Editor's post:
There
are several posts submitted in regards to the Bobby
Hickson case that have been
withheld. Some because they are "over the top" and others because they
reveal information about the victim. Let the court system work and in
the end the truth will come out. The Sheriff's Office does not arrest
people on hearsay. Hickson is innocent until proven guilty. The same
goes for the victim.

To
Editor, On the pictures that you edit
on McCain &
Barrack on the younger years.
I believe McCain is about 70 years older that Barrack that is why he
does not have on the Service Uniform. It looks like a costume that he
is wearing when he was about 16 years old don’t hold that against him
he was just being a child. Are you really a racist editor because your
comments that you throw in your wondering minds says you are? It a
shame if you are because how are we supposed to come together as a town
Community with the out put you put out. And don’t give me that 1St
amendment either.
Editor's note: Yup, you got me, I faked the picture that was sent in of
Barrack Obama dressing as a muslim in his college years next to John
McCain as a decorated fighter pilot that spent more time in a Viet Nam
prison camp enduring torture than Obama has served in his entire life
as an elected official. Obama served just over 140 days as a US Senator
when he ran for President. I bet John McCain wished he could have
served just 140 days in the torture camp. Granted, I think John McCain
is the worst candidate the Republicans could find for election, but he
stands head and shoulders above the marxist Democrat Barrack Obama.
Either way, we lose as a country. One just faster than the other.
As a second note: I do not edit photos sent in by readers. And just for
good measure, if McCain is "70 years older" than Obama he would be over
100 years old. So your pitiful political knowledge is only surpassed by
your pitiful intellectual capasity. I can see how that would make you a
Democrat that calls me a racist for not bowing down at the alter of the
lord Obama.
Furthermore, if I am a racist, why have I voted or supported Sheriff
Adell Dobey, Bill Clyburn, and Ken Collier for elective office?
Who is racist?

I
find it most shocking that Bobby Hickson was released on bond.
Obviously (according to the article) there was enough evidence to
charge him with kidnapping and molesting a minor. How unfair to the
minor and her family that he gets to continue with “life as usual”,
work as an EMT at the “family“ local ambulance company (surely there
are minor patients) and enjoy HIS children, which are minors as well.
He gets to walk out and is free to do WHATEVER to WHOMEVER. Where is
the justice for the violated minor? Adults are supposed to protect
children, NOT molest them. I am sure this minor cannot continue “life
as usual” because of the traumatic situation. What judge would allow
this man to post a bond? Who is to say that this has not happened
before to other minors and will not potentially happen again? Thank God
she was brave enough to tell and come forward. By telling, she has
potentially saved the next victim. I pray if this has happened to
others, that they will also come forward. I feel the violated minor
needs to be protected because of speaking. The only way for that to
take place is for him to be locked up until a court appearance. I
believe that according to the article, it stated that evidence was
found at Bobby Hickson’s home and more charges were pending. Evidently
enough evidence was found for the kidnapping and molesting charges to
stand. I happen know BOTH families and there is absolutely no way the
minor child “made this up” for “revenge”. Revenge of what? The minor
trusted this man and loved this family. The minor victim is devastated
and so traumatized that I feel that speaks for itself as well as the
evidence collected at Bobby Hickson’s home. It deeply saddens me that
“other” charges are pending. The current charges are bad enough. I
believe in the phrase “innocent until proven guilty” but I think the
actions of the minor and the evidence speak for themselves. How soon
before a court date?
Editor's note: Do not look for a court date anytime this year.

I
understand the premise behind the settled lawsuit involving the
ECSB…but there are two things I don’t understand: 1- what was the
point of the lawsuit if the district didn’t have to publicly admit
guilt and 2- why would someone, who is angry enough to sue, want to
remain employed by the district that treated them so
poorly?
I don’t think I could work for someone who takes money that should have
been spent on the children and puts it into in their own pockets (I am
aware the insurance company will pay the settlement…but doesn’t that
mean the district’s premiums will increase? And won’t that increase be
covered by the taxes I pay?).
Editor's note: If you want the amount of premiums paid to cover
discrimination lawsuits, elect school board members that won't keep
getting sued for discriminating.

My
family has known Bobby Hickson and family for over 15 years. The
Hickson Family is a hardworking, wonderful family with great morals.
Bobby is very involved with his family and is a great father. My kids
have been to birthday parties and other events with the Hickson's. This
revengeful act is hurting the friends and family in our community and I
hope and pray that the court system proves this in the near future.
Here is a man that is trying to work and raise a family and now he and
his family have to face this. Once the posting hits the media, the
majority of viewers go ahead associate the alleged person with guilt
and in this case, this is so undeserving.

Concerning
the arrest and release of Bobby Hickson....I, too, believe that you are
guilty until proven innocent. HOWEVER, when it comes to child
abuse/sexual abuse in anyway concerning a minor, it horrifies me that
someone could be released so easily. I have personally
experienced with my family the "Victim's Rights Side" and believe me,
my experience definitely indicated that the Person Charged with a Crime
and who commits a crime is given so many more rights than the
Victim. I applaud the child for coming forward; it took a very
brave, strong child to make it through such a horrible experience and
be able to come forward and provide enough detailed information to
provide the law enforcement the evidence to receive and execute a
search warrant and then make the arrest. This child will
NEVER be the same. Her and her family's life have forever
changed. This child trusted and loved this family and this "man",
(for lack of a better word) abused that trust. What scares
me is that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Things like
this usually do not happen in "singles". I pray for the victim
and her family; may they find the strength to overcome this horrible
experience.

