What’s the BIG deal about having the Pep Rallies? When I was at STHS, we had a Pep Rally each Friday in the gym!!! The gym was large enough then to accommodate the students, why isn’t it now? We had more students when I was in high school than they have now! It makes no sense to me for these kids NOT to have a Pep Rally during football season each Friday!!!!!! So what if it takes away 45 minutes of class time. They are already taking away from class time with the useless REBEL RECON!!!!!
web posted September 29, 2012

1.       Obviously there is not good supervision at the pep rallys if it has become such a problem.
2.       I think it is unfair to the good students to have to pay to attend pep rallys.  Even the bad
students can attend and still disrupt for the sum of 75 cents. Instead, if a student is caught
acting up, they get one written warning.  The second time start charging them $3.00 to attend the pep rally each time for the rest of the year.  They probably won’t attend.  If they still attend and disrupt again, the charge goes up to $5.00 to attend.  If it costs them enough, maybe they will stop attending.  This way the good students are not penalized. Question:  Where do the students go who do not attend pep rallys and are they supervised????

Who gives a [removed] about some stupid pep rally? We have to get racist Norman Dorn off the county council!!!!!! Gee wizz people! Pay attention to what matters! Who cares? Vote Dorn out! He's gotta go once and for all. He's just like Obama, lie, lie, lie, pimp race, call people names, ignore his sorry [removed] record. For God's sake wake up!

I have quite a dilemma to figure out. I need a new phone but it is hard to justify the cost of some of these phones. If I get the one that will best serves my needs, I may not have a lot of extra money left over to help pay for Obama phones. I would just hate to not provide someone with a new phone, especially if that new phone motivates them to vote for Obama.

If you are a Drudge Report reader, don't miss the one on the Obama phones today. It is amazing and actually hard to believe that someone is as dumb as this woman appears to be.
I sat here trying to figure out why she is so angry. She has all the handouts. What more could she possible want? Oh yes, she wants four more years of this debacle- after all she will need a new phone within the next four years, right? It is so nice to know that those of us who work hard can be sharing our "wealth" with these kinds of people.

No wonder this country is in the mess it is in. Heaven help us all!!!

As soon as they offer them "For Sale" they are, IMHO, professional breeders.  "Free To Good Home" would surely relieve them of the additional four-legged mouths to feed.  Not to mention they are irresponsible for not having their pets spayed and neutered.  But also, "Licensing" is not going to stop the illegal puppy mill.

Don't believe the polls on the Presidential race. I heard two reasons why these skewed numbers are suppose to help the President. It would be easier to claim voter fraud if Romney were to win when the President has high poll numbers. Also, they are trying to discourage the base. I just have to keep thinking about the turn out at Chick Fil A. I know the base is there and we have to keep motivated.  If the other side thinks it is in the bag, hopefully they won't see the need to go to the polls.

Also, real voter fraud almost happened in WI. Our servicemen and women were given the wrong date to get their votes in (they were given a date past the deadline). It was discovered and corrected (thank you conservatives) so it shouldn't be an issue. Hopefully their mail will get there in time!!! After all, a lot of people in the service vote Republican. Gee I wonder how a mistake like this almost happened????

It is so nice to sit here in my jammies and drink coffee while I write to wandering minds. I too worked, retired and now have a little time (that I earned) to actually follow much of what is going on in the world. Maybe that is why seniors seem to be pretty informed of what is going on. We have also lived long lives and just might have some wisdom about what actually works in this country. We just can't let the lies and scare tactics take hold.  Gray power!!!!

RE: "What's the big deal about charging students to attend a pep rally at STHS? This is a simple way to raise money for much needed supplies for the school while at the same time assuring that only students who really want to be there attend."

Typical liberal response.  Always devising ways to put your hand in the wage earners pocket!  And always when the economy is tough on a lot of families.  If the schools didn't waste money on stupid stuff, they would have the supplies needed.  It's a school pep rally!  Intent - to instill camaraderie, esprit de corps, and a sense of pride in one's school and teams.  Everyone should attend - period.

That's what's wrong with this country, we give people a way out especially when it comes to showing pride in one's nation, one's beliefs, one's culture.  This is exactly what is wrong with the black culture.  It's not the racism that RACE BAITERS like BIBBS, COOKS, REVERAND NAACP, DORN, BRIGHT, and let's not forget the diamond in the rough, COCAINE JACKSON, pedal.  It's always giving someone an excuse not to do something.  The black community has a real good opportunity to start reversing that trend- VOTE OUT BIBBS and DUFUS, oops, DORN!

We need to start rebuilding pride in America!  And we need to start getting, and keeping, people's hands out of our pockets!

This $3 charge won't last long.  GUARANTEED!

RE: If she [Abel] was going to be just fined why wasn’t the cost of all the agencies coming down here with all their rigs and the medical care that had to be given to the animals considered?

Good question! I am hoping that HSUS and PetSmart charities (which are bearing the cost of the raid, the vetting and the boarding of the animals) SUE Callie Abel in civil court (just like Nicole Simpson's
family sued OJ Simpson in civil court after he got off the murder charges) . If you cant put em behind bars, at least hurt them in the pocketbook.

In addition this entire situation shows the need for stronger animal protection laws, making animal cruelty a felony (not a misdemeanor) and licensing breeders would be a start in the right direction.

Editor's note: I agree, but where do you draw the line between a "breeder" and someone who owns several hunting dogs that has a few litters a year that they offer for sale? Or, for that matter, someone who has a pair of dogs who may have a litter of 6 to 12 at a time? Perhaps it should be more of a revision of the laws on what "animal cruelty" is opposed to "ill treatment of animals".

One thing that disturbs me...As I sit here and check my Food Stamp balance on my Obamaphone...Is the way that we"ve all been set up for a class battle by the Washington power groups...

This has less to do with how much we spend on the poor than how much we lavish on inefficient economic sectors...from higher education to health care..and all those entitlements for people who really don't need them...well-off retirees and homeowners...Social Security and tax reductions for the wealthy retirees and mortgage deductions for the 30% of the taxpayers that actually itemize...not to mention all the business deductions...to send jobs overseas...

It's sort of like that big movie last year..."The Hunger Games" in which teenagers from different parts of the country are forced to fight to the death...Not much difference here...and yes, for many of us IT IS a fight to the death...When medicines are cut and access to quality care is curtailed...While we debate whether people making over $250,000 get a tax cut...When will this madness end ?

Yes, Obama's made mistakes...shoving more and more borrowed money into programs that are flawed ...But, Romney and the Republicans can't come up with anything more than demonizing  the 47%...

We're running these big deficits...not because we're letting poor people get away with anything but maybe...because too many powerful groups, on both the left and the right, have a big stake in making sure this big, big party doesn't stop...

Think about this when these politicians...on either side...Attempt to hoodwink you with a bunch of rhetoric about how evil so-and-so is...Be sure and check THEIR back pocket...

Now, where's the free beer???

ST charging for a Pep Rally is ridiculous.  Pep rally’s are supposed to be fun and full of excitement and energy. Even when I was in school there were those students that tried to cause problems and become to rowdy, but they were warned the 1st time and if the problem continued they were escorted out and disciplined to a week in the “hole” (in school suspension). Deal with the individual students and allow the other students to embrace their team spirit!  If you have issues with students and their behavior in class what do you do with them?  This is no different you remove the problem, issue discipline and move on.  As adult’s you are to take charge and correct the problem.

The schools systems ask for money all the time and I don’t mind doing my part, but to charge for a Pep rally is a bit much.  Due to the economy families are doing all they can to provide the necessary items needed for themselves and now you want to charge $3 for a Pep rally.  If your goal is to get rid of the Pep rally then just stop having them.  I think not having them is really sad, because I have great memories of our past Pep rally’s.  All of my friends getting pumped up for the football games and the fun of watching the Football players dress up like cheerleaders for the homecoming game; etc. Take charge and get rid of your problem students, but don’t punish all students for the few that are issues.

As for the use of the monies to purchase items for teachers that is good, but a sad way to get funds. Has the school system reached out to some of the industries across the county to see if they would be willing to donate these items or provide a monetary donation or maybe adopt the school to assist with these much needed items?  Just a thought..

Re: editor's post: "It is rare that a judge departs from a plea all parties signed off on. I disagree with most plea deals worked out be it in Magistrate Court or General Sessions Court, but that is irrelevant. I'm not a judge."

The judge does not have to accept the plea offered by the state or the defendant prior to sentencing and Judge Carpenter could have sent this woman to jail for the better part of a year. I know that you know that and I don't know why you are trying to cover for Carpenter.

Editor's note: I don't think anything I have said was an attempt to "cover" for Chief Magistrate Carpenter. I have stated I strongly disagreed with the sentence and the fine and that I am against plea deals to move a case along just for the sake of getting it off the books. Judge Carpenter was presented with an agreement reached by all parties and she went with that, it is standard operating procedure. I disagree with that as well, but that is the system and I can only report the facts.

She could have throw that out, but, let's face facts, judges don't do that as often as they shouls in my opinion. And that is all it is, just my opinion.

