Allow me to elaborate for the Dems. When
the Repubs are in power it is all their fault. When the Dems are in
power it is still the Repubs fault. Hope that helps. web posted May 31, 2012 To to poster commenting on students being
promoted but not being allowed to play sports. You are confusing
two groups, the SC High School League, which oversees ALL athletic
teams and the school principal. The principal can promote
students but has nothing to do to a students eligibility to play
sports, that rests with the high school league. If schools or
principals violate the High School league rules they face punishment,
i.e. Fox Creek a few years ago when they were stripped of all of their
wins for violating SC High School League rules. SC High School
League has a no pass no play policy. If you want to play
pass, very simple.
I have never heard of a high school principal promoting a
student that has failed. At the elementary and middle school
level it does happen SOMETIMES. Something to think about
though. If a student has been held back at any point, for any
reason, from pre-K to grade 6 they are already a year older than all of
their classmates. If they fail again in middle school they will
be two years older than their classmates. That means you could
have a 16 year old boy in the 8th grade with a 13 or 14 year old
girl. There is a huge difference in size and maturity in that
classroom. As a parent I would have a problem with those dynamics
in my daughters class, so as unpopular as it is, the only solution is
to place them in the next grade. If the student is struggling
academically maybe involvement in career or tech classes at the high
school will interest them and they will excel. I don't have a
solution to this very complex problem, just something to think
about. Maybe alternative school is an option but that is usually
reserved for students who have behavior problems not academic
issues. web posted May 31, 2012 I would just like to say that I am so
happy that they changed the car line at Merriwether Elementary. I take
my child there for speech twice a week and there were numerous
occasions when parents almost ran my children and me over in the past.
The new car line process has been wonderful. I think it has proved to
be very safe and effective. I just want to think everyone for their
hard work in putting it together and I hope that it will continue for
many years to come. web posted May 31, 2012 It has always been RACE, and it will
continue until God Take control of these kind of situations. Yes I am
black, but I will never let White or any other race take control of my
freedom or my family's freedom.
Already been there, & I will not go through this again. True
Example . Both boys graduate from the same college, both was friends,
one was black and one was white. Now this is the part that really pushed
me to the limit. The Year was 2004, & this company had several job
openings. For office positions and maybe 2 for dock work (
Labor). I knew in my heart that my son would be able to get one of the
office positions, because he graduated @ the top of his graduating
class, impeccable resume, dressed nice, excellent background check
& raised very respectfully.
Ok, he got hired, but for a dock position, and the white friend
got hired for one of the office jobs. The friend had got in all
kind of trouble @ college, tickets for no driver's license , speech was
terrible, low grades and had to go to summer school to complete his
college degree. Much more could be said, but I wanted to give everyone
a vivid example.
My son told the company that they could keep that job, and told them
that SLAVERY years, were not in his resume. I told him good for him.
People you have to do the right thing, and speak up for self, do not
let anyone take your freedom away again.
Now tell me, was the firing of Dr. Mary R. Crenshaw not about race ?
Race plays a card in everything you do, read the bible and obtain
knowledge and wisdom. I will always speak up for the right, I am not
afraid. Have a good day.
Editor's note: As a reader stated, Crenshaw may have been hired because
of her race, but she was fired for being in control of a decline in
stats. In other words, she was ineffiencent. web posted May 31, 2012 This is about [removed] but you do not

No joke I just gave birth. I guess what I am trying to say is if you

ignorant/rude co-workers. I even called to complain after I left and
nothing was done, I didn't even get an apology. I will not be returning. web posted May 31, 2012 Had a thought about Obama's big push for