Re:
Editor's
note: So, from your earlier posts drilling for more oil (which would
increase supply)
It would increase supply in 5-10 years (just minimally) which has no
affect on the price of oil and gas today or tomorrow. The decrease in
demand is happening right now, or it was, until prices dropped $0.30 a
gallon ($3.89 to $3.59 at BP in Johnston) in the last two weeks. The
point is we need to conserve and drive less, if we can. Wind power and
the transition to natural gas for autos could take place a lot sooner
than drilling for oil in America. Just yesterday, I read where they
have discovered trillions of cubic feet of natural gas in Louisiana. If
the government will pass legislation to encourage wind power for power
line transmission and natural gas power for autos, then this will ween
our nation off of the black gold that we crave so much.
Editor's note: You tout Mr. Pickens' Plan, but even he says it will
take ten years. Are you still going to say that drilling our own oil
(reducing our need for foreign oil by 100% in ten years) is not going
to make a difference?

I
was listening to a radio talk show yesterday and they were asking
people who they were going to vote for in the Presidential election.
Most said Obama, but could not give a reason why other than they wanted
change. None of those interviewed new any of his political views, only
a couple of people for McCain had any idea what his views were on any
thing. That is SCARY! I have always believed that we should come up
with some type of intelligence exam before you are allowed to vote.
Also, you should be a Tax payer, not live in government housing, or
participate in any government handout program. This way you are not
obligated to vote democrat in each election.I vote Republican each
year(GW was not my proudest moment) simply from the fact that I want
less government. We have become a welfare state.I go to work everyday as
my wife does just to give us and our children a comfortable living. But
we have to share 40% of our income with someone else who does not want
to go to work eveyday so their children can have things.Democrats and
liberals want fairness and equality, what's fair about that.Obama and
the Pelosi's are not true Democrats, they are socialist. It does not
work.Just look at history (Russia,China,Cuba). As far as getting us out
of Iraq, not going to happen with whoever gets elected,we made our bed
now we must lay in it i.e.Japan,Germany.Obama knows it,he just counts
on uninformed voters who do not know it.

Re:
Editor's note: Okay, let me see if I got this right.
Your ignorance of the laws of supply/demand never cease to amaze me.
The post mentioned nothing about Obama. Why must you always take any
serious conversation about oil prices on some rant about Obama? If you
read anything besides your own website, you would know that big oil
companies are against finding new supplies of oil. They have no
interest to increase supplies. It is not part of their business models.
What would you suggest, force them to drill for more oil? That's why we
need alternatives to create competition so that the price of oil will
decrease. Pickens is a businessman who wants to provide alternatives to
foreign oil. If we switch to natural gas for vehichles, in the short
term, this will help ease our addiction to foreign oil.
Editor's note: So, from your earlier posts drilling for more oil (which
would increase supply) would do no good in the effort to lower oil
prices but people not buying as much gas (which increases the amount of
supply) does is contradictory. Your House of Rep. Leader Nancy Polosi
wants to release oil from the SOR (strategic oil reserves - also
increasing the available oil supply) to bring down costs. But somehow
you can't wrap your head around increasing the oil supply here at home
would lower oil prices and you want to ignore the fact that Democrats
in Congress will do anything and everything to prevent that from
happening. And if your candidate for president, Barack Obama (who makes
leftist Polosi look like Rush Limbaugh), is not a factor in all of
this, I don't know what is.
I guess by your claims of people using less gas due to high prices
(that are coming down) that if we then increase that supply by drilling
our own oil the prices would remain the same is what?
I guess I do read more than EdgefieldDaily.com for information. Maybe
you should try getting away from leftist media outlets and start
grasping some reality.
There is a special announcement on the headlines today about the new
hire at STH for principal. I think you will find it interesting. Enjoy

I want to read the real news. This town wastes a lot of money on

Another bank robbery has taken place in town if more money was given to

maybe this would not happen. Could this is be why so many of the store

Announcements
that the US might start to drill for more oil have had no affect on the
price of oil. Demand in the US has dropped over the last two months.
This decrease in demand has lowered the price of crude and gas at the
pump. However, if the price drops more, then Americans will start to
drive more and use more gas and then the price will flatten out, and
then begin to rise again. Conservation is the key to price decreases in
oil and gas. If we use less, then demand creeps lower and the prices
will follow. Pickens has a legitimate plan and if the government
follows through with laws and policies to help the wind power indusrty,
then there will be more investors to follow Picken's lead. Refer to the
artcle by Thomas Friedman with the link below:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/opinion/27friedman.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
This is important reading and will give more information to you about
Pickens and his plan.
Editor's note: Okay, let me see if I got this right. The drop in oil
prices, which has been driven by stock market speculatiors, not supply,
is going down because of an abundance of oil because people are buying
less gas in the past week and has nothing to do with the push to "Drill
here, Drill now" campaign. I also wonder why the national (liberal)
media is not reporting that the stock market speculators are
"speculating" that if Barack Obama gets elected his tax and economic
plans would plunge America into a deep recession if not a depression.