Charging students $3.00 to attend a pep-rally that will only last 30 minutes is the craziest thing I have ever heard of. I wouldn’t like it, but I would almost be ok with my child paying $1.00 to attend a pep-rally, but not $3.00 for the few minutes. Come on people, find a way to make this work for all the students so everyone can participate – if it means moving the pep-rally outside to the football stadium.

Think about the kids here!!
web posted September 28, 2012

RE: “What's the big deal about charging students to attend a pep rally at STHS?”

The big deal is that many families in Edgefield may find $3.00 a week (and that’s if you only have 1 child in high school) a bit of a hardship. With having to supply children notebooks, backpacks, pens, paper, calculators, and who knows what else, the school district just keeps piling it on those who may not be able to afford more. I remember when my children went to STHS and what was required of me and my wife to have to supply them. We had three children at STHS at one time and it was somewhat overwhelming for us. We both pulled down a fairly decent income and we were hard pressed to come up with the money back then. Also, who determines where and how this money is spent? One writer stated that this decision was made to control discipline problems. Really, this is the answer our educators came up with to control discipline? Make the innocent pay to keep out the guilty. Whatever happened to the concept of making those who refuse to follow the rules pay the consequences for their action? I am one happy man for not having children in the Edgefield County school system. I have watched for years our school system go steadily downhill. But I will admit this problem is not only in Edgefield, but country wide. Our educators and administrators are losing control and I believe it is tied directly to the liberal morals that are infecting our country. The days of parents taking responsibility for raising respectful children, for people having to accept the consequences for their actions, for teaching our children right from wrong and making them pay when they make the wrong decision, for schools not tolerating those actions that disrupt the learning process, seem to be in the past. Today parents, educators and administrators seem afraid to discipline these children. Instead they come up with the ingenious plan to make those who follow the rules pay for those who refuse to. What really drives my point home are the posts by those individuals who don’t see anything wrong with this thought process. It just reinforces to me that good common sense is a thing of the past. I guess I’m just an old dinosaur who remembers a time of strong discipline for children, who learned at a young age, to respect the rules of society. I’m the dinosaur whose children, who are now in their late twenties, still say, “yes sir and no sir”. Who have learned a strong work ethic, Who have and sometimes continue to make bad decisions, but have to pay the price for those decisions. I love my children and do not enjoy seeing them suffer in anyway. But I do not jump in and bail them out when they get out of line. They have learned that there are consequences for their actions, both good and bad. If these kids want to disrupt a pep rally with unacceptable behavior, make them pay for that behavior. Teach them that, if they want to act a certain way, there is a price to be paid. On the other side teach those kids, who know how to act properly, that they will be rewarded for good behavior. Is this really a difficult concept? REALLY?

RE: Black Muslim president

What is the matter with this picture?!?!?

First we have DearLeader endorsing & pushing the gay agenda.

And now Madonna, in her potty-mouth fashion, states that he is a “Black Muslim”, and praised him for his support of the gays.

Say what?!?!!  How can one endorse the gay lifestyle & at the same time be a true Muslim???   Didn’t think the Koran approved that lifestyle. That combo sure doesn’t work very well in Iraq.  According to a recent report by BBC in UK, (“Witch Hunt in Iraq” by a Becca Heller) Iraq has been targeting the gay community and systemically killing them.

So how does DearLeader reconcile mixing 2 polar opposite stands?

Coil of Rage

When you've read to the end, come back and read this first paragraph again.

A Coil of Rage

The character of any man is defined by how he treats his mother as the years pass .... need I say more about this person below other than there is no character, no integrity but there is a ton of attitude and arrogance that defines his shallow past and hollow future..... I rest my case..

I bought and read Obama's book, Audacity of Hope. It was difficult to read considering his attitude toward us and everything American. Let me add a phrase he used to describe his attitude toward whites. He harbors a

"COIL OF RAGE". His words, not mine.

THIS IS OUR PRESIDENT -- HE'S RUNNING AGAIN, YOU KNOW!  Is anyone out there awake?

Everyone of voting age should read these two books by him: Don't buy them, just get them from the library.

From Dreams From My Father:

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From Dreams From My Father :

"I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

From Dreams From My Father:

"There was something about her that made me wary, a little too sure of herself, maybe and white."

From Dreams From My Father:

"It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From Dreams From My Father:

"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the blackman, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself: the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

And FINALLY ............... and most scary:

From Audacity of Hope:

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

I don't care whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, a Conservative or a liberal, be aware of the attitude and character of this sitting President.

If he is re-elected, remember the above and realize that, as a second-term president he will no longer have to please anybody and he will be wielding the EXECUTIVE ORDER!

Editor's post: I spoke with Chief Magistrate Brenda Carpenter on Wednesday, and in her defense, she agreed to the plea that was worked out between the Sheriff's Office, Abel's lawyer, and the HSUS. It is rare that a judge departs from a plea all parties signed off on. I disagree with most plea deals worked out be it in Magistrate Court or General Sessions Court, but that is irrelevant. I'm not a judge.

There were no felony charges brought and Abel was not charged for operating a puppy mill. Whether or not that will change in the future (which I doubt) has nothing to do with the charges Able faced in Magistrate court on warrants issued prior to the raid - they were used to obtain the search warrant for the raid.

I still think that stiffer penalties should have come from this, and they may still, but if Abel does not complete her part of the plea within 60 days, she could face up to 210 days in jail. So there is hope.

Editor's note: I remember every Friday (1976-1980) school letting out a half hour early and everyone went to the gym for the pep rally. Everybody got fired up and were at the game that night - home or away. This is a school function and charging for it is questionable at best.

Charging for a pep rally? What's next? Charging to attend a school board meeting?
web posted September 27, 2012

The students do pay for the pep rally.  Reason being: they were going to do away with the pep rallies all together because of discipline. Students would misbehave at them.  So instead of canceling them all together they took a suggestion from some of the teachers & students to charge for it because those who didn't want to be there anyways (& potentially cause problems) would not pay to come. This allows for a safer, more enjoyable environment. The money, which is very little goes to new technology for the school (ST only).  For example, they bought several teachers new projectors for their classrooms this past week with this very small pot of $.
Remember, ST is a good, no wait, a great school! People need to get a life & quit trying to be so negative and start stupid stuff on WM about it!!   Gooooo Rebels!!

Gee, more outrage over the fine set for an animal abuser than for the sentence given a murderer.

But I guess an animal is worth more than a human - a man recently was sentenced to six years for stealing a pit bull; Tammy Boatwright was sentenced to five years for killing a man.

Too bad we don't have a leader in this country. Our "President" doesn't have time to meet the leader of Israel or other country leaders at the UN meetings this week. I am so glad he could squeeze in an appearance on The View yesterday. It just shows his priorities and his fear of having to really deal with any situation that might put him in the role of a real leader. He is a celebrity and loves that role, not the role of leader-all the glamour, none of the responsibility.

So sad he sees the death of four US citizens as a "bump in the road". Yes, a bump in the road that affects his possibility of being re elected. If you were a family member of one of these heroes that were killed do you suppose you look at it as a "bump in the road"?  Funny thing about it is to see his reaction to being criticized for the remark. Boy, he can dish it out but sure can't take the heat himself-tells you something about his character.

Could it be because some of these posts actually have a grasp of history-probably the writers of the long comments were in school when one actually learned history? Don't know but I just thought it was a funny comment based on assumptions of some sort. Oh do the minds wander... and as far as telling people what to do with their time, maybe this critic should worry about how they spend their own time. It is sure easy to tell someone else what to do isn't it? How does this critic know that these people don't spend their time productively helping others. More assumptions... and you know what happens when you assume.

A minister was asked to dinner by one of his parishioners. The churchgoer was known for being a terrible housekeeper.

When the minister sat down at the table, he noticed the dishes were the dirtiest he had ever seen in his life.

"Have these dishes ever been washed?" he asked the hostess, running his fingers over the filthy dishes.

She replied, "They're as clean as soap and water could get them."

He felt a bit apprehensive but said grace and started eating. It was quite delicious, despite the dirty dishes.

When dinner was over, the hostess took the dishes outside, whistled and yelled, "Here, Soap! Here, Water!"

Thanksgiving 2022

" Winston, come into the dining room, it's time to eat," Julia yelled to her husband.
"In a minute, honey, it's a tie score," he answered.

Actually Winston wasn't very interested in the traditional holiday football game between Detroit and Washington .  Ever since the government passed the Civility in Sports Statute of 2017, outlawing tackle football for its "unseemly violence" and the "bad example it sets for the rest of the world", Winston was far less of a football fan than he used to be.  Two-hand touch wasn't nearly as exciting.

Yet it wasn't the game that Winston was uninterested in.  It was more the thought of eating another Tofu Turkey . Even though it was the best type of VeggieMeat available after the government revised the American Anti-Obesity Act of 2018, adding fowl to the list of federally-forbidden foods, (which already included potatoes, cranberry sauce, and mincemeat pie), it wasn't anything like real turkey.

And ever since the government officially changed the name of "Thanksgiving Day" to "A National Day of Atonement" in 2020, to officially acknowledge the Pilgrims' historically brutal treatment of Native Americans, the holiday had lost a lot of its luster.

