reality has been lost. Sarah Palin who
is being supported by the money people to spread hatred and distrust is
their spokesperson. Someone who is so far away from reality, that her
show was cancelled before it even started: http://dagblog.com/humor-satire/sarah-palin-show-canceled-due-lack-reality-3230
. It may be rescued but not at the price she and her
sponsors wanted - a million a show.
Editor's note: The Obama
Administration is more secretive than the Bush Administration. Bush
never had to bribe senators to get votes either. Oh, but Obama is using
tax dollars for that, so it's okay. People who get a check from the
government don't understand it the way people who write checks to the
government do.

WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER, EVER QUESTION A
DRUNK...
I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:
A half-gallon of 2% milk
A carton of eggs
A quart of orange juice
A head of lettuce
A 2 lb. can of coffee
A 1 lb. package of bacon
As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a
drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the
cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk
calmly stated, 'You must be single.'
I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the
derelict's intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right.
I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly
unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my
marital status.
Curiosity getting the better of me, I said, 'Yes you are correct. But
how on earth did you know that?'
The drunk replied, 'Cause you’re ugly.’

Congressman "Judas" Stupak and his 12
so-called "pro-life" Dems caved in Sunday, and sold their souls to vote
"pro-abortion" and fund child-killing on an unprecedented scale.
While Stupak's own web-site boasted his district suddenly received over
$700,000 for airport upgrades, "coincidentally" two days before he sold
his vote to kill children for a phony executive order, which President
Obama knows cannot overrule his new "health" care law that funds
abortion. Two Democrats both admitted the executive order is a sham,
that will not reduce abortion funds by even one penny. The new
abortion funds in the Senate bill, which just passed with HR 4872 on a
219-212 vote, "can't be changed by executive order, because an
executive order can't change the law," admitted pro-abortion
Democrat Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) on Fox News. Retiring Democrat
Marion Berry (D-AR), one of just a handful to courageously vote against
the bill, agreed: "Despite the recently announced Executive Order
addressing this issue, I remain concerned that this legislation does
not go far enough to satisfy my concerns. As a pro-life Member of
Congress, I believe that abortion is fundamentally wrong, and taxpayer
money should not be allowed to support it."
If only Stupak had such a conscience as Berry.
Watch YouTube Video:
Bart Stupak admits (on secret hidden camera) he planed to betray
pro-lifers one year ago. Click link below.
https://secure.conservativedonations.com/pijn_stupak_repeal_he/?a=3982
Obama's proposed executive order contained two false statements:
1) "The Act maintains current Hyde Amendment restrictions governing
abortion policy and extends those restrictions to the newly-created
health insurance exchanges." The new law does no such thing, and
never did, or there would be no need for this misleading executive
order, that won't stand up to any court challenge, so abortions will be
funded by law.
2) "Under the Act, longstanding Federal laws to protect conscience
(such as the Church Amendment, 42 U.S.C.300a-7, and the Weldon
Amendment, Pub. L. No. 111-8,?508d-1) remain intact...prohibit[ing]
discrimination against...health care providers because of an
unwillingness to provide...abortions." The National Right To Life
Committee rebuked Obama's false statement, saying, "Nor can the order
correct the omission from the pending legislation of the necessary
conscience-protection language ... (the 'Weldon language')."
The truth is, Obama signed a law funding abortions, without conscience
protection. That law must be repealed, or the courts will enforce
the new law, and ignore the phony EO.

Harry's new car
Sen. Reid goes to a local GM dealer in Washington, D.C. with the
intention of buying a brand new vehicle. Harry looks around and
finds one he likes. After going back and forth with the salesman, Harry
settles on a price of $45,000.
Harry and the salesman go back to the office to complete the paperwork.
Harry works out a 4-year payment plan, and signs on the bottom line.
The salesman shakes Harry's hand and says, "Thanks Senator Reid, the
car will be ready for pickup in 4 years."
Harry says, "What are you talking about? Where are the keys to my
new car?"
The salesman replies, "No, you don't understand Senator. You make
payments for 4 years... THEN we give you the car. You know, just
like your health care plan".
Harry, with a choking voice, says to the salesman, "But that's not
fair". And the salesman say's: "Well Harry, that's just another
reason why 75% of the American people didn't want Obama Care"!

Barack Obama is the best thing that has
happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the
savior of America's future. He is the best thing ever. Barack
Obama has awakened a sleeping nation
Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among
recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of
America's resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into
levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts
to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance
nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little
positive effect on the national economy; Unemployment is unacceptably
high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade. Legacy
entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there
is a seething anger in the populace. That's why Barack Obama is
such a good thing for America .
Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our
society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is
the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of
unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where
it could no longer be ignored.
Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a
paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high
school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the
beach or on hunting trips - they've gotten off the fence. They've
woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that
we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has
been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American
political and social consciousness.
Think of the crap we've slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50
years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the
symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world.
Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare
policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a
cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to
lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been
taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of
them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy.
Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their
own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms.
Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden
of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around,
reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and
"disabilities." Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested,
coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again.
Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and
business people with dubious torts.
We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in
disbelief, and we went on with our lives.
But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of
dissatisfaction and unrest. In the time of Barack Obama, Black
Panther members stand outside polling places in black commando
uniforms, slapping truncheons into their palms. ACORN - a
taxpayer-supported organization - is given a role in taking the census,
even after its members were caught on tape offering advice to set up
child prostitution rings. A former Communist is given a paid
government position in the White House as an advisor to the
president. Auto companies are taken over by the government,
and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely
insupportable in any economic
sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails
out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who
pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public
support. Terrorists are read their
Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming
public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care
plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.
I don't know about you, but the other day I was at the courthouse
doing some business, and I stepped into the court clerk's office and
changed my voter affiliation from "Independent" to "Republican."
I am under no illusion that the Republican party is perfect, but at
least they're starting to awaken to the fact that we cannot sustain
massive levels of debt; we cannot afford to hand out billions of
dollars in corporate subsidies; we have to somehow trim our massive
entitlement programs; we can no longer be the world's policeman and
dole out billions in aid to countries whose
citizens seek to harm us.
Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They're organizing,
they're studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they're
reading history and case law, they're showing up at rallies and
meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats
into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense
that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities
must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent
revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation
of the original document that has guided us for 220 years - the
Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political
correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete
repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from
now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got
back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack
Hussein Obama.

RE: The ones who have worked hard, many
times two jobs, and have sacrificed to try to do it right are the ones
who are getting punished. We are the ones left with only "change" in
our pockets.
My Response Again: I live in the real world. In the real world, the
billionaires are still billionaires. In the real world, banks and the
industrial companies made millions of dollars. In the real world, I
know that the majority of people do have health insurance. In the real
world, I know that majority of people are sinking deeper and deeper in
debt. In the real world I am told that the cost of living is down. In
the real world, people who furnish my basic needs are constantly
raising the cost of those needs. In the real world, I am told that the
insurance companies have given their lobbyist millions of dollars to
stop a health reform bill that they say will hurt us financially. I
live in the real world, and in the real world the insurance companies
do not have my best interest at heart. They would never pay millions of
dollars to my doctor and hospital for me and my health. In the real
world, I see people who work 40 hours plus a
week and cannot
afford health insurance because of the high cost. In the real world, I
know doctors who are afraid to label a child with asthma or cancer
because that child and their family will never be able to get quality
insurance for that child. In the real world, I know people who have
reached their limits with their insurance and kickoff without any
compassion. In the real world, general practitioners are the lifeline
for majority of the people who have no insurance. In the real world,
the insurance company decides exactly what procedures you can have and
what bill is paid. In the real world, doctors hands are tied because of
what insurance says is covered and not. In the real world, Toyota sent
a memo out in 2002 telling the federal government and their dealers
that there was a problem with their cars. In the real world, this
information was swept under the rug until new leadership took over. In
the real world, bankers were allowed to milk our
economy dry. This happened under the previous leadership. In the real
world, billions of dollars were given away in Iraq and our government
was never able to recover it. In the real world, small businesses
cannot afford insurance for themselves so there’s no way they can
supply insurance for their workers. In the real world, most people do
not have a choice between work and retirement because of the economy
collapse. In the real world, the party that paid a major role in this
mess is the one hollering foul. In the real world, money people really
think we, the middle class, is dumb. In the real world, they try to
convince us that we would not be in the shape we are in if it hadn’t
been for 8 years of poor leadership. In the real world, we are going to
have to join together to get ourselves out of hole that was dug for
eight years. In the real world, I will use my knowledge and not be led
blindly by people who never had my interest
at heart. In the real world, I am going to continue to pray to God for
my country. I live in the real world, in the real world, in the real
world.