At times it seems as though the world is falling apart. We have had
murders, burglaries, thefts, assaults, and the list goes on. When are
we, especially those of us in our community, going to wake up and say
"enough is enough!"? Times have changed for the worst. We have people
getting government assistance that don't want a job if offered to
them...people used to be embarrassed to admit they needed help. We have
kids running the streets late at night...where are the parents and
rules of the house? We go to parties, get intoxicated, get into an
argument, pull a gun or knife, and kill the person who doesn't agree
with our point of view...we no longer teach our children to handle
disagreements.
The only way to change our future is to know where our children
are...know who they associate with...teach them to have thicker
skin...teach them to be responsible for their actions...and instill in
them that the American Dream is still to get an education, buy a house,
get married, have children, and be a productive member of society. It
will not have a chance to get better unless we take a stand. Enough is
enough.
Editor's note: If America did that, there wouldn't be any Democrats
left. web posted May 30, 2012 The awards day program at JET was
interesting. It was noticeably unorganized and there were many
kids names left off or many awards that were not given out for whatever
reason. Some even had the wrong year. It was a let down.
It was apparent that this was thrown together at the last minute.
Our kids deserve better than what they were given. web posted May 30, 2012 I want to know why if you go to any of the
merriweather schools and you fail the subjects required to pass to the
next grade you can talk to the principal and get promoted
on to the next grade but the child can't play sports what a
joke. My kids work hard to stay on the honor roll and for what???
Also last year at the elementary school they had a
problem child and passed him just so they could get rid of
him. Greg Anderson needs to look into this. Also the kids I'm
talking about has missed more days in school then [he/she] went and no
one has done anything about it. DSS needs to get involved! Also
is it true that Merchant is being moved to strom Thurmond???

What's the world coming to? This is a quiet neighborhood. web posted May 30, 2012Mitt Romney:
· After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law
School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as
an attorney.
· As a venture-capitalist, Romney's first major business deal
involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store
in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called
Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.
· Romney or his company Bain Capital (using what became known as
the "Bain Way") would go on to perform the same kinds of business
miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy,
Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group,
Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.
Got your calculators handy? Let's recap.
· Volunteer campaign worker for his dad's gubernatorial campaign
1 year.
· Unpaid intern in Governor's office 8 years.
· Mormon missionary in Paris 2 years.
· Unpaid bishop and stake president for his church 10 years. No
salary as president of the Olympics 3 years.
· No salary as MA governor 4 years.
· That's a grand total of 28 years of unpaid service to his
country, his community and his church. Why? Because that's the kind of
man Mitt Romney is!
And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of
his income....Obama gave 1%
Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%
This is real character vs....well you know what!
Romney may not be the best representative the Republicans could have
selected. At least I know what religion he is, and that he won't
desecrate the flag, bow down to foreign powers, or squander my money on
vacations. I know he has the ability to turn this financial
debacle that the "Spending President" has gotten us into. We
didn't know when Obama said he'd give us change, he meant nickels and
dimes, and he would get the big bucks. We won’t like all the
things necessary to recover from this debt, but someone with Romney’s
background can do it. web posted May 30, 2012 You know you live in an Upside-down Land

YouTube web posted May 30, 2012 Who is Coach Brown? Does this person mean
Coach Black? If you are going to criticize someone, at least be smart
enough to know what you are talking about. web posted May 29, 2012 Today a
"President" that we really do not know much about visits the Tomb of
The Unknowns. At least we do know those soldiers were
Americans.
We know they served their country with honor and bravery. We know
far less about this occupant of OUR White House. web posted May 29, 2012 Ref..Speeding down dirt road arrests..
I support these men, because no one else in the county has taken them
seriously. There are too many people who refuse to obey any laws in
this county. You'll find a lot of these fine citizens wandering the
streets aimlessly, driving their pimp cars up and down the road,
hanging out in front of that former Councilmans Johnston liquor store
or near it, speeding, having babies and sucking off the gov-ment teat.
To preserve the law in Edgefield County, we need at least a 1200 person
Military Police Battalion. Where does that leave those of us who need a
visible law enforcement presense? We have to rely on our own forms of
justice. Sometimes people have just had enough and do what others will
not do. And something needs to be done to prevent speeding down a
private dirt road. Help these men out.
And finally, what are you going to do when Obama uirinates on the 2d
Amendment and sends Law Enforcement to your home to confisicate your
weapons...self protection? Talk about giving the bad people the keys to
the kingdom. BIG QUESTION....Where does Sheriff Dobey stand concerning
preserving Our 2d Amerndment right? Is Sheriff Doeby an Oath Keeper? Or
is Sheriff Dobey an Obama supporter and will help Obama turn our
country into a Dictatorship. You big Sheriff Dobey supporters better
ask him these questions or you may find yourself disarmed and
vulnerable to roaming Obama people. Mr. Parkman also needs to answer
these questions. Many of us see this president as a fake, fraud,
anti-American, Communist and not fit to hold this Office. Many of us
view Obama supporters as same. This country is about to split in half
and it is important to know whether our local law enforcement is going
to be our enemy or friend when Obama makes his power grab as dictator.
Editor's note: I'm all for asking candidates where they stand on
issues. However, I would discourage anyone from taking the law into
their own hands. More than likely they will be the ones going to jail. web posted May 29, 2012 [Name removed] is interested in the

