Editor's post: I'm too tired to even make a comment tonight. What a display of ignorance at the county councl meeting by racist Norman Dorn. He was against the map until he was told it gave him a 60% majority of black voters. Then he didn't give a rats arse of how it affected Willie Bright or anyone else. What an idiot.

Could someone please tell me if they have been able to accomplish anything by appealing their
reassessment?  Thanks.

Editor's note: The deadline for filing a challenge does not expire until next month (I believe it is the earlier part of September). Each will have to be heard individually. The results of those hearings are not made public by the county, I suppose for obvious reasons. They do not want people to know how many won their appeals.

For all that it is worth, I feel Douglas Elementary is the worst school in Edgefield County.  And no, it is not because of the teachers, it is because of the principal. Her teachers work their behinds off and they never get any appreciation for it. All she does is put the teachers down and creates a very stressful work environment. She has very poor discipline and leadership skills. She is very incompetent in her job and she sure does not know how to run a school. I would not even send my dog there!! Wake up school board and get her out of there!!

I was at the meeting Tues. nite. What a load of crap! Could (Edgefield Mayor) Ken Durham have been more obvious fussing about the town having Norman Dorn representing the town? He didn't want (Norman) Dorn being their rep. Well guess what we don't like who we got either. Suck it up big boy.  Why are you so special?   I don't like having to vote for someone that covers merriwether to edgefield. It's obvious I don't have a say. Who the (heck) are you to get a special say?

The word "reasonable" has become the new catch phrase. We see our President and government officials using it, as well as our friends and neighbors. The election in 2012 is going to see more use of this word. It is thought that if you are smart enough or wise enough then you are the reasonable person. To me it is just a new, one word definition of "my way or the highway". If someone does not  agree with you, they are unreasonable (or stupid, short sighted, obstructionists etc etc-isn't that what they say about the Tea Party?) Think about it, who are really the unreasonable people out there?

Some people are just so unbelievably smart they could never be unreasonable (or so they think).  Seems like reasonable (smart???) people like Mr. Obama are out of touch with the real folks out there.  Pride and arrogance have gotten in the way of common sense. Everyone is hurt in the process.

What goes around, comes around. You reap what you sow. All those little sayings have so much truth in them.  Beware of "reasonable" people. They may not be as "reasonable" as they pretend to be. It is probably going to be their way or the highway and they will send you down the highway if you don't go along with their plans.

Editor's note: Just accept the fact that the "national media" considers you a racist. Be careful, the Department of Homeland Security has labeled white Christians as possible terrorists. We all know how white people and Christians are blowing up buildings and flying planes into the World Trade Center are common occurrences.

Just saw on the news in Augusta - Charlie Norwood VA Hospital is suspending valet service at the hospital because of budget  cuts.  Our service men and women served to protect and defend us.  It is a slap in the face to these veterans that we cannot provide parking service for those men and women yet Obama thinks nothing of spending 1.1 million for a bus not just one but two.   Sadly this isn't a cartoon, this isn't a joke, this is FOR REAL.   Somebody tell these people we have homeless, out of work men, women and children who have no bed, food nor clothing.   When you elect millionaires to the presidency - this is what you get.
I can't wait for him and his czars to leave and take Pelosi and Reid with him.  We can't afford them.  We can't afford 4 more years of this recklessness.    Our military cannot afford to be any more demoralized by these .........

BUTTE, MONTANA

Pre-teen with Shotgun vs. Illegal Alien Home Invaders

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11-year-old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay-shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12-gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee-crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45-caliber handgun he had taken from another home-invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David O'Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why the good stuff like this never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news?..

An 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home and herself against two murderous, illegal immigrants and she wins.

She is still alive!!!!

Now THAT is Gun Control!!

Thought for the day

Calling an illegal alien an 'un-documented immigrant' Is like calling a drug dealer an 'un-licensed pharmacist'!!

Where is the accountability and why isn't anyone going to jail? What the hell is going on around here and why can't anyone get a straight answer?

I have long thought the street lights installed along Sweetwater Road in the vicinity of Mt. Vintage were an annoying waste of someone’s money. More light pollution we didn’t need and when the roads were wet they actually worsened visibility. I thought it ironic that some of the same people that wanted to preserve the country charm of Sweetwater Road saw fit to add all of those lights. I hope they have been turned off for good. I expect that the homeowners in Mt. Vintage paid for these for the past years and now maybe can use the money for things more practical.

Another issue is the increasing use of reflective materials on road signs. I believe we have over achieved here and gone a few too many steps beyond practical. First the sign posts do not need to be reflective – we just need to see the sign. Second we do not need the signs reflecting back at us with the intensity of our own headlights. The main issue here is more waste of our tax dollars.

Finally, I sure am is hopin that redistricting will somehow get our arse out of Mr. Dorns district!

Actually, one of the original BOD members and writer of the charter is still at the school and on the BOD and it was her idea to allow out-of-county kids to attend for free. She is a HUGE supporter of athletics.
I don't agree with the whole address scam, so that kids can go to the school of their choice, but trust me, Fox Creek isn't the only school to do it.

re:  Save the fees for "non county entities" who want to use county facilities

Once again Fox Creek parents are whining about access to facilities in Edgefield County.  This really is ironic, since FCHS wants to be their own entity and not be associated with the ECSD unless it's to complain or challenge how the county facilities are used.  FCHS could actually build their own fields, that is if they can get  ALL those Aiken County residents who legally and illegally attend an Edgefield County School to pay the tuition required of any student entering a school in which they are not zoned for.  Yes, we know about all the shared addresses and fake moves, so that your out of county students can play athletics.  Without reporting the actual number of out of county students who attend FCHS then you can keep your charter.  A charter that is maintained on the premise that it is benefiting the children of Edgefield County by serving more students from this county than outside the county.
The idea of a high school in the Merriwether area was a good one when it was first conceived in order to benefit local residents. The originators of FCHS are no longer affiliated with it because it has spiraled away from the educational purpose it once served into a local facility where athletics are on the forefront of its agenda.  Now, it seems that the focus of FCHS is to draw attention from Aiken County athletes.  Please keep your games at Lions Field in Aiken County where you feel more comfortable.
Oh...and if you want to argue that you are Edgefield County residents who pay taxes just like the rest of us and have the right to use the county facilities whenever it suits you, think again.  You gave up that right when you encouraged parents to dishonestly enroll their children in FCHS taking funds from the students who actually live in this county.  Yes, you made the choice to sacrifice even your own child's educational funds by sharing your addresses and encouraging false applications.

Dr. Crenshaw Named Chairman of WEPEC Superintendent’s Group??!!...can't believe this; it gets stranger and stranger.  Is everyone afraid of this woman?  Seems like the school board is full of wimps and not interested in the education and safety of Edgefield's children.

Ok, So  you say that FC used their own labor and materials to  line the  football field when they use it.. I know of one time last year that they did and only because MMS didn't do it and FC was not happy...  Havent seen FC this week  marking the field off for a game on SAT. The only ones doing that is the MMS Coaching staff and they didn't supply MMS with any paint.

Sometimes in life you have to behave like adults, and professionals.  The school district is playing the blame game every chance they get. They seem to blame the teachers, Board, and anyone else for things that they should take responsibility for.  Grown-ups and professionals should accept that mistakes happen, accept the consequences when they are wrong, and learn from them. instead of turning up the heat on the pot and then pointing the finger when the pot oils over. They should be able to make decisions that are in the best interest of the students of the county and prepare them for what lies ahead in life, not ruin names, deplete morale, accuse others when things they do cause dismay for it's employees, and create a learning environment that the students do not receive the education they are entitled to because of leadership and decisions made for personal gain and power rather than growth for all. Support and strength from the district is what everyone needs to succeed and become the district we use to be again, but that is hard to do when those two things are not present anymore. Fear, intimidation, and other negative characteristics are what seems to lead the county now.  Why don't parents stand up for the children and wake up to what is happening to this education system here?  Look at the past and then look at the present. No AYP in four years. That's astonishing, and disheartening!  The students come first in education, not teachers, not the upper echelon, or appearances.

WELL,.NOW I UNDERSTAND.
Our English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective nouns for the various groups of animals. We are all familiar with a Herd of cows, a Flock of chickens, a School of fish and a Gaggle of geese.

Less widely known is a Pride of lions, a Murder of crows, a Rook of ravens, an Exaltation of doves and, (presumably because they look so wise), a Parliament of owls.
Now, consider a group of Baboons. These are the loudest, most obnoxious, most aggressive, most vicious, most dangerous and least intelligent of  all primates. And what is the proper collective noun for a group of these uncivilized creatures?
Believe it or not, it is: a Congress of baboons!

I guess that pretty much explains everything that comes out of  Washington!

Yeah.  The left is now blaming the recession on earthquakes and tsunamis.  And earthquakes on the "Bush Fault".

Katrina was dubbed a racist hurricane created by Bush to deliberately target the majority black areas of New Orleans.

Now we have Hurricane Irene.....

I'm not sure how the "Bush Fault" managed to generate a hurricane, but I'm sure that accusation will be forthcoming, or at the very least it will be the
Tea Party's fault.  (I think I saw a news story about there being 50,000 Tea Party members on the West coast of Africa with fans aiming toward
the Northeast) (Where they found enough electrical receptacles hasn't been disclosed yet)

But after listening to the leftists spew their lies false claims and just pure hooey...... and considering that "hot air" is the primary source of energy for a hurricane.....

Why is Maxine Waters (and her cohorts) not being blamed?

