Why are Davis Parkman's Republican
signs still up around the county? I thought he had to change them. This
is not a very good example of doing what is ethical.
Editor's note: According to the Edgefield County Republican Party,
Parkman cannot advertise he is running as a "Republican" if he is in
fact running as a petition candidate. in addition, sources state that
signature collection for Parkman's run has hit a snag and he may not
reach the number required before noon on July 16. That will not be
known until it is time to turn in the petitions. web

posted June 30, 2012 Boliver, TN - Two local men were
injured when their pickup truck left the road and struck a tree near
Highway 18 early Monday. Hardeman County Deputy Kennemore reported the
accident shortly after midnight last Monday.
...
Thurston Poole, 33, of Bolivar, and Billy Ray Wallis, 38, of Toone,
both BHS graduates, were returning to Bolivar after a frog-catching
trip. On an overcast Sunday night, Poole 's pickup truck headlights
malfunctioned. The two men concluded that the headlight fuse on the
older-model truck had burned out. As a replacement fuse was not
available, Wallis noticed that the 22 caliber bullets from his pistol
fitted perfectly into the fuse box next to the steering-wheel column.
Upon inserting the bullet the headlights again began to operate
properly, and the two men proceeded on eastbound toward Bolivar.
After traveling approximately 20 miles, the bullet apparently
overheated, discharged and struck Poole in the testicles. The vehicle
swerved sharply right, exited the pavement, and struck a tree. Poole
suffered only minor cuts and abrasions from the accident but will
require extensive surgery to repair the damage to his testicles. Wallis
sustained a broken clavicle and was treated and released.
"Thank God we weren't on a bridge when Thurston shot his [testicles]
off, or we might be dead," stated Wallis.
"I've been a deputy for 10 years in this part of the state, but this is
a first for me. I can't believe that those two would admit how this
accident happened," said Deputy Kennemore.
Upon being notified of the wreck, Lavinia (Poole 's wife) asked how
many frogs the guys had caught and did anyone get them out of the
truck?"

confirm or refute the report. It is linked from several other sites,

Typical spin. Deflection. All the above doesn't change the
fact that once again you post right wing talking points as if they are
true, without comment or question. When called on it, all you can
do is try to spin it. The fact is this right wing talking point
is false.....like most are when you peel back the layers.
The 3.8% is a medicare tax. Medicare pays for healthcare.
Dots connected.
Editor's note: So, those who don't use Medicare are the ones who should
pay for Medicare when they sell a house? I'm sure anyone selling a
house over $250,000 won't need Medicare or even be able to apply.
Again, no spin, what does selling a house have to do with ObamaCare,
which will most likely be struck down today by SCOTUS as
unconstitutional.
It seems you are the one using the Obama and liberal "talking points"
to justify an illegal law. What's next, a tax on buying a car to fund
ObamaCare? With the new law outlawing incandescent light bulbs in favor
of CFL bulbs, will a special tax be placed on them to treat people for
lead poisoning created by the ban?

The question you ask was answered in the link I posted on snopes.
Below is a recap.
Inherited house. Owned by a married couple. Tax free on
sale up to $499,999. How many houses in Edgefield county sold in
the last 3 years for over $500,000?
Inherited house. Owned by single person. Tax free on sale

did a good job with the students she had seen. When the time came to
hire teachers she was not one that was picked. It is curious that he
raved about how she really worked with students and then she was not
one to get picked.. Marchant gave a stupid excuse of why she was not
hired. His excuse to her was that her classroom management was not up
to par. How would he know what her classroom management style was like
if he never came in when she was teaching students. We all know the
reason for her not being hired. The good ole boy system.
The superintendent at the time had asked why she was not hired and he
said that she did not fit in the school very well. If she did not fit
in the school, why was it that teachers were upset that he let her go.
The two teachers he did hire, Marchant and [removed] knew personally.
The [removed] teacher [removed] was not even certified in her position
as a [removed] teacher and the teacher he let go had a good track
record and was teaching Math RTI and was certified to teach elementary
education. [removed] went to a lot of math conferences to better her
understanding of teaching Math RTI. She really took her job seriously.
She thought about each student as an individual and never let other
teachers persuade her opinion in some students who gave her a hard
time. [she] was very dedicated to her students. Even the students she
did not teach. She was willing to help all students who sought her out.
She always had a smile on her face. She was always willing to help out.
This teacher also had brought curriculum in to help students and the
entire school is now using the curriculum. If you look at the scores of
these students she has helped, majority of their scores went up. I just
don't get how the good ole boy system helps students. She worked
extremely hard for these students and she also was very caring to them.
To know that Marchant played the game that he always does is sad. I am
glad that he is no longer in charge of a school. What comes around goes
around. Mr. Marchant's arrogant ways has costed him dearly. It does not
pay to be arrogant. web posted June 26, 2012 RE: HOME SALES TAX
This isn't true. There is no $15200 sales tax on a $400,000 home
sale. There is no $3800 sales tax on a $100,000 home. Most
residents of Edgefield Co. don't make enough money to trigger what
could be a tax on PROFITS from the sale of a home over a certain
threshold. But there is no sales tax on the sale of homes that
will hit every home sale at 3.8%.