HELLO !!!! Would someone kindly explain to me what it is with
this area that some STILL feel that they have to fan the flames of an
era of almost 150 years ago????? I grew up in a deep
Southern state just as involved in slavery and the war. In
school we were taught about slavery / Civil War / etc. as an
unfortunate and regretable fact of history. But no one I know
dwells on it today. In all the years I lived in yet another
Southern state, don't think I ever heard the terms "Slavery", Civil
War", ad naseum, mentioned even once !!
Then I moved to this area--and I find some people seem totally obsessed
with living in the past. HELLO AGAIN !!!!!--- God placed eyes in
FRONT of our heads, not behind. He screwed our heads on to face
FORWARD, not backward. Yes, grave injustices have happened,
but you cannot undo the past. BUT you can learn from the past, live in
the present, and plan for the future.
On Judgement Day, we will not give an account of what others
have done -- past. present, or future, but how WE have treated others
during our lives. St. Paul put it rather plainly when he said,
"...forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to
those things which are ahead." (Phil 3: 13).
'Nuff said.

them, gave them a roof over their head. They gained all of this by
working for it. Yes some were treated harshly, and others were treated
with respect. As a matter of fact, when they were freed, some did not
want to leave their "family".
The difference today is the race and makeup of those you would love to
label slaves. Now you have a melting pot when before it was just Black
People. When looking at all studies and data collected about people who
are receiving assistance from the Federal government, numerically you
have more Whites than Blacks. Even in South Carolina the record holds
except for counties who practice and preach racial bias. So when you
speak of slaves, you are talking about your family, my family, their
family, and his family. Everyone knows someone who is receiving help
from the Federal government. Everyone knows someone who depends on the
Federal government for their basic needs. When looking at dollar per
dollar, there would be no deficit if Blacks were the only ones
receiving assistance. It just not enough Black people in America to
make that big a difference,
As far as home sales go, do you really believe the banks and mortages
companies was loaning money to people in poverty? These were working
people, Black and White. I have never understood how a financial
institute would say that they were helping a family when they give them
a loan whose interest is 3 times higher than the home is worth. Please
explain that logic to me. But I will give you one point, there will
always be good people who people will hate to leave no matter the color
or situation. That's called love. And believe me, the love was returned.
Oh yeah, KKK & NAACP: One was created by Whites to torture and kill
Blacks and anyone who was assisting Blacks in their fight for freedom.
They wore robes and head gear to hide their identity. One was created
by Whites to help the Blacks in their struggle for freedom. Everything
was done in the open and nonviolence. Do you know which was which?

Amen. The whites, and primarily the Republican Party, has always
been blamed for slavery. But until they succeed in re-writing
that part of history, I believe there were a lot of white soldiers that
gave their lives to abolish slavery. I also recall there was a
civil rights bill passed in the mid 60's by those racist
Republicans. It was the Democrats that actually opposed the bill.
If you take an honest look at it, slavery still exists today, but just
like everything else the Democrats do, they rename it, to mask the true
intent. Remember how they renamed National Healthcare to Public
Option. Sounds better, doesn't it. But its the same thing
only disguised by a name.
Tell me what the difference is: When slavery existed, slaves had
a white headmaster, that fed them, clothed them, gave them a roof over
their head. They gained all of this by working for it. Yes some were
treated harshly, and others were treated with respect. As a
matter of fact, when they were freed, some did not want to leave their
"family".
Now, you have the white slave masters, the Democrats, that have given
them welfare, food stamps, public housing, countless school programs
that act as daycare, and free health care. The only difference
is, now they don't have to work. They live in drug and crime invested
neighborhoods, and actually have a lot less self respect. That
truly is a shame and it breaks my heart every time I see what has been
done to these people by the very Party that says they are for the
people. And worse yet, they've also been done this way by their
own. They are still enslaved, its just not an overt slavery, and
it's not called slavery. Let's see, um ah, Affirmative Action, a,
Public Assistance, a, Public Housing? I always thought these were
a proud people, but the more I see, the more badly I feel. They
have no dignity and they have lost their self respect.
Yeah, some will say they have dignity cause they are fighting for the
struggle. What struggle? To get out of the cyclical morass
the vaunted Democrat programs have chained you to? I don't know
one white person that does not respect any hard working self respected
black person, or any person for that matter. But I do know a lot
of white people that have a great disdain and distrust for ALL lazy,
hand-out driven, entitlement mentality, government mooching people,
white, black, or whatever.
I pray every day that some day, a true leader for the black people will
rise up and truly break the chains and lead their people to equality
through hard work, dignity, and self respect. If your looking for
that from Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan, Rangle, Clyburn, Dorn, Bright,
Bibbs, Cooks, Crenshaw, you will continue to be enslaved-they already
have theirs, and they also have you where they want you.

For too long we have been too complacent
about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress
members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they
didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted
themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt
from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary
citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves
from the Healthcare Reform that they recently passed..in all of its
forms. They passed that one to "CONTROL" the American people. We
should not have an elite that is above the law applied to ordinary
citizens. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican,
Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way
to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United
States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives;

Obama Finds Legal Way Around The 2nd
Amendment And Uses It.
If This Passes, There Will Be WAR. On Wednesday Obama Took
the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United
States.
On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a
plan to ban all firearms in the United States. The Obama
administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on
all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international
treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties
on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US
State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in
Congress. Once the US Government signs these international
treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws
created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been
developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and
individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws
are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation
of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of
gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before
US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before
the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any
legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun
control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary
Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun
control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means
is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or
votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the
United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm
and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake
up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that
prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will
wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty
that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local
government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government
health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through
whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on
Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to
regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a
stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State
Department, overturns the position of former President George W.
Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds
that national controls were better. View The Full Article Here:

year and this year have gone the extra mile to try and help her. After
many discussions with her teachers and the guidance counselor last
year, it was suggested to me we move her into a special class to get
some extra help. The improvement in her grades were noticeable almost
immediately, but the biggest boost was in her confidence level.
My daughter is still behind in English and Reading, but thanks to the
extra time she spends in the special class she gets the extra help she
needs and a much needed boost to her self esteem. Now JET is
considering doing away with such classes in order to have a classroom
to house disruptive students. Classes like the one my daughter is in
are necessary to help these children who find it difficult to learn in
a regular class room environment. Doing away with such classes to try
and solve discipline problems with children who have no desire to
learn, only hurts the children who do want to learn.
Punish the students who deserve it, but don’t do so by punishing the

As someone who was a Liberal and is now a Conservative, I could write a

Sitting in front of his computer, deep in the dark basement, wearing

bears a strong resemblance to Donna Reed, slowly closes the door.

have to actually be informed about what's going on to get what's on Jon

be) to accept anything that comes out of Beck's mouth. Beck's MO is to
do exactly 5 minutes of research on any given topic (which is 5 minutes
more than his average audience member will ever do) and pawn that

Is Barney overtly threatening stockholders or just hoping for their

Editor, we really enjoy the site, but a
little constructive criticism if you don’t mind. I think it would be a
good idea to post a little more detail about some of the crimes taking
place in the county. An example would be the burglaries. Often we are
informed of where the crime took place, what time, what door was
entered, items stolen, etc... I think it would help us better prevent
the crimes if we also knew a little more about how these guys are
choosing their victims and why. Especially after they have been
arrested/detained. For instance the guys busted for the Mays Way
incident – what made them believe that residence was vulnerable? How do
they approach these residences? In other words what was their MO?
On another note, I believe all of the pundits, blathering self
interested politicians and far sighted partisans are missing the point
of the Health Care debate. The reason I am personally ticked off about
Health Care Reform, and I feel there are many others like me, is not
because I feel that there is something wrong with helping disadvantaged
individuals, but because the government is already taking in more than
enough tax dollars to ensure all Americans are taken care of. The
government is already taking in more than enough tax dollars to
maintain the country’s infrastructure. The government is already taking
in more than enough tax dollars to maintain our security. Congress is
wasting what we already are contributing, why should we give them any
more to waste? Too many of our tax dollars are being wasted outside the
borders of this country. What remains is wasted by the self serving in
Washington on perks and pork. Don’t really want to see it, but can you
say “Revolution”. I bet the next generation or two of Americans will
know the word well.
Speaking of wasted tax dollars, look at the money wasted on the Census.
I would hate to know the budget wasted on this fiasco that seems to be
aimed primarily at counting minorities. Think of how many people could
have been actually helped with that money. Commercials, paid actors,
billboards, etc… Even race car sponsorships?! Waste on repeated
mailings such as, “The Census is Coming …”, “The Census is Coming …”,
“THE Census form”, “You should be receiving a Census form …”. I am
expecting more mailings such as “Did you get the Census form …”, “Have
you sent the Census form in …”, “We are going to lock you up and throw
away the key if we think you didn’t fill out a Census form …”. We do
not need to count the fools as Americans who need to have this much
notification to fill out a simple form. Nor should we count among us as
Americans the fools that thought all of this notification was
necessary.
And the poor, poor, underfunded, suffering Postal Service has to
deliver all of the mailings. Well over 50% of our mail consist of “junk
mail” including Census junk. We do not need to continue to prop up an
organization that devotes a good portion of its energy serving
commercial ventures with adds, junk mailings, etc… Most of this goes
directly in the trash (or recycle bin). And it’s a waste of trees as
well. There is a still a need for a service to deliver personal
correspondence, etc… but I bet the personal mailings have fallen off
dramatically with the advent of all of the technology available today.
The postal service could save tons of money by going to a five day
service and increasing postage dramatically on the “junkers”. Nuff
Said. Thanks.
Editor's note: Investigators tell me that there are many factors, and
some that don't make sense, in how homes are targeted. A list of things