Wrong! I was writing as someone who visits and comes in and out
of the school. The comment about treating others the same was a
personal comment about how I feel I treat others the same and the way I
like to be treated. What I meant was that I don't see that in my
coming and going. Seems to be prefences there and others not
working. I also meant that I think color is still playing a part
in hiring just like it was a few years ago, and that that shouldn't
"qualify" you for a job, much less keep your job for you if you aren't
doing a good job.
Seems to me, like the post I read Saturday, that the Teachers are the
reason the kids are successful there, but that they suffer a good bit
as employees. web posted May 28, 2012 RE: "I just wanted to inform you that Greg

Questionable to who? If you are on the receiving end because you
are a weak leader, you can't teach, you failed to educate our children,
you're lazy, etc., then I guess you could say the decisions being made
are questionable. However, from this perspective, it appears Greg
is taking the bull by the horns and cleaning up a mess that is long
over due. [Heck], I think he needs to use a bigger broom! web posted May 28, 2012 So interesting to see that one of Obama's
campaign leaders is actually a Bain capital type guy. Federico Pena is
a good example of all the things the Obama campaign is going against.
He is guilty off all the attacks they are launching on Governor
Romney. Double standard here? Frankly, I don't see anything wrong
with free enterprise, but to these folks who oppose anyone making
money, this seems like hypocrisy to me. What else is new with the
liberals? All they can do is attack businesses-they sure aren't
supporting businesses and they have no other way to campaign but to
attack.
Oh, and to the black folks who are so upset about the past slavery in
this country, I have a question. Are you OK with the fact that you, as
well as the rest of us, are becoming the new slaves in this country
under the policies of this President? How can you vote for someone who
wants to control you, control your personal lives, control your income,
control, control , control ? Do you not see that there are a few
"plantation owners" out there and a lot of slaves in the policies they
are pushing? All you have to do is understand a socialist or communist
system. If you are content to live hand to mouth, then OK, but look a
little closer at what is going on. We have new slave owners trying to
run this country and we are all the new slaves. I thought the blacks
had come further along than that. web posted May 28, 2012 What Are President Obama's Blockbuster

Editor's note: I take it you consider
this to be a failed season? web posted May 26, 2012 It appears the last post came from the
principal and I must agree with her. She DOES treat everyone the
same - BAD! She has NO control over her school, she is
unprofessional, unfriendly and clueless as to how to run a
school. She let the children run the school but she stands up to
the teachers and parents when they express their concerns to her.
That school has suffered tremendously from some great teachers leaving
because of her horrible demeanor towards teachers, staff and
parents. It is imperative that the school board takes a look at
the moral and figure out what better person would be able to come in
and turn things around. Too bad that school will lose plenty more
people because she isn't listening to the people that make the school
as successful as it is - THE TEACHERS. This will affect the most
important people - the children. They too suffer when things are
not right. Children tend to become a product of their
environment. Douglas Elementary needs and enema and it needs to
start with the Principal's office.

themselves to the administrator, not being the administrator. I could

I have been told that Coach Pete Meadows is interested in
the job at
ST. From what I have been told he coached a summer team last year at ST
and was very successful and there are several players that go to him
for one on one training. From what I have read about him on the web he
has been a very successful coach. Sounds like this would be a good

Some of you would be surprised to know who agrees with the post the

see coming and going from the school, there are some people in the

Sometimes it looks like people are either doing nothing or what I would
think is someone else's job.
Jobs are hard to come by, and even though color has said to have played
a part over the last fews years in hiring practices, that doesn't mean
hire inadequate people based on color, nor does it mean you get to keep
that job you aren't very good at just because of the color of your skin
or your connections.