Eating in the dining room was also a bit daunting.  The unearthly gleam of government-mandated fluorescent light bulbs made the Tofu Turkey look even weirder than it actually was, and the room was always cold.  Ever since Congress passed the Power Conservation Act of 2016, mandating all thermostats - which were monitored and controlled by the electric company - be kept at 68 degrees, every room on the north side of the house was barely tolerable throughout the entire winter.

Still, it was good getting together with family. Or at least most of the family.

Winston missed his mother, who passed on in October, when she had used up her legal allotment of life-saving medical treatment.  He had had many heated conversations with the Regional Health Consortium, spawned when the private insurance market finally went bankrupt, and everyone was forced into the government health care program.
And though he demanded she be kept on her treatment, it was a futile effort.  "The RHC's resources are limited," explained the government bureaucrat Winston spoke with on the phone. "Your mother received all the benefits to which she was entitled. I'm sorry for your loss."

Ed couldn't make it either. He had forgotten to plug in his electric car last night, the only kind available after the Anti-Fossil Fuel Bill of 2021 outlawed the use of the combustion engines - for everyone but government officials.  The fifty mile round trip was about ten miles too far, and Ed didn't want to spend a frosty night on the road somewhere between here and there.

Thankfully, Winston's brother, John, and his wife were flying in.

Winston made sure that the dining room chairs had extra cushions for the occasion.  No one complained more than John about the pain of sitting down so soon after the government-mandated cavity searches at airports, which severely aggravated his hemorrhoids.  Ever since a terrorist successfully smuggled a cavity bomb onto a jetliner, the TSA told Americans the added "inconvenience" was an "absolute necessity" in order to stay "one step ahead of the terrorists."

Winston's own body had grown accustomed to such probing ever since the government expanded their scope to just about anywhere a crowd gathered, via Anti-Profiling Act of 2022.  That law made it a crime to single out any group or individual for "unequal scrutiny," even when probable cause was involved.  Thus, cavity searches at malls, train stations, bus depots, etc., etc., had become almost routine.  Almost.

The Supreme Court is reviewing the statute, but most Americans expect a Court composed of six progressives and three conservatives to leave the law intact.  "A living Constitution is extremely flexible", said the Court's eldest member, Elena Kagan. " Europe has had laws like this one for years. We should learn from their example," she added.

Winston's thoughts turned to his own children.  He got along fairly well with his 12-year-old daughter, Brittany, mostly because she ignored him.  Winston had long ago surrendered to the idea that she could text anyone at any time, even during Atonement Dinner.  Their only real confrontation had occurred when he limited her to 50,000 texts a month, explaining that was all he could afford.  She whined for a week, but got over it.

His 16-year-old son, Jason, was another matter altogether. Perhaps it was the constant bombarding he got in public school that global warming, the bird flu, terrorism, or any of a number of other calamities were "just around the corner", but Jason had developed a kind of nihilistic attitude that ranged between simmering surliness and outright hostility.  It didn't help that Jason had reported his father to the police for smoking a cigarette in the house, an act made criminal by the Smoking Control Statute of 2018, which outlawed smoking anywhere within 500 feet of another human being.  Winston paid the $5,000 fine, which might have been considered excessive before the American dollar became virtually worthless as a result of QE13.

The latest round of quantitative easing the federal government initiated was, once again, to "spur economic growth." This time, they promised to push unemployment below its years-long rate of 18%, but Winston was not particularly hopeful.

Yet the family had a lot for which to be thankful, Winston thought, before remembering it was a Day of Atonement. At least, he had his memories.  He felt a twinge of sadness when he realized his children would never know what life was like in the Good Old Days, long before government promises to make life "fair for everyone" realized their full potential.  Winston, like so many of his fellow Americans, never realized how much things could change when they didn't happen all at once, but little by little, so people could get used to them.  He wondered what might have happened if the public had stood up while there was still time, maybe back around 2011, when all the real nonsense began.  "Maybe we wouldn't be where we are today if we'd just said 'enough is enough' when we had the chance," he thought.
Maybe so, Winston. Maybe so.

Well, there's the door.  Don't let it hit you in the @$$.  Send your student to JET or Douglas.  You probably don't like the change because it is instilling a little discipline and you're used to roaming the halls, signing your kid out early, etc.  A little discipline goes a long way.  And if the truth is known, what little discipline or regimentation they get at school is more than they get in some homes.  Teaching your child bad habits this young only carries over into their adult life.  And then they become one of the 47% Romney was talking about.

Did you ever stop to think that what they are doing is going to provide a better opportunity for your child someday.  No one wants to hire a straggler, someone who is late all the time, someone who wants to leave early, someone who wants to be a gossip hound.  Those people that do the hiring want responsible and disciplined people.

Go whine somewhere else.  And learn how to use spell check.  Oh wait a minute, that's another rule.

Food for thought.

Obama was elected because he was black.
Crenshaw was hired because she was black.

Obama is incompetent and ran the country into the ground.
Crenshaw was incompetent and she ran three school districts into the ground.

Obama surrounds himself with thugs and racists.
Crenshaw surrounds herself with thugs and racists.

Obama will be fired in November because he is incompetent.
Crenshaw was fired because she was incompetent.

Obama has a website calling for his firing www.fireobama.com.
Crenshaw had a website calling for her firing at www.firecrenshaw.com

Both rely on the race card.

Now, when Obama is fired in November, do you think he will file a lawsuit against the American people claiming racism?  Crenshaw did.

When Obama is fired in November, do you think he will sue citizen groups for speaking out against failed policies and incompetence?  Crenshaw did.

When Obama is fired in November, do you think he will sue citizen groups for conspiring to have him ousted?  Crenshaw did.

And if Obama sees that the lawsuit against citizens for speaking out is in fact a frivolous lawsuit, do you think he will sue the congress for conspiring against him?  Crenshaw did.  (she's now suing the school board for conspiracy and racism)

So which is it DR. Crenshaw.  Did the citizens conspire against you because of their racist tendencies, or was it the school board that conspired against you because they are racists?

Man, there is a racist behind every tree.  Oh.  Look. Over there.  There's one behind that tree.  Oh, and another.  And another.  OMG.  They are all conspiring against me!

Maybe a little a delusional.  Maybe time for a psych eval.  OMG, the golly woggles are going to get her.

Excuse me?  AFRICANS were brought to the colonies ... and the next generation to be born were Americans.

There were no African Americans in Africa and there were no African Americans in America.  There were Africans of the first generation and then Americans of African descent after that.

There's no excusing the cruel and inhumane treatment the African slaves experienced during those horrific times, but it was what it was, and there's not a darn thing anything can do about it now except learn from it and do better.

How stupid are you? How heartless are you? Are you related to this horrible woman?

The conditions were disgusting that those animals were living in. There are no excuses for leaving decaying spinal columns lying on top of kennels with living animals. It causes diseases and the smell is horrible for humans and animals. Imagine how they must have felt watching other animals die from disease and starvation, wondering when was there time to be starved and die the same way. The animals I saw in the videos were terrified. Water containers have to be cleaned daily. It's what good and responsible animal owners do.

The neighbors were saddened and horrified by what was happening there and many had complained. Some did approach her to help. She wasn't interested in doing better or getting help. Her standard response to any type of questions regarding what was happening on her property was "its the way I do things'. She has the same history in Aiken County and is no longer permitted to own animals in that county. Makes arguing that she didn't know better pretty pointless. She knew enough to cover her tracks. Her motivation was money and nothing else really mattered.

Seriously, you should find a new cause to stand up for...one that doesn't make you look like an ignorant barbarian. And since you find nothing wrong with the conditions on that property, when can Ms. Abel expect you to move into her back yard?

I hope there is a special place in hell for her.

And no, she didnt want anyone's 'help', she had her 'operation' hidden away back in the woods so the public could not even see what was going on (for obvious reasons)  And duh, its pretty easy to keep algae from growing in your buckets, you
simply change the water daily.  Thank God this horror was finally exposed and ended. And I hope our state or at least our county soon DOES have a license law so horrors like this can be prevented in the

Why do you feel the need to take a pot shot at Clemson’s football schedule in a thread where you are touting the Gamecocks #7 ranking?

There are many Clemson fans who read your site and support the Tigers just as much as you support your Gamecocks.

Both fan bases should be proud of their team’s current rankings while they last. It is a long way before the end of either team’s season.

He paid the taxes the law said he was to pay.  Do YOU pay more than the tax law says you should?  Then why should he?  The laws are put in place for everyone, not just a select few.

A video of our President talking to a Russian leader and telling the leader that he (our President) will have more flexibility to cut our nuclear defenses after the election or...a  doctored video of a candidate stating the truth about his own background and the dependency of 47% (disgraceful) of the American population.  Which is scarier for the American people?  Gee, I guess Mitt Romney grew up in a rich household. Does anyone not know that? Why is that a crime? We don't really know what kind of household Obama grew up in-he certainly lives the life of a king and a celebrity now! People need to quit demonizing people who are successful. Who is going to pay the tab for all those on financial aide from the government?

With all the issues in the middle east (and this new leaked video of Romney which is a great distraction from the failures of the US over there) do we want to be less prepared to face the risks we have in the world? This administration has already weakened us but the goal is to weaken us more. Then they think we are dumb enough to think this was a "spontaneous" event, happening on 9/11, coordinated in various countries, warned about etc. Boy, when I tend to believe the leaders of these countries rather than my own leader, it gives me pause. I guess there is a reason for that.