there to help folks like you but there are too many abuses in the

not solve people's problems. It enables them to remain in a cycle of
need. Liberals do not recognize, or they won't admit, the damage they
do in the "attitude" of helping everyone. They only help
themselves. It is like the poster to this site that asked when an
election was won on anger alone. Have they forgotten the awful way
President Bush was attacked and hated? How do they think Obama ever got
a platform to be elected? How truly unwise they are.
I have to laugh at liberals who plead for the poor. What do they
personally do to help the poor? Some are probably generous but I would
guess a lot just talk. Are they the ones working the soup kitchens?
Usually those are the people of faith and they are not, as a whole,
liberals. I wonder how many of these liberals really sacrificially
give. I say "Put your money where your mouth is". All you have to do is
look at the giving record of Joe Biden. He is a disgrace to the idea of
charitable giving yet he has no problem wanting to take my money. I
want to give to real needs and to chose who I give to. I don't want the
government telling what to do with my giving.
If Obama really cared about the poor, don't you think he would be just

How do you catch a wild pig?
You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and
putting corn on the ground.. The pigs find it and begin to come
everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day,
you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to
coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn
again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that
and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of
the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the
free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, then you slam the
gate on them and catch the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and
around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to
eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten
how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their
captivity.
This is exactly what I see happening to America . The government keeps
pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in
the form of programs such as health care, supplemental income, tax
credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies,
payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc..
While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.
One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch!
Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than
you can do it yourself.
If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then God
help you when the gate slams shut!

I have received many pictures similar to the ones sent with the email
regarding a particular candidate. Due to the pictures containing the
images of others who are
not running for office (although one county department head is featured
in some of them) and the fact they would cause undue public
embarrassment on their part, the
pictures are not being made public. I
have turned some over to our legal council for advice on publication if
they become relevant. You are welcome to continue to send the pictures,
but do not expect them to be published in the Wandering Minds. They
will only be made public if the content is deemed news worthy in the
election and has been cleared for publication by our legal council - at
which time they would be featured in a news report with comments from

Gee, a person upset about getting bills
for a service rendered. That "take care of me mentality" at any cost is
what is the problem. How many uninsured people have an HD TV, cell
phone, etc.? Granted those are nice to have but do they protect you
when you are sick? They are not necessities, they are wants. Maybe you
honestly need the help. There needs to be real health reform in this
country. You know what? This bill may not help you . It may require you
to buy health insurance whether you want it or not. Then you won't be
getting bills from the hospital, you will be getting threats from the
IRS. Good luck with that!
Where does this "take care of me" mentality come from? Why should l
give you what I worked for? I am not rich but I have taken
responsibility for myself and my family. I sacrifice and don't have all
the bells and whistles a lot of people have because I can't afford
them. You have no right to what is mine. I don't owe you anything. I
pay my bills, work hard and instill in my children a work ethic. Gee, a
work ethic. Where is that thought these days? Not being in debt-where
is that thought today? We live in a self-centered, "give me because I
deserve it" thinking world.
The ones who have worked hard, many times two jobs, and have sacrificed
to try to do it right are the ones who are getting punished. We are the
ones left with only "change" in our pockets.

Since I am still waiting for the "Health
Care Bill" to be posted on the internet, I can only surmise what the
full effect will be from what is reported by the various "talking
heads". After hearing Neal Bortz list the new taxes that will
take effect, I have to say that this is not a "Health Care Bill".
It is another massive shift of wealth and power. It is, in short,
a tax bill that was sold to those who think they are getting something
for nothing. Sadly, there is "no free lunch", and this bill
brings us yet another step closer to the inevitable day when America
will have to recognize that it is bankrupt.
Our current "prosperity" is due to the continuous printing of money for
one program after another. We are conditioned more and more to
look to government for solutions to our problems. Even the census
is
touted as a vehicle to divvy up government largesse. America is a
wonderful place, but it impossible to legislate Utopia.
Please read the constitution of both the United States and South
Carolina. Limited government is the key. In my opinion
every program that has ever been created by government continues to
grow while the
private sector continues to shrink. If one were to list those
government programs that have shrunk or been allowed to "sunset", I
think one would find that the list is a small one. Sadly, we lost
our understanding of what it means to pay your bills within the means
at hand. I have to apologize to my children for what we have wrought.

to finance my troubles or pay my way in this world. Where do you get
off accusing me and others of having attitudes against the
poor?!! I used to be poor! It took thirty years to finally
get ahead for me. My brother and sisters worked (without
handouts) and paid our way through college. We were first generation in
our family to go. We paid for it with loans and part time jobs (before
the lottery money existed), and we paid them back! Nobody gave us
anything! When money ran out, we worked a year, saved, and then went
back. We didn't expect wealthy people to cough up a dime; we were
thankful for the chance to go to college-- never angry because
someone's richer kids went with an easier time. We hung out with people
like ourselves and didn't covet the livestyles of others we saw. We did
without, bought stuff from 2nd hand stores, sewed our clothes,
scrimped, and spent money on only books and food. We didn't have our
nails and hair done, use Visa cards and eat out. My first car cost $100
and I bought it myself, saved up for new tires, never ate out, and at
one time -- worked 3 part-time jobs. I struggled, but never complained
as you do. The Republicans you jeer at have worked hard and sacrificed
for what they have. I don't want to be in your political party,
because I don't whine as you do. Where do you people get off thinking
us well-to-do people became prosperous without a struggle??!! You've

tired Democrat "sit down and shut up" mantra. Insulting yes,

Disgusting. What are you going to do when Obama runs out of money and

I'm not rich. I was raised in a single-parent household. My mother

wearing hand-me-downs. We had no car, no washer or dryer, no TV. I was
a sickly kid who doctors thought might have Leukemia but thanks to
God's touch, I was spared from that. My mom always paid the bills --
without child support, SCHIP, Medicaid, food stamps or any other
handout from the Government. She did it without whining or complaining,
without spewing bitterness over what the Government "owed" her or what
"rights" they should bestow on her. She made sure I was raised to
think, to use my God given gifts of intelligence and independence. I
was raised to never fall in line and follow, to always question, to not
trust until a person proved they were worthy of that trust. And most
importantly, she taught me to beware of people like you. I see behind
your mask, I know who you are and what your game is. You don't fool me,