lawsuit with All God's Creatures. I agree that Ms. Holcomb did an
outstanding thing by establishing the first animal rescue shelter in
Edgefield county. I knew Ms. Holcomb before she took over Animal
Refuge Keepers. All God's Creatures has been a tremendous asset
to Edgefield county. I have also had several dealings with Ms.
Holcomb since she took over the shelter in North Augusta and in my
opinion she is not the same person. The person that created All
God's Creatures in Edgefield county got greedy when she saw dollar
signs with the over one million dollar trust that was left to
her. When she first established All God's Creatures, she didn't
have access to that money so she set about the work of rescuing animals
and made a good name for herself. She saw dollar signs and just
couldn't resist. The sign in front of All God's Creatures doesn't
even say anything about rescuing animals. The sign advertises her
boarding and grooming business, which is how she is making her profit,
which was never the purpose of Animal Refuge Keepers. web posted May 22, 2012 How can an "award winning" high school
publish a yearbook that is filled with grammatical errors? I feel
so sorry for the parents and seniors who have ad pages. The money
they paid to have something special done for their child that will be
seen by everyone only to be filled with errors in spelling, capitals,
and punctuation. Maybe STHS needs to have someone better educated
to edit their yearbook. Someone said that maybe the parents sent
in the errors like that. Well, two things tell me that's not the
case. First of all, I know several of the people who have ads in
the yearbook and they all are educated and know how to write
sentences. Secondly, look throughout the yearbook and you will
see many other errors. Who does the editing of the
yearbook? Is it students? Is it a teacher or a committee of
teachers? Is it an administrator? I am embarrassed that a
book that costs that much money and time to publish, and even more
money for the parents who chose to design an ad page for their child,
is out there for the public to see. I'm sure someone will
blame it on Jostens. If Jostens is at fault, then every student
at the high school who purchased a yearbook should have their money
refunded. In the very least, an apology letter should be sent out
to the parents of STHS children apologizing for such sloppy work. It is
a sad representation of STHS and the intelligence level of the people
in charge of its publication. web posted May 22, 2012 Sad to say, but it is a common occurrence
for even good people to be tempted by suddenly inheriting or being
given control of a lot of money. Whether Ms Holcomb was a great rescuer
in the past, before being handed over a $1 million facility, has little
bearing on how the $1million was handled. I assume the court case will
focus on the contract, whether it was breached, and whether the funds
were disbursed properly. Whatever the outcome, it is to be hoped that
the trust fund wont be drained by the litigation, and that some funds
will remain to care for the homeless animals (though I gather there are
very few rescued animals currently at the facility). web posted May 22, 2012 Have anyone seen the yearbook for Strom

I see the comments about the morale at Parker and JET, but they are not
the only ones. There is definitely one where there are good
teachers are seriously considering looking elsewhere for the same
reason.
Teachers work so hard every day for these kids. No one wants to
get up and go to a job they hate, and not because of the kids, but the
adults. Morale has slowly died here and eventually, if not
already, it will catch up in the way the kids are taught and what they
learn.

Edgefield County all my life and I know that Mrs. Holcomb stepped out
and established on her own AGC, the first animal shelter in Edgefield
County, to rescue animals. I know she has been dedicated to that effort
for many years and has been where most of us would not dare to
trod. She has taken in many, many and dealt with horrendous
hoarding situations in Saluda, Edgefield, and McCormick Counties, while
I know little about the referred to law suit, I have always found
Denise Holcomb to be kind, compassionate, fair and honest, and it
disturbs me that this case through Wandering Minds is receiving some
ill-warranted publicity. Come on people be fair, let the court deal
with the case, but give credit where it is due. AGC has been a
tremendous asset to Edgefield County and that is because of the efforts
of Denise Holcomb. Enough said! web posted May 21, 2012 Let's see what Mr. Anderson has planned
for the district. He wants teachers to be happy and he wants to restore
their eagerness to go to work each day. Is he willing to look at the

JET teachers and parents about the decisions that he makes. As a
parent, I am embarrassed by what I see at JET under his absence and
poor judgement of leadership.

debt than the federal government accumulated in the first 219 years of
the Republic [that would be more than double]. Don't confuse deficit
and debt, a tried and true Democrat tactic for smoke a mirrors.
I am not confusing debt and deficit. I am not confused at
all. The deficit is the annual increase in debt. The debt
is the total accumulation of all current and previous deficits and
surpluses.
You claim here " Obama has doubled the debt he swore to cut in half by
the end of his first term. Maybe you should read a real news site: The
Five Trillion Dollar Man - CNS News"
I simply pointed what your own linked article says. It says
this. "At the close of business on Jan. 20, 2009, the day Obama
was inaugurated, the federal government’s debt was
$10,626,877,048,913.08, according to the U.S. Treasury. By the close of
business on April 16, 2012—as many Americans were working to finalize
their 2011 tax returns to meet an April 17 filing deadline—the debt had
reached $15,654,638,525,397.64."
So I asked you how $10Trillion doubles without reaching
$20Trillion. How does that happen?
Editor's note: The "inherited" Bush debt was $4.9 trillion (two wars
and 9/11 in the mix). Obama has added over $5 trillion, that is more
than double. Obama swore he would cut the debt in half by his first
term (a total of $10 trillion to $5 trillion). Instead he increased it
50%, or $5 trillion plus.
Add it up any way you want. It is still double. web