On a side note.  You hear the word "cohort" used all the time.  Is there such thing as a "hort"?  :)

What is not a commonly known fact, is that Edgefield County Adult Ed uses FC facilities (classroom, computer lab, restrooms) free of charge. The one time the Rec Dept asked to use our practice field, they were welcomed with open arms (free of charge) and told they were welcome to use the field anytime they needed to.

Re:  Boy Scouts.
If the place needs to be sprayed, don't ask for a free hand-out!  Tell the boys that you need to raise some money to pay for the services!  Have a car wash, sell some doughnuts, sell some grilled chicken plates.  Teach them that money must be earned in order to get what you need.

And...

The government is broke?  In that case, all of those big 15-passenger vans that are paid for with our tax dollars, along with the gas, for the employees at the federal prison to get back and forth to work need to be turned back in!  They are white and have black stripes, writing, or something on the sides.
web posted August 27, 2011

Yes, it is a well known fact that the county installed the lights at MMS.  What probably is not so well known is that FC, using their labor and materials, lined the field every single week last year, even if we weren't using the field that week, benefiting all who use the field.  We actually only used the field twice, maybe three times, where the Rec Dept used it multiple times per week.  However, paying a fee is not the real issue.  The real issue is once again our school board and their lack of adherence to their own policies.  If you read the district's policies on facility use, it does not list any exceptions to facility fees, but plainly states these fees can not be waived.  We would gladly pay a fee without complaint, we pay Lion's Field without issue, if only the district's policies were applied equitably.  In fact, why charge fees for anything among "county entities".  There is really no gain of revenue in that, its simply money being moved from one county budget to another.  Save the fees for "non county entities" who want to use county facilities.  That would be real revenue.

Editor's note: Fox Creek is not a district public school, so to speak. It is a charter school, otherwise known as a 501(3)C private entity to provide public education. They are not out for what is best for the school district, they are out for what is best for Fox Creek. That's not an opinion, that is the reality of a charter school in any school district. They compete for the public funds.

The county recreation is fee based and is paid not only by all taxpayers through a millage rate
and school taxes, but also those parents registering their children in the programs. The county also cleared and leveled, at taxpayer cost, the (proposed) football field at Fox Creek free of charge. What Fox Creek pays towards any of these operations is what I believe is the basis of the question being posed.

White extremist conservatives got us in this mess. Publishing so-called insider info to portray him as the type of black guy that white America is scared of is more damaging to this country then anything Obama does on a day-to-day basis.

RE: " Thankful we have at least one board member who is willing to hold Crenshaw accountable.  Sad that the others sit, hands over their mouths.  I do have one question though.  What's the purpose of the school board having an attorney when his recommendations are obviously being ignored?"

and

"....The simple solution to all of the woes in our school district is for the school board to send Crenshaw back...."

Uhp!  Two more lights came on. Pretty soon we'll have enough to have the whole chandelier lit!  Crenshaw uses that tactic all the time.  She's "says" she got advice from another attorney instead of Greg Anderson.  That's probable because Greg tells er the truth, that what she's doing, or not doing in most cases is probably not legal or could cause trouble for the district and taxpayer.  You see, all she's doing is looking for cover so she has either found some idiot attorney that is giving wrong advice, or she's not conveying the situation exactly the right way to the attorney and they are giving advice to her based on what "she is telling them", or it's what I believe, it's a phantom attorney.

Be patient with the school board.  When you deal with a snake, you have to be somewhat cautious and methodical in your approach.  If not, you may not get bit, but the snake will slither away, only for you to have to deal with it another day.  She's slippery, but eventually it will all catch up to her.  You can stay one step ahead, but, one trip, one misstep, and................look her pal Schilit, he got away with at his lat district, and he got away with it for three years here, but he tripped, and BAM!  I would say you're right though, there were two that have their hands over their mouths, ahh hem, can you say Bibbs and Cooks?  If these two idiots are taken aback, then you know she's in trouble.  Kinda foolish to circle the wagons around a dead horse, doncha think.

As for sending her back to where she came from - Hemmingway doesn't want her either.

This could be a very informative and eye-opening story for the public.  I look forward to your response and upcoming articles.

How’s this for being totally outrageous!!!!  Obama's carbon footprint goes beyond reason...this two face untrustworthy president should be impeached!

And We’re Off: Obama Boards The  Magical Misery Tour  Bus — Update: Secret Service Buys Two New $1.1 Million Buses For Three-Day Trip…

US President Barrack Hussein Obama walks to his bus as he arrives in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport , Minnesota , August 15, 2011, where he is to begin his three-day bus tour in the Midwest centering on ways to grow the economy.

This 3-day bus tour is being touted as The Magical Mystery Tour, or The "STIMUBUS"..........bought and paid for by the American taxpayer (Buses made and bought in Canada !).

He  FLEES into an airport somewhere in the Midwest, hops into a brand new 1.1 Million $ bus, paid for by you and me,  for a “bus tour” ‘around the Midwest’, and after an hour or so, gets driven back to the airport for ANOTHER FLIGHT, lands at another airport where another 1.1 Million $ brand new black bus is waiting for him… and repeats all that until his Midwest bus’ tour’ is done??  Oh yes......and THEN he leaves on a 12 day vacation to Martha's Vineyard .......to REST UP from this campaign bus tour!

And don't forget........those brand new shiny black buses   aren’t DRIVEN to the location where they meet Obama. Those buses are loaded up on one or more C-17s. Then, they are flown to the destination ahead of   AirForce-1.

AND!.......this is REPEATED FOR EVERY CAMPAIGN STOP.

On this 'bus tour', the   Prez   will lecture the 'little people' on how they need to live within their means and cut-back!  Remember when very recently Obama told that family man to GO BUY A HYBRID VAN when he said he   couldn’t afford to fill up his truck????

Obama's   'carbon footprint' must be as large as most cities by now.

All of this on the taxpayer's dime.....Unbelievable!!!!!!!

I work 50 to 60 hours a week in the private sector. Every month they take Federal & State taxes out of my check. Every year I pay City and County property taxes. Every day, for the past month, I have observed my tax dollars being spent on four grown men sitting on buckets in the town square weeding the flower beds. Every day I see these men sitting on buckets, I wonder if this is truly a necessity or is our town just “making” work to justify their positions? I can’t believe in these belt-tightening times that our tax dollars are spent paying four grown men to weed flower beds. With the sacrifices families have to make every day, shouldn’t our town be more responsible when spending our hard earned tax dollars? If all the town of Edgefield has for these four grown men to do is to sit on a bucket and pull weeds, then send them home and let them get a real job. One that is not dependant on private sector workers having to support. It is time our City and County government realizes this town, county, state, and country is in great economic hardship and act responsibly. Take a look at our City & County payroll and ask yourselves, “Is there any here whose job is vital to the function of this town or county”?  If you answer that question honestly, would I have to ride by and look at four grown men, sitting on buckets, pulling weeds?

Every day I bend over and kick the hades out of myself for buying property and home in the Johnston area. The economy dictates my property going down in value, all the while the highly qualified tax assessor (an Obama supporter) says the value of my home is going up. I am not the only one in this county who is at the mercy of an unqualified tax assessor. OHHHHH....
Mr. County Administrator, I would like to AX you a question. While working as the Aiken County Administrator, would you have hired this tax assessor?  Edgefield and Johnston are worthy to be towns in a Erskin Caldwell or Tennessee Williams novel. For example, Johnston boasts one of the highest percentages for sex offenders residing in a small South Carolina town. Why is that?  Law enforcement is not making life uncomfortable for these slime balls. Afraid of the ACLU or NAACP? Having sex offenders on every corner helps raise the value of property and encourages families to move
to this town. NOT! Then there is the school system managed by a Superintendent who was hired by a school board (Bibbs, Crooks, and Jack-ass-son sisters) as inept as any on the face of this planet. This same school board at the encourgement of Moron Bibbs hired the now defunct Personnel Lady, Madam Clunkscales, a former car dealer employee, who caused more personnel problems than could be found in Hitler's Bunker. And of course this highly qualified friend of Bibbs, hired a principal with prior moral issues who should have never been hired in the first place. When I served as a military officer, and
there was a scandal of this magnitude, every one from the commander down the chain of command was relieved.  This should be an opportune time for the School board to NOT renew the Superintendent's contract. Time to clean house and hire competent people to lead. Otherwise, no one in their right mind would buy a privy in this county.  Not even a chicken plucking factory would move into Edgefield County. Who would they hire?  There are some potential employees hanging out in front of the Johnston Liquor store. NOT! For those of you who work every day and pay taxes so our county of entitlement people can sleep all day, party all night and eat better than the rest of us....time to look at getting a bill passed through our state senate which stipulates drug testing for all those on Welfare. Other states are looking at this legislation.  Time for me to bend over again and kick the #### out of myself for being held captive in a county where incompetents rule.

Editor's note: County Administrator Roger LeDuc came from the City of Aiken, not Aiken County. He is making the best of the personnel he inherited from the past majority of the past 20 years. Thankfully we have a new majority that is getting things done.

In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem).
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
So, here is my question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone who is sitting their BUTT ----doing drugs while I work.
Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year, but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the united States.

So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar). Immelt is supposed to help create jobs. I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.

The cost is $82.84 per scoop....so out of a hundred dollar bill you are at least promised some CHANGE..!

When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but after you pay for it, the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you at no charge.