Dear "I am 63 and tired:"
Hell, I'm only 49 and I am as tired as you. Not only am I tired
of the same things you outlined, I am tired of a little more.
Although I served our country and am a retired veteran, I cannot say
that I am tired of serving my country, or sacrificing to ensure our
fellow Americans live in peace and in the greatest, most prosperous,
most generous country in the world- because I volunteered.
However, I can say that I am tired of my fellow Americans. I am
tired of those that will not stand up and fight, and I am not asking
them to go to real combat, but to fight on the Domestic home front.
I am tired of those that complain about our schools, the way our county
is being run, the waste of taxpayer money at the local level, the
corruption in politics at the local level, the ruination of our
schools, the back door deals at the local level, but will not stand up
to fight.
I am tired of those that whine and complain at the local level, but
can't take 5 minutes out of their "busy" schedules to write a letter,
to make a phone call, to voice an opinion, to talk to their neighbors,
to attend a school board meeting, to attend a county council meeting,
to read the local news, to visit a school, to visit a child in school,
or in some cases, to even vote.
Funny, they have the time to whine and complain or to gossip to others
about who did this and who did that, and why everything is so screwed
up.
Funny, they have time to sit in front of the tv to watch American Idol,
Desperate Housewives, or whatever, football, baseball, basketball, the
Masters, etc, but they don't have time to get involved in their
community.
Funny, they have time to sit at a computer to "Twitter", to update
their "Facebook" or "Myspace" page, to play on-line games, or to sit in
chat rooms, but they can't take 5 minutes to write an email to their
senator, congressman, county council member, school board member, and
hit the "Send" button.
I am also so very tired of people complaining but are afraid to stand
up because they need their job, oooo, or they are afraid if they speak
up they'll be targeted and fired. In other words, they'll see
corruption and not make it known? They'll witness wrongs, and not
let them be known? They'll witness crimes, and not let them be
known? All because they are afraid of losing their job?
Something is just not right about that. Sounds like a lack of
planning- go find another job, then raise the flag, then if you're
targeted you have a backup plan. But that would take effort, that
would take work, that would take courage.
Our founding fathers were not afraid to take a stand, thank God.
Our fellow citizens in the military are not afraid to take a stand,
thank God. Our 1st responders are not afraid to respond to others who
need help, thank God.
So Mr. 63, please don't retire yet. I am, as well as you are,
very tired. But we must not retire! We must continue one
more time and fight the fight, for if we don't, who will? I ask
you, my brother, my fellow citizen, to serve your fellow American one
more time. We must get organized and fight this fight come
November 2010 and 2012. We must get out and talk to others, knock
on doors, educate others, organize others, motivate others to get
involved. We must take back our country. We must cut out
the cancer at the lowest level and work our way up. From every
race to every election, from school board elections, to mayoral races,
to county council, to state houses, to federal races, we need to get
involved, take back our country.
America has always been slow to anger, but has always been victorious
in her response. America fought and resisted world pressure
to stay out of WWII. It took Pearl Harbor to rally the
nation, and we were victorious. America fought and resisted
waging a war against terrorism of which had been attacking us for
decades after the Iranian hostage crisis. It took 9/11 to rally
the nation, and we have been victorious. America has fought and
resisted the constant forces pulling our nation into the abyss of
Socialism. This Administration with their agenda of Health Care,
Cap and Trade, Immigration, the takeover of banks, the takeover of the
auto industry, and the hideous expanse of Federal Governent control is
our Pearl Harbor, our 9/11. We must rally as a nation, defeat
this socialism, and be victorious. If not for our neighbors, for
our children, for our grandchildren.
I have always taught my children- if you ever borrow something, when
you return it, return it in the same shape, or in better shape then
when you received it. Mr. 63, you and I have had America for 5+
decades, we must return her to our children and grandchildren, in the
same or better shape than we received her.

Is it immoral to ask God to protect unborn life?
Is it immoral to ask God to protect the nation that was founded on His
principles and has been a light in this world (until recently) ?
Is it immoral to ask God to protect us from those that so blatantly
disregard our Constitution and founding principles?
Is it immoral to ask God to protect the nation that is always the first
responder in a crisis, no matter where it happens in the world?
Is it immoral to ask God to protect the nation that gives more to
charity than any other nation?
Is it immoral to ask God to protect a nation that has brought so much
freedom to others?
Is it immoral to ask God to protect a nation that has left its sons'
and daughters' blood in places all over the world and never asked for
anything in return?
Is it immoral to ask God to keep this a free nation?
Is it immoral to ask God to intervene when there are liars and thugs
doing things to hurt innocent, hard working people?
Is it immoral to ask God to cause people to be responsible for their
own lives and not expect that others will take care of them?
Is it immoral to ask God to allow us to live in the country we love,
with the freedoms our loved ones have fought and died for and to pass

I think the question the poster asked is easily answered when we

Lewis had been the target of that slur."
Let me see if I understand this. Calling a black man the "N" word is
bad, but calling a white man a "teabagger" is okay. When Democrats
protested through the Bush years, they were patriots. When Republicans,
Democrats, Libertarians and Independents protest the Socialization of

When Republicans fight for a strong military defense, they are war

made that up should be aware that there are people out there who will
take advantage of anything they can.
As far as the census goes, there are intrusive questions on it. I
wonder what you absolutely have to answer. People need to do what is
legally required but they should not have to answer ones that are no
one's business. Does anyone know what we absolutely have to
answer? Why do they need to know about people with Hispanic
origins? Could that have anything to do with redistricting for
elections in the future? Our own wonderful Senator Lindsay Graham
is pushing for amnesty for all the illegals in this country. I wonder
who they would support in an election. Maybe it won't matter how
outraged the Americans are with this administration. They may be able
to buy the next election with those kinds of votes.

repsonsibility of the parents to make sure the upper echelon in the
school district is making proper decisions for the benefit of children

penalized for what we believe is right? We are only trying to do our

went to Wardlaw a few years back and while there a student set of a
Mace canister and the only reason we found out was another student in
that class, no parents were notified. There were a good number of
students that carried knives in the school and nothing was ever said to
them. And the part that really got me was when our son asked to get out
of that school and go to JET he was behind in his classes. He was an
honor student getting A's & B's at Wardlaw but behind at JET, so we
spent thousands of dollars for less education and discipline problems
at the school being ignored so that the precious Wardlaw reputation and

I am wondering how long it is going to
take edgefield county and its ema director to fix or upgrade the radio
system the the area fire departments use to communicate with
dispatch and other departments. At least half of the time dispatch has
to repeat themselves over and over and if a fire department has to
communicate on the radio the tramsmission is not being received. So far
this lack of communication has not gotten a fireman hurt but its only a
matter of time before a fire crew is inside of a house and told on the
radio to exit due to an emminate collapse and does not recieve that
radio transmission.I wonder what the fcc would think about this problem
if that were to happen and what the excuse would be. The south repeater
is right near the savannah river which is one of the lowest elevations
in this county. This tower needs to be elevated higher or mover to a
higher location. Edgefield county ema director does not have to use the
south tower so it seems to me that its out of sight out of mind.
Editor's note: The transmission towers have been discussed and are
still being discussed at the county level. I agree that the location of
the south tower is foolish. It, in my opinion, should be located at the
Merriwether Fire Department's main station on Martintown Road. Former
County Councilman Danny Bishop made sure that did not happen because he
was trying to get his bordering property zoned as the only available
commercial property when he voted to zone the un-incorporated
community. His zoning plans for his property were thrown out along with
him as a county council member in two consecutive elections.

John was in the fertilized egg business.
He had several hundred young layers (hens), called 'pullets,'and ten
roosters to fertilize the eggs. He kept records, and any rooster not
performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.
This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them
to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell
from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the
porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.
John's favourite rooster, Hussein, was a very fine specimen, but this
morning he noticed Hussein's bell hadn't rung at all! When he
went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing
pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming,
could run for cover.
To John's amazement, Hussein had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't
ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next
one. John was so proud of Hussein, he entered him in the Renfrew
County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.
The result was the judges not only awarded Hussein the No Bell Piece
Prize but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.
Clearly Hussein was a politician in the making.
Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most
highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on
the populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention?
Vote carefully. The bells are not always audible.

I'm 63 . Except for one
semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I
was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked,
hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I
still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or
eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my
income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no
retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.
I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to
people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the
government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and
give it to people too lazy to earn it.
I'm tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep
people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got
sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at
three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of
my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie
and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble
help them with their own money.
I'm tired of being told how bad America is by
left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood
Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities
America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the
United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe
, the freedom of the press of China , the crime and
violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people
of Iran , and the freedom of speech of
Venezuela.
I'm tired of being told that Islam is a " Religion of Peace ,"
when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their
sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims
rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering
Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of
Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape
victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of
little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a
law tells them to.
I'm tired of being told that "race doesn't matter" in the
post-racial world of Obama , when it's all that matters in
affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation
standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract
set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless
children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment
of U . S . Senators from Illinois .
I think it's very cool that we have a black president and that a
black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote
the Emancipation Proclamation . I just wish the black
president was Condi Rice , or someone who believes more in
freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing
government.
I'm tired of a news media that thinks Bush's fundraising and
inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama's, at triple the
cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of
presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the
public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of
Bush's military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his;
that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too
inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as
potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping
their subscriptions or switching to Fox News
? Get a clue. I didn't vote for Bush in 2000, but the
media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.
I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other
cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to
fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America,
while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or
religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and
tolerance.
I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to
fight global warming , which no one is allowed to debate.
My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five
miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our
daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5%
of Al Gore 's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're
green enough.
I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I
must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a
giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder
up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think Gay
people choose to be Gay, but I sure think druggies chose to take drugs.
And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak
when I tell them I never tried marijuana.
I'm tired of illegal aliens being called " undocumented workers
," especially the ones who aren't working, but are living on welfare or
crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers, "Undocumented
Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of
them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics
wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track for
citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn't have a
criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare,
or who serves honorably for three years in our military.... Those are
the citizens we need.
I'm tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear
the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their
entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our
military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make
split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad
mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in
war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes
misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were
the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still
are? Not even close. So here's the deal. I'll
let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was
heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let
themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and
beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured
and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims
who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in
Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls
in Indonesia , because the girls were Christian. Then we'll
compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in
history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding
from in fear.
I'm tired of people telling me that their party has a
corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read
the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I'm tired of people telling me we
need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois, where the "Illinois
Combine" of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to
mention the tax cheats in Obama's cabinet.
I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and
politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid
mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only
mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of
entitlement, rich or poor.
Speaking of poor, I'm tired of hearing people with
air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority
of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were
"poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor
to keep the dollars flowing.
I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their
lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or
discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.
Yes, I'm (darn) tired . But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly,
I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm
just sorry for my granddaughter.