let's say Obama was born in Hawaii as he claims. Or if he wasn't, then
his mother was an American citizen which would still make him an
American citizen regardless of where he was born. Let's just take the
citizenship issue off the table. That STILL does not explain why he
lied about his birthplace at least once, which he has done anyway you
look at it. Obama either lied to the literacy agency when he approved
his biography in his book in 1991 about being born in Kenya or he is
either lying about being born in Hawaii in order to run for president.
He simply can't claim to be born in both places. The REAL question is
why the lies? Obviously he did it one time or the other. That's where
he is caught. The REAL ISSUE is his character. Either he was trying to
boost sales of his book in 1991 by claiming to be some international
celebrity author or he was trying to protect his eligibility to run for
president. And where was the media in either case? Why didn't
they bring this up in 2008? I know where the media was. They were too

that her house had a "For Sale" sign out front. If she is moving,
what will happen to All God's Creatures? Now I understand they are
still refusing to accept rescued animals, but are grooming and boarding
other dogs and cats. Recently I heard her state on WJES that she
is also microchipping animals for the public. All God's
Creatures' website states that they are a non-profit organization whose
mission is to rescue and find loving
homes for abandoned animals. How can you turn away abused and
abandoned animals who desperately need a home, yet take in animals for
boarding and grooming? Also, is there even a board of directors

I applaud Mr. William "Bill" Smith and the way he is dealing with this
mess. He appears to have a lot of integrity and does not want to hurt
his district by going on the ballot in an incorrect way. I really
appreciated his letter and his way of dealing with this. He seems to
care about those he would represent getting better representation.
Maybe others are more concerned about their own political aspirations.
Don't we have enough of those kinds of people in our lives already? I

I have read all about the Dept. Sheriff being fired and you are not
being told, by the Sheriff, why he was fired.
What if you were to person being fired and you didn’t want the entire
county knowing the reasons for your dismissal. The Sheriff is showing
the Deputy respect by not discussing his business with the public.
The employee is as liberty to say what ever the employee would like to
say, be it the truth or a lie.
The Sheriff, if an honorable man, will keep his mouth shut, even if the
public wants to complain about something they know very little about.
The business at the Sheriff’s Office should never become today’s gossip.
Just remember, in the future you, your family, or your friends might be
in the Sheriff’s Office because of something you did to someone or
something someone did to you. Knowing that what ever is discussed with
the Sheriff, will not become gossip for the public, I’m sure is the way
you want it, if it’s about you.

honorably. HE’S

Why? Because they vote along racial lines, and have that as an

Youtube!
So with that, now that the dumb mass political hack leftist judge that
gave Nathaniel Jackson a pass on his "non-residency" issue based on
some obscure, erroneously interpreted law from the 1800's, set a
presedence, guess now we can really unseat Brother Bibbs and Sister
Sallie. I think I may throw my hat in the ring to run against
Bibbs even though I'm not really a resident in his district!
But! Because the judge set the precedence in Nathaniel Jackson's
case, "I, do "intend" to move into Bibbs' district," so I should
qualify, right?
Watch out Bibbs, you're next. web

question for the editor. What would you do if you were running for
election and they wanted to disqualify you after you followed the rules
they [assuming the political party] said you had to do? What if you
were running for senate or sheriff or county council?
Editor's note: That's several questions rolled into one. First, I would
have followed the law - and if I did not I would accept being
disqualified. Second, if I were in Mr. Parkman's shoes, I would back
out at once knowing that the reason for being removed from office as
Chief Magistrate will no doubt come out during the campaign. Thirdly, I
would follow the avenue that Mr. Smith is taking. If I knew I was added
to the ballot improperly, I would withdraw and run as a petition