has often been said to find true answers, follow the money. This is
true with T. Boone Pickens! A billionaire that invests millions will

appears that just the U.S. talking about more drilling here is driving
the price of crude lower. As the price of oil drops, so does the price

STHS one admin short and not much time to fill that position. It would

that the situation with Obama is almost like a mirror image of the

campaign of Nicolae for "World Leader". Nicolae was the
Anti-Christ. While this series is a work of fiction, it is based
on scripture. This really came home to me again when I read that Obama
is campaigning in Germany. Germany can not vote for our President
so why is Obama campaigning there and also going on a World Tour?
I am a Democrat for the most part but I have always voted for the

Your
words: "Call me dim, but I still cannot find the words"
My Words: You really are dim. It is easy to recognize that you were
definitely educated in Edgefield County. If school boards, town
councils, county councils, etc. force prayer upon attendees then they
are establishing a particular religion upon government (city, state,
etc.). When someone stands up at a school board meeting or city council
meeting and recites a prayer, and expects every attendee to particpate,
then they are forcing religion on everyone in attendance, ergo, they
have established a religion for that particular governmental body. Now
if you are attending a council meeting and you want to pray just bow
your head and pray silently. The deity that you pray to will be able to
hear your words. Nobody is stopping anyone from praying. If school
children want to pray, then teach them to pray silently at there desk.
Prayer does not have to be spoken over a microphone or loud speaker for
it to be heard. Why must you zealots always have to force prayer on
everyone else? Freedom means the right to worship or not to worship. If
someone wants to be an Atheist, then they have as much right as you do,
when you practice Christianity. If you don't like it, then get over it.
Your strict literal take on the Constitution sickens me to the point of
emptying my gastro-intestinal juices. The Constitution is a living
document that must be interpreted to adjust to the changes that take
place in society.
Words from reader: "so the crap that you’re writing is just words on
paper"
My Words: First, there was no paper used. That's the good thing about
cyber writing, I don't kill any trees. Second, it's just information to

Obama. Everything on TV is a made for TV election. American Idol
(somebody needs to read the Bible about "idol worship"), High School
Musical, and all the other so-called "reality TV" voting shows.
It has gotten so bad that the media is even pushing quoting people and
putting them on TV calling Obama the "new Messiah". First off, I find
that not only offensive, but blasphemous. Even Obama speaks as if he is
holy. "... a light will shine through that window, a beam of
light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and
you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for
Obama" - Barack Obama - Lebanon, New Hampshire. January 7, 2008.
Search Google for "Obama the messiah" and there will be almost 2
million links provided. How sad is that?
The Chicago Sun Times
has been running banners on their web site about the "Obama World Tour"
as if he is some kind of rock star. (Oh, wait, to those who think TV is
reality that is what they believe). Don't take my word for it, this one
was online yesterday
(aboard "O Force One") and this one was
placed today. I can't wait for tomorrow's banner telling us how we
can continue to get "up to the minute updates" on "Obama's World Tour".
( I guess with him changing his positions on political topics every
time he speaks we may need "up to the minute updates" to keep up with
his ever changing positions.)
I can see the headline now, "Obama is a real person, he just went to
the bathroom," with the reporter fainting after being overcome by the
greatness of a totally incomeptent fake who ran for President with the
vast political experience in the US Senate of just over 140 days in
office.
Oh, let's not forget this great photo of "Super
Obama". I would link all the photos the press has printed with
Obama and a "halo" or "messianic light" around his head, but it would
take up more space than the entire Wandering Minds for the last four

from the article,
"But there's a flaw in that logic: even if tomorrow we opened up every
square mile of the outer continental shelf to offshore rigs, even if we
drilled the entire state of Alaska and pulled new refineries out of
thin air, the impact on gas prices would be minimal and delayed at
best. A 2004 study by the government's Energy Information
Administration (EIA) found that drilling in ANWR would trim the price
of gas by 3.5 cents a gallon by 2027. (If oil prices continue to
skyrocket, the savings would be greater, but not by much.) Opening up
offshore areas to oil exploration — currently all coastal areas save a
section of the Gulf of Mexico are off-limits, thanks to a congressional
ban enacted in 1982 and supplemented by an executive order from the
first President Bush — might cut the price of gas by 3 to 4 cents a
gallon at most, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council. "
Congress has renewed the ban on offshore drilling EVERY YEAR SINCE
1982. Do I need to tell you the years the Republicans had a
majority and could have overturned this ban?
Here is a piece saying W still had it all

resignation then went to Myrtle Beach-all expenses paid by taxpayers-
for a week to an educator’s conference or when he came back for his
week to clean out his office.
Those of you who thought Thompson was the greatest thing for STHS,
delivering a letter of resignation saying you’re leaving in two weeks,
going on an all expense paid trip to Myrtle beach footed by the
district (us as taxpayers), and leaving the high school and the
district in a major jam are not the actions of a competent

Nobody knows when a principal will be named and with just over two

dedication to Edgefield County. Yes, he may work in Aiken, but
his heart is always here in Edgefield. And as a matter of fact, I
believe he shows that he not only cares deeply about Edgefield County,
he cares about this District as a whole. I believe someone made a
comment about Mr. Massey concerning his choice to work in Aiken being
based on making a lot of money.... Let's be realistic here, we all have
families to support and strive to care for them to the best of our

watches as the board members continue to drag the school district down

Would anyone please name three issues, policies, anything that Mr.
Anderson has done to better our community while serving as the attorney

employment by these entities does not add up to years of productivity.
Heck, Norman Dorn has served on the County Council for over 15 years