know what agency in SC regulates private ambulance companies. I'll tell
you why. This Jan. I rushes my wife to Aiken Emergency because she
could not breath. We found out that her lungs had numerous blood clots.
She spent 6 weeks there and then I was told she needed to go to a rehab
facility. I chose the one in Edgefield,(people warned me not to, and I
should have listened.) While there she had to go to her doctors in
Aiken and they called a certain ambulance company that they only deal
with. She made three visits and I was charged $ 711.00 per trip!!! for
a total of $ 4266.00 They counted it as 6 trips, 3 going and 3
coming. Neither Medicare nor my insurance covers trips to doctors
offices only to hospitals. Has any one else had this experience? I
believe that this facility must get a kick back.
Editor's note: DHEC oversees ambulance and EMS agencies across the

[name removed] web posted June 25, 2012 Anyone catch Nancy Pelosi's explanation of
why Eric Holder is in trouble with Congress? It is not because of him
lying, withholding information, supporting an awful program that led to
the murder of a border agent and others etc. No, she says it is because
the Republicans want to get rid of him because Holder wants to protect
people's right to vote. Oh, yes, that is right. He doesn't think you
should need an ID to vote. Hmmm Who votes that doesn't have
some kind of ID? Oh yes, the dead people. The Democrats would be
limited by a voter ID law because they couldn't cheat as easily. They
will still cheat but they will have to figure out other ways.
Don't forget that Holder protected the Black Panthers' attempts to keep
people from voting in the 2008 election. I don't think the Black
Panthers were worried about dead people voting or black people voting.
Whose right to vote was being limited there? Yet Holder did nothing
about that. He is definitely not thinking of the American people as a
whole.
So let's not ruffle Holder's feathers or do anything to limit his

what he is told to do. The President is covering for him and for

I thought you might find this interesting, -- maybe even SICKENING! The
National Association of Realtors is all over this and working to
get it repealed, -- before it takes effect. But, I am very
pleased we aren't the only ones who know about this ploy to steal
billions from unsuspecting homeowners. How many realtors do you
think will vote Democratic in 2012?
Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay
a 3.8% sales tax on it? That's $3,800 on a $100,000
home, etc. When did this happen? It's in the health care
bill, -- and it goes into effect in 2013. Why 2013? Could
it be so that it doesn't come to light until after the 2012
elections? So, this is "change you can believe in"?
Under the new health care bill all real estate transactions will
be subject to a 3.8% sales tax.
If you sell a $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This
bill is set to screw the retiring generation, -- who often downsize
their homes. Does this make your November, 2012 vote more important?
Oh, you weren't aware that this was in the ObamaCare
bill? Guess what; you aren't alone! There are more than a

do you think there are any attempts to make Romney look less attractive
to Hispanic voters? Hmmmm-do you think the libs are afraid of someone
like Rubio being picked? Has ABC retracted their lie? Nope-just
justified it and really made their lying look even worse.
Also, this whole cover up on the Fast and Furious is disgusting. Jay
Carney did not even know the name of the border agent that was murdered
by one of these guns. One of our own citizens, murdered by the
incompetence and intentional misuse of power by this administration.
They hoped these guns would be tracked back to the US-what better way
to try to get a ban on assault weapons and maybe all guns. They are so
devious and now they are covering their tracks. Delightful people,
aren't they?
So many lies in Obama's own autobiography! We all need to read the book
, sanctioned by Obama, that shows how many lies he told. Now the
author, David Maraniss, is upset because it seems this book is actually
vetting Obama. It is comical-how dumb do they think the American people