Jesus took care of our sin by dying on the cross. We have the opportunity to have our sin forgiven if we accept Him as our Savior. We have a choice to make. The Old Testament gave us the Law and laws, the New Testament gives us Jesus and grace. Let's be careful who we throw stones at. Just remember, God hates sin but He loves the sinner. If the county council or interim county administrator have not already looked carefully into the credentials or background of our Tax Assessor, then I suggest it be done. First, this tax assessor was hired by a known idiot, Wayne Adams, who should probably be picking up tin cans instead of managing the welfare of a county. Probably a good idea for both Adams and our Tax Assessor to pick up cans.  Second, this tax assessor has a history of over appraising properties and then is challenged to make the correct change in dollar value. This is a time consuming process, and cost money to do over what should have been done right in the first place. As I write this opinion, there are many people I know in Edgefield county who are appealing their property value increases, and these same people
believe our tax assessor has risen to her highest level of incompetence. This tax assessor, who probably is an Obama supporter, is applying her interpertation of the Socialist agenda.... getting more money from the majority in order to redistribute the wealth. Third, you would expect our interim administrator who is supposedly very capable, a fine Aiken county record, would begin to suspect the tax assessor needs to either get proper certification and education to perform her abilities or inabilities, or hit the road with Wayne Adams.  How many more incompetent people does our country need to allow residence? OHHHHHHHH......this tax assessor does not live in our county. Makes perfect sense to me. I suggest our county council, less Brother Dorn and Mr. Bright Bulb, take a careful look at this tax assessor, much like the school board took a careful look at their personnel director. Time to begin shucking the corn and time to get rid of the chaff. Finally, how much money does it cost the county, that's you and me, to have its tax assessor spend extra time reviewing tax payer complaints for over taxation during an economic recession and property recession, when most property values go down, NOT UP?????? County Council start asking your voters these questions and you will begin to see there is a problem in one of those court house rooms.

Thank you Editor for printing what the school board and Superintendent Crenshaw should have told us about Schilit.

To determine the truth in a matter, you have to be willing to be a truthseeker, to delve into the facts no matter how unpleasant they may be. What did Crenshaw do for an investigation? Ask Schilit if these allegations were true? And when Schilit denied them, did she decide that he was telling the truth so these claims were just unfounded rumors? Yes sirree, no more investigation is needed and the reputation of the school district is safe.

I was always taught that "where there is smoke, there is fire." Rumors always have some measure of truth in them. So if the claims and rumors are persisting over years, something is there. Kudos to the new school board for being willing to perform their own investigation and seeing that there was a fire beneath the smoke.

For three years, though, Schilit's inappropriate behavior was tolerated. This is considered "sexual harassment" and "creating a hostile work environment" out in the real world where I work. These are the types of behaviors that would make my company lose an EEO lawsuit because management was made aware of what was going on and did nothing to stop it.

Schilit should have been fired to make a strong statement that his behavior was not going to be tolerated by our school district. Instead, he is allowed to resign; the school board and superintendent keep their heads in the sand. And the reputation of our school district has sunk to a new low.

If you remember I wrote you about why they only paved 2 streets instead of five, and you were told there was nothing   wrong with the others. Perhaps he should ride around here more slowly or get out and look because there are large cracks in all the streets, pot holes, bad dips.  These streets are in no better shape than the ones that were paved. Please look into this further, it is getting worse.

Here you have it.  An absolute IDIOT!  You probably also thought it was okay for a sexual predator to reside in the White House. But you did get one thing right, accidentally.  You're right "cops" don't get involved in adulterous matters.  So Winnie the Pooh, think, think, think, and try not to strain too hard.  Why would "cops" get involved?

If you read it right, he wasn't only "accused" of adultery, his first wife successfully sued for a divorce on the grounds of adultery. Sounds like you condone such activity.  You must not be married.  If your spouse knew you thought adultery was okay or no big deal, I'd say you'd be single in short order.  And if you condone that type of activity in the work place, hope you're not in a supervisory position, and hope your company has lots of money-you're a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.

With that mindset, you probably also thought it was okay for Cocaine trafficking Jackson to sit on the school board.

Small minds?

FYI I am none of those things that you said.  I myself want to know what Schilit did that finally led to his demise because I feel he deserves whatever came his way and it sounds like it was long overdue.  Will I discuss it? No but would voice an opinion if asked.  Do I know the editor? No and I wouldn't know him if I passed him on the street.  As far as the school board or any other district employee I have no allegiance to any.  If they need to go too then I am sure in  time they will also be gone.  Am I satisfied with the release of information?  No because I want to know the really "bad, bad stuff".  The affairs and adultery I could have guessed and no he is not the only man or woman guilty of it.  In his position and any position in the public eye it will definitely be the downfall.  Why do I want to know the "bad, bad stuff"?  Well again if people are going to keep mentioning it, the editor included then I want to know.  Why do I want to know so bad?  Because if it is so bad then it should be made public and I want Mr. Schilit embarrased as much as possible.  So Mr. Editor we are still waiting since the real stuff is so bad as it has been stated several times by you and others.  You still did a good job with the story published on Monday.

Editor's note: Edgefield Daily nor myself made any accusations. We have reported the facts that have been confirmed. It is up to the school district to release the rest of the information. If it is not criminal, as they reported to the Sheriff's Office, then it should be released to the public.

This past week as I was getting ready to pay for my groceries, I was asked if I would like to make a donation to the hungry in Johnston. I said to the cashier, "You have got to be joking." In retrospect, I guess the only hungy people in Johnston are the large population of sex offenders living in town or maybe the drug dealers who are not selling as much pharmacutical products as they would like or the big mamas who have spent their last dollar buying some form of gambling product.  I have seen some of these hungry people who visit one of our local churches to pick up their food and they all look good and healthy to me and even drive better cars than most people I know.

It is evident in Johnston,  people are working hard to feed the big mamas and their little ones who
for one reason or the other don't work, ain't ever going to work, don't want to work, but will work in spending our tax dollars buying 'scratch offs', or other gaming schemes to make money by not working.

Let's not forget those fine men who hang around the local Johnston liquor store passing around the brown paper bag.  I'll bet this bag contains phone numbers where these healthy looking men can get jobs or maybe pay their child support.  I can not count the number of times I have been in local
grocery stores behind a healthy mama who had the best looking steaks, and other grocery items in a buggy, and then paid for these  items with that ole EBT card.  Most of these mamas rear ends are bigger than the grocery cart they are pushing or maybe the cart is pulling them. It may be that the hungry in Johnston are really people who need more money than their EBT card or welfare
check can provide, and the steak and crab leg menue is not enough to properly feed big mama and her entitlement crowd. I am more than willing to give to the hungry and needy, but I need to know who the needy are and are they really needy or just shaking the system for more goodies.

An American sailor, who Obama, just a few weeks ago, was debating on whether or not to PAY, did.  In fact, if you remember a little less than two years ago, his administration actually charged and attempted to court-martial 3 Navy Seals from Seal Team Six, when a terrorist suspect they captured, complained they had punched him during the take down and bloodied his nose. His administration further commented how brutal they were. The left were calling them Nazi's and Baby Killers. Now all of a sudden, the very brave men they vilified are now heroes when they make his administration look good in the eyes of the public. Obama just happened to be the one in office when the CIA finally found the b...... And our sailors took him out. Essentially, Obama only gave an answer. Yes or No, to him being taken out. I always had a lot of respect for School Board Chairman Brad Covar, that has been severely damaged. I have never had that much respect for Dr. Crenshaw as she is a flake and a fake in my opinion. It is just sad to see Brad and her rowing the same little dingy as if nothing ever happened.

I can answer the question, "When did Crenshaw know about Shilit?"  She knew from the beginning which was shortly after he became principal at ST.  She also knows Clinkscales didn't do her homework because he had issues in the district from whence he came.

My question is, "When is the district going to hire from within and promote current employees with a track record?"  The district hires outside and offers exorbinate increases over the previous persons salary which equals huge spending.  You would never know the district is in a budget crisis as spending is out of control.  I would love to know what the district spends on food alone!

Editor's note: School Board member Bridget Clark pounded this point in the last school board meeting and is pushing for it to be rectified. I think it should be stopped in the schools where the teachers did not approve of it. When Supt. Crenshaw spoke, it was all about the money - $600,000. Screw rules and requirements when there is money being offered as a bribe to the school districts. It was Crenshaw's job to make sure the requirements were met. More "duck and cover".

I have heard this statement a lot lately "Our political system is broken". Does this bother anyone else? The ramifications of that statement are huge.  What political system is better? It isn't the political system is broken, it is the politicians that are broken. Most of them have been there too long, have too many self interests and are corrupted by the power and money. There is also a Progressive group of politicians that would like to see us under a different form of government. They ignore the Constitution and criticize those who try to uphold it.

We need to be very, very careful to protect the system that our forefathers put in place when they set up our government. What would be the alternative? Think about it. I think "broken political system"  is one of those seemingly "innocent" remarks that could lead down a dangerous path...sort of like "hope and change". It really did mean that things would change and guess what, they did. The "change" is killing our freedoms, our finances and our way of life. It will destroy the USA as we know it in the end. I am not sure that is what folks bargained for when they jumped on the "hope and change" bandwagon.

Obama "hoped" things would "change" and it has been a train wreck for those that love what this country and its foundations! Let's be careful not to get rid of what is called "the broken system"! Let's vote out the broken politicians! The unbroken system allows us to do that, at least so far.

Phrases are easy to latch onto and chant. They can get a crowd going for sure. It is when we have to actually live with the reality of those phrases that it gets difficult. It is pretty difficult right now living with all this "hope and change".

