To the person whom stated Fox Creek's region championships are only won because the teams within the region are weak:  I played for the volleyball team my senior year, last year to be exact, and I dont know where your statistics come from but your statement is false.  I also played for the lady Predators the year it started and we were defeated by every team in the same region the Predators play now.  It pushes my buttons for someone to say an idiotic thing such as that because that puts down the athleticism of the members of the team.  And by doing such that includes me.  Wether you choose to believe so or not the athletes at Fox Creek strive hard to become region title holders and you have to right to dishonor that.  How about try putting on a uniform, stepping onto a court or field, and defeating some of those very teams yourself and after that you come back and tell me Fox Creek plays against a weak region and thats the reason they hold titles. Until then how about don't put down the players.

As to the letter about the EMS. I too had similar problems but it was in Richland County. An ambulance was called to trasnsport my wife's aunt back to the nursing home after we took her to the hospital. We were told by the nursing home that we did not have to wait as they will take her back. Well she didn't get out of the hospital, (Lexington) until 2am! the hospital called the ambulance just to transport her back.

We received a bill for $ 576.94!!!! and this was only a 9 mile drive. We turned it over to Medicare and they took care of it. That has been 5 years ago!!! And we got a bill again two weeks ago. I called them, (EMS) and said she is dead, but they wanted proof of that plus a copy of an obit from the paper. After 5 years it finally got resolved.
web posted October 31, 2007

Lets say for a minute that the ambulance had not shown up to help at all and If there had been an injury Mrs. Clark would have complained about the “Poor Service” She hypothetically received from the Edgefield County EMS.  $ 90.50 is cheap for the peace of mind that she received knowing the EMS service was there to assist her son.

Why should John Petttigrew have to worry about a medical matter?  Should I call him because I went into our Hospital with a cold and got a cast on my arm?

Editor's note: The County EMS is funded by the Edgefield County government and it approves the policies. Pettigrew is the County Administrator and is thus the "go to guy" about county issues. The buck stops there. That is his job.

To the person who has 3 children and power is about to be turned off:  If you are reading Edgefield Daily and responding from a HOME computer, perhaps you could disconnect internet service and use that monthly payment towards your power bill. Usually, the power company will work with you if you are willing to make an effort in "good faith" to pay your bill.

Was an arrest made with in reference to the student that let off fireworks on the school bus coming from strom thurmond going to johnston.  I saw the bus sitting on the side of the road surrounded by johnston police department i then  found out that fireworks were set while the bus was in motion.  That was dangerous i hope somebody was arrested the bus driver and students could have had an accident.  This was two weeks ago on lanier drive.

Editor's note: I have no information of an arrest. Minors information is not released in certain cases by law enforcement. Those are Family Court issues and are unreportable.

I see that County Line Fire Department is planning on having a "Yard Sale". Are you going to give the money raised at this "Yard Sale" to Merriwether Fire Department to help defer the cost of changing the name from CountyLine to Merriwether Station 4? That would be the right thing to do, sorry I forgot that would be something different for CountyLine.

To the person posting the remark about Wal-Mart. HUH????
web posted October 31, 2007

Was it necessary to refer to the Edgefield County Deputy as a Large white deputy ?  There seems to be racial overtones surrounding the complainant's story. When a fight breaks out there is no time to waste I am quite sure, weapons could be involved as well as the safety and welfare of the public.  I am positive due respect and safety of the public was taken in high regards, Sheriff Adell Dobey would not have an unqualified deputy protecting the public.  I thank the deputy for responding as he did, and salute his courage to protect the public.
web posted October 30, 2007

Apparently all of you have GREAT jobs and the Wal-Mart issue is of no interest to you.  How can you as "AMERICANS" support such a company?  I know you older people(my age) know how CHINA and Wal-Mart has ruined our family's by buying from China.

I do hope you were not hurt at the game when the duputy ran into you.I would think that he really did not know who he ran into to be able to give you an apoligy. He did not do it on purpose and he was trying to stop something that might have been serious. If you had a family member involved then you would have been grateful that he responded. Accidentrs happen. We all have had times that we were responsible for one. Unless you are perfect, you have caused your share too. I doubt the officer even realized he had hurt you and if he had known it he would have been very concerned for you.

So a policeman hit me...get over it. Instead why don't you sit down, let me get someone 150 pounds larger and a foot and half taller ( I am all of 4' 11"), and hit you in your back, where you had surgery to repair a kidney less than a year ago. It wasn't that he hit me so much as the fact he showed NO CONCERN nor did anyone else. I was taught to at least say "excuse me" or apologize, but how silly of me to expect our police to show concern and compassion. It was rude and you sir, are as well. You must be a product of the current(late 80's -present) public school system where manners are not taught or expected. My mom taught me better, to bad you have to go through life cold and uncaring.

Is there any where in Edgefield that I can get some help paying my electric bill before it gets disconnected? It is scheduled to be disconnected on 10-31-07 and I don't have the money to pay it. HELP PLEASE!!!

I witnessed the officer literally knock the lady out of the stands friday night. He may have been responding to a fight or fire, when he received the call. However, once he reached the bottom of the stands he was no longer running, instead he chose to walk  and stop to speak to several patrons standing aling the fence line. There was no reason whatsoever for his actions, as he could have exited the stands down the steps if he had turned to his  immediate left, he was sitting beside the steps instead he chose to run between the fans, band students and small children.   thankfully she was not injured, but she did have a nice bruise on her back thanks to him.