We often he the end result of a bad issue, but we never hear what caused the problem.  Had the family been stricken with illness, death, financial loss or what, and If so what action did the fine people in your county do to help this poor woman?

There is always more to the story than the end result.  Here are some things to explore:

1. If this lady was having any problems.. What services or help was available to her?
2. If there is nothing, check to see if your state provides assistance to farmers.
3. Check to see if there are dog breeder clubs in the area who had knowledge of these issues.
4. Check with her neighbors and see if they were aware she needed help and if what did they do tom help her?
5. Check with animal Welfare office and ask to see the inspections if any or records of any visits paid to the property, Often we find in your state the authorities cowtow to the people like the HSUS and do nothing to earn their pay.
6. Investigate with the courts to see how the warrant to go to the property and steal these animals was arrived at.  The mere presence of bones does not violate any law.
7.  The dogs in your pictures look to be in good coat and fed properly.
8. Algae in a water bucket is not against the law.  In the south it is impossible to prevent if from growing in any water vessel I would venture the city water supply   (Lake or Spring) has the same before being treated with chemicals.

Does your state have a kennel license law?   Yes or no

I hope I have stimulated some questions and actions for you to find out the real story.

The HSUS and the County will fabricate stuff to protect themselves from you finding out.

You should know the HSUS is presently involved in a RICO suit as the Defendant..

Editor's note: Now it is the county's fault that she didn't take care of the animals? You must be an Obama voter. After all, "She didn't build that"... right?

Which side of the fence?

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.
If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

White People for a White President????????????

"Evil is Powerless if the GOOD are Unafraid". ~Ronald Reagan

What do you think would have happened IF a Caucasian president had ever produced and published a You Tube video for  ALL WHITE PEOPLE to unite for a WHITE PRESIDENT .

Seriously, what do you think would have happened? In my opinion, this is the MOST SIGNIFICANT DEMONSTRATION of INTENTIONAL DIVISIVE RACISM by ANY PRESIDENT in the history of OUR COUNTRY that I recall having seen. WHOSE PRESIDENT IS HE? THIS IS A DANGEROUS VIDEO.

Obama announces the 2012 launch of African Americans for Obama. This is what racism smells like. It can't be explained away. Would you vote for a white person who did this? I wouldn't, and I think they would be run right out of town if they tried it. This is just some food for thought if you're pondering your vote in November.

Can you imagine Santorum or Romney, Newt or Paul putting out a call for all the white brothers and sisters to vote for him because he's white and so are they? If this video is not alarming to you, simply delete. If you are offended by what's taking place, please pass it on.

I do agree with some of [a previous] post.  The old team did belittle women, encourage sexual advances and scare employees, but at the same time, it needs to be said that only half of the management team was let go and that is still disturbing! If this was the reason for those people's dismissal, then why wasn't one of the biggest parties in such things fired along with them? I honestly do believe that more former employees should come forward and band together to really get ALL of the truth out! Bishop E.W. Jackson is making a war cry: “Let God’s people go!”
Jackson, a Marine Corps veteran, graduate of Harvard Law School and adjunct professor of law, is echoing the words of Moses in a campaign to persuade Christians of all races that the time has come for a wholesale exodus of Christians from the Democrat Party.
The former candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia points to what he calls the Democrat party's “cult-like devotion” to abortion; the rejection of the traditional biblical model of family; the hostility hurled at those who express a Christian viewpoint such as Chick-fil-A president and Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy; the actions of organizations such as the ACLU and the Foundation For Freedom From Religion in suing cities and towns for displaying crosses at memorials or mentioning the name Jesus in prayer at official events.
Beyond all of this, Jackson says, Democrat operatives are also attacking Gabrielle Douglas, the 16-year old black American who won the 2012 gold medal in gymnastics.
“The accomplished young lady had the nerve to give glory to God for her win,” Jackson says. “This apparently offended liberals.”
Case in point: Mary Elizabeth Williams, journalist for the progressive online magazine Salon.com, wrote, “I've often wondered what it is about Christians like Douglas that unnerves me so ... Douglas and her ilk seem to espouse a faith based on what is commonly referred to as 'The God of Parking Spaces.'”
Jackson, founder and president of STAND (Staying True to America's National Destiny), responds: “Progressives are indeed 'unnerved' by devout Christians. That's why they resort to ridicule, even of a 16-year-old Olympic medal winner. Williams says we worship 'The God of Parking Spaces,' but I would prefer Gabby's God of grace and kindness to the leftist's god of ridicule and persecution.
“Our Heavenly Father loves us and helps those who are humble enough to ask Him.”
Later this month when Democrats make same-sex marriage part of their official Party Platform, the former practicing attorney says they will be spitting in the face of every Bible-believing Christian in America: “They will be saying, 'We don't care what you think, what you believe, or what the Bible or the God of the Bible says. We know better than God.'”
Jackson's message to Christians is, “The Democrat Party has turned its back on Christians. It is time to turn our backs on the Democrat Party.”

RE: "The District’s effort to portray Dr. Rice Crenshaw as incompetent is completely ridiculous. Dr. Rice Crenshaw lead the Edgefield County Schools in a competent manner," Gist said."

Looks like she has found another bozo to represent her.  Boy where does she find these people?  Seems that is one of the things she does very, very well - surround herself with incompetent (Clinkscales), misguided (Cooks), drug running (Nathaniel Jackson), sexual predator (Schillit), racist (Bibbs and Reverend NAACP) thugs.

Obviously this attorney hasn't reviewed the latest results of his client's tenure.  And there is no way she can blame that on Dr. Tobin and Greg Anderson.

This ought to be real fun - if anyone has a case of racism, its the parents of this school district that had to endure what the racists Bibb, Cooks, Viola Jackson, Mary Alice Jackson hired - Crenshaw!  Based on nothing but RACE!

But this ought to be a teachable moment.  Covar, Shane Massey, Linsdey Graham, John McCain - they always want to be moderate, reach across the aisle, play nicey nicey with these thugs for fear of being labeled a racist.  Well how did that work out for ya?  Not tooooooo gooood.  You see, these moderates never learn.  These people are thugs.  They don't want to get along with you, they don't want to do what is best for the children or their constituents, they want to enrich themselves because they are "owed" it.  And they don't want you to get in their way - and they will do anything to achieve their objective, hence, thugs.  When will you moderates learn, to do battle against these thugs, you have to draw the sword of facts and justice and lop their ideological heads off.  In this case, reaching across the aisle still got you what you were trying to avoid in the first place - being labeled a racist.

The silver lining is - they played the race card.  You know you're winning when they play the race card.  Trouble is, their so stupid as not to realize, that dog doesn't hunt as well as it used to.  People have caught on.  Thank you Obama.

And this speaks volumes: "If Dr.Crenshaw was fired because she was Black. What color was she when she was Hired? When does race become a Factor? She was employed by taxpayers nobody owes her  anything."

Wonder if her new brain trust of an attorney will ponder that question.  That is like the snake in the soda can.  Watch what happens when it is opened.

God, country, family was a marketing ploy, nothing more.  Those people didn't live by that credo, they simply whored it out.  So you keep posting your misinformed lies about how great those folks were and how simply awesome it was to work for them, you obviously weren't there. And if you were, you didn't work in close contact with them.

I witnessed on several occasions their language embarrass employees into total silence. I witnessed and felt the fear of reprisal if ever you dared to disagree.  So don't tell me about how Godly these folks

Do you feel safer today than you did four years ago? Are you better off today than you were four years ago? Some questions to ponder for sure.

A President apologizing for this country, a President that chooses to go to Vegas and fund raisers other than lead us during a crisis, an absent President during the attacks on our embassies (he went to bed), a President and State Department not sure if Egypt is an ally (depends on how you define the word "ally" ???? Sounds a little like another President that had a problem with a definition ) , a President not meeting with the head of a country that is/was an ally, spending billions of dollars in countries that hate us and kill our citizens, an economy that continues to decline, gas prices at least double from when he took office, many more folks on assistance, our national credit rating downgraded again (unbelievable and totally unacceptable), a tumbling economy and a repeat of bad economic "solutions" (printing more money), and a candidate having to decide whether to combat the President's untruths during the debates or share his own plans for this country (sad),.  All of these things happening in just one week-what about another four years?

The answers to the two questions are obvious to anyone who is honestly looking at the condition of our country today. I just have to look at my own life today versus four years ago-not better, not safer.

Did he not know they are chanting for the demise of the United States? Did he not know they have a four foot poster directed at Americans? Or that the targets were US Embassies?

Did he not know that they murdered the American Ambassador and three of his staff.

CARNEY: We also need to understand that this is a fairly volatile situation and it is in response not to United States policy, and not to, obviously, the administration, or the American people.

Faily volatile?? Faily volatile????  How many Americans would they have to murder for it to be very volatile?  Give me a number please.

Oh yeah, of course it's not in a response to the "administration" or US policy. We wouldn't want anyone to think OBAMA had anything to do with this. After all, he is up for reelection.