RE: "I agree with some of the other posters.  You have promised release of the details surrounding Schilit but so far it has just been "false promises".  I agree it takes away from your credibility as a reporter.  Now either release the info or stop talking about it....."

I always find it interesting how some people always twist and contort things, not to benefit the community as a whole, but themselves.  Just because you don't know some of the details, you try to pressure the Editor to give up what you consider the "juicy" stuff so yo can run around and pretend you're in the know, or you have some pull cause you got the Editor to publish whatever he has.  It's mealy mouths like you that huff and puff, but when the time comes to really get down to brass tacks, you will be no where to be found.

Some of the information your asking to be released is very very bad, and really sheds a bad light on the District and Board.  But once you get this information, are you going to be just as adamant in calling for the heads on a silver platter of the members of the Board and District that are now acting as enablers?  You better be!

I say, we elected the Board to do a job.  This is a pretty new Board and some are still learning how the system works, and how to deal with the others, i.e., Bibbs, Cooks, Covar.  The Board didn't come clean the last meeting, surprisingly enough, under the leadership of Covar.  And now one may have to ask why.  Why is Covar running scared?  What does Crenshaw have on Covar?  You see how this snowballs.  And the deeper you dig, the dirtier you get.   Prudent leadership would have put out a statement to quell public curiosity.  Instead, they chose to duck for cover, which now has the sharks circling in the water because there's blood.  That was a very, very stupid move on Covar's part.

But let's not forget, Covar may be the Chairman, but he is not the majority.  Let the new majority on the Board, that we the people elected, do their job. This sends two messages - one to the District, the Board is in fact there to do their job, to do the job for which they were elected, and when they do it, they will do it right, and they are not afraid of the the District or NAACP.  And the second message, they are listening to their constituents and they do have the interest of our children at heart.  If they fail in this chance at the next Board meeting, then all bets are off, and we the people will take control.

I say if the Board doesn't come clean during the next meeting, when some of the members have had time to consult with professional guidance to see what they can and cannot do, then so be it.  Open the flood gates.  And whoever is in the way, oh well.  Covar included.

A lot of this information is new to the area, but there is a history, and instead of whining about the Editor releasing the info so you have some juicy gossip to engage in, you'd better be served if you did a little homework yourself.

Okay, so no problem to report.  Why the appearance of collusion on your part???  Since there's no ongoing investigation, report the facts on what is alleged to have occurred.

Not knowing what the motivations are for YOUR hesitation to report this, why all of a sudden are you clamping down on wandering minds, preventing the local residents from freely exchanging information?  I can appreciate your prevention of individuals making clearly slanderous accusations, but I'm sure there are some who have sent in basic facts on what is "alleged" to have occurred, such as:  Why was the principal was removed? What incident was referred by the superintendent to the Sheriff's office for investigation?  Simple questions.  Candidly, this situation is doing edgefielddaily some harm in the loss of credibility, at least in my eyes, because of the lack of appearance of objectivity.

People wonder why the Tea Party has come into existence.  For me it goes beyond the financial issues, it goes to the heart of the frustration citizens feel when their own government takes a patronizing view of the citizenry and the press refuses to engage and exercise their 1st Amendment responsibilities to be the "watchdog" of our government.  I am so sick of our school board.  I had thought Hoffman had a spine...nope.  I thought Covar had some stones....nope.  I had hopes for Wates and Clark...again, promises, no delivery.....Bibbs and Cooks....idiots.   Much like our elected officials in Washington, in a similar way, our own School board takes a position that the "unwashed peasants" aren't worthy or responsible enough to handle what's going on in their government and schools.  Please remember this when the school board comes to you for help on activities, support for legislative initiatives, bond issues...etc....and please remember all of them during election time.

Speaking of elections.....Senator Massey lives right here in Edgefield.  Someday his child might attend our county schools and he's always quick to mug for a school photo op.....with Schilit too, a voter might ask....where's he in all of this???  Typical politician, come out to mug for the camera during fair political weather, hiding in a dark corner during political storms.  It does make me wonder, where are all the exceptional leaders????  Where is the moral courage????  Not in Edgefield County...the county of 10 Governors....but no leaders.

Editor's note: Your post was cut due to repetitive Editor's comments (and length) and focused on your named Editor's comment. If the School Board does not release the information I will, and it will be on more media outlets than just Edgefield Daily. I am not trying to draw this out, I am trying to be fair to Chairman Covar and Dr. Crenshaw. My patience is wearing thin.

RE:  In Response to the need for African Americans to Address Criminal Violence in their Community

To the person who responded to my note a couple days earlier....thanks for taking the time to reply in a civil manner.  To answer your questions....

1.  No, my spouse nor I were threatened, intimidated or assaulted.  The larger point which you miss is most "group" violent behavior doesn't begin overnight.  It's usually as series of event which individuals push the limits, and when society doesn't push back, they incrementally get bolder.  My question is why are most black youths incapable of adhering to societal norms???  And oh, before you think it's the white man keeping the black man down comment....here's what the black Philadelphia mayor has to say about black culture and how the black youth today are an embarrassment of their race...http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/aug/8/mayor-talks-tough-to-black-teens-after-flash-mobs/

2.  As for the articles you post...you are absolutely correct.  There are many instances of white mob/behavior....candidly, I can say that when I wrote my initial posting, I thought about the mayhem soccer events in the United Kingdom, or sport events in our country.  The difference is usually hyped adrenalin of the sporting event itself (not an excuse....just a possible reason). Contrast with the LA riots and Reginald Denny taking a brick to the head, Watts in the 60s, New Orleans, Katrina, Chicago, and now London, it's as if blacks look for a reason to create mayhem...the following article highlights that most of the perpetrators are black, http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/katharinebirbalsingh/100099830/these-riots-were-about-race-why-ignore-the-fact/

but notice how the main stream media tries to cover up the fact that these acts are perpetrated by blacks.  I noticed that the articles you cite about white violence was covered by the main stream media and they didn't hide the fact the perps were white.  Here's the problem with your comparison...a white assaults a black it's a "hate crime".....black assaults a white.....it's covered up, and if the perps are charged, it's not with a hate crime.

3.  Now, I've freely condemned instances of white crime.  And for me, there's nothing more pathetic looking than a white kid looking and acting "hip hop" (hat sideways, and those idiotic hand gestures), those white kids are stupid and I let them know when I encounter them.  I'll bet you don't have the intestinal fortitude to condemn the black kids....do you?   Because all you can do if focus on the color instead of the behavior and culture....I only mention the race because of the culture....you immediately had to counter with "white kids".   Ever wonder why many whites look down on black CULTURE, because many cannot achieve the higher level of thinking expressed by self-control and self criticism, I truly do pity your race because it's going down the crapper with this type of culture.

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH OUR GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM - - - -

The folks who are getting free stuff, don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, because the folks who are paying for the free stuff, can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their
own stuff.

And, The folks who are paying for the free stuff, want the free stuff to stop. And the folks who are getting the free stuff, want even MORE free stuff on top of the free stuff they're already getting!

Now..... The people who are forcing the people who PAY for the free stuff, have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff, That the people who are PAYING for the free stuff, are being mean.

So .... the people who are GETTING the free stuff, have been convinced they need to HATE the people who are PAYING for the free stuff by the people who are forcing the people who are PAYING for the free stuff and GIVING them the free stuff in the first place.

And there you have it in a nutshell.

Jesse Jackson added former Chicago Democrat Congressman Mel Reynolds to the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition staff.

Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clinton's last-minute pardoning spree.

Reynolds received commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence on 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud, and lying to the Federal Election Commission.

He was also concurrently serving a five year term for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer.
This is a first in American politics. An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate, won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate, and then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate!

Reynolds new job?

Morale is definitely down in Edgefield County, if you don’t believe me you should have attended the opening session today.  There was little to no enthusiasm and it was clear by the teachers’ faces that they would have much rather been back at their schools working…or at least on the faces of the teachers/schools that decided to show up.  David Mathis, Sharon Keesley, and Diane Murrell (when they were asst. superintendents) would never have allowed such a disorganized, podunk event to take place. But, then again, those 3 people truly CARED about the students and teachers in Edgefield County.

OH MY WORD...Unbelievable meeting of the Edgefield County School Board.  I attended the meeting and was appalled at the behavior and comments presented.   Come on...really....your skin color doesn't give anyone at all a pass to do a sub par job. You should do your job well or move on.   We are in a serious mess in our District.  The situation at STHS is only a part of it.  "The buck stops here" for a good leader.  There is no way on this earth that Crenshaw did not know what was happening at the high school WAY before it escalated to the point it did.  The evaluations that the teachers completed contained information that should have opened the door for a true investigation of the allegations way back then.  It continued on and there have been serious actions and damage done and NO...all of the accounts were not "consensual" at all.   I plead with the Sheriff's office to continue the investigation into Schilit's actions and the obvious cover up and protection that he was given over this time period.   In the real business world, you would never, ever get away with this behavior and even the slightest allegation prompts serious investigation.   There is a victim and I use the word in the truest of senses and I urge the appropriate officials to pursue the investigation.  It would only open the floodgates and we probably would be shocked at what would truly come out of this.   It doesn't matter what color Crenshaw's skin is....the employees at the high school deserved the respect and protection to be allowed to work in a non-hostile environment and be able to do what they are there to do...TEACH OUR CHILDREN!   Not to fight off advances from their own Principal.   This has gone on way too long and there should be consequences for the "Top" because a leader is a leader and takes responsibility for what happens under their watch...good or bad!!!