Yesterday in the mail we receive a paper census that states our answers

Those records are sealed and are NOBODYS business. I refuse to

I have a question. We all have social security numbers. The
SSA is well aware of where we all live, work, what color we are as all
this information is on a SSA application. In order to receive a

I’ve watched with interest the debate on
whether the KKK should come to Edgefield. Growing up in Chicago
in the 70’s and 80’s, I watched a similar debate unfold in the Chicago
suburb of Skokie, IL. The issue was whether to let the Nazis have
their rally in Skokie (a large Jewish neighborhood). The judicial
system let them march, and they looked like fools (most looked like the
30 yr old basement dwellers in their parent’s home who never left
home). The parody of their march in the movie, “The Blues
Brothers” was pretty accurate. So I say, “let the KKK come to
Edgefield and let’s watch them march….and instead of getting angry,
let’s laugh at their foolishness.” A bunch of bottom dwelling
fools covering their faces with sheets and wearing white dunce caps
because they’re 30yr olds who never left home either.
As for those drawing the comparison to the NAACP and the KKK, you’re
absolutely right, they’re fools too. There’s a great column
written by
Adam Baldwin about pushing back against the race hustlers.
Playing the race card is in decline. People are no longer afraid
of calling out bad behavior in the black community for their
foolishness out of fear of being called, A RACIST [oh my god]….so go
ahead, call me a bigot and racist (**yawn**). I’m not scared or
intimidated….because I see you for the fool that you are. You
demonstrate your ignorance by refusing to debate an issue on
merits…instead, you just call names. Instead of hoods, you guys
wear bow ties, gold teeth, and take pride in speaking ebonics….to the
detriment of your children. You are in fact a fool also…and the
NAACP needs to be treated with the same attitude as the KKK. Call
them out, laugh at them and never support their causes…as a matter of
fact…I think I hear the circus music playing….the KKK and NAACP must be
marching.

Come with me into the realm of the
classroom. I dare you. . . . Take the plunge. Do what I do everyday.
Teach, encourage, nurture, strengthen, push, and never give up on the
young people for whom you are responsible.
I would like to remind Edgefield County that most of the teachers in
the school district, who actually care, do put forth an effort
everyday.
We put forth an effort to nurture your child and engage your child.
There are some of us who could care less. Yes, there are bad apples in
every bunch. Overall; however, I know many teachers that put in long
hours to make sure their job is done right. Many times this year, I
have spent my own money on classroom supplies. I could have said, "Well
the money I was allotted at the beginning of the year is gone, oh
well." I didn't, I went to the store and bought what was needed for my
classroom. These were items that I don't need, but that my students
need.
Why do teachers not come out and say something against the school board
and the superintendent? Well, wouldn't you want to keep your job? It is
commonly known, but the underlying truth in the district is that if
anyone speaks out against the powers that be, then we will be targeted.
I don't know about anyone else out there, but I need to keep my job. I
may be frustrated with the way things are run, but what can be done
when the same school board members are voted in year after year? If the
parents of Edgefield County are unhappy with the way the educational
system is being run, then they need to look to themselves. Finally,
they need to get together and vote out the "cesspool of ignorance" that
runs our school district.

successfully played the race card to benefit themselves and their own
agendas, and essentially throwing their own people under the bus for
their own personal gain. Meanwhile, their own people are the ones
holding the bag-yeah, you got your check, you got your public housing,
you got your food stamps, but after the Justice Brothers and the local

Beware of fine print when opening a
checking account. My son had a 20.00 overdraft in
December. the bank never notified my son of the overdraft. but
they did continue to accept his direct deposits, taking ALL of his
january paychecks to pay the overdraft charges for the fees and half of
his feb. paychecks. they also took 200.00 out of savings, which they
claim they are not allowed to do if you are overdrawn. but they did.
however they also charged him 5.00 a DAY for 40 days. in total they
took 200 from savings, 150 in paychecks and another 200 in other
fees. by charging 5.00 a day for FORTY DAYS. for a grand total of
550.00 dollars to cover a 20 dollar overdraft. The theft was
discovered when my son went to pay for summer school, and his bank card
was declined, It is the only reason we discovered the overdraft. We
discussed that we had received the direct deposit paystubs but had not
seen a monthly statement at the house. but, the bank had not mailed a
statement in 2 months. We tried to access his account online and could
not log into his account. I believed my son had lost/ forgotten
his log in information, but no, immediately after the overdraft
the bank disabled access to his account. I believe His account
had been disabled by the bank to hide the fact that they were
taking his paychecks and savings account to cover a 20.00 overdraft.
all this time we believed my son had money only to find almost 2
months later they had taken everything from him. This should not be
allowed. I was told they sent ONE letter in March stating the account
had been closed due to the fees. It was not sent certified so they
cannot prove it was ever mailed. They claim that statements
or overdraft notices were sent to the house "everyday" since December.
However, they cannot locate a copy of ANY overdraft notice produced by
the banks computer. The bank manager had no answer when
questioned about why they could not locate or find any written
confirmation that my son was notified of his overdraft. .There are no
notes in the banks computer system, no notations, nor copy of
statements, no copies of overdraft notices, no proof of a computer
generated notice ever existing. Although I did receive statements
from all other creditors just not the one with the overdraft. His
best explanation was that the postman LOST all of the notices. How can
you lose a notice that does not exist according to his own computer
system?. This bank embezzled/ converted, stole, removed over 500
dollars. from my son. I have filed a complaint with the federal
reserve asking that all monies be returned, but that does not pay
for my sons summer college courses now. the bank claims what they
did is allowed under SC law. If so, then our lawmakers need to do
something to reign in the fees banks are allowed to charge. I agree he
should pay a bounced check fee for his mistake. I strongly
disagree with their deceptive collection practices and exorbitant
overdraft fees. If it were any other business they would be charged
with theft. Its time banks were held to the same standards.

TEST OF MORALITY
The One (1) Question Test.
This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By
giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The
test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you
will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be
honest, yet spontaneous.
THE SITUATION:
You are in Florida, Miami to be specific. There is chaos all around you
caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical
proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper ,
and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is
nearly hopeless.
You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and
people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature
is unleashing all of its destructive fury.
THE TEST:
Suddenly you see a man and a woman in the water. They are fighting for
their lives, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move
closer. Somehow they look familiar. You suddenly realize who they are.
It's Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi!! At the same time you notice that
the raging waters are about to take them under forever. You have two
options: You can save their lives or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer
Prize winning photo, documenting the deaths of two of the world's most
powerful people.
THE QUESTION:
Here's the question, and please give an honest answer...
Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the
classic simplicity of black and white.

The three links in the chain of survival
for a heart attack:
1) Early access (call 911)
2) CPR
3) Early difibrilation by use of an Automatic External Difibrilator.
The director of Edgefield EMS just took the last two steps away from a
huge portion of the county. Parts in which ambulance response times
reach 20 minutes plus. She has discontinued the use of First Responders
in many of the areas around the county. First responders aren't trained
to intervene in just cardiac arrests, but most life threatening
injuries and illnesses. First responders are typically located
throughout your area, are mostly volunteers(ex:firefighters, off duty
EMT's)usually with as little as a 5 minute response time. The Director
makes decisions and opinions without all the facts present, without
input from the parties involved. This is the same behavior exhibited in
the past when she ran off the last 3 Paramedics. It must be nice to
have relatives in positions of power within the Edgefield County
Government. I couldn't see a person without that, continue to be
employed behaving the way Jewel Plaxco(EMS Director) does. It
seems the most "Christian" people are the most judgemental. In my
humble opinion. I for one, want to help the members of my community
with nothing in return. Only the satisfaction that I helped make
someones life better than it could have been. But, my hands are tied by
Jewel. In conclusion, the last two steps in survival are to be replaced
with the following:
1) Get out of Edgefield County
2) Fast
Editor's note: I am unaware of any policy change of calling out First
Responders. If an EMS crew is not close by, First Responders are called
to the scene of a heart attack or coronary issue as well as other
medical emergencies.