Two Arabs made the movie, so they kill Americans. Now tell me that makes sense to Carney. The real reason for the attacks was simply an excuse for the fatherless attackers to do what they have been planning for years. And Obama is continuing to finance them to the tune of billions of US Taxpayer dollars.  The world is laughing at the USA.

RE: "What needs to happen, is every 'white' employee that left the district because of unfair administrative practices under her "reign" needs to get together and sue Crenshaw, Bibbs, Cooks, and Clinkscales collectively"

Absolutely right!  It only takes seven to file a class action lawsuit-and with the likes of those thugs, it sure wouldn't be hard.  But you know what?  Those that were subject to the RACISM of Bibbs, Cooks, Viola Jackson, Mary Alice Jackson, Crenshaw, and Reverand NAACP, are better then that, they would not stoop to such gutter BS.  They pull up their bootstraps and move on, unlike those RACISTS (Bibbs, Cooks, Viola Jackson, Crenshaw, Reverand NAACP, et al) that like to constantly dwell in the past, pass their hatred on to their young, but only really use it to enrich themselves and not do for the next generation, they are better than that!  Most people who want to succeed, who want to improve their live and the lives of their children don't dwell in th past and remain victims of their own hatred.  They drive on, put the past behind them and seize every opportunity to excel.  I sure pity the black community.  With leaders and so-called mentors like those RACISTS Bibbs, Cooks, Crenshaw, Viola Jackson, Reverand NAACP, they don't have a chance, and that's a shame.  They should rise up against their so-called leaders, for they are the ones keeping them down, more than
any white person has ever done.

When Sister Sallie was impotent enough to be elected to the school board, what did she start driving-a black Mercedes.  And when Bro Bibbs was impotent enough to be elected to the school board, what did he start driving-a black Mercedes.  Must be the status symbol of Racists In Charge (RIC).  So, now ask yourself- since they all impotent and pimp around in their Mercedes, has the education of your children improved?  Let's look at the graduation rate of blacks under their tenure.  Be honest with yourselves-are your children better today then when Bibbs and Cooks took office?  Guaranteed not.  The racism that Sister Sallie, Bro Bibbs, Reverend NAACP, and ole Nat King Coke peddle, doesn't pay the bills or create success.  But they surrrrrrre have done well for themselves haven't they, and at your children's expense.

Wake up black community-it's the racism of the race baiters that are capitalizing off your perpetuated poverty, all the while enriching themselves.

It is hard to comprehend a Marine would stand by and allow themselves to be duped by a thug racist spouse.  That's great for the namesake and legacy.  There's great honor for ya! A dumb [arse] led by a dumb [arse]-gives real Marines a bad name.  But you know what they say-there's always one.

How can someone (Crenshaw) sue her employer who met the terms of her contract?  Do employers now have to guarantee someone a job for as long as they want it?  Even if their performance is below par?  And they've had some shady practices while they were employed at the school?  I mean, really....she was paid not to work...and did she collect unemployment during that time?  This is just another example of NAACP people feeling they are "entitled".  So what if they do a bad job?  So what if their contract was met; just because the employer decides to go in another direction, they should STILL have their job as long as they want.  Free money....that's what's wrong with this country right now.

Editor's note: Welcome to an insight of the Democrat Party. Everybody is a "victim", unless you are a Republican working to pay the taxes that supports those who don't.

RE:"Crenshaw Sues White BOE Members: Claims Racism"

I [darn] near fell out of my chair laughing so hard!  That's so funny because it is so pathetic.  It has been said before and we can say it again, when they play the race card, they have lost because they have absolutely no facts to substantiate their argument or debate the issues.  For someone who is supposed to be educated, she sure is stupid.  Ah, let's see.  The school district just recently received their report card from the state-they received a "B".  Two of the schools received an "F".  One of the schools is on protected status.  The district almost did not get certified.  Okay Obama, oops, I mean Crenshaw - you can't blame Greg Anderson for those results, nor can you blame Dr. Tobin - together, they weren't in charge long enough to run the district into the ground.  There was only one with those qualifications - it was Crenshaw.  She was highly qualified.  After all she ran two other districts into the ground!  Guess she can't find a job so now she wants to try and hit the lawsuit lottery.  I hope when all is said and done, both parties of her frivolous lawsuits take her to the cleaners and recoup their expenses.

Hmmmmmm.  Let me see now, that evil Covar is just like George Bush.  Bush could steer Hurricane Katrina into New Orleans because he was a racist.  And now Covar with his super secret voting machine was able to change the votes of people that would have normally voted for Ms. Seconds, God bless her soul, and those that would have voted for Viola Jackson-yup he did it, he changed there votes.  And it surely wasn't the racism of Bibbs, Sister Sallie, Viola Jackson, and Mary Alice that hired the idiot in the first place was it?  They new she was not qualified - but they did it because they are the racists.  They even tried to get a Cocaine trafficking felon elected so they could try to maintain a majority on the Board so they could protect her.  It sure is a great day!  This absolutely exposes them for what they are!  They are the racists!  If I were a Marine, I sure would be embarrassed to be married to an idiot like that, jeopardizing our livelihood and dragging my name through the mud.  Sure must be a miserable life to go through always having to play the race card because your incompetent.

Guess she hasn't moved back to Hemmingway.  They probably don't want her there either.

So Crenshaw is suing the district over racism.  Guess she is showing her true colors. How many times has this district been sued over racism? What has been the outcome of those cases?
web posted September 14, 2012

Well, isn't this nice that Crenshaw is suing the school district? What in the world is she doing? I am sure the district has their ducks in a row and that she does not have a leg to stand on. I am sick of some of these people who throw  accusations of race around as an excuse for their own lack of ability. Hey, it is not what is on her outside that got her dismissed, it is what is on the inside. She was obviously not qualified for the job. Being black does not automatically qualify someone for a difficult job. Maybe someone should look into some of her actions against other races when she was in the job here.  Were there any preferences shown for those of her race? I don't know but I would think it would be worth looking into.  Often someone accuses others of what they do themselves.

How awkward your editors post concerning Chairman Campbell must be for Councilwoman Blackwell.  They seem to get along just fine and work well together. I have only heard Mrs. Blackwell speak kindly of Mr. Campbell.

Everyone knows the chairman likes meetings. Who cares?  Good things are taking place in Edgefield County, only there does seem to be a lot of new restrictions being discussed lately. Maybe the council just needs to slow down a little bit instead of trying to make so many appearances around the county and take more time before putting all these laws in to place. I was excited to hear about the land donation on Sweetwater Road though.

Editor's note: Everything I said is true. I don't worry about Vice-chair Blackwell, she's a professional and deals with bigger egos than Dean's on a daily basis.

The donation of the land was great news thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Blackwell, Linda Anderson, Merriwether Fire Chief Joey Smith and Fire Board member Ray Johnson and most importantly the Coopers. Can't wait to see how Dean takes credit for that in his next "Chairman's Update" to sing his own praises about what "his administration" has accomplished when he didn't have anything to do with it. But, she gets things done and doesn't worry about getting credit and refuses it when given.

That's the difference between a leader and a narcissist.

Editor's post: I got a real kick out of "Dean Campbell, Chairman of the Edgefield County Council", stating how he and the council learn so much from his stupid "field trips" to other elected officials meetings. "At each stop, we have learned about what each entity was working on, and they learned more about the County’s work and goals". What a crock of... well, you know. He walks in, makes sure everyone knows he is the "Chairman of the County Council", gives his spill and then leaves the meetings.

Now, just how does he "learn" what their concerns are if he doesn't stay for the meetings? As soon as he finishes bragging about who he is and what he's done, he walks out.

He has forced staff to attend almost four years worth of meetings in the last year without extra pay but puts the County Attorney on the agenda to secure extra pay for him for far less (which was shot down). Isn't that special? Oh, the "staff" is all females. Hummm. It was amusing to see his county council agenda shot down this past Monday by those in his own party.

You know.  One of these days Dorn, Reverend NAACP, Bibbs, Cooks, and Cocaine Jackson will take the eternal dirt nap.  And after they're gone, no one will utter their name, no one will remember anything good about them.  Their legacies will be the hatred they spewed.  And most assuredly, there will not be one child that would say, "It's sad, they did so much for me."  Instead, those children will grow up cursing them because they were given the legacy of hate, and they too will always remain at the bottom, never seizing an opportunity to do better.

That's a shame.  To be forgotten so easily.

And if, if they even get to the pearly gates, God will ask, "What have you done for my children that love me so?"  But He will already know the answer, and will forever assign them to the pits of hell.  Not only for denying His children an opportunity, not only for denying His children love toward one another, but for disgracing the the church.  Calling themselves reverends, pastors, ministers, so as to elicit some type of phony levity from the population in order to profit from.  If any of you have ever doubted God's mercy and forgiveness - if it wasn't so, then those highly successful people like Dorn, Reverend NAACP, Bibbs, Cooks, and Cocaine Jackson would not have been allowed to walk the earth for as long as they have.  There would have been one helluva lightning storm in the Johnston/Trenton area.

So for those of you in Dorn and Bibbs' districts, if you're sick and tired of the empty promises, if you're sick and tired of the constant hate, if you're sick and tired of the race baiting, if you're sick and tired of them taking and your children not receiving, VOTE THEM OUT!  And after you VOTE THEM OUT!  Run them out of town!