As for TAP...what a joke to even suggest that this was considered from the "bottom up"  Unbelievable and a slap in the faces of the employees that this statement was even made.  Bridget Clark hit the nail on the head....the employees deserve to hear from the Board and the District.  They may not consider it a "problem", but if your employees have a problem, then there is a problem and it has to be addressed.  Stand up and take responsibility for your actions!  This program has caused way too much tension and problems within our already frail school system.

Boy did the post two below the referenced one, dovetail!  Ole Crackhead Jackson has once again slithered into the public light.  Hey dumb mass, we're cleaning up the mess your beloved sisters and brothers created.  HINT. HINT.  SCHILIT IS WHITE!  All trash is being removed, even recyclables like you Nate!  But we gotta hand it to you, you sly ole fox you, hiding all of that genius you possess, you sly devil you.  Bragging on Crenshaw and fawning over how she's the most accomplished person we have ever had.  That is so true considering BUMBLING IDIOTS LIKE YOU, DORN, BIBBS, and COOKS have set the bar sooooooo high.

And Nate, how will you know what's going on in the executive Seessions now that Clinkscales is gone.  Good question.  How did you know when she was still employed?  Are you stating she was a mole for the NAACP and providing protected information to you and your brothers and sisters in the NAACP?  Have you just revealed your real intent?  And why would you worry about your source of information being disrupted  with the removal of Clinkscales, you still have Bibbs, Cooks, and Crenshaw present in those meetings, who in turn attend the secret meetings called by Dorn and Willie.  Remember?  Thank you Nate, you bumbling idiot-you just confirmed what the public suspected.

And white election stealers?  You're so funny.  I can't believe your unemployed, you could be a stand-up comedian.  Wasn't it Brother Bibbs that secreted a redistricting map to Columbia, which resulted in having lines drawn to guarantee his and several other past/present school boards members "district'ed" into office?

We're keeping score - Viola, Mary Alice, Nathaniel, Clinkscales, Schilit, Kearns.  Now let's spin the wheel.  Round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows - Courtney, Bibbs, Turner, Lindeman, texting/cell phone using teachers.......

And remember dear public - you always have to ask the question - with bumbling fools like Bibbs, Cooks, and Nate going to bat to save Crensahw, what is the objective?  Follow the money............or so-called, power.

mr.editor
its apparent that the district is not going to reveal the reason mr schilit was transferred, if you have information you have a duty to report the news.. don't be affraid of the BOE.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Well, the public will be looking to (Edgefield Daily) to release the story on Schilit because the school board chose to bury their heads in the sand under the guise of "Legal Briefings - Information" or maybe it was "Resignation" where four were for it and two were opposed.

In any case, the meeting was well worth attending.  We were entertained by "Concerned Citizen" Nathaniel Jackson who lamented the loss of the Human Resource Officer as he feared the board was going back to the days of putting their friends and relatives into jobs and wanted to understand how the hiring process would work now. It seems to me that having the Human Resource Officer didn't stop friends and relatives from being hired.  Then Mr Jackson wondered how we were now going to know what was being discussed in Executive session.  I can only assume that this concern is related to the recent elections of new board members and the lost of his cronies on the board.  From my standpoint, nothing has changed as I never knew what happened during Executive session before the elections.

The highlight of the school board meeting was experiencing Bridget Clark's bluntness and watching the school board members squirm in their seats.  How refreshing to hear such gems as if you are going to have a dress code, it must be enforced or there's no point having one! And, best of all,we (the school board) dance around issues too much without ever really coming up with a solution.  The two issues mentioned were Fox Creek and TAP.

On the TAP issue, Ms. Clark said that the school board needed to address the issues created by its implementation and own up to these mistakes because that was the only way to get the teachers to move on.  This resulted in a lively discussion between the majority of the board about TAP.  I heard Crenshaw state that TAP was implemented from the bottom up.  How laughable!! Teachers were sent an e-mail over the summer break asking them to reply only if they were voting "no." What kind of ballot is that and by e-mail over the summmer - really now!!  Some teachers never got an e-mail. TAP was implemented with out voting in some schools.  In my book, that's top down. Oh yes, and Crenshaw stated that she discussed the voting method with the state and they said it meant the requirement. When Covar suggested that he review the voting with Crenshaw and they run it back by the state, Bibbs got really upset. Why if there was nothing wrong with its implementation?

And nothing beats the public outcry when Covar discussed the superintendent's evaluation process.  Some history first, the evaluation process was approved in 2008 with goals being set.  Crenshaw's evaluation for 2008-2009 was performed in September 2009.  No new goals for the 2009/2010 school year were set; it is assumed that the previous year's goals carry over except the numbers change.  No evaluation was done for the 2009/2010 school year in 2010 although Sister Sallie refuted this.  Then something was muttered about the school board elections preventing them from doing the evaluation. Now 2010/2011 school year evaluation is due and the evalaution guidelines for 2011/2012 have been changed by the State.  Covar said that he had discussed with Crenshaw the need for her to establish some goals.  He then clearly stated that he wanted to meet with the school board to set do her 2010/2011 evaluation and set some 2011/2012 goals for Crenshaw.  The school board goals and Crenshaw goals would be merged into one set of 2011/2012 goals.  He would then have Ms. Clark draft the new instrument for the superintendents evaluation using the state guidelines.  What the public choose to hear was Mr Covar is going to set the goals for the superintendent and Ms. Clark is going to draft the new evaluation document. Even Crenshaw got on the defensive.

It was entertaining to watch. But makes me sad when I think about what this school district has lost in talent and reputation over the last three or four years.

RE: "Where black "leaders" (hear me Crenshaw, Bibbs, Cooks...and all the Black liberation/activists churches in the area) are selling black youths short (e.g in pursuit of jobs and careers......."

You almost swerved into the answer.  You see Crenshaw, Bibbs, Cooks, Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc., do not have one iota of respect for their own culture or their own people. They are the oppressors, they are the slave masters.  Under the guise of being down for the struggle, they have used that mantra and the backs of their own people to put forth their own personal agenda-enrich themselves!  And this, historically has never changed.  Who were the original slave traders-the black tribal leaders themselves.  And who has kept blacks where they are now-the blacks themselves, those like the aforementioned "leaders".

Sadly, if you are black and you do break those chains, and you become a self starter, or you become an entrepreneur, or a successful business person- you, you, are excoriated, not by whites, but by those of your own race, especially, especially, if you stray from the plantation and do not take part in the same decades old scam of failed policies.  Why do you think the NAALCP and the Crenshaws', Bibbs', Cooks', etc., want to control the Department of Education, the schools?  Because if you can keep would-be opponents dumbed down, then you can keep them on welfare, you can keep them in govt housing, you can keep them on food stamps, you can keep them on drugs, you can keep them in a constant state of turmoil and chaos, you can keep them dependent on you!  Hence, they have absolute control over you.  That is their objective.

Throughout history there are numerous whites who have fought for equal rights for all-even our forefathers when writing the constitution wanted to abolish slavery at that time, but couldn't it wasn't possible at the time.  However, they knew, by writing the Constitution they way they did, eventually, the legality of slavery would be challenged and then, ultimately be abolished.  Yet do you ever hear of those whites? Nope.  The Sharptons, Jacksons, Crenshaws, Bibbs', and Cooks' of the world want you to believe it is all them that are fighting for your rights.  And yet look at the poverty level in their own race, the crime rate in their own race, the abortion rate of their own race, the drug addiction, the unemployment, the suicide rate, the murder rate.

And the Sharptons, Jacksons, Crenshaws, Bibbs', and Cooks' brag about their accomplishments.  Bill Cosby was right.  But look how his own threw him under the bus because he strayed from the plantation.

"When is the black community going to address the culture of violence"?
When Obama became our first black president, the black thugs became empowered and realized neither Obama nor his henchman Holder would prosecute them as they did not prosecute the New Black Panthers for intimidating white voters in Philideliphia. When the black mobs finally find the wrong white person with a gun and get themselves killed, only then will notice be taken, but it will be the white persons fault for protecting themselves against the black mob thugs. I am a heavily armed white who has a gun with them at all times and will think nothing of protecting myself or my family against any thugs.
There are millions like me and these thugs will eventually run into one of us. Thug Beware!  So what is the black community teaching its youth? Nothing!!!! There are no daddies around the home, the mamas are either working, having more babies, hanging out with the new man who probably is molesting the children while the MAMA is out of the home, and the so called preachers are preaching black liberation and who should be voted into office...ie...Bibbs, Cooks, Dorn, Bright, etc.  Taking responsibility, serving your country, holding to high morals, treating people with dignity, etc are not the usual conversations you would hear in a typical black home.
There are a lot of good black folks out there who are making a difference in our country, but it is the majority who don't want to make a difference and want to 'Live the Thug' life are ruining it for the rest. Look at this Black President who is no different than a 3rd world African dictator. He is providing no leadership, no words of wisdom to any youth, no moral character, and does do one good thing and that is promote the Black Liberation theology and Communism.
Don't forget, the American Communist Party has endorsed Obama for president. What does this president do to promote harmony between races? Nothing. He wants racial distrust so he can
one day impose Martial Law and become Dictator. Many of us believe this to be the under the radar workings of the Obama administration. We are preparing for  this day. I can only hope some of the black community will realize one day that Obama is not for them, as is evidenced by his inability to create jobs. Obama and his Jackson and Sharpton want the black race to be dependent upon them
so they can continue to get the votes. The last thing these thug leaders want for their so called people is freedom, jobs, and a family structure. And finally, when was the first or last time you have seen Obama photographed in a setting with real black people, talking with them, eating with them or listening to them?