the courts, the laws of the land and the will of American people with
his administrative order granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.
Estimates on the number of illegal immigrants in the US vary widely
from 10 to 20 million. The Pew Research center estimates there
are 11.9 million of them, and that of that number approximately 50% are
under the age of 30.
Split the difference and say there are 16 million of them. Obama
just granted amnesty to 8 million criminals.
Many liberals will applaud the move as humanitarian, but they’re
secretly counting the votes of these “new Americans” that will
doubtlessly be cast early and often, Chicago style. If theirs is
the margin in just Florida, New Mexico or Colorado, it will go a long
way toward an Obama victory. So clearly this move is calculated
to improve Obama’s election prospects – but it goes deeper than that.
Connect the dots with the “Fast and Furious” debacle. How many
criminals were issued weapons by Obama so they can waltz across the
border in time for the election to enforce voting by Hispanics for
Obama in the barrios at the point of a gun? (Sure there are many
illegal alien gansta’s already in possession of illegal weapons, but
Obama has just upgraded their arsenals.) Just like Obama used the
New Black Panthers to intimidate voters in ’08, he’ll have the
Furiolito brigade in ’12.
No wonder Attorney General Holder is holding back on Congress’s demands
for information concerning F&F and “sticking to his guns” to
provide no more. Deeper digging would very probably prove a
master plan to arm the very illegals Obama now grants amnesty to.
This is a page out of the Marxist playbook of people like Venezuelan
dictator and Obama pal, Hugo Chavez.
Americans: Can’t find a job? You now have millions of more
competitors, compliments of Obama. Be prepared to pony up more in
tax money to provide the entitlements that come with their new “legal”
status conferred by Obama.
States, counties and localities: Having trouble balancing your
budgets? You now have 8 million more dependents to take care of
on the backs of your taxpayers.
Businessmen: don’t discriminate against these new countrymen or you
will be in trouble. Get ready to hire them and take good care of
them, and to hell with your bottom line.
Enough is enough. Republicans now have the ammo to impeach
Obama. Unfortunately they don’t have the guts to use it.
Probably the best we can hope for is for the House to seek an immediate
court order staying Obama’s illegal order before the election. If
the decision is in effect by the election we have officially lost our
country.
If this order stands and he wins re-election don’t be surprised if
Obama’s next executive order declares himself “president for life”. web posted June 22, 2012 Return to the Back of the Bus

from what I saw in HSSR report following this season. I know Mr.

here is a opportunity for the local schools to promote their better
athletes a chance for exposure for their hard work and success. While
Mr. Brown does a great job telling the truth, where is the
administration as A.D. coach and booster members? This is
just one reason STHS, Fox Creek programs are on the dumper.

today, how do you have so many girls leading the stats in softball yet

support their girls who deserve to be honored for their hard work and
success in the game. I guess the answer is the lack of support from a
coach and A.D. Case in point, Fox Creek with so many girls whose
batting averages being so high, along with hits, HRs, stole bases,
etc. Who did they play and what was their record. What in
the world is going on? Is the coaching that good or that
bad. With all of these great players then what is the
problem. Then there is Wardlaw Academy with Rearden who gets no
exposure or support from the school. Parents must not be on Board or
Booster Club. Somebody needs to address this for people to
understand. No excuses or same old bla bla bla. Parents who
send their kids to other schools for playing time, think about it real
hard. Go to play up not down. Or just play rec. ball. That way they can
all get a trophy just for showing up.

Editor's note: The comment you refer to was placed on June 9 (below)

Parkman's record, which I correctly stated would be an issue in the

reported sooner because it was obvious that he would be removed from
the ballot before the primary was held (of which he would not appear

As they went along they passed some people who remarked "What a shame

maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.
Later they passed some people who remarked "What a shame.... he makes
that little boy walk." So they then decided they'd both walk!
Soon they passed some more people who remarked "They're really stupid
to walk when they have a decent donkey to ride." So, they both rode the
donkey.
Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying "How awful to put
such a load on a poor donkey."
The boy and man figured they were probably right, so they decide

followed the discussion about water
in the western part of the county for several years and I have attended
every meeting that has been held to discuss the issue. I admit that I
am not an expert on infrastructure or an engineer of any sort, but I do
not see why everyone is looking to Edgefield County, the Water
Authority, or McCormick County to supply the water needs in the areas.
The areas have bountiful natural water sources from spring fed creeks
and Stevens Creek and from existing maps of water tables there are
large aquifers in the area as well. Why doesn't the county look to
private equity firms to invest in providing water. Start ups such as
these seem to do very well.
On the other hand, if private business is uninterested that should be a
firm indicator that any plan to provide county water is not feasible. web posted June 7, 2012 If there is no county recreation at the