Is there no decorum for the meetings? If he is reelected, some rules or some guidelines need to be in place so that other people don't have to sit and waste their time listening to someone so clueless. He needs his own little room to be sent to for a time out and a place to express his frustration by himself-kind of like a little padded cell or something. Just joking, but seriously?????? A big thank you also to Sheriff Adell Dobey! The owner Callie Abel was said to have been previously charged in Aiken County for a similar offense.
Check her website at Calabel Farms, she sells dogs online.

Here is what Charlie Chapee said on FaceBook tonight "This has been an emotional day for me. I had been pulling dogs out of a puppy mill for several months now. I had been unable to discuss the true extent of the dogs and the conditions that I had been dealing with. Well it has all finally come to an end. After gathering enough evideince against them, they were finally raided and shut down for
good today.

I can't explain the feelings I get now looking at the pictures of all those dogs that I had seen with my own eyes up close and personal. The dogs that I had to leave behind everytime I was able to save just a
few. There was nothing I could do to save them all until the time was right. I had to bide my time and get whatever dogs I could and do it with a smile on my face. I had to turn away from all those faces locked up in those cages and pretend it was okay to keep them that way. I couldnt blow my cover. It was the only way to get what was needed to save them ALL. It took time and it took patience, but most of all it took willpower (that I did not know I possessed), to see that and then go home with only a few and knowing I had to leave the rest to sufffer another day.

I sit here and continue to cry with such an overwelming feeling of relief, knowing that all these babies are in a safe and clean enviroment for the first time in their lives. They will never have to live in their own filth again. They will have clean water, soft beds and grass to walk on. Some of these dogs have never seen grass, never walked on grass...All they have known is a small rabbit hutch with bars and wire for a floor.
So for those that have asked were so many of my rescue dogs have come from..now you can see..."

In the time President Obama has spent playing golf, you could watch 193 NFL games or the Lord of the Rings trilogy 53 times. You could take the Disney World Magic Teacup Ride 24,000 times.

In regard to the DNC recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, that is the point...that the U.S. is  "recognizing" Jerusalem as the capital, not that the U.S. is "deciding" what the capital of Israel is . It is a crucial point for the Israelis and it shows whether we are still support Israel or whether we are supporting the Palestinians. It has nothing to do with us deciding anything for them, it is deals with our fundamental support of the nation of Israel. It is actually a very big issue for Israel but you have to understand what is going on there in order to understand why it matters. It makes a huge difference where the DNC (and the RNC for that matter) stands on this issue.

That whole vote was a sham-it showed how the DNC disrespects the democratic process and how it maneuvered things for political gain. What they did was a joke, but probably not to Israel.

Are you just chiding Dorn? You know he can't even spell Op-Ed.

Good for Smith. Maybe others too will see what poison the likes of Dorn, Bibbs, Cooks, and the NAACP Reverand. It's always everyone else against them. Or, like Reverend NAACP likes to say, "you just gives us da crumbs." Did they ever stop and think they could get the whole loaf if they didn't always turn everything into a racial issue?  Who wants to hire, contract, consult, or even be around people that act as they do. Any reasonable person wouldn't want to provide them any opportunity because they are afraid of the looming consequence. If they did a bad job, didn't provide a quality service, or just did the bare minimum, you couldn't scrutinize them because they would immediately play the race card. To them, it wouldn't be because they are incompetent, it's because of race to them. So, why give them even a slice, let alone a loaf. Seems they have perpetuated their own lack of success by prescribing such poison. And because they have venom in their minds they want to teach their young to do the same, all the while perpetuating the cycle. Moreover, such a statement about just giving them the crumbs is very revealing in itself. They really are seeking those positions to ingratiate and financially gain for themselves. They're not doing it for the children or for their people-they're doing it for themselves!  After all, Cooks initially said she wouldn't step down unless she were to receive a full time position in the district. Since her several attempts failed, she relegated stepping down once her replacement was "indoctrinated.". And who is her "indoctrinated" replacement?  Latoya - who is kin to Reverand NAACP! And hasn't ole Bro Bibbs been looking for a position in the county? Seems he has been unsuccessful too!  Could you imagine him as a Magistrate? And let's not forget Mr. Cocaine Jackson. Since his failed bids at securing a position on the school board, he too beats the drums of race baiting.

I pray that those in Dorn's district have finally seen the light. No value added by his tenure of two decades, plus!  Same goes for Bibbs. Let's pray that those in Bro Bibbs district have also seen the light and elect someone that truly does have character-Monica Mimms. Bibbs is a thief-remember the suite life. Yea he be wantin da vote so he can pimp around town in his Mercedes and his blue toofeses in his ear like he important.

If the PARENT doesn't agree with the rules they can work to change them at the school but not by telling the kids they don't have to follow them because the parent doesn't agree with them. I agree there are some stupid rules like "zero tolerance" rules that go way too far. We have to have common sense and use it!!!

But don't teach your kids that you can tell them what rules they have to follow and those they don't. You're just asking for more trouble. Let's work together to make things better and not create a big rift between teachers, parents and students. Thank you.

Another sad day for our country.

MARLIN FIREARMS CLOSING ITS DOORS

Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors!  They are doing it to us, America!  Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this.  This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsman.  We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.

Something You May Not Know That Is Happening  ...  Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns???  For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers.  Some of the companies are Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R.  Some people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States .  If you control the manufacturers you can decide to stop selling to civilians.

What a perfect way to control guns.  Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital Management.  Guess who controls Cerberus???  GEORGE SOROS!!!  He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns.  Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends.  This needs to come out.  Why have we not heard about this in the "mainstream" media?  I would think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance).  If you don't know who George Soros is, you need to do some Research.  He backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros.

And surprisingly, Snopes verifies this is True, with an error excuse.

RE:  As I read the complaints some parents were writing about Merriwether Elem..... Rules are there not only for protection, but order!

AMEN!! To those complaining, have you EVER been in a class where a parent has detained the teacher for what they consider a brief meeting or quick gossip session because the parent thinks it's OK? Do you think the children sit quietly waiting for them to leave so their teacher can do her job? NO!! They begin talking, just like you, and playing. So after they leave, the teacher has to take additional time to restore ORDER! Have you been in the lunchroom while the children should be eating lunch instead of talking?  Just like you, in a crowd of talking people, they get louder and louder so they can hear each other over the noise. So, the teacher's and administration have to restore ORDER! AND, they don't eat their lunch. What about when the children walk down the halls wanting to talk, giggle and play?  They draw the attention of those in the class room, and again, the teacher has to restore ORDER to get them back on task.  Yes the car line is a mess, but when you were picking up your child and stopped to talk to other parents, what was your child doing? Running around playing because they lost your attention.  Then, YOU have to restore order by yelling and fussing at them! Oh...excuse me... I know, YOUR child is not like that! (sarcastically) Give me a break! Kids are kids.  Left unattended, they entertain themselves.  If they get in trouble for talking, teach them that instructional time is a quiet time  to listen and raise their hand if they don't understand.  Yes it's a long day to be sit quietly.  But HELLO, it's school...a learning place.  PLEASE, give me one rule at MES that is unethical or unlawful or that you or your child should "analyze"before following.  If it is unethical and/or unlawful, I will be right there with you wanting it changed.  Oh yeah, if the teacher caught your your child acting up and warrants telling you, guess what, the teacher lied to you. (sarcastically) Cause you and I both know, your child ain't like that.  Yeah right! Your blind and arrogant and your child is acting like their role model. YOU!!  If your unhappy with MES, home school. I hope it is as easy for you as it is with the teachers who teach 20 children for 6 1/2 hrs a day, 5 days a week.  By the way, when is your instruction time? I might want to come by and chit chat while your teaching, you know, bring some friends and all. Have you ever been a substitute teacher? You should try it! Really!  See first hand, a minute part, of what these teachers do.

So, did anyone catch the vote to put God and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel back in the platform? What a joke!! As I thought about it, I had to smile. God doesn't need the Democrats to recognize Him. God knows exactly where He is at all times. I don't think He was wringing His hands in hopes that the Democrats would put Him back in their platform. Does it mean anything if they do?  I am not saying the Republicans have a corner on anything, but the fact that the Democrats are using this as a political ploy is really ignorant on their part. They got a lot of flack yesterday on both exclusions so they made a political decision. God is so much bigger than any of these arrogant people. It reminds me of what happened with King Saul-so many good lessons in that account.

The question remains.  Are you better off today than you were four years ago? Some of these DNC people say yes. What world do they live in? Ask those small businesses that have gone out, ask the folks who have been out of work, fill your gas tank or go to the grocery. Prices are up. I bought coffee and the price was the same, the amount in the can was smaller. Same with ice cream. We are not stupid.