In Response to the need for African Americans to Address Criminal Violence in their Community

If  I am not mistaken, the guys in question did not strike or physically assault you or your companion while dining.  They did not display any criminal violence, but a lack of proper etiquette.  I have seen this displayed within every race when I am dining in restaurants.
I  dine in restaurants every night and you would not believe the number of Caucasian parents that let their children climb on tables, let their children eat with their hands when they should be eating with their utensils. Children are running throughout the restaurant, and yelling as if they were on a playground.  My daughter was once a toddler, and she did not display this kind of behavior.  I would not tolerate it.  Actually, she often received  compliments from other patrons of  the restaurants in which were dining because she was always one of the few children there acting as if she was used to going out in a public setting.  I also taught her that when people speak to her that she is to address them with a greeting, regardless of their color and economic status. This was taught at a young age.  I have observed that a great deal of Caucasian families do not stress this or simply make excuses for the child as "their shy".You can blatantly see this with many students when you walk down the hall of any school.  Common acknowledgement of people when one is being spoken to is showing respect and common courtesy.  Although we do have issues we need to address. You should clean up your house. In order to save someone a response, I eat out each night.  I am not on welfare, or any other public assistance.  By the way, if you can't tell, I am African American.

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;  From spiritual faith to great courage;   From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance; From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage."

We are somewhere between apathy and dependence. The Obituary follows:

Look for another devaluation of the dollar - as the QE3 (the prininting of more money) is about to begin. Those who do not know what Germany did in post WWl should start reading.

Save your pennies, they are the only real coin printed by the US Mint that has value. Under Obama, they have cut the amount of copper in the coins. A dictator cannot allow citizens to hoard wealth he wants to control.

Female small business owner sticks it to "Obumble"...says he should apologize to the American people

Her name is Amilya Antonetti.  She's a small business owner and was on Neil Cavuto's show and basically sticks it to Obama.....I love when she says, "he should apologize"...and that he knows nothing about Leadership.  As she says (she is also a CEO),  CEO's get handed problems, they get paid for fixing problems.  Obama's the CEO of this country, it's time to quit blaming Bush.

Editors note: Comments from the real world, something the "lame stream media" won't present. She's dead on right. Obama is intent on destroying our economy in order to try to take it over. Obama seems to foget that, though barely, there are more people paying taxes than getting handouts and those paying the government to make the handouts are getting fed up.

Try to contain your ideas on who does what in the government to some on the verge of realistic. If you want to find some other theories on spending, I don’t know, why don’t you look at un popular wars waged by someone other than the current President and calculate the spending on these and see if YOUR figures balance after that.

Editor's note: Would that include his illegal war in Libya? Or did you forget about that one the press won't report on? Ever heard of Syria? Egypt? We have no money but we give billions them and to Kenya this week (nice huh?) and other African despot regimes?

All hail Obama. The "grown up in the room".

When is the Black Community finally going to address the "culture of violence" in the black community?

Most of you are probably unaware, since it's been sidestepped in the "mainstream media", but last weekend there were some pretty out of control "flash" riots in Milwaukee at the Wisconsin state fair. (Flash Riots are usually coordinated using cell phones with little prior planning) Flash mobs of black were actively going after whites, pulling them from vehicles, knocking over bicyclists and assaulting pedestrians.  In Chicago, flash mobs of blacks have trashed drugstores downtown, the city had to close several beaches and there's been many instances cited throughout the country, http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/08/the_taboo_on_mentioning_black_mob_violence.html
but the mainstream media won't touch the topic.
Today, my wife and I went into a local eatery in North Augusta. Upon entering, there were at least 12 black males in the restaurant.  The noise they were creating was beyond what any reasonable person could imagine.  They were standing on the seats, sitting on the tables and basically conducting themselves like they were on a basketball court.  The manager approached my wife and I and asked, "are they too loud or basically irritating?"  I told him "absolutely, we're about to leave".  At that time he asked the young men to leave, the manager later told me, he couldn't do anything until a "customer" said something.
Here's my point, where is the adult role models and leaders in the black community?  I see little or no parental involvement to the point of "demonstrating and teaching" what is appropriate behavior in public.  The loudness and rudeness only leads to a behavior that continues a downward spiral where many in the black community "hold society hostage" by their uncontrolled behavior by either "the threat of violence" or the implied threat of being called a racist for calling them on their unsatisfactory "culture."  Look, I know there's exceptions on both sides of the "color line"....my takeaway isn't so much the individual, it's the culture which perpetuates the widespread lack of accountability, and the lack of willingness to "set and enforce" margins, which left unabated, encourages mob mentality fostered by the willful ignorance of the black adults, parents, leaders and role models.
Yes, I am a white guy, but I worked with lots of black military people, once you get the "black culture" crap out of their system, they're as good as ANYONE.  Where black "leaders" (hear me Crenshaw, Bibbs, Cooks...and all the Black liberation/activists churches in the area) are selling black youths short (e.g in pursuit of jobs and careers) is they send them the message that to conform with societal norms (e.g. trousers that fit, No "grill work"  on their teeth and their "hip hop" behavior) is to be an oreo, or Uncle Tom.  Why in heaven's name would any responsible business want to hire someone looking or acting like that?  I'll tell ya, that probably has more to do with the unemployment gap between whites and blacks more than anything else.

BTW...if you don't think there's a black flash mob problem in South Carolina, the above article referenced the beating a white college student, Carter Strange, took at the hands of black youths in 5 points in Columbia last June...the article was cowardly in that it didn't mention the race of the perps...but they were black.  http://www.wltx.com/news/article/141860/2/All-I-Could-Think-About-Was-What-If-I-Wouldnt-Have-Made-It So, my question, when do we get to hold black leaders and role models accountable for the black culture they're putting on their kids?

Why I'm Depressed

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."

Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."

Today, Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, the Tashkil, etc . . . I called a Suicide Hotline.
I had to press 1 for English.

I was connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck......

Editor's post: Here we go, a week of the left blaming the TEA Party for the downgrade when they were the ones offering the only real solution. That is until Sunday morning. Now it's that pesky Constitution - I quote ABC's Cokie Roberts on "This Week":

"This group of people in New York (Standard & Poor’s) is actually talking about more government rather than less government, Congressman. In fact, the reason they like France and Great Britain is because they’re parliamentary systems where the majority gets what it wants no matter what. And the problem that we have here is the Constitution of the United States of America which actually does require people to come together from different perspectives whether it's divided government or not. We have divided branches of government under any circumstance."

Are you kidding me? You just can't make this stuff up. Yet the left is calling the TEA Party nut jobs, radicals, and delusional? The S&P flat out said it was the growth of government and the spending that was the main problem. The "brinkmanship" was a small part and the ones playing politics with the debt was the Democrats who shot down every plan until the last minute. But the Republicans are the "party of no deal"?

Downgrading is here!  What a surprise. Just wait until our country will not be able to borrow anymore. That is the next thing that could happen. How long do these people in Washington think we can continue living in a dream world? The scary thing is that we are on a downward spiral and it may get a whole lot worse.

I have a question-if our whole economy fails, will welfare people get their checks? Will Medicaid be in place for folks? Some of you who live on this type of support and voted for this President may want to think about that.  There may be no money in the coffers to take care of the "needy" anymore. Wouldn't that be something? Believe it or not, there could be an end to the easy life.

The one good thing, if there is a good thing, is that this downgrade came on Obama's watch. By the way he was partying at the time.  I don't think that will be forgotten. Tim Geitner, Obama's treasury guy, actually said a downgrade would never happen. What a smart guy-kind of like the rest of this administration.

Could someone shed some light on the hundreds of dump trucks that are constantly going up and down Martintown Road, Mon-Fri?  It appears they are getting off I-20 on Exit 1 and heading north, ducking onto Old Martintown Road, dumping loads of dirt, and then heading back to I-20.  This has been going on for weeks, and it sure does make a mess of Martintown Road.

Editor's note: I checked into this weeks ago and was told that they are dumping the dirt on a property that the owner was trying to level. I was told that it was going to be ending shortly. That was then. There must be a bottomless pit with the constant flow of dump trucks. SCDOT should be watching the area due to the mud that is being left on the road each time it rains.

There are only 5, count them, 5 streets here and it is not getting done.

I can’t believe that this town cannot find the funds to either get a new or used truck. Where does my money go, to the chipper truck that circles the block 3 times, then backs into my driveway and run over my bushes, or the leaf truck that circles the block twice and still does not pick up everything, both being followed by an oversize pick up that must suck a lot of gas.

Do you have a clue what gets done in this town besides putting up American flags and  you shaking hands every Thursday at the so called Farmers Market? You should ride around, and not in your golf cart, and check out the progress that is not being made.

I’m told I should go to the council meetings with this, but by putting it here, I am hoping more people will see this and be just as mad as I am! You are doing a lousy job!!