I'll keep my quip pretty short compared to your story.
Will deaths rise? Quite possibly. More than likely it will
be one or more of the "Organ donors". and if it is, good
riddance. That is a perfect example of Darwinism. Sound
crass? Maybe, but sometimes the truth hurts.
Does the road need repaving? Yep. Sure does, and repaving a
badly rutted, deteriorating road makes sense, and improves safety if
the people using it follow the rules of the road. I pull a 34'
fifth wheel up and down Woodlawn several times a month, and a boat on
occasion. I stay at or under the posted speed limit. Never
felt out of control, and I stay within the lines with ease.
Don't penalize my safety because some idiots are, well, idiots.
If we want to do that, we need to shut down all roads and only offer
mass transit. Better yet, make everyone rides bicycles or
walk. That will surely decrease deaths.
If we don't want to maintain it, then close it.
Editor's note: I was trying to make the point that the state needs to
provide funding for patrolling their roads. I am not opposed to the

Mr
Editor, thanks for your timely comments on the District 25 Campaigns;
hopefully many will take heed. As a Shane Massey supporter; I
support him because his actions to date focus upon limited
government. Some derided him because he did not support the
smoking tax. If one read his frequent updates, Shane articulated
that as smoking decreases culturally and the committed tax monies dry
up as smoking decreases, then government will be burdened with an
on-going budgetary commitment for health care (where the smoking tax
monies were being spent), then legislators divert money from other
programs to prop up the shortfalls in the health care programs,
that’s how these massive budget deficits begin. Government should
only do, what the individual cannot do for themselves (public works,
roads, defense, etc). Government should not assume individual
responsibilities (health care). Regarding a reader’s earlier
comment that he did not support school prayer legislation. I am a
devoted and practicing Christian, I do not want school prayer.
The moment that begins, the door is open to “multi-religious” prayers
(akin to our current multi-cultural days, which are absurd). I
for one don’t want my child praying to Allah. The moment of
silence suits me just fine. I’m sure Mr Anderson is a decent and
competent candidate, but Shane reflects my limited government, common

voters in the 25th district we need all the facts we can get about the
candidates. The process should not be "smooth". These are times that
demand that the constituents be informed of the candidate's past and
what the candidate will do in the future. If the candidate promises
more jobs, better schools, then we, the constituents, need to know how
the candidate plans on raising the funds to accomplish these tasks.
As far as what Shane Massey has done, here is an excerpt taken from a
publication in SC.
"Newly elected state Senator Shane Massey didn’t wait for the start of
the legislative session to begin shaking things up in Columbia. Massey
pre-filed a bill today in the Senate that would enhance disclosure
rules concerning earmarks."
Mr. Massey is working hard to reduce wasteful spending in government.
He has promised nothing but to work hard for the 25th district and do
whatever he can to help the constituency of his district.
He does not make any promises that require more money be taken out of
our pockets; or that he knows he cannot deliver. Mr. Greg Anderson has
made mistakes in his campaign, but these are the mistakes of a novice.
He has never run for public office. He obviously wanted to raise as
much money as he could, so he did not carefully screen his contibutors.
The facts tell the real story, not the mushy, subjective words written
without evidence to back it up.

congress is considering raising the federal gas tax a additional 15
cents per gallon. The construction lobby is pursuing this increase to
help pay for construction of new roads. I have written both my
Congressmen and Senator about the proposal. I informed them that if
they voted to increase my fuel tax I could no longer vote to keep them
in office. Maybe if enough disgruntled voters let them know where they
stand on issues and refuse to vote for them for reelection will
congress listen. I am done, I am tired of Congress selling their
votes to lobbyist/highest bidder. I lost my full time job
over 3 years ago, and can only find part time work. I have 3 kids all
in college and I am scraping by on less than 1000 dollars a month. I
have no more money to donate to the federal government for taxes. And
no I do not receive any federal aid. I do not qualify for even food
stamps because my kids are full time college students. If they were not
in college or were unemployed then i could receive aid, but because
they are college students I do not qualify. The only way for my opinion
to count is to let Congress know I will not support them if they do not
stand up for me. I urge everyone to contact their representatives to
let them know this is a bad idea.
Editor's note: The tax your speak of is being sought by Democrats in

We
would like our side of the story to be told. It was posted Wednesday
that our dogs are accused of attacking neighbor's dog. We did
notice one of our animals hurt and offered to pay vet bills. The
problem we have is that we do not own any pit bulls. We have three
loving dogs which are a black Lab, a German Shepard mix, and a American
Bulldog. All of these dogs are known and loved by many of our other
neighbors. The dogs have also not been out of our backyard in months,
due to an elect. fence, that was previously installed.
This story was brought to us by a neighbor, and if the
embarrassment of them bringing it was not enough, as we began to read
it we felt victimized. We thought our animal was responsible, however,
if there are two pit bulls loose in the neighborhood attacking animals,
we may not be. We are saddened by the article published Wednesday
and would like our feeling's expressed.