As I read the  complaints some parents were writing about Merriweather Elementary I could not help but think no wonder our teachers have so many problems with students.  I began teaching many years ago and I absolutely loved it.  The parents were supportive and stood behind the authority/rules of the school. As the years went by I could not help but see changes in parents that reminded me of spoiled children.  I do not teach anymore, but with the way a lot of parents are today I would probably discourage anyone wanting to teach.  Parents, rules are there not only for protection, but for order. Whether you agree or not with the rules you need to follow them and encourage your children to follow them.  I would love to go down Martintown Rd. at 65 miles per hour, but I do not because it is a law (rule). Teach your children to respect authority! When they are teenagers you will be so glad you did.  Parents, quit acting like you are better than the rules set or that you are so 'special' you do not have to follow them.  My goodness, if car lines and you not being able to walk in the halls or students not being able to talk at lunch  are enough to make you complain then you truly have a problem or should I say you are the problem... be thankful your children are healthy and able to attend a great school! I have a feeling these parents that are complaining are just complaining people in general.  Life is too short to complain about things like this ... be thankful, be helpful, be someone who encourages, use your time wisely ... for things that matter!  In other words ... grow up and be an adult!

This is directed solely at the two responders to the post.

I agree with this statement.  I was in the US Military,  and even our leaders said---"You are to follow orders as given as long as you do not feel they are unlawful and unethical"  Following every rule without question is STUPID.  If it was a rule to have to jump off the Brooklyn  Bridge  would you jump.  We do not live in 1985 Russia.  Think about it.  Some things have to be questioned.  I also teach my children to think for themselves and to not do anything that is against the law or against their morals.  On the same token,  I have taught them true history  instead of what the Democratic society of our school system would have them believe.

And as for this statement---
"A recent US Army survey showed that only 26% of the military think the Army is going in the right direction-The others believe the political correctness has run awry and is destroying leadership.  This is what you're advocating, that everyone should question a rule to see if it applies to them-what an idiot! There are no other cars around, the right lane is clear, but this Bozo will not pull over, plus they are always on the phone!! And have you noticed, 9 out of 10 of them are black. Why?? What is the fascination with the left lane when there are signs that say slower traffic keep to right. Another group for the Bozo Report is the Town of Johnston Sanitation Engineers, or for those of you who went to Strom Thurmond, garbage men. I have a neighbor who's is truly a pig. He throws raw garbage
in the pail, never bags it, plus his pail is broken, it has no bottom to it, he just puts a piece of card board over the hole. These Bozo's pick up his pail and drop most of the garbage in the road. I'm talking chicken bones, fish bone, just a lot of nasty stuff. They have no broom on the truck, nothing to pick up what they drop, they just look at it, jump on the back of the truck and keep going. Hey Mr. Mare, how about putting some equipment on the truck so they can clean up after themselves, or do you have to send them to school to learn which end of a broom to use??

Reading about the number of dead people still registered to vote in NC just confirms the reason anyone is against voter ID to vote. All those poor dead folks can't vote without an ID! I would hope that when I am dead , I can still vote. Come on, isn't that one of my rights? How dare anyone try to suppress my voting when I am dead, or another dead person's voting, by asking for an ID. Forget about those charming Black Panthers who were suppressing the vote in the last election. It is so much more oppressive to ask for an ID.

Sarcasm aside, I heard Jesse Jackson talking about voter ID yesterday and he said a utility bill or such should be enough to prove who you are. So, when you are driving, boarding a plane, buying beer at Kroger, etc. be sure you have your water bill handy. Oh sorry, I guess that is sarcastic too. I guess the only way to keep sane these days is to be sarcastic. If we actually took this stuff seriously we would go crazy.  Maybe if it was really taken seriously, this country wouldn't be in this mess. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why anyone is against voter ID.

I wonder how many dead people are on the rolls in SC and every other state. It would probably be a good thing for the Republicans to find out.

RE:  I am shocked by the hostility being shown to the new principle of Merriweather Elementary School.

Why are you shocked at the hostility?  These parents were just as hostile to the last principal when we didn't feel he was doing what was right for our children.

I am teaching my children to stand up for themselves.  They should not blindly follow rules set by others.  They need to analyze these rules to determine if the rules are ethical and lawful.

If the students were talking quietly during lunch, I would be okay with it, but their NOT.  They are having to sit silently--like little soldiers.  Do you sit silently when you eat lunch?  I bet NOT!!!  I would rather my children talk during lunch than during class time.

I am not sure keeping parents out of the hallways is keeping the children safe.  Most of the parents "hanging" around could identify someone who didn't belong faster than the teachers could identify them.  And we are not causing disruptions.  If you cannot teach with someone in the hallway, you need to get out of teaching.  You know Marchant said he put the car line in for the safety of the children, but riding around with a sign with your children's names on it is DANGEROUS!

I agree parents should get their children to school on time and only get them out early if it is necessary.  Though, the policy the new principal was trying to implement was illegal and unenforceable.  All parents should be knowledgeable of district and state policies before they sign any school paperwork.

And for your information, my children are learning to adapt to change.  They are doing it through questioning.  No one should just accept what someone else tells them to do, they should question the change to make sure it is the best change possible for all.

I think we will hear a lot this week about the Republicans' war on women and war on the poor. I don't have a problem giving a hand up to someone in need. The problem is that sometimes it becomes a way of life. Temporary assistance is good and it helps folks get through a tough time. Assistance as a way of life is not good and the more it is used as an alternative to working it holds back an entire group of people from becoming independent and productive. In a lot of ways it is just another form of slavery and not just for blacks. It affects all races and it affects them in a controlling and devastating way.

As far as the war on women goes, what is more of a war on women than aborting female babies and not giving them a chance for life? Abortion is a war on women and on men.  Does anyone think about the number of abortions (deaths) that happen in this country on a daily basis? Is that not a war on our own people? The numbers are staggering. They say it is all about women's rights...well what about the rights of the women to be (and the men to be)  that are being aborted? They have no rights. So sad...

We will hear a lot of fancy gibberish this week from the DNC. Hopefully we can discern the truth in the midst of all the lies and mudslinging. I am amazed that anyone in this country still believes any of the hype.

The question is, are you better off today than you were four years ago? Just fill up your gas tank and ask yourself that question. I know what my answer is. NO WAY!

Fact is I'm a Reagan Republican. I've never voted for a Democratic candidate in my life, including Dog Catcher and have no plans of ever changing.  So I'd submit to you that you "popped" of without knowing the facts.  Here are a few more facts for you to put in your pipe and smoke.  I've been employed by the NWTF long enough to have seen the good, the bad and the ugly.

As for the former employees being escorted out.  That's the policy towards all former workers.  Several  years ago, before we had a competent HR Department to help facilitate this type of thing, former employees were allowed to come and go for several days after termination. They were allowed to enter and  re-enter the building.  This was fine until one individual decided to do thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of damage to equipment in the Audio/Video Department.

Thankfully we now have qualified, professional HR folks who handle this type of thing with dignity and class.  Furthermore, our HR Department works with the former employees to help find them new jobs. These folks are caring and sensitive to the situation.  In closing I would submit that you're all about to find out just how insensitive the former management was when the lawsuit they've brought against the NWTF reaches court.  You'd better come early, get a good seat and be prepared to pick your jaw up off the ground.

Re: Looking at the enrollment numbers from the Edgefield County School District, why are there close to 700 children at Merriwether Elementary and roughly 400 at Merriwether Middle?????? Where are these children going when they leave 5th grade? Do principals earn more money if their schools have have more students?

Alright, let’s have a math lesson.

MMS has more students by percentage than MES.  This isn’t rocket science.  MES serves grades preK, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades (6 grade levels).  MMS serves 6th, 7th, and 8th grades (3 grade levels).

MES has a population of 676 students. Divide this by 6 grade levels it gives you 113 students/ grade level.  Before you say it, I understand that some grades have more students than others.  This is called an average.  MMS has a population of 386 students.  Divide this by 3 grade levels it gives you 129 students/ grade level. MMS has more students per grade level than MES.  This has nothing to do with Murphys Village as this makeup doesn’t make that much of an impact.

NOW---let’s look at the Johnston/Edgefield area.  JET Middle School has a total of 504 students.  They also serve 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  That is roughly 168 students/ grade.  They have 3 elementary schools that feed them, not just one.  JES, WEParker, and DES have a combined total of 1104 students.  They all serve preK, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades (6 grade levels).  If you take the 1104 students (all 3 elementary schools that feed into JET) and divide it by 6 grade levels, you get 184. If you take a grade level coming from the elementary schools and multiply it by 3 grade levels (from the levels JET serves (6, 7, and 8th grade), you get 552 which JET is actually losing students, not the Merriwether area.  Most parents in that area of the county will not send their kids to JET.  JET has  pool of 428 more students in the area than MMS.   MES-706/ JES-Parker-DES- 1104

So, let’s recap.  MMS has one elementary school that feeds into it.  JET has THREE middle schools that feed into it.  MMS serves more students based on the student population from one elementary school than JET does at three.  By percentage, MMS has more students per grade level from what serves them than any other middle/elementary school in the district.

It really is simple math.
So the question is, why are all the Johnston, Edgefield, and Trenton students leaving the district after elementary school?  As far as if principals earn more, I am not sure of that.  I know that other counties pay based off of student population.

Editor's note: Now I feel just as stupid. That's what I get for working on the WM's as the last section of the night when I am tired.

Re: Enrollment Numbers

Why is it so surprising that MMS has less students than MES?  It doesn't take a genius to realize that MES serves students in grades CD - 5th.  That is six grade levels compared to three at the middle school.
web posted September 4, 2012

RE:  Where are these children going when they leave 5th grade?