Of course, I am not a candidate and never will be so it really doesn't
matter what I think. web

whoever you want. Personally I hope to vote for someone who is legally
on the ballot without going through some kind of hoops to get
there.
Maybe this kind of dishonesty is normal for Edgefield elections. If so,
how sad for all of us. Seems like there is such a push for knowing the
history of this area and honoring it. How can people be proud of things

posted May 10, 2012 President
Obama, the leader of our country, has "evolved" his views when it comes
to same sex couples. It seems in sexual relationships and in particular
for the president, a redefinition of marriage is the order of the day.
The president seems prone to not offend gay couples by calling sin for
what it is, but instead find a way to accommodate this particular
behavior and dismiss Biblical teaching out of hand on this important
topic.
Far be it for me to judge any man's heart on the matter of faith or
Christian salvation, but it does appear at best that the president has
changed the definition of what the Bible defines as marriage being
ordained by God or rather it is God Himself instead who has been
redefined from the absolute Holy eternal entity He is and substituted
for the "almighty" government instead.

what do you expect? web

posted May 10, 2012 My family is
not from this area and where I grew up, I had never heard of a "At
Will" state. Why would the people in a state allow such a law where
they can be fired from their job at the pleasure of their employer? If
a person is fired from their job they should be told why. What do they
put on an application for another job when it asks why you were
terminated. All they can say is, "I do not know, I was not given a
reason." If a person has not had disciplinary action taken against them
or written up for wrong doing, then it seems to me that the employer
has a personal or political bias towards the employee.
I for one am going to write the governor of South Carolina and find out
about the "At Will" law and how to go about changing it. It is a
ridiculous law, in my opinion, and should be abolished. It is for the
employer and does nothing for the employee.
Editor's note: You are confusing two employment situations. South
Carolina is a "Right to Work" state and the situation of employees of
elected officials. Regarding the latter, an elected official hires his
or her employees with the understanding they work at the "pleasure of
the elected official". An elected official does not need to offer a
reason to dismiss an employee. However, I can assure you anyone
dismissed is done so for cause, whether that cause is made known is
irrelevant. web

at Pettigrew's letter to the editor claiming he had no financial ties
to Bettis Rainsford. That may, or may not be true. But one thing I do
know is that Pettigrew is one of "Bettis' boys". I had to deal with him
when he was county administrator, and there was more than one time that
he had "Bettis' back" at the expense of many, many law abiding, tax
paying citizens of Edgefield County.
How do you think Pettigrew got the Administrator job in the first
place? Rainsford's connections with Monroe Kneece. Oh yeah, and then
Pettigrew gets a $10,000 raise over the position's advertised hiring
wage, virtually seconds after he's named administrator. How did that
happen? Maybe the good ole' boy network? Run by whom?
Now, Pettigrew appears to get his name on the ballot thru a back door
at the state level at the last minute...hmmm. Isn't Rainsford's
son/step son one of the local party officials?
And didn't Pettigrew resign (under public pressure, thanks to Edgefield
Daily reporting) a year, or less, after he got the Administrator's job
for which his qualifications were questionable in the first place? Now
he wants to go to the State Chambers to represent Edgefield County?
Wonder who's back he'll have then...
Now, this could all be coincidence. But then again, this is Edgefield
County politics. web

enforcement agencies more often than not, are underpaid, over worked
and generally unappreciated as they go about their dangerous profession
day to day. Most of them do this with the blasé attitude that
its just another day on the job for them, but for the families who sit
and home, the children, who put on a brave faces before Daddy or Mommy
leave for “just work.” These are the commitments, the loyalties the
protection they give to our communities, in which they are embedded in,
their children play with your children. That deputy at any moment could
be running down an armed felon as easily as he could be pulling and
injured child from a wrecked vehicle, talking sweetly to her and
sharing a sucker he had in his pocket. Courage, Loyalty, Duty and Honor
are the defining characteristics of protectors, sheepdogs and warriors.
These are not only words they are life paths chosen by the few who gave
their loyalty wholeheartedly to make a change, despite the pay, despite
the danger, the despite the long hours away from the family. They
trusted their higher would reciprocate the same driven determination to
make their little part of their world peaceful, safe and free
from wolves. “We sleep peaceably in our beds at night only because
rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf.”- Orwell
Power, especially power unchecked can be a dangerous avenue to travel,
are we asking our sheriff if he to is doing this out of Courage,
Loyalty, Duty and Honor. Is he protecting, mentoring and above all
being loyal to his men, the same men who make his office possible? Does
he know the families of the men he sends out everyday, “Once more into
the breach my friends...” He may be a great Sheriff and if he gets
re-elected again good for him but he needs to realize his stature was
not built on being a rock star or a millionaire but on the backs of the
men below him who do the grunt work, lose times with their families and
risk it all for you sheriff....for your loyalty and for legacy. Do the
right thing and make it a good one. Throwing men to the wolves because