AGAINST having the Lord's Prayer in public schools. Greg Anderson has
long advocated that we should have prayer in our schools. Everytime
Greg gives a speech to a group he always says that while he is a
lawyer, he is guided by the principal that God's law was made before
man's law. At the meetings that he attends such as school board and
town council, the meetings are opened with a prayer although it is
probably illegal. When Greg was asked by a reporter from the Augusta
Chronicle why he let these entities do this, Greg responded by saying
that "God is worth fighting for." Greg is not afraid to speak up for
religion although it may be politically incorrect. Shane apparently
does not think it is important. I would not bring this up but somebody

Well,
I made a statement in Wandering Minds a month or so ago in regards to
prices at the pump NOT fairly tracking prices of a barrel of crude oil,
and once again it happens. No one (small or large) is willing to
make this a headline issue. WHY? The price at the pump is
quick to track barrel prices on the way UP, but slow to track prices on
the way DOWN.
Gas prices have been hovering at $4.00/gallon for close to a month now,
while a barrel of crude oil has been between $140 and 150. This
week, the barrel price dropped approximately TEN PERCENT. It is
now below $130. I filled up yesterday at (my local store) and,
surprise! The price was the same as it has been for weeks.
Three eighty-five. I didn't see a ten percent drop, or even a one
percent drop.
When a barrel goes up five bucks, you can bet your sweet Vidalia onion
that we are going to pay more at the pump, probably that same
afternoon. When it drops, weeellllll, just give it a week or
two. "They" are going to see how long the drops stays a drop,
then will start to slowly, ever so slowly, start to ease back on the
price.
Unbelievable.

btw, I didn't realize that I couldn't call him corrupt. It was
removed, along with another sentence from my last wandering minds
post. Sorry. I try to follow the rules.
Would it help it citizens called the Solicitors office or SLED about
him? I have thought about doing so for a few days now but didn't
want to make matters worse for you. I get the feeling that he is being
protected by other officials.
I understand that it would be unethical for you to request help from
your readers but if one offered to complain (or post about others
complaining) that would be a totally different story.
You have a lot of support from your readers and many, many folks want
to see this man reap the consequences of his actions.
Also, would it be inappropriate for me to run for the School Board in
the Bettis Academy district with a child in private school? I
wish I'd put my name in the hat for the council seat but was hesitant
to get involved. But a little voice keeps telling me that I'm
going to have to step up in this district because no one else seems to
want to.
Editor's note: Thank you for your kind comments. Kenneth Collier has
already filed to run against Sallie Cooks and the best way to unseat
her is a head to head race. I would never tell someone not to run for
office, but muliple candidates is what got Cooks re-elected when a
majority of voters voted against her in the Nov. general election but
failed to return to the polls for the run-off.
The reason I removed the comment about Mr. Dorn being "corrupt" in the
context you sent in, implied a criminal offence. You can call elected
"leaders" any name in the book, but do not accuse them of criminal
offences unless you can prove it in a court of law.

"I think it’s ridiculous that we’re going to be spending time on this."
While illegals rush across our borders and flock to SC.

William Smoak Fairey was tried in absentia and without counsel for the

This guy was a well known con man who swindled money from hard working
South Carolinians and a known acquaintance of Mr. Hutto
B) Richard Harpootlian ($1,000 Contributor: Liberal left wing radical

1) Served as the attorney for Susan Smith, the lady from Union,
SC that drowned her two young children.
2)Served as the attorney for Dewain Herring; Herring was a dope

pointing a firearm at a police officer. Herring and Harpootlian were
know to be close associates
3) After a trial against the state of SC, which Harpootlian received a
favorable verdict, Harpootlian told reporters " I deserve $23 million"
the state determined he should be awarded $19,197; however, Harpootlian
received $1 million plus and it was all paid by taxpayers in SC

See Ronnie moved into a home in 1981 that had perfectly operating solar
panels running the hot water heater. So what would any
intelligent person do......remove them! Why have the sun provide
energy for you when you can burn a perfectly good carbon based fuel and
get energy.
That Reagan was the best president we ever had. Took away that
evil solar power and made sure no one had any tax breaks for putting
solar energy to work. Thank God he killed the solar
industry. Imagine if this man's vision had not come to
fruition! There may be millions of homes in this country

I for one am glad that Ronald Reagan killed the solar movement when he

Just
wanted to comment about the Mt. Canaan B. C. & the Rev. George L.
Brightharp situation.
"The man is sick and needs help". It is a shame and a disgrace to
the Black Community and to the Black Forefathers that sacrificed so
much to up lift the black race in this comminity for this man and his
hand picked few flunkies to make such a mockery out of church
business. It is also a disgrace and dis-service to the county and
to the state at-large.
George L. Brightharp has a serious inferirity complex and an ego
problem along with a demonic mean streak. Those that know him
knows that it runs in his family. His father was the same way and
he is doing the same thing that his father did. The only
difference is the leaders of the black community in those days did not
tolorate his father's foolishness and they put him in his place.
It is my opinion that this is why he is acting the way he is today
because he in his mind and heart think that the community did his
father wrong. (PoorThing, he needs prayer). Too bad this
generation does not have the back bone or the fortitude to send this
man packing. Though a few of the church members are trying to get
rid of him, however over the years Brightharp has strategiclly put
members on the Deacon Board & Trustee Boards that don't know any
better or they are beholding to him. He would rather see the
church torn apart, families split and hell frozen over before he
conceeds to rightousness and justice if he thinks it does not cast him
in a positive light. Thus his ego problem & inferiority
complex.
I plead to the Mt. Cannan Association to step in and help the members
of Mt. Canaan get rid of this pastor. It will ultimately come
back to hurt the association and it is the right thing to do before
someone gets hurt. Step up pastors, you know what is going on at
Cannan is not right. "As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool

accept maybe for Parlamentarian procedures.
Mr. Massey has gained invaluable experience over the last year that he
has served the fine people of the 25th district. Mr. Anderson has no
experience as a state senator. We don't need a Senator-in-Training
representing the fine people of the 25th district. Mr. Anderson's

choose who should go to hell, how sorry his congregation is to
let something like this happen to the pastor, how the church is going
to pay for his lawyers fees. He brought this on himself. All he
had to do was leave with dignity. He said he would not split the church
and leave when asked. He chose not to do that. There are so many people
who have made him a demi-God and have put him before God himself.
The same people who profess to be Christians and represent for the
church Pastor's Aide Club, are the same people you find cussing and
ranting and raving on the church grounds. If that's who he wants
by his side, then the "Club" name fits accordingly.
He is only man. He has served his purpose and now it is time to move on.
For those of us who have small children to raise, is this the kind of
behavior that we want to display for them? He preaches about our youth
and how important it is for them to know how to act in church. He calls
them out for chewing gum, walking down the wrong aisle or falling
asleep during his sermons. What about when the deacon's wife was
cussing?
Is that acceptable behavior for our youth? What kind of example are we
setting if we can't even go to church for fear of what our children may
see and hear?
"More strength is found in the ability to be flexible than in
stubborn determination. Lord, when life makes extra demands on me,
guide me and help me to adapt easily to the necessary changes for the
best results."
"Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father in Heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

have spoken to Mr. Anderson who stated he did not want his supporters

identity of a poster, I can say that the comment did not come from a
member of Sen. Massey's team. People are free to say what they will and
it is wrong to place an individual's comments upon a candidate,
regardless of who it is. Just food for thought. I have nothing but the
greatrest respect for both Sen. Shane Massey and Greg Anderson. This is
one race that no matter who is elected, the voting pubic wins.
I hope voters will stick to the issues, but you are free to state your
views unedited.
In other news, be assured that County Councilman Norman Dorn's problems
will continue to expand. Even though I expect Solicitor Donnie Myers'
Office to refuse to persue crimnal charges against Dorn in his most

not be able to ignore what is

Aiken and represent big insurance companies and make the big money. Was
Edgefield or Johnston not good enough for him? Greg had opportunities

evidence from a murder back to Edgefield County from two weeks ago, I
wonder how slow they will be in this particular case. It seems to me
that if the Edgefield Police Department has enough evidence for a
warrant, it should be granted. It is a shame that our local judicial
system seems to be bogged down in CYA and political correctness. The
good news, things may change sooner than later. Stay tuned, you will

the Fourth of July, I drove up Curtis Creek Road in Pisgah National
Forest near Old Fort, NC. The entire area was infested with illegal
immigrants, undocumented aliens, guest workers or whatever you want to
call them, They were taking up more than half of the available roadside
sites. I observed them washing clothes and bathing in the creek and
wondered about the amount of human waste being deposited on the land.
I also found myself thinking that this was no longer a safe place to
camp, given the large number of criminals that come from this
demographic and wondered if the Immigration and Naturalization Service
was aware of the annexation of this part of our public lands by
elements of the "Reconquista."
I lamented the fact that on this Independence Day there was so much
evidence that we are selling, ceding, and idly watching our as our
lands, our heritage, our liberties and our future are vanishing before
our eyes as we slide closer to becoming like the corrupt third world
countries whose people we do nothing from colonizing us.
Worse, we are about to elect as our next president someone who will
only accelerate the decline, regardless of who wins.
Soon, the American people will have to act because the politicians
won't. Either that or learn Spanish and get used to poverty and squalor.

only he can call meetings at the church. The man of the

Dear Editor:

Edgefield Daily during this past week, I am pleased to inform you and
your readers that the Edgefield County Players, which was duly
chartered as a South Carolina charitable organization, currently has a
bank balance of $1,485.92. Under the By-Laws of our organization
and the South Carolina laws governing charitable organizations, the
funds contributed to this organization through membership dues or
charitable contributions must be used for the purposes intended or, in
the event of dissolution of the organization, the funds must be
given to another qualified non-profit organization with similar
objectives. Therefore, no contributions can be returned to donors.
It is my hope, and the hope of many of our members, that at some point
in the not-distant future, the Edgefield County Players will be able to
work with other organizations in the County to realize our

such a facility would contribute to the quality of life in Edgefield

couple suggestions as to how the ECW&SA can cut expenses rather
than raise rates. One, I know everyone has driven by a work site
where the water and sewer authority are "working" and seen maybe two
men working and the other three to five men "overseeing". Cut out
all but one overseer and save thousands of dollars each year!!!
Second, park the county vehicles on the yard each night. They
should not be used for personal use. Anyone dropping off a child
at Parker, has seen a Water and Sewer Authority employee dropping off a
child there in the mornings. What would it cost the county if
this child were injured in a wreck!!! Also last Sunday an
ECW&SA pickup was parked right in front of CVS. I wonder if
they had a water or sewer problem about noon?? I doubt it.
If the board overseeing the water authority would put their foot down
and hold the line on expenses, there would be no need for any increase
in prices for water or sewage for years to come. Run it like a
business, it is one!!!

think that yes, an apology is owed to garbage men and hard laborers as

listening to him, you know he is not qualified for the position.
Our
education system is experiencing problems now because of people
-uneducated- like him. Seems they should be a way to get those
type people out of office. If he were working for a large company
and did not perform satisfactorily, you bet he would be fired - and
fast!
Thanks for the great job you do in keeping us informed about what is
going on. We read "edgefielddaily" every day.
Editor's note: Thank you for reading and your kind comments.