Sure, whites as a minority need an advocacy group these days as their

the initials KKK must not be part of that group. The KKK is an
anachronistic hate group synonymous with bigotry and ignorance.
Edgefield does not need their presence. The county should
deny them and any other special interest group a parade permit. Let
private landowners sponsor them and invite all the media they want.
If a group sues to assert their right to gather in a public place let
them gather at the jail parking lot, the landfill or any other place
where they will not negatively impact the local economy or disturb the
peace. They can then be herded into a police controlled

Re: Posts regarding JET Middle School
First and foremost, I would like to say that Norman Dorn was an
exception, rather than the rule. Most of the teachers are
dedicated professionals to whom being a teacher is part of who they
are, not just what they do. However, effective leadership is a
requisite for an effective school system, and Edgefield County’s
‘leadership’ starts at the top with the superintendent and school board
and trickles down to the school administrators in small doses.
School administrators seem to be overwhelmed, and many teachers at JET
turn to the same one for support. Some began teaching when there
were 30 to 35 students in a classroom, survived, and produced decent
test scores and productive citizens, but at that time teachers also had
strong support from principals, parents, and the superintendent.
In the past, corporal punishment was allowed. (Now, even if it
were allowed, many parents of the troublemaking students would not give
permission for it anyway.) Teachers were not told that keeping
students in for recess or making them write a paragraph about their
misbehavior, or taking their canteen privileges was against their
rights. Today teachers can and do write up students, but the
consequences are inconsistent and limited. The current thinking
is that teachers are not truly engaging students in their learning, so
they are misbehaving. We would love to see the school return to
its former status, but it will take more than the few of us here
voicing our opinions.

make their money, this is how they maintain power. Sadly, there
are still those on both sides that can not let go of the past and move

I would venture a guess that this person has never spent even one hour
in a classroom at JET to see what the children are learning and how
hard the teachers work. It's amusing how so many people are
"experts" on what should be done, but they don't actually know what is
going on. First of all, many experienced teachers are dealing
with twenty-five to thirty pre-teens per classroom and doing a fine
job. You mention that they could be replaced with newly-certified
teachers. School districts across the nation report that they are
having problems retaining newly-certified teachers, who have not been
adequately prepared to handle the demands placed on them by students,
parents, and administrators. The most frequently cited reasons
for their leaving the profession are student disrespect and lack of
administrative support. In other words, they find out that they
cannot handle the job. Those who do stay in the profession often
mention that experienced teachers took them under their wings and
helped them find their way in the classrooms. Also, this person
says that JET is the "dreaded school." I do not hear reports of
three to four fights a day or frequent drug arrests, as I do about
another school. This might call for a little rethinking of which
years to send a child to private school. Finally, if someone
cares about his child's education, then he should get behind those
teachers and demand that rules be enforced so that all students can
learn. Support those teachers because publicly belittling them
will certainly not make them want to do a better job. It can only
hurt the children in the long run.

I agree that the magistrates need to have
a courtroom like they do everywhere else in the US of A.
Editor's note: I could not agree more and have written on the subject
in two opinion columns. I even supported in the last column that they
should be moved to the new building. After the debate at the meeting
Merriwether Councilwoman Genia Blackwell suggested there was no need to
move the Magistrates and said they should use the County Council
Chamber next door for all
court hearings. It was said when the lease was made in 1999 the
chambers would double as a courtroom for them and they should use it. I
am now of the opinion that I could care less where the Magistrate Court
holds court, as long as all cases are held in front of all those
charged and open to the public. They could hold it in the parking lot
for all I care.
She's loving the fact she changed my opinion. Then again, I am always

I usually don't put a post on the
Wandering Minds, but if I don't get this out of my system, I will go
insane. Everytime I look around me, I just want to gag at the way our
school district is being run. The idiots that are making decisions in
our school district are making them for their own gain and not for the
benefit of our children. Example: Crenshaw gets a 5,000 dollar bonus in
the name of "travel expenses" and Clunkscales makes 86,000 dollars a
year. What about the teachers? They are furloughed three days this year
and five days next year, possibly. On top of that, class sizes have
increased and where is the educational quality of instruction going?
Down the tubes. In a class of 28 kids, students do not have the same
level of instruction as a smaller class. In smaller classes, teachers
are able to vary instruction and help students one on one. In a class
of 28-30, it is chaos, unless the class is well-behaved and on focus. I
am sick of the race card being played as well. Coming from another
district in SC, I never knew that race could be such an issue. Here in
Edgefield, it seems to be the driving force with every decision. Dr.
David Mathis was told he did not have the "intestinal fortitude" to
make change in Edgefield County. Well, it seems to me that Dr. Crenshaw
certainly has the "intestinal fortitude" to drive our district into the
ground and make us all look like ignorant idiots in the process.

have noticed a run down building in town on blocks and a orange fence
around it for almost a year. doesn't the town construction dept. or
building code dept. see this disgrace and make the property owner do
something about this before an accident happens there. do they make
sure the owner has liability insurance on that property. that is a
disgrace and an accident just waiting to happen, lawyers would jump on
an accident case happening there and the town might also have
liability because they are letting it be that way. the same takes place
in the town square where buildings are falling down with broken windows
and an awful sight to see in your main square with businesses and the
court house. where are the building codes dept.? aren't the property
owners responsible to fix or get fined? edgefield wants customers to
spend money there, yet the one side of the square where the "plantation
house" sits has a stretch of run down properties. that square has a lot
of good possibilities if new businesses came in to develop
cafes, eateries, etc. the current establishments are run nicely, but
that square needs more if people are to shop there and spend money.
"historic edgefield is always advertised, but most people , and
especially visitors are surprised at the lack of establishments when
they get there and after a 5 minute drive thru, they leave. i hope i

Hello my good friend, (I have) some
answers to your "Novel Idea" about erecting a statue of Edgefield's
Founding Father Arthur Simkins. Now I do agree with you that money
should not be unwisely spent, especially when it comes from the Citizen
Taxpayer. I also believe such a project should first solicit funds from
private donors. Please read the letter from The Edgefield County
Historical Society item(5)since it seems to be the root of all the
controversy. But surely you are aware that a major function of
government is to disperse monies collected (often from unfair
confiscation) for a variety of (often ridiculous) specific usages.
However, my friend, this project is a very honorable one supported by
two fine organizations whose volunteer efforts provide much revenue to
Edgefield County. Last year over two thousand five hundred out of town
folks visited the Tompkins Library for family research purposes. Many
were from out of State and they all spend their dollars when they are
in the County. Knowledgeable estimates place revenue of $250,000 at a
minimum and when you add visits to the Archives and other related
family research and general historical interest the numbers are sure to
be much higher. More than a few people volunteer through the Old
Edgefield District and African American Genealogical Societies, The
Edgefield County Historical Society and they give their time and often
money to make Edgefield a better place to live and visit.I am proud of
my fellow volunteer "Historians" whose efforts generate far more income
to the County than they ever hope to receive from governments. I
am now in my middle sixties and haven't seen such stirrings downtown
since I was a child. Nor have I seen an inadequately clothed or feed
child around Edgefield since my childhood. I believe there is some talk
in The White House about our children being too fat. Now you may
believe "Edgefield Daily" keeps Edgefield Folks from "hurt" as you say.
Personally I believe "Edgefield Daily" is a great local news and
information resource for those with Internet access. However, the
anonymous "Wandering Minds" section is nothing more than a bully pulpit
for the Editor and an opportunity for the folks to gossip, make
personal attacks and say things they would not if they were more
informed or were speaking publicly. We are all guilty! Exodus

RE: "So, let's get this straight...
The School District is freezing hiring....yet the CFO gets an assistant

Seems to me you had a couple of citizens that were willing to stand up
and take the arrows and expose the significant problems in the
district. But because the PC police didn't like their tactics and
asked them to back off, now it's business as usual with the Board and
the District, and now it's going to get worse because they have been
emboldened. They think they've won and that is a referendum to do
whatever they please. Y'all blew it, and now........
Let's look at what was going on: You had two citizens willing to
stand up for teachers, students and the community. They didn't
have too, but they did. And they didn't have to worry about
outside pressures, e.g., having family members working in the
system-they didn't have; rely on local business for their own
businesses-they didn't; When these two took the ball and ran, the
school board meetings were becoming packed-getting people to come and
hear just what foolishness and ineptitude goes on; exposed the
Superintendent running a grant writing business on school time; exposed
Bibbs getting paid for something by the district, thus using his
position for financial gain; and through the bold and brash tactics of
these two, people were coming forward with information because they
felt they had someone that would fight for them, e.g., Courtney's
illegal use of dumping grounds on school property; the Voluntary
Submission Form. And the biggest indicator that these two where
on to something-the Board and District played the race card.
But you see, there were a few thin skinned PC police that didn't like
the tactics, didn't like the "constant negativity" portrayed at the
meetings, and they began to undermine the support of these two-so the
two packed their bags and left. And you know why, because these PC
police had family in the system, or local businesses, and they feared
being targeted. Now y'all have what's left. Go figure. Maybe you
should get the PC police to stand up for you. They'll help
you. Sort of like that HOPE and CHANGE. How's that working
out?