There are a lot of personnel issues very wrong in Edgefield county. First of all, the school board can not get rid of all our problems with the wave of a magic wand. Thanks to Bro Bibbs, the Jackass-son Sisters, Sister Clankscales, Sister Crooks and other Obama supporters, we have a big mess to clean up and that will take time. Someone needs to form an action group to begin the legislative process to clean up some of this mess. Action must be accomplished through Senator Massey or higher. Second, the people who keep electing Norman Dorn are people who probably can't read, are in and out of jail, can't think beyond the next welfare check and so on. In other words, people none of us would allow through our front door. That is a sad situation. Third, why is it we have a tax assessor who doesn't live in the county where she works? And why is it we have a tax assessor who does not have all the necessary licensing for their job? If you look closely at our problems, you will see a common thread.....most of our counties problems are directly associated with Obama supporters, the NAACP, and the Democratic party.

If you have pictures to show that the structure is not in as good a shape as they claim, then take them with you during your appeal. I appealed the assessment of my home, and I went to the meeting with evidence, and it was reduced. Being confrontational will not help you in the least. If economic conditions remain as they are, and prices paid for houses stay low, then in 5 years your assessment should go down."

What if you don't have any evidence?  I have scoured my home video security system and I have not found where the assessor stepped one foot on my property.  So how can they do the walk around?  It was the same thing the last go around-they never came onto my property, they stopped at the road at the end of the driveway.  When I called and appealed, they sent another person down, and although I can not recall his name, I do recall he was African American, young, well spoken and polite.  He walked the property with me and stated he didn't understand how they assessed the property from the road.  My assessment was corrected.

And why do we have to travel this road every assessment time?  The first time I went through this was in the early 90's and that assessment was way out of line.  We formed the Edgefield County Taxpayers Association and started digging.  (I beleive I still have the file, Ill dig it out) We found that Bettis and Kneece was in on it , and they were manipulating the system, e.g., Bettis' and Kneece's properties were going down or no higher than 19% rise, but others were going up 400%.  With the public outcry and the exposure of this and the fact that, I think her name was Sally Fox was not qualified, things were rolled back.

In my opinion, if they are ghost writing these assessments, they should be charged with fraud, and the assessment property redone.  And again, why are we taxpayers paying for the assessment process time and time again, and having it always end in a debacle of which we have to pay to have re-done?

So much for "transparency" in our new majority. The fact is Edgefield Daily has the inside track. Let's see how far they will go to hide the truth before it is exposed. They know we know.
web posted August 5, 2011

Here's a possible solution.  First, if the school bard doesn't get rid of Schilit based on his, well, a , remember the Ted Kennedy song; and if they don't get rid of Crenshaw for being an enabler, then WE THE PEOPLE, need to take the bull by the horns and do it ourselves.

First, we must all get together and flood Shane Massey's office and email with complaints.  Even a flood of personal visits would do nicely, and I'll drive!

Second, if Sen. Massey doesn't get the message, we go to the next level-Governor Nikki Haley's office.  Flood it with emails and phone calls, and yup, even personal visits-and again I'll drive!

Next media flood, locally and nationally.

Then we need to look into Warrenton (?), GA and see what process they had to go through to get the Governor of Georgia to remove the entire school board because they were not able to get their schools certified because the board and members of the district were following a personal agenda and not policy.

Next, we need to start it right here, right now, in Edgefield, SC and scream the loudest we can to have legislation put forth and passed to allow recalls.  WE NEED the ability to get rid of these clowns when they don't toe the line of the people. PERIOD!

Why are we taxpayers paying taxes to have these people seated to do the work of the people for the people, when in the end we have to do all the %$#@ work?  Hmm. 7 x 300 = 2100/month board pay +/- ($25K/year not counting incidentals, emergency meetings, etc); Crenshaw $130K/year (again not counting incidentals, travel, etc.) Clinkscales ($84K/year), Assist Super ($100K/year), Schilit ($75K/year-just a guess, but you get the drift) that's a savings of $400-500K/year, how many good teachers and new computers is that?  Oh, and let's not forget Courtney and his little deal. If we looked hard we could probably get $500K out of him and his operation alone)

That's a half to 3/4s of a million dollars a year over the course of the next 5 years=$2.5 million, isn't that what our shortfall is?

Re: Why should WE the taxpayer have to pay the salary for a Tax Assessor who really is not qualified for the position and who continually over appraises properties during a horrible economic conditions.

Property appraisals for taxing purposes require more information than just a snapshot of the current economic conditions. The appraisal covers the last 5 years of data and transactions. The software package used by the Edgefield County assessors office is the same used in many counties in SC. It has certain parameters such as sq ft, materials used in the construction of the house (brick, wood ext, etc), age of the house, any additions made to the house since the last assessment. The person doing the appraisal walks around the house to verify the paramters and to assess the general condition of the structure. Also, they take into account the prices paid for other houses in your area (or subdivision) for the last 5 years. In 2006 and 2007, housing prices were bloated, from the housing bubble. If you look at the Case Schiiler index for the last 5 years, you will see that it reached a peak in 2007/2008. If you average it over these 5 years, there was actually a slight appreciation of housing values over the last 5 years in SC. Zillow will show the same information but it actually uses prices and not an index. I am not defending the EC Assessor's office, but in reading complaints in WM, it is clear that many do not understand the process that is used by every county in SC. If you want to appeal, then have evidence that refutes their findings. If you have pictures to show that the structure is not in as good a shape as they claim, then take them with you during your appeal. I appealed the assessment of my home, and I went to the meeting with evidence, and it was reduced. Being confrontational will not help you in the least. If economic conditions remain as they are, and prices paid for houses stay low, then in 5 years your assessment should go down.

Ah....great question, sometimes the answer lies in how the question is asked.  My response...

SOCIAL PROMOTION is why "Little Matt" still has his job.  We couldn't let little Matt fall behind his peers, after all this is Edgefield County Schools and we adhere to "No Child Left Behind", it just wouldn't be fair to let "Little Matt" (and I do mean that Literally, not figuratively) fall behind his peers.  But Remember what Dr Crenshaw stated in her comments on the PASS results, "we're making great strides"....and "it only takes a failure in one area not to achieve AYP."  Ya listening school board?....I'm always suspicious of someone who's first remarks are that of an excuse.  While I do agree with the Superintendan'ts observation, I would contend that her first remark should've been something like, "Clearly we still have our work cut out for us, we'll sit down with all faculty and staff, review the results and see where we need to make corrections both in faculty and curriculum."  You see, a true professional looks in the mirror first....and doesn't blame the exam or process, regardless of how unfair you think it is.  Final note, notice how poorly STHS did on AYP....perhaps the Principal was too busy engaging in ....well, whatever the heck principal was doing!  THAN DOING HIS JOB.  Get that school board?  Now doesn't the public have a valid interest in WHAT THE PRINCIPAL WAS DOING?  STHS made what...7 out of 19 areas as passing....less than half!?  My question, what the heck has the Superintendent and the school board been doing!?  Who's accountable for keeping track of "little Matt's" behavior....oh, yes, I forgot, we're in the public school system..."It's the Parent's fault."   We need to get hold of "Little Matt's" parents ASAP.

If I could sell my house for how much the highly competent tax assessor has appraised it, I would do so immediately. If any of you have ever dealt with the tax assessor, you will be dealing with someone who has limited people skills.
Yes...I know we have to pay taxes...but why does our property go up in value to an extent of being ridiculous? That is because the person who occupies the position of tax assessor should never, ever, ever been hired to begin with.
I suggest our country council (excluding Mr. Dorn & Mr. Bright) check this persons credentials for this position and determine JUST how unqualified she is to how such position. And, then the question will be answered as to why such an INCOMPETENT appraisal system has befallen our county. I suggest all persons who have ridiclous property APPRAISALS contact your county council-person (excluding Mr. Dorn & Mr. "I'M Not So Bright' Bright) to get this insane appraisal system reviewed. Why should WE the taxpayer have to pay the salary for a Tax Assessor who really is not qualified for the position and who continually over appraises properties during a horrible economic conditions. Sounds like something an Obama supporter would do?  Make your phone calls NOW to one of the three Council Members who can mentally understand and articulate the PROBLEM. Please post their phone
numbers Mr. Editor so those calls can begin right now. This personnel problem needs to be rectified and not overlooked as it has been for years.

Editor's note: Show up at meetings, file complaints, and make your objections known at the county level.

Mr. Editor, I think you lost Mr. Dorn in math once you passed 1+1. I sat in his science class and the only thing I ever heard was how stupid white people were and how much money he had. He would cuss us and was a joke and still is. How he is getting elected is astounding to me.

Editor's note: Norman Dorn is irrelevant. His votes don't matter, his opinions don't matter, his insults don't matter. He's just a bothersome little gnat.

Oh Lord my mind is wandering. And dizzy. And hurting.  It was soooooo painful watching the "Norman Dorn Show".  I really couldn't even finish it.  Amazing, simply amazing.

And the black population wants to know why people think of them the way they do?  Putting people like Dorn, Bibbs, Cook, Bright, and the Bamster up as representatives for them is probably not the best they could do?

And what Congressman from Georgia asked a General if putting too many more Marines on the island of Guam would possibly make the island tip over?

And what Congresswoman asked the folks at NASA to steer the mars rover over to see the flag the Astronauts had planted?

Wow!  And you want us to believe it's not based on pure color?  And really, what has the colorful vote done for you.  You're still in chains.  Chains of the governemnt because they did get you free housing, or almost free, they got you food stamps, they got you a check, and the got you a good edumacation.  Yup they got you ebbyting, and where are you?

Throughout all the debt drama in Washington, one piece of President Obama's schedule stood unshaken - a massive fundraising blowout to celebrate his 50th birthday.

Obama gave up golf for a month and scrubbed some summertime family fun so he could meet with congressional leaders and generally look concerned, but the star-studded events in Chicago never budged. The Obama campaign had too much riding on them.