Merriwether Elementary has seven grade levels (K3 through 5th grade) with about 100 students in each grade level.  Hence, the 700 students enrolled at MES.

Merriwether Middle has three grade levels (6 through 8) with about 100 students in each grade level.  Hence, the 400 students enrolled at MMS.

There are very few students leaving either school including the Murphy Village students.  Most of Murphy Village in located in Aiken County, so they must attend elementary and middle schools located in North Augusta.

Actually, the overall enrollment numbers for Edgefield County schools have been decreasing for the last 5 years.  Very few people with school age children have been moving into Edgefield County.  If you look at Edgefield County's age demographics, most residents are past the age of having school age children.

Administrator's pay does depend on the number of students enrolled at the school.  Though, this is not the only determination of pay for administrators.  There is a whole formula for determining their pay.

Re: Enrollment Differences between MMS and MES

MES has a 4K class, Kindergarden, 1-5 grades.  So, in that one building you have seven different age groups of kids.  At MMS you have 6-8 grades or three different age groups of kids.  Naturally when you have twice as many garde levels (MES) you are going to have twice as many kids as the middle school.  The Editor is also correct with Murphy Village kids but that only accounts for a small fraction.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in
bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death,

-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone.

A lot of people agree there should be more thorough investigation by police departments before charges are drawn up in a warrant.   The man that was arrested for the crime on Park Street turned himself in to the police station after he was told law enforcement was looking for him.  He says he has no knowledge of the crime.  There is proof that he was in another location with many witnesses at the time of incident.  The Edgefield police department should do more thorough investigation.     This case will get thrown out because he does have proof of his whereabouts and reputable witnesses to testify for him.  It is true that being arrested for a crime does not prove guilt but many people are falsely accused everyday and most of the time when the charges are dropped it doesn’t make the headlines of Edgefield Daily.     I hope this case will be an exception to the rule and you as the editor will be true to your word.

Editor's note: When cases are thrown out and we are advised we report the charges being dropped. If not, we cover the charges being dropped or found not guilty in our reports on General Sessions Court. A report of the arrest does not imply guilt, just that the person has been charged.

once again, the food police has reared its ugly head. I am on food stamps due to  job loss.  I am working 2 pt jobs just to try and keep the lights on, I have cut everything in my budget , that i can possibly cut. I use public internet or my sisters. I changed my home phone over to a yearly pay service ( magic jack), I changed my car insurance, parked my big SUV and am driving a 1000.00 car that gets decent gas mileage. Who are you to judge me? just because I am forced to ask for help does not mean I am not worthy of buying real food. I am a person, if I want a twinkie for my lunch, then i will buy it. You try to run a household  with three in college on 600.00  a month.  If I want to purchase that steak that is marked down, i will. I can use it for several things. If I chose to use coupons and save some money from the previous month so I can have a special dinner for my sons birthday, then I will. that person you are blindly judging has a story, we are not all lazy bums. Most of all we are Humans, not some animal.  last I looked, we will still live in a republic not a socialist state ( for now at least) until that time changes, then I  reserve the right to purchase real food for my family.

Looking at the enrollment numbers from the Edgefield County School District, why are there close to 700 children at Merriwether Elementary and roughly 400 at Merriwether Middle??????  Where are these children going when they leave 5th grade? Do principals earn more money if their schools have have more students?

Editor's note: I do not have any facts to back this up, but most children from Murphy Village do not go to school beyond Elementary School. That could play a large roll in the decrease in numbers.

It's not the heart of keeping employees. Its the way these employees were walked out. Yes, businesses are run by numbers and they should be. The past administration cannot still be blamed for  the state of the federation now. The point is that you have one of the largest businesses in our county and the reductions are never reported on. Hopefully Mitt Romney will get in office and do away with all of the earmarks that keep so many of these worthless businesses open. Tax money would do better to go to worthy charitable organizations, such as hospitals and schools!

what is going on with our state colleges and universities? forst out state TECHNICAL colleges are no longer accepting  the GED for admission. I  did not realize their standards are as lofty as  Harvard. I thought that was one of the reasons for our technical schools. this is ridiculous. it does not affect me or my family but its a stupid rule. you now need a 3.0 to be accepted into some programs at our technical schools,. again why are we keeping people who are Passing from accomplishing their goals and dreams, I remember the saying 2.0 and go. My  biggest complaint is WHY on earth is USC building a college welcome center on King street in Charleston. how is this a good use of our tax payer dollars? whose pet project is this? tuition has increased over 25% in 5 years and we are paying for a welcome center in one of the priciest addresses in the state.  WHY? so glad they are looking out for the little guy.

I am shocked by the hostility being shown to the new principle of Merriweather Elementary School. These parents are teaching their children to fight the rules not follow. Yes there are times when rules need to be changed for the better but school has been in only a few weeks. The rules being imposed are for the safety and well being of all the children. Parents think about what do the rules do before you complain. Talking softy at lunch will teach your child self control, keeping parents out of the hallways will protect your child from strangers and keeps the distractions down so school can start on time. Requiring a written note for child pick up will keep your child safe.

Getting you child to school on time will help the teacher spend as much time as possible teaching your child. By picking your child up early you are denying your child the lesson being taught and disrupting the
class.

Children have enough stress with out you creating more because you cannot adapt to change. Teaching a child to adapt is a very import lesson your child should learn from you if you want your child to grow
as a person.  If you don’t like to follow the rules try putting your child in a private school or home school. But teaching your child to throw a temper tantrum when he/she doesn't like something is no going to take them far in life. Parents if your OCD is controlling your life it is time to start medications and leave running the school to the principal.

WOW! What's the deal at Wardlaw? How many long term students are no longer enrolled??? Satisfied parents don't let their children withdraw and go to Thurmand or King or other private schools. How many are gone and what does that tell us?

I am tired of riding by Strom Thurmond High School and JET Middle School and seeing how nice they look on the outside. The paint looks real nice from the front. Then I drop my child off at Parker and there is paint peeling from the top and down spout drains. The only thing that looks nice on the exterior is the front entrance. The rest is an embarrassment. I wish the School Board would ride around and look at the quality of maintenance of the exterior and even the interior of each and every school. It's a disgrace. There needs to be a maintenance plan for each and every school. PTO should not have to pay for maintenance needs for each school. Where is the maintenance plan and budget from the district for each school? Can we know the plan for our schools?

NWTF.....
You don't run a successful business with your heart and in tough economic times like these, tough choices have to be made.  Sure, the NWTF could have kept all the employees who were let go and in another two years, the 90 or so workers left here in Edgefield would also be looking for new jobs.

Know this for FACT.  The NWTF is paying for the sins of the former management. So much so that if they hadn't been removed, the NWTF would have already been shut down.  It's amazing to me that you never hear anything about the NWTF until someone loses a job.  We never hear about all the amazing things this organization does for our community throughout the year or the fact that it still employees almost 100 workers locally.

Seldom do we ever want to see our coworkers terminated or let go, however I for one am thankful that we have a management team in place that isn't afraid to make tough decisions.

Editor's note: Vote for Obama and watch even more lose their jobs.

When the Democrats say the Republicans have a war on women, I have to scratch my head in wonder. When you look at the female leadership in the Republican party it is amazing to me. The women that spoke at the convention are strong leaders and are the kind of women I want representing me. I don't agree with all of them on everything, but they are on the front lines, fighting for this country. I loved hearing these quality, well spoken, strong women speak about this country and their hopes for this country!

If Stephanie Cutter, Janet Napolitano and some of the other Democratic women are examples of their best then we have an issue. Stephanie Cutter has been caught in a number of lies and anyone who would believe anything she says, must not be very discerning. I will put the Republican women up against the Democratic women any day.

Listening to Ann Romney this morning just made this clearer to me. She was told the Obamas chose not to watch any of the RNC and she was asked if she would watch the DNC.  She said she would because she wants to hear what the President has to say and she would like to hear Michelle. Who is the bigger person in this scenario? To me, the Obamas were either afraid to listen or they don't take the Republicans seriously. It is childish and arrogant to say they didn't watch the RNC. You can bet if they didn't watch it, they got a blow by blow account of all of it. Come on. If you can't show your opponent a common respect, it says a lot about you as person.

There is no war on women. It is just one more attempt to divide this country. I like the positive message of the Republicans and I am tired of being dragged through the mud by the Democrats. Who wants to live in a mudhole?

I think it is sad when those employed in law enforcement break the rules such as Robbie Shorter has done. How could he possibly ever work to convict someone of DUI if he has done the same crime. I personally know his family, and I know that he was not raised in this manner. His mother was employed as a public school teacher for many years in Saluda and always worked to provide him with a stable home and nurturing environment. I know she must be heartbroken over his actions.

Former Democratic Alabama Rep. Artur Davis, who introduced President Barack Obama in 2008 at the Democratic Convention in Denver, appeared before the Republicans in Tampa on Monday and fired up the crowd with a powerful speech. He said that he regretted his vote and spoke directly to the nation's independents and Democrats who do not support Obama anymore. "May it be said of this time in our history, 2008 to 2012: mistake corrected," said Davis.