Thank you Mrs. Blackwell for standing up for the taxpayers and stopping
them from wasting our money!! I take it the rest of the [county]
council is on the same page since there didn't seem to be a vote
mentioned in the article but it seemed obvious that [Chairman]
Campbell, [Vice-chair] Blackwell and [Councilman] Ashcraft aren't
afraid to stand up to [Councilman] Dorn. Was Mr.[Councilman] Bright at
the meeting?
Editor's note: Councilman Bright was at the meeting and offered very
little in the way of input until PARD funds were discussed, and then
only to state that a park had to be active for a year to be eligible
for funding. Councilman Bright did not give Councilman Dorn's motion
for the 1.5 millage rate for the Northside "water project" a second
allowing it to die without a vote. Bright is not running again and his
seat will be taken by Tracey Freeman who is unopposed in the November
elections. web posted June 7, 2012 Are there no standards that a county
councilman or councilwoman needs to meet in order to remain in good
standing on the council? With Councilman Dorn's behavior,
misinformation, confrontational approach to dealing with items, his
verbal exchanges with citizens, his lack of respect for his position
and his fellow council members and his lack of respect for the chairman
are just a few reasons to think about suspending him or doing
something to curtail this abuse of power. I am shocked that this
continues to go on and that there is no recourse or discipline for this
type of behavior.
It is fine to point out all of his crazy behavior but to me there
should be a certain decorum for the meetings. If a member of the
council does not perform within certain guidelines they should be
excused or disciplined in some way. If the person cannot be
permanently removed from office, maybe they could be dismissed for that
particular meeting. Consequently he would miss most of the meetings and
he would not be wasting everyone's time. Why is he allowed to continue
to act in this manner? If this man wins again, then shame on his
district. Are the voters really blinded by such an ignorant man? It is
absolutely amazing to me that he continues to be elected. Absolutely
amazing and very scary.
Editor's note: Chairman Dean Campbell can end Dorn's rants anytime he
wants to do so. I do not understand why he lets him start on topic and
then ramble on off topic for so long. He does try to contain Dorn, but
a warning should be followed by a threat of removal from the meeting.
If he ignores that, there is a Sheriff's Deputy present that will
escort Dorn from the chambers. web posted June 7, 2012 What Mr. Dorn did at the [county council]

tax payer money for yet another "park" owned by a Church and not the
County? Is it true that Edgefield County doesn't own the
Bettis Academy facility? What type of lease do they have on Bettis
Academy? Sure seems like a lot of money to invest into a complex where
the lease can expire in the near future if that's the case. In my
opinion, we could have taken all the money that's been invested in
Bettis (baseball fields) and put it into our facility here in
Edgefield. We could have developed a super complex that would
draw children from all across the county to play. Appears we need
to do a better job of "thinking" these things out.
Editor's note: The county does not own Bettis Park, it is leased. Which
is why grant money is not available and has to be funded locally. web posted June 7, 2012Mr. Dorn needs to be given a metal

By working on the dock you know how long it takes to load a truck, and
what kind of loads you can mix together, and how to do it
smarter/quicker/cheaper. You can't learn that in a book. Who do

Had an interesting conversation the other day with a person the
opposite race. Told them I couldn't put my finger on when the
race issue becomes a race issue. Go to the schools, and in
elementary, you see children of all races interacting, playing, working
on projects, etc. Go to the middle school and you see the
same. Went to have lunch at STHS and saw the various races
interacting with each other and showed no such issues. So I
asked, when does it begin to be an issue?
The answer I got - it's only and issues because it's an excuse used by
the older generations. Interesting, the answer came from a black
man. Guess since his answer wouldn't fit the template he'd be

Not being from the south, I don't know about dock jobs versus office

in our job experiences. We have lost out on a jobs that were given to
those of other races strictly because they were another race and not
because they were more qualified for the jobs. They had less
qualifications than our family members, but there was a quota to be
filled. The race thing goes both ways. I am really sick of the attitude
that some have had it so much worse. We have all had bad experiences
with race issues so we need to move beyond our personal experiences and
look at what is happening in this country.
The freedoms that are being taken away by this administration are our
fundamental freedoms. For those of you who do not see that , I feel
sorry for you. Many think that because we have a black President, that
is all that matters. His race (remember he is half white) is only
important to him when he can use it for his political advantage. He
doesn't care about the black community in this country or he would be
doing things to really improve their lives. He just wants the black
vote. Giving people more promises and more hand outs is only
putting them into more bondage to the government. The more bondage
someone is in, the less freedom they have. I would think the black