Aside from having Herbie Hancock, Jennifer Hudson and, one would assume, presidential patroness Oprah Winfrey queued up for big-dollar dinners, concerts and cocktails, the president’s political team had made this event the kind of multi-platform, participant-saturation, Twitter fed event that it is famous for.

Peggy Noonan touched off a bit of a firestorm last week when she wrote in the Wall Street Journal that “nobody loves Obama.” And while Democrats pushed back, saying that many still loved their beleaguered, even some of his staunchest supporters admit something has changed between the president and the populace.  Could it be they are getting to know him?  Uh......Yeah.

It’s not just the liberal outrage over the debt-ceiling deal reached this week – though that is deepening – but the worst case yet of Obama fatigue. The ailment has beset the nation several times since the president’s meteoric rise began, and each relapse has been more severe than the last.

Not only is he overexposed (all presidents become that), but Obama also seems to be overwhelmed. He is forever emitting word clouds, but the direction of the country and the government seems to clatter along unaffected. Americans lose patience with their presidents even more quickly if they think their words aren’t consequential.

Charley Reese's last article for the Orlando Sentinel. A good short read about the current situation our great Country is in. It only takes about 550 men to screw it all up and they continue to do a wonderful job of doing just that!!

Editor's post: Comments to the Wandering Minds have been limited tonight due to the county council meeting running late. Of course, do not miss out on the recording of the Norman Dorn Show, proving his admitted ignorance of "math". For Mr. Dorn's benefit in math; 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 1+3=4. We will stop there. We don't want to over-tax his very small brain. He might have a stroke.

And this is a retired "educator" in the Edgefield County School District?

I have only one question. Why does (former STH Principal) Schilit have a job?

Editor's note: That is a question you should ask the School Board at their next meeting on August 9. Edgefield Daily will be there to cover the meeting.

I don't know if I should be happy or mad. The county says our house is worth 3x what it is worth. I wish I could sell it for the assessed value. It's been on the market for 4 years at half the price. Who (removed) came uo with that? Who's in charge here?

Editor's note: You have 90 days to file a challenge with the Assessor's Office. The next step is the appeals board and then the court system. If you have a problem getting info from the Assessors Office, direct those concerns to the county administrator.

Dear Johnston Postmaster:

If you read my post the other day, you would have seen a way to save some money by eliminating the bar code stickers on the bottom of the mail boxes and putting them on the inside of the door. But I have a better way to save money. Either get rid of the scanners you use, or get rid of incompetent people that deliver the mail. It seems every day I get mail for my neighbor even though the mail carrier scans the box and the pieces of mail. Why?? Is this person so bad, they still can’t read an address or is it for show that they are using broken scanners? Instead of sitting in your golden chair every day, why not take a ride or follow them to see how well? they are doing. I am only talking about the mail delivered in the city. It’s really getting bad.

Does anyone else have this problem, and are these bar code stickers used any where else but Johnston?

We bought our house in 2008 at $75,000. We got and assessment of $105,000. The market tanked in 2009. Can somebody explain how it went up when we owe more than the house is worth now?
web posted August 3, 2011

Has anyone heard of the President's Home Affordable Program? I guess if you owe less than $729,000.00 on your home you can qualify for up to $12,000.00 in savings a year. The ad I read said it would help you pay off your home sooner. Hmmm...let me see if I understand this correctly. I could owe $728,999.99 on my home (nice home I would guess) and I could possibly get help from the government to pay off my home sooner. What is wrong with this picture? No wonder we have a debt problem. If someone has a loan on a home, they should be responsible to pay for it even if they have to fulfill the time of the loan.  Why should I help them pay it off sooner? It would nice if everyone could pay off their homes early but I am not sure it is my responsibility to help them do that. I take care of my own bills. I wish everyone would take care of themselves.

Isn't it just great to see our tax dollars at work? I am so glad we have a President who talks (and talks!) about his desire to get spending down. Ha! What a joke. Actions speak louder (and his are screaming) than words.

PS  It was nice to see that Congresswoman Gifford is doing well but the liberals will stoop to anything to get their way. So ridiculous!!!

The over-ripe liberal tirade against those who disagree with them always makes for good comedic fare. That is, when it hasn't become trite, repetitive and boringly stupid. But, God love 'em, they keep at it!

The Democrats are parasites. I know that is a very derogatory way to talk about other people, but I think it is new way to describe people you don't agree with. As I am thinking about it, I realize that "parasite" is a very hurtful term and is really uncalled for. It makes me look immature to use that word to describe other people. I have decided to "take the high road" and I sincerely apologize for using it in reference to the Democrats.

Even if I thought the Democrats were taking advantage of me financially, they are entitled to their opinions. Maybe the only voice they have is through their pocketbooks. It is hard for people to think anyone might have a valid opinion that varies from their own. Maybe, rather than name calling, folks could look beyond their own ego and see that they are not always 100% correct. There are always two sides to a disagreement and name calling is what you hear from children on a playground.

Most folks will not understand sarcastic point of this post but I think a lot of you will. I guess you had to be there.

Editor's note: If they can call conservative members of Congress "terrorists" (a name they will not use to refer to real terrorists) I think your term is polite.

I think the situation at STHS is just one more thing the new board will clean up with the support of  the people. It didn't get this way overnight and will not be solved overnight.I agree with the post about David Mathis. He would've made a great Superintendant for us. The whole district could use an overhaul. At every level there are people that complain about being underpaid, when they spend more time wasting time than working and of course there are those that take up their slack and making the same or less money.

A plane crashed in the middle of rural Tennessee .

Panic stricken, the local sheriff mobilized and descended on the farm in force.  When they got there, the disaster was clear. The  aircraft was totally destroyed with only a burned hulk left smoldering in a tree line that bordered a farm. The sheriff and his men entered the smoking mess but could find no remains of anyone. They spotted a lone farmer plowing a field not too far away as if nothing had happened. They hurried over to the man's tractor.

"Hank," the sheriff yelled, panting and out of breath. "Did you see this terrible accident happen?".

"Yep. Sure did." the farmer mumbled unconcernedly, cutting off the tractor's engine.

"Do you realize that is the airplane of the President of the United States ?"
"Yep."

"Were there any survivors?"

"Nope. They's all kilt straight out," the farmer answered. "I done buried them all myself.  Took me most of the morning.."

"President Obama is dead?" the sheriff shouted.

"Well," the farmer grumbled, restarting his tractor. "He kept a-saying he wasn't.... But you know how he lies."

RE: "Thank you to the poster that suggested asking any student at Strom Thurmond......"

You're welcome.  You know, the common excuse is "to not listen to the gossip", but in gossip, there does emerge some truth.  After all, you'd have to have a helluva an imagination to make some of this stuff up.  Moreover, there were just too many people that had different accounts but with a common thread, therefore, truth was a common denominator.  Intelligent and logical people can sort the wheat from the chaff.  The main problem is, people like Schilit, Bibbs, Cooks, Crenshaw, Clinkscales, Dorn, Bright, think they are smarter than everyone else in the room.  Yea, Crenshaw has a Phd, but we know what that really means-Piled Higher and Deeper.  It will come back around-look at the Bamster.

and

RE: "You folks who are mad at the school board need to look at the bright side of things. First, there is no cocaine Jackson sitting on the board, second the Jackass-son sisters are gone and third we still have Bro Bibbs and Sister Sallie to laugh at."

I really don't think you can hand that credit to the School Board.  The credit goes to the citizenry.  And if Bro Bibbs is smart, he'll duck on out before he.............  It's going to break soon.  I love me some Bibbs and I always love me some of whoever thinks they are getting away with it.  He thinks he's been flying under the radar, but things take a while.

About 6 months ago, the Obummer Administration started talking about "investing" for our future (i.e. "spending"), and now in the debt talks they refer to "revenue enhancements" (i.e. "more taxes").  If they spent as much time on the economy as they do on trying to pull the wool over our eyes we wouldn't be in the mess we're in right now.  Vote him out in 2012!!

Re: Editor, please tell this person that raising the debt limit allows the government to pay for things in which it already spent money...

Of course we need to pay our bills! We have never defaulted on our debts.  We just don't need to accumulate more debt. (You do know who we owe money to, correct?) The point is not whether to raise the debt limit or not. The point is to have enough cuts and control in the plan to begin eliminating the debt. We cannot spend more!!! Our credit rating is probably going to be cut because we have not, and are not, showing responsibility with our financial situation.  It is extremely hard to earn back that top credit rating. That would hurt all of us for a very long time.

If Obama had his way, he would raise the debt ceiling without any cuts or controls. Remember, he still might invoke the 14th amendment or make an "executive" decision in this matter. I don't think he cares whether it would be legal or not. (Just a side note- he knows that it probably is not legal because he had his lawyers look into it and he has not pursued doing it yet). He may wait for the real "crisis". After all, he knows not to let a good crisis go to waste.

Obama asked for a "clean" rise in the debt ceiling (which is basically the only plan he has presented) That would simply be raising the debt limit with no cuts. It would be a blank check for him to continue to just rack up more debt.  He does not care about the financial stability of this country or he would not even consider asking for that.

A more important issue is to keep Obama a one term President. That is the most crucial issue these days. If we do not elect someone else in 2012, raising the debt ceiling will be the least of our concerns.

By the way, posters don't take their cues from the Editor. They may agree with him at times but posters speak for themselves based on their own convictions. It is OK to address a poster directly without asking the Editor to tell them something.