2. He killed off the Kennedy Dynasty - No more Kennedy's trolling

3. He is destroying the Democratic Party right before our eyes!
Dennis Moore had never lost a race - quit!
Evan Bayh had never lost a race - quit!
Byron Dorgan - had never lost a race - quit!
Harry Reid - Soon to be GONE!
These are just a handful of the Democrats that whose political careers
Obama has destroyed! By the end of 2010 dozens more will be!
In December of 2008 the Democrats were on the rise. In the last
two election cycles they had picked up 14 senate seats and 52 house
seats. The press was touting the death of the Conservative Movement and
the Republican Party. In just one year, Obama put a stop to all
of this and will probably give the house, if not the senate back to the
Republicans.
4. He has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they
are. Every Generation seems to need to relearn the lesson on why they
should never actually put liberals in charge. He is bringing home
the lesson very well!
Liberals tax, borrow and spend - check
Liberals won't bring themselves to protect America - check
Liberals want to take over the economy - check
Liberals think they know what is best for everyone - check
Liberals aren't happy till they are running YOUR life - check
5. He has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since
Reagan. In One year he rejuvenated the Conservative movement and
brought out to the streets millions of Freedom Loving Americans. Name
me one other time in your life that you saw your friends and neighbors
this interested in taking back America !
6. His amazing leadership has sparked the greatest period of sales of
firearms and ammunition this country has seen. Law abiding citizens
have rallied and have provided a "stimulus" to the sporting goods field
while other industries have failed, faded or moved off-shore!
7. In all honesty one year ago I was more afraid than I had ever been
in my life. Not of the economy but of the direction our country
was going. I thought Americans had forgotten what this country was all
about. My neighbors, friends, strangers proved to me that my lack
of confidence of the Greatness and Wisdom of the American people was
flat out wrong.
8. When the American People wake up no smooth talking teleprompter

I thought once I wanted to become involved in County Council meetings
and affairs of Edgefield County. After attending many meetings it
became apparent that I could accomplish nothing aside from raising my
blood pressure. After seeing a few inept and embarrassing ramblings
from Mr. Dorn and the lack of any true leadership from Mr. Kneece or
Mr. Bright in moving the County forward I thought maybe I had enough.
At one of the last meetings I attended I watched as the Council voted
to give money away to a particular group. The group was a worthy one,
however in these economic times particularly, when it is apparent
county infrastructure and services are stressed or suffering, every
taxpayer dollar should have been handled as if it were the last dollar
in the budget. It seems many think that spending tax dollars may be a
no-no unless the dollars are being spent on their own special interest.
How selfish. How disappointing people can be sometimes when there is so
much potential. Do we have any conscientious individuals that are
willing to serve? Do we have any conscientious voters willing to use
their votes wisely and objectively, for the betterment of us all? Do we
have any conscientious elected officials willing to do the right thing
for all of the people they have vowed to represent and serve? Needless
to say I do not go to too many council meetings these days. Not likely
to rush back, at least not until I believe that the answers to all of
my questions may be yes.
So do we need a $70,000 statue? Absolutely not! But I would not be
surprised to see tax dollars given away

extravagant when so many people are having hard financial times. How
about a nice plaque placed at the courthouse instead? That would be a
lot less expensive and would serve the purpose of honoring this man. As
a tax payer in this county, I don't want to see my money going toward

Yup, the state government's to blame for making these corrupt school
administrations live within a budget. Yup, it's the state
government's fault that they are actually watching out for us and
trying to reign in wasteful spending. Yup, it's the state
government's fault for identifying how corrupt the education system
really is. Hmmmmmm. Crenshaw-$125,000 salary????? and gets
an alleged $5000 raise, or as some have put it, travel pay?
Hmmmmmmm. Never had a HR person in the district until
Crenshaw-and now you have Clinkscales at $86,000. And don't
forget, that was intiallly allocated at about $48,000. And now
Heidi Kerns has requested an assistant because the job is too big for
her. That assistant will come it at $45,000, of which is not in
the budget. So where are they going to get that? Guess you
guys a WE Parker will be selling more booklets, huh? Cut
Crenshaws salary to $80K, get rid of Clinkscales and her $86K, fire
Kerns and hire someone capable, dispose of the assistant for Kerns,
$45K, and you just saved $180K+. Then get in there with an
external audit and go through the items line by line, and guarantee you
can save right off the bat-at least 10% of the school budget-and that's
just cutting the fat.
You see, it really isn't about the children-its about an agenda,
indoctrination, usurping power, creating votes for the machine.
Let's throw a wrench in that machine in November! Vote out

I certainly read this and believe the
questions raised deserve some answers. I am in the throws of a divorce
and realize that some parents are not responsible and believe in making
one parent emotionally and financially pay for the failure of the
relationship. The rose colored glasses last only so long and
eventually fall off. One spouse is out looking for a new partner
to aid in the fulfilment of fulltime partner and part-time parent. The
concern is never focused on the children during mating season. I
have discovered the focus is temporarily diverted to the new flame in
their life, and it could be several flames . This certainly
leaves the children asking questions to the responsible parent
What a dilemna this places the children in.
For the child support, your situation is one that is experienced by
many parents all over this country. The countless times of
irresponsiblity by jumping the state lines to avoid supporting their
spouses and children is shameful. The judicial system should do more to
prevent these circumstances. At the same time, they can't babysit
all these dead beats either. They need to simplify the child
support by automatically setting it up in the court system and
garnishing their wages from their job. I would say it would be a
different world when the court system contacted their job to set up
garnishing wages and this predicament would not happen to so many. For
example: The IRS would never stand for anyone owing them money. They
have no problem contacting a place of employment for garnishing wages.
Reality is the goverment has more rights than the children. According
to your situation, your ex has more rights than the
children. Personally, I do not have a high regard for
DSS. From what I have witnessed and reviewed from many
circumstances, they are a confusing system and will do what they desire
at the time. They really never consider what is best for the
children, only in few situations have they provided and performed well.
Namely, the extreme situations which require immediate
intervention. Anything more, they are not capable or
competent. I don't believe your spouse should have received
the children if child support is owed. If your spouse did not appear in
court, there should have been a warrant out for the arrest.
I hate to remind you, but dear, we are in edgefield county.( No offense
intended towards the police force) I realize this hasn't
been much assistance to you, but you do have my sympathy as do all the
parents in this country who deal with this situation.

Not if but when there is an accident in
the parking lot of the old Star Fibers building I can assure you that
the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Department will be the first on the
scene. The reason for this is that they will be the cause of the
accident. Everyday we have Edgefield County Sheriff and Edgefield
Police making trips behind the old Star Fibers building at a high rate
of speed. If one of the employees at this location were to be
backing out of the parking lot these vehicles would not be able to stop
in time to avoid a collision. Sometimes the officers will
be parked around the side of the building for quite a lengthy period of
time. Are there crimes taking place here everyday or is this a
place for afternoon naps? Just recently (a Sheriff's Office vehicle)
was seen rushing behind the building 3 out of the 4 days this week. Is
there a crime that needs investigating here? Inside one of the
warehouses around back there are tire tracks leading in and out of the
building that I would be willing to bet would match some of the tires
on our Sheriff’s patrol cars. (Removed) but they are also using our
(Edgefield County) patrol cars for their toys. There are tracks showing
where they have been sliding their patrol cars around the corners
inside this warehouse. Who is protecting and serving the county and the
town when all this fun is going on? Someone recently called the
Sheriff’s office about the (vehicle) going around back at a high rate
of speed and they were told the Sheriff’s office does not have (such)
and then was transferred to Captain Wash’s voicemail. Sounds like they
are on top of things around here! With all the budget cuts going on,
this is our tax dollars hard at work!!
As this is being sent, there is the (deleted) blue explorer and a grey
Nissan pathfinder inside of the old warehouse!!
Editor's note: I spoke to Capt. Wash with the Edgefield County
Sheriff's Office and Edgefield Police Chief Ronnie Carter about this
matter. The owner of the Star Fibers property has asked that both
agencies patrol the property and arrests have been made as a result of
those patrols. The property is also used for driver training exercises.