Norman
Dorn is nothing more than a bully. He's an embarrassment to
himself, his family and this community. I'm a law-abiding citizen
that reads EdgefieldDaily.com everyday. I don't appreciate being
called a crook because I want to read about my local news from a source
that does not distort or edit the facts.
How would Norman Dorn know what is being said at EdgefieldDaily.com if
he wasn't reading it himself? So, I guess in his own ignorant
way, he's calling himself a crook too. (removed) As far as
I'm concerned, if Norman Dorn is breathing he is (not a nice word).
Maybe you should sue him. What a shame he has the county
attorney, administrator and chairman by the short hairs. It would be
nice if one of these men grew a backbone.
I am ready for a change in the leadership in Edgefield County and
cannot wait for these idiots to be private citizens again.
Edgefield Daily will be around long after Norman Dorn is history.
Editor's note: I do not appreciate being called a
liar, a crook, and other names by a county councilman during a
county council meeting while acting in his official capacity as an
elected official with a large audience of people. Mr. Dorn called
me by name, pointed out to the people in the room where I was sitting,
asked them to look at me, while he, in my opinion, slandered me. That
was not very smart.
County Council Chairman Monroe Kneece has already been contacted
regarding Mr. Dorn's actions at the meeting.

To
the poster defending the “garbage man” You obviously do not know this
man. Calling him a common laborer actually offends ME. I work hard for
my money whereas he works hard for nothing. Well, let me take that
back… he works hard to continue brown nosing Fox Creek’s Athletic
Director. That must be awful tiring but still does not make him a
laborer. What money he does earn from driving the trash truck isn’t
enough to support his family. It’s Mrs. Bishop’s family that supplies
the money. And those people are a whole different kind of crooked.

Mr.
Editor, don’t take anything personally that Dorn says about you. As one
of his former students I can tell you, he called all of us names in the
class room. We were referred to a bunch of dumba* *es and hoodlums on
several occations. Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black?

Mr. Dorn said that
he had been referred to as
"dumb, stupid, ignorant, can't read, can't write" now we need to add to
that list 'can't speak intelligible English'. No wonder my child
didn't learn anything in his class; he couldn't understand the language
that Mr. Dorn was speaking.
Editor's note: Now you see why I just play recordings of him, not try
to quote him.

(County
Councilman) Joe Norman (Dorn) said in his recorded
rant that people of the county were being like "Bullies on the
playground" calling others stupid, crooks, etc. Well I know for a
fact that one of the biggest bullies I ever encountered on a
playgraound and in the classroom was Norman Dorn himself. The sad
fact of the matter was that he was a teacher at the time. He has
gotten away with abusing his positions of authority for waaaaaay too
long. Whether it has been as a teacher or as a councilman or as
who knows how and where else The man was being the biggest
hypocrit ever in saying what he did at the meeting the other night.

Editor's post:
Well, here we go again. Norman Dorn
wanted to show his (rear end) again, this time by slandering (from the
county council bench) the Editor of EdgefieldDaily.com and even calling
our readers "crooks". Granted, I do not want to pay too much to show
how this sorry excuse for a county councilman is by providing bandwidth
for his inarticulate rantings, but since I cannot quote him due to his
inability to speak plain English, this is the only
way to let him have his say. (Audio recording - 380k media file)
Remember, this man is a retired "educator" in Edgefield County.
Yes, I believe Norman Dorn is a foolish, inarticulate, sorry excuse for
a county councilman. That is my God given right. According to the
recent primary vote count, an overwhelming majority of voters agreed
and voted against him even though he barely won the Democrat primary. I
guess those who voted against him are "crooks" too. Black and white.
What
a complete embarrassment Dorn is to District 1 and the county as a
whole. I wonder if his son will start calling me again making vulgar
and violent threats? His previous calls were so entertaining.
Maybe I will place them online just for kicks. Then again, if I deleted
the curse words and vulgar language it would be a very short call and
would not make any sense.
Kind of like Norman Dorn - short, and makes no sense.