agreed with the editor's opinion piece this morning. If the Supreme
Court of SC has made a decision, then it needs to be respected, whether
one agrees with it or not. It is not acceptable to just move ahead and
do what one thinks they have a right to do. That seems to be the
attitude of a lot of people these days, including the administration in
charge of this country. When people start putting themselves above the
law, there is a problem. Why would we want to elect someone with an
attitude like that? We have too many egos in charge of every
phase of our lives as it is.
Our lawmakers need to respect and follow the law themselves. It is
simple, these folks that were taken off the ballot made a mistake and
they are paying the price. Too bad for them but the law is the law. To
drag this ordeal out, and to spend money on this situation at this
point, is ridiculous and in my opinion dangerous to our political
system. I will tell you this. I do not respect or support anyone who is
involved in this kind of manipulation of the system. Anyone who votes
for one of these people should have their vote disqualified. I will
vote for those that are on the ballot legally and that have not been
removed by the Supreme Court. Come on folks, wake up!!
One can say that it is nothing against the candidates, but the
candidates are making the final decision of whether or not to put their
names back on the ballot. If a candidate has any moral fiber, they
should just accept what the law says and accept the fact that for this
cycle they are disqualified. I do put the ultimate responsibility at
the door of the candidates. People running for office need to be honest
with themselves and the voters. I am still patriotic enough to have
this hope. web

Its nice to see you let your intelligence show. If the Sheriff had a

change in the Sheriff's Office. I bet if we were to give the Deputies a
Physical Fitness Test this weekend most of them will not pass it. I can
think of 6 off the top of my head I know would not pass . So this year
when you go to Vote lets not Vote according to the party they are

better Dept. for our County. My Vote is for Parkman. And if you are
smart yours will be too.
Editor's note: Chances are Parkman will not be a candidate in the
general election. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. That remains to be
seen in the fall out of the controversy
that has erupted.
The Sheriff does not have to give a reason to dismiss an employee. They
all work at the "pleasure" of the elected official. As cold as that may
sound, it is the law.
I personally know the deputy in question, I agree he is a good deputy,
and agree he has performed his duties above and beyond what is
required. However, the deputy serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff as
an elected official. What I, you, or anyone else thinks does not
matter.
You can vote accordingly. web

AMERICA !
Dear American Taxpayer,
For only the second time in my adult life, I am not ashamed of my
country. I want to thank the hard working American people for paying
$242 thousand dollars for my vacation in Spain .
My daughter Sasha, several long-time family friends, my personal staff
and various guests had a wonderful time.
Honestly, you just haven't lived until you have stayed in a $2,500.00
per night private 3-story villa at a 5-Star luxury hotel.
Thank you also for the use of Air Force Two and the 70 Secret Service
personnel who tagged
along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all times. By the way,
if you happen to be visiting the Costa del Sol, I highly recommend the
Buenaventura Plaza restaurant in Marbella ; great lobster with rice and
oysters! I'm ashamed to admit the lobsters we ate in Martha's Vineyard
were not quite as tasty, but what can you do if you're not in Europe ,
you have to just grin and bear it?
Air Force Two (which costs $11,351 per hour to operate according to
Government Accounting Office reports) only used 47,500 gallons of jet
fuel for this trip and carbon emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2.
These are only rough estimates, but they are close. That's quite a
carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must ask
the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and
drive less too, so we can lessen our combined carbon footprint.
I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on
the table and trying to make ends meet. So I do appreciate your
sacrifices and do hope you find work soon.
I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a luxury
vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few
days.
Cordially,
Michelle (Moochelle) Obama
P.S. Thank you as well for the $2 BILLION dollar trip to India from
which we just returned!
P.SS. Thank you, too, for that vacation trip to Martha's Vineyard; it
was fabulous.
And thanks for that second smaller jet that took our dog Bo to Martha's
Vineyard so we and the children could have him with us while we were
away from the White House for eleven days. After all, we couldn't take
him on Air Force One because he might pee on some wires or something.
P.SSS. Oh, I almost forgot to say thanks also for our two-week trip to
Hawaii at Christmas. That 7,000 square foot house was great!
P.SSSs don't forget my ski trip to Vail this winter and now the girls
and I are in Africa with my mom. All this while Barack golf’s and
campaigns to keep my trips coming for the next 4 years !
Love Ya!Remember, we all have to share the pain of these economic times
equally!
P.SSSSS. And thank you for Malia's spring break trip to Mexico, just