Re: Downtown Parking
The idea of regulating parking has merit, but consider that this
attitude is a tiny indicator of the national ethos that has us as a
nation where we are today. Stated another way, is we don't like
something, we have grown too accustomed to turning to government for a
solution. I'm here to tell you that neither Edgefield, Edgefield
County or any other layer of government all the way to Washington, DC
has the answer to any problem beyond our national defense. The
Constitution of the United States was framed to limit government, but
we, the people, have acquiesced in a slow but accelerating erosion of
those limits. It is sad and disturbing.
Back to the parking issue; if merchants want to encourage business,
they will refrain and direct their employees to refrain from using
convenient parking spots. If you want a law, pass a law
requiring
government employees, public servants, if you will, who have places of
employment around the square from using those prime spots.

but was warned I should be. I am a single mother of five. Four of the
children are by my ex-husband of approximately 13 years. Around the end
of October he proposed to the 3rd or 4th girl in 7 months. This one
actually said yes. Once they were married beginning of Novemberthe
(children had never even met this woman!). He decided he should quit
his job...or there was a rumor of him being fired due to theft....not
sure which. Either way, he quit paying child support. Now.. at the time
I was in a relationship. My partner of two years and I said drop the
payments in half and we'll make it work. My partner worked so we could
manage even though I have been let go from my job. My ex and his new
wife said that was still too much money and then my ex pointed out that
if my partner was out of the picture he would do like he's supposed to.
He never liked me being with someone else. Well, we split up.Then I was
alone. Which is how my ex likes me. Because then he can bully me and
push me around. He was not going to be used in a game using my children
against me. He left end of December for good. He had been leaving off
and on that whole month....but not relly wanting it to have to be this
way.So after two and a half months of lies about the support I finally
went to the Family Court and filed the paperwork for it in January.
Around mid February, we were supposed to go to court. No show for
him...shocking I know... I mean to be behind 7 thousand dollars kinda
looks bad. So here I am. No income coming in. About to lose my
electricity. About to lose my home.No vehicle. And whats the next step
for my ex? Call D.S.S. . Finally I think D.S.S. is satisfied I'm not a
drug addict. But now I am in the position I have to send my
children to live with the man that didn't want to have to take care of
his responsibilities to begin with. How is this right? How can no one
see this? He has only let me see my middle three children one
time since the end of January. Why? For no other reason than I dared to
go for child support against him. A friend said it's so he can try to
get out of having to even pay the support he owes at all. To make
it out like I don't care about the kids. I have no phone anymore so I
can't even call and talk to my babies!! He is working. Of course under
the table so he wont have to pay. What is wrong with our society that
the more crooked, conniving, and backhanded you are, the easier your

issue some type of parking permits for employees and residents of the

RE: "This is for all you dummys, who
doesn't want to give President Obama credit for anything. Our economy
has gotten better since dumb Bush was in office....."
What is it that Forrest Gump says? Stupid is......If O has done
so much for our economy and "saved and/or created" jobs, why are so
many people still unemployed? And I think you better wait until
the next unemployment numbers come out Friday-it doesn't appear they
are going to be good news for the country or the Messiah.
Remember when the dummie Bush was running for re-election, the liberals
always shouting how high the unemployment rate was, um ah, 5.5%?
When in all actuality, 5.5% is the natural level at any given time
because of job transitions, or people that just don't work. Now
its 9.7%, if you can really believe that figure because they juggle the
numbers to show people its not really that bad, wink at 17%.
Remember when dummie Bush's economy was labeled the worst since Herbert
Hoover? If you go do a lexus nexus, you'll see the liberals used
the exact same page from the playbook when they tried to destroy
Reagan. Reagan's economy was the worst since Herbert Hoover. I
pity the next President. O blames it on what he has inherited,
what's the next President going to inherit. Not a pile of $%$#,
but a mountain range of @#$%. Hopefully we'll get a real leader
then, one that will actually roll up their sleeves and try to
straighten this mess out instead of blaming it on the last
administration. That truly is the mark of a good leader.
Stop whining, pull up your boot straps, and get to work. Perfect
example-look at the gulf coast in Mississippi, and then look at New
Orleans. Where would you rather live? Where those who have
picked up, cleaned up, rebuilt, not waiting for outside help, or where
they are still sitting around while they wait for a handout.
VOTE NO to all liberals at every level Nov 2010!

Editor's post: I am a little curious how the Edgefield
County Council can vote to install new flooring in the County
Assessor's Office and then charge it to Clerk of Court Shirley Newby.
Moreover, how Building and Planing Director Mike Reed can then use her
budget to paint the office and replace countertops because the old ones
don't' match the decor picked out by the unqualified and unlicensed
Assessor Kiesha Bryant.
The last time I checked, Clerk of Court Newby is an elected official
and she alone runs the courthouse and the county council nor Mike Reed
(much less Bryant) can touch her budget. I guess this is more of the
"that's the way we always do things" around here.

I was so shocked to see this! NOT! Why do you think they
received $3million in stimulus money? To buy votes. And to
show they "saved or created" 19 jobs. And the payback-an
endorsement of a union thug. To make the endorsement outright and
open shows one thing-when the two gold dust twins were told to back off
because they weren't being PC, you just emboldened them. Hell,
Bibbs was bragging the ethics investigation proved the Super wasn't
doing anything wrong. Needless to say Bibbs and Sister Sallie
took a little trip to Columbia when the ethics investigation was going
on. So one could assume it was safe to say that Bibbs and Sister
Sallie went to flex their NAACLP muscles and the ethics investigator
was also told to back off. The den of thieves runs thick and
deep. From the white house to the school house. Hopefully
voters at every level will remember this and vote no to all socialists,
ooops, Democrats. And for those who cringe at the term socialist
to describe Democrats, do the math - Labor + Unions + Tax + Spend +
Programs + Programs + Programs + More Programs + Failed Programs
(Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Education) = Democrats. The
education system is becoming the next American auto industry. It too
will crumble under the weight of debt heaped on it by huge, burgeoning

Thank heaven for Obama!
That's right!
He destroyed the Clinton Political Machine. He killed off the
Kennedy Dynasty. He is destroying the Democratic Party before our eyes!
Dennis Moore had never lost a race. Evan Bayh had never lost a
race. Byron Dorgan. Harry Reid. These are just a handful of
the Democrats whose political careers Obama has destroyed! By the end
of 2010 dozens more will be!
In December of 2008 the Democrats were on the rise. In the last
two election cycles they had picked up 14 senate seats and 52 house
seats. The Liberal press was touting the death of the
Conservative Movement and the Republican Party. In one year Obama
put a stop to all of this and will probably give the house, if not the
senate back to the Republicans.
He has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they are.
Every Generation seems to need to relearn the lesson on why they should
never actually put liberals in charge. He is bringing home the
lesson very well! Liberals tax, borrow and spend. Liberals
won’t bring themselves to protect America. Liberals want to take
over the economy. Liberals think they know what is best for everyone,
Liberals aren’t happy till they are running YOUR life.
He has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since
Reagan. In One year he rejuvenated the Conservative movement and
brought out to the streets millions of Freedom Loving Americans.
Name me one other time in your life that you saw your friends and
neighbors this interested in taking back America!
In all honesty one year ago I was more afraid than I had ever been in
my life. Not of the economy but of the direction our country was
going. I thought Americans had forgotten what this country was
all about. My neighbors, friends, strangers proved to me that my
lack of confidence in the Greatness and Wisdom of the American people
was flat out wrong.
When the American People wake up, no smooth talking teleprompter reader
can fool them! Barak Obama woke up these Great Americans. Again I
want say,
Thank you Barak Obama!

stance on the opinion of the district’s legal council, Greg Anderson. I
have dealt with Mr. Anderson on both sides of the law over more than a

the fray and exceedingly professional."
It is agreed that he does have a job to do and therefore can not take
sides other than to entertain the nasty job of protecting that
bunch. Surely, there are a lot of public defenders that do not
savor the job of having to defend some of the walks of life they do-but
they have to do it. However, G.A. is not appointed to represent
that bunch-he's contracted. If he doesn't like what he sees or
doesn't agree with the systematic destruction of the schools in our
county, he doesn't have to represent them, he can cancel his contract.
And, while he's away from the fray, he should not whine and moan about
what's going on in the district and with the board. With that, it once
again shows that people put money before morality-generally
politicos. If he really did care about what was going on, he'd
grow some, cancel his contract and help clean up this mess. But
then, he couldn't could he? He'd hide behind his attorney/client
privilege. So, guess he's really got no other choice than to continue
taking the taxpayer money and turning his head.
And if G.A. was above the fray, then why was he physically overheard
bad mouthing the effort to clean up the school district?

Concerned Citizens of the United States,
Did you know that since Barack Obama was elected President your share
of the national debt has gone up to record levels, an astounding
$546,668?
That's over half a million and it would take the average American more
than 10 years to pay it all off with a 100% tax and it is still rising
at over $55,000 a year.
With Obama in the White House and tax and spend liberals in control of
key committees in Congress, the social reformers are out for blood.
Make no mistake. Our economy could be wiped away by Obama, no President
in history has spent more and taken control of more U.S. businesses in
one year.
Just 21.9% of the total $787.2 Billion in economic stimulus funding has
been spent to date and Congress is planning new attacks on your wallet,
and in state legislatures and cities and towns from coast-to-coast.
Remember when you vote in 2010 AND in 2012.