Americans
better wake up and see what is
going on around them and to them. The Supreme Court's recent gun ruling
is an affront to all law-abiding, gun owning citizens. The arrogance
that they displayed
when they barely upheld the constitution was mind-boggling. The second
amendment was intended to act as a defense against government run amok.
We are seeing a lot of this in the news today. This ruling is an
example. Everyone should buy a box of shells each paycheck. When the
government shuts down ammunition factories, our guns will be as much
good as a baseball bat. Stock up before its too late.
w
Three
students from Strom Thurmond High School went to Atlanta this past week
for the FBLA Nationals. These students and the teachers who went
with them represented our school proudly. Caquisha Burton and
Adam Talbert both competed in events. Caquisha then won 6th place
out of the nation in Job Interview.
Congradulations to these students on making it to the Nationals.
w
Another
useless suggestion by the Council. I'd vote for term
limits. I surely do not want them to feel as if they are safe for
four years. Their actions are bad enough with two year
terms. Oh well same old same old. I guess the lame ducks
are trying to save the remaining members. For free entertainment,
attend the council meetings. You will not be disappointed with
this group.
w
I
hope not having the firework show is not a sign of where this local non
profit facility is headed, not doing for or supporting edgefield
county. There are a lot of local people employed there and they have
done alot for the community in the past . I understand it is dry but i
think the last few years have been very dry also .
w
The
current county council members do not deserve to serve two years, much
less four! I am in favor of keeping two year terms as well as
setting term limits. Too bad term limits couldn't be made retroactive!!!
w
have
a few comments to make:
1. I love Here's Your Card. It reminds us that some people are still
idiots.
2. I cannot believe our school district paid 8000.00 to create a
curriculum pacing guide. You know, I am a teacher and I never heard of
it at all. The upper echelon must have only asked certain teachers.
3. I am sitting on pins and needles waiting to see who the ECBOE is
going to choose as our new principal.
4. Some Edgefield residents do need to use more than spell check when
they post for Wandering Minds. It makes our county look ignorant and
backwards when we are posting responses that are misspelled and
incorrectly punctuated. I don't blame you for not correcting spelling.
It is the
responsiblity of the poster.5. I am enjoying my summer. I dread having
to go back to school. On the other hand, I love my job and cannot wait
to meet my new students.
By the way, thanks for keeping me up on everything going on in the
county. I love Edgefield Daily.
Editor's note: Thank you for your kind comments.

In
regards to the dinner theater scam- I think we need to post a warning
to newcomers about the 2 biggest fakes involved.
w
I
do not personally know the Kitchens family or the Bishops, but your
response about being beaten by a garbage man is unnecessary. Being a
garbage man may not be the one you or many others would want, but it is
one that performs a valuable service and it is honest work. Better to
be a garbage man than one who is too lazy to work and depends on the
taxpayers for support. I think you owe common laborers an apology.
Editor's note: Maybe you should know that a particular "garbage man"
was able to get the tipping fees for his company removed so he could
make more money. So much for "honest work". I owe no one an apology.
w
Tell
me your views. The Edgefield County
Council is proposing a referendum to
place
the county council seats on 4-year terms. Would you support that or
term limits for county council members. Would you really want 4 more
years of Norman Dorn or just two if he is re-elected?

Great
job Nick Waites and Scott
Mims. The District 3 All-Stars Baseball Tournament was a great
success. You put in a lot of hours to make sure everything
ran smoothly. The condition of the fields was top
notch. Thanks to the employees of the town of Edgefield for all
the extra work that went into making sure that our Baseball Complex was
clean every minute our out of town guests were here. Edgefield
citizens should be proud.
Editor's note: I heard it was a very well organized event and two local
teams are advancing. A full report will be coming Wednesday.

Overheard
Hazel Kitchens, wife of lame duck councilman Everette Kitchens stating
that it all worked out that Mr. Kitchens didn't win because he didn't
want to run anyway. I think that's the same thing she said when
the likes of Danny Bishop beat her. The "Kitchen" has been washed
up and washed out!
Editor's note: Ow, how bad it must have been to be put out of office by
a garbage man. I hear their house is now up for sale, but I dio not

It
is my understanding that this will be treated as an anonymous inquiry.
Sometime back, there were people in Edgefield raising money to fund a
theater or dinner theater in Edgefield. We were told that, if it
didn't go through, our money would be refunded. We didn't get the
theater and we haven't had our money refunded.
Do you or anyone else know where the money is and if we are going to be
refunded?
Editor's note: I would suggest you inform me as to who told you that in
order to get your money and let me take it from there. It is easy to
follow money.

FCHS
isn't "draining " resources from the District's coffer as much as the
ECSB. One example is the increase in the starting wages to new
high-level administrators. One example of this would be the increased
salary of the new Title One administrator, just the increase in salary
this one employee recieved would almost pay the salary of the teacher
not being replaced at MES. I realize some people woud like to blame all
the District's finacial problems on FCHS, but the truth is they only
recieve the monies that are allowed for their students.

recently drove through Edgefield just last week, and was disturb by the
Blue Collar gentlemen standing on the sidewalk across from the
newspaper building, and across from the library, directly on the
sidewalk where pedstrians cross over to reach the opposite side,
drinking Budlights in bottles. I could have reached out of my car
window and touch one of them, they were so close to the road. This is
an outrage!!! Why does this type of partying is aloud in town? Use

These
people that write in to say that 'your stupid', 'your an idiot', and
'your wrong' are showing their own ignorance by using improper
grammar. The word your is a possessive pronoun that refers to
something that a person has or something that belongs to the person in
the discussion. The correct word should be 'you're' which is the
contraction for 'you are'. If you want to write about somebody
being stupid or an idiot, you would certainly sound more credible if
you used the proper words.
About the 2nd amendment; it was written over 200 years ago. At
that time, the country's first army was just being formed and the
defense of the country still rested mainly with the militia which was a
volunteer army. The militia was comprised of regular people who
took up their arms to fight for what they felt was theirs.
Remember, it was the militia men who fought against the British during
the Revolutionary War since the colonies had no official army of their
own. I sure am glad that those men owned guns.