about the recent second vote of TAP at the schools. I realize
everyone was given a second chance and that the majority rules.
Agreed. My concern is that the principals were allowed to be
present, and even participate in the getting the total counts for that
vote. That seems like a pretty ridiculous idea. If the
principals lied about the votes to begin with, and then were allowed to
handle and add up the votes the second time around, who's to say they
didn't lie about the totals? Why weren't votes collected by a
third party and added up by something with no involvement in TAP?
The post the other day about the things teachers were told before
voting is suspect, and I wonder why, other than the incentive money,
that principals are all so bent to enforce something that seems to
create a giant crater among their own employees. Did the
principals benefit from a second "yes" majority that makes them so
determined? web

wanted what was " BEST " for the kids @ MES. Then why in the start of
the fourth nine weeks would you make a change as to when the kids could
take accelarated reading test? The kids could go in in the morning
before class and after school to take test, then in the fourth nine
weeks go and CHANGE the times.
My child set a GOAL at the begining of the year (250 point club) and
that was taken away. There are kids at go to special needs classest ge
extra hel during pull out time(reading to) to get extra help and the
kids that go to GT also lose this time in class to read and take test.
So I guess because these kids need extra help or go to GT to BETTER
themseleves they should not get time to test. It is SAD that someone in
his position should be someone that the kids COULD be looking up to but
can't. Why would you stand in the way of them reaching ANY goal that
they set in life?? My child said that " Mr. Marchant is just "a bully
and I thought that they didn't want bullying in the schools". Even
these kids can see it. We got rid of Cranshaw, we need to clean house
at the schools in the Merriwether Dist. and put principals and
teacher's that "CARE and want what is BEST for our kids future". I
guess Mr. Marchant is having a HARD time "TRYING" to fill the shoes
that were let behind (Mr. Hewitt's). We need more people like (removed)

I said all that to say this:
Perhaps Force Protection, (Now General Dynamics) could explore buying

half of America, this so called president is America's first
White-Arabic-Muslim Communist fake president. Where is the African part
of Obama? In Kenya is the best answer available. Or better yet, ask one
of these clown circuit judges who visit Edgefield to hear cases
involving Edgefield county's alledged criminals. Most of these judges
are Obama supporters and apparently support Obama people who commit
crimes. Who appoints these
clown judges to their positions of incompetency? Maybe they work for
Ringling Brother's Circus and visit Edgefield where they can get some
laughs. Certainly, their ability to put criminals away is a laugh and
their ability to keep our country safe from these criminals is a joke.
These clown judges just slap these alledged criminals on the wrist and
let them slip back under the rock they crawled out from to commit
another crime for which they will be slapped on the wrist again and

troubling report of the problem of obesity in this country and the
medical problems associated with obesity. Since we are all going to be
paying for everyone's medical bills, we may want to think about this
issue. I have a partial solution. How about instituting a weight limit
in order to obtain and continue to receive assistance from the
government? I just wonder what would happen if they actually listened
to Michelle Obama and not be overweight. If they can't get their free
food, maybe they would listen to her. She is such a big proponent of
controlling what people eat. I hope the Obama administration really
cracks down on people who are overweight and are on food stamps and
medicaid. (Like that would ever happen.)
I am not in favor of the government telling us what to do, what to eat
or what to buy, but hey... since these liberals are such big proponents
of all of this control, then they need to put their money where their
mouths are, literally. Think of all the money we would save in this
country if just this part of freebies were taken away from people until
they lose weight. Hmmm. Maybe the liberals wouldn't have to go after
all these seniors who actually worked for their social security
benefits. Hopefully Obama will do this and take away assistance from
those who are obese-this sure seems to be a big issue for Michelle!!! I
bet she would support this idea. web

That is being done at this time-there are systems that work at other
schools-choosing the best one requires a little leg work, but it is
being addressed.
I think the main crux of things is that the arrogance, and the "I
thought of it, I implemented it, whether it works or not is irrelevant"
attitude is what is rubbing people the wrong way. If it doesn't work,
then admit it, Obama, oops, I mean Marchant. We all make