I'm pretty shocked by some of the comments about the ECH.  I don't live in Edgefield any longer, but my parents and other family members do, and they have received nothing but excellent care from the hospital staff and doctors (esp. Dr. Leaphart).  The doctors are kind and caring enough to call me and keep me aprised of my mother's health when she was last admitted.  I live in a major metropolitan area now, and you will not find that type of home-type care at any large hospital.

I do not know any of the coaches at Fox Creek personally, but the reason many of the teams have won region championships is because the region they play in is very weak in every sport except football and basketball.  No team from that region, including the region champion  Predators, has advanced beyond the first round in any sport but football, basketball, and volleyball this year.  While Fox Creek should certainly be proud of their accomplishments on the playing field their championships seem to have more to do with the level of competition than with the prowess of their coaches.
web posted October 29, 2007

In reference to the Edgefield County Deputy running through the stands . . . please do not forget how quickly an altercation can turn deadly.  These officers have no idea when responding, what they may be going into.  And particularly concerning to them, would be the safety of hundreds of innocent bystanders at the game.  The person writing in said they left the game early.  They are evidently unaware that numerous Deputies remained at the front gate handling a situation long after the game was over.  While getting that matter cleared up, they were called to a possible bus fire involving the Midland Valley Football team.  With the lack of Deputies in Edgefiled County, these guys had their hands full Friday night.  I'm sure the officer was aware that he bumped someone, and probably felt bad afterwards, but did not have the opportunity to go back and offer an apology.  Give these guys a break !!!  Be thankful for all they do.

RE: Editor's note: Well, at least you did not dispute the facts contained in the story, you just tried to excuse them. I guess we can agree the story linked is factually correct.

I don't dispute the facts of 140 years ago....almost all elected officials from the South were Democrats and some if not many of those elected officials were members of the KKK.  I just don't see it's relevance to today's world where I believe zero or almost zero elected officials from any party are presently members of the KKK.  Surely we would agree that the KKK is still around today, although thankfully largely marginalized in todays society.  And surely we agree that the southern states are the stronghold of this marginalized KKK.  And surely we would agree that the southern states of today are largly republican supporters.

Finally, you once said you've never seen an African Amercian.  I've never seen a Confederate American, have you?  I could see you having known some really old Conderate Americans in the 50's or 60's, but in 2007 I only see Americans.  And the flag of America is what we ought to fly over our government buildings.  On your private proptery, I don't care what you fly....Mexican Flag, Italian Flag, Confederate Flag.......all just flags of foreign countries that your First Amendment Rights protect your right to fly/display on your property.

In response to the complaint about the LARGE deputy striking the man sitting in the stands. I believe this LARGE deputy IS a supervisor. And good luck with getting the sheriff to talk to you. Please advise us of his comments to you.

So now Judge Carpenter is being accused of not having a clear view "because she was hiding in her office behind one of them rebel flags." Am I to understand you are saying that she didn't find Rev Brightharp(a African-American) guilty of trespassing on church grounds so it must be a racist issue? Except you failed to make your point, if, in fact as you say, she was "hiding behind one of them rebel flags" then why would she give him more time and not find him guilty? The Battle Flag is suppose to keep the black man down, not show compassion and concern. But thank you for pointing it out that the white lady judge that is supports the UDC (United Daughter of the Confederacy)  showed compassion to the African-American preacher. I'll hide behind the Battle Flag every day in support of that issue. We should all show concern and compassion for our neighbor, regardless of the color of their skin. Actually,we would be better when we become color blind and stop making it an issue every time some gets their feelings hurt.

I have a complaint at the Sheriff Deputies at the ST game. I was sitting on the visitors side with my family. At the start of the 4th quarter a sheriff's deputy came charging through the stands, down the row, to the aisle and down the bleachers. This was a LARGE white deputy, as he came charging down the row, he hit me in the back, hard. I yelled in pain, he NEVER slowed down. I had to leave the game afterward. When we where leaving, my husband asked another deputy if there was a problem on the visitors side, and about the deputy running into me. He said, rather causally, "well, there was a fight on that side" No concern at all. He didn't offer us a name, a supervisor, nothing. He just went on with his conversation on the walkie talkie.
web posted October 27, 2007

Did he need to respond quickly? yes, HOWEVER, first, he knew he was going through people, he shouldn’t have been runnning through the people, period. No one was dying. Secondly, he knew he hit me,  he should have come back to check on me and apologize AT THE LEAST. Thirdly, when the other officer was told what happened a supervisor should have been called or the officer to come talk to me. The concern was underwhelming. The Sheriff will be getting a call first thing Monday morning, I would send him an email but he doesn't have one listed. We'll see if he cares.

I attended the ST-MV football game Friday night,if you are a ST grad, it was a great game, if,like me, you live in a house divided (husband, ST, wife MV) then, only great for one of us, and the one is not me. I don't attend regularly, but I have a couple of question, comments concerning the fans, students at the game. First, I was disappointed with the turnout for the team, they may not be undefeated, but they are having a good season, with a QB that is exciting to watch. That being said, I thought the crowd was less than enthusiastic, where are the students cheering, I saw students but they were all walking around, why pay 5.00 to walk? I also noticed the ROTC did not go out and do pushup after each score, when did they stop doing that? I thought it was great. What happened to Rebel? You have a good team, support them!
web posted October 27, 2007

While it may have escaped the attention of some people, it surely didn't escape mine. I was watching the firestorm evacuations in California and observed that the people who had to leave their homes shared the same characteristics: all of them were bright, courteous and caring Americans who joined in together to make life easier for each other. The huge crowds at the San Diego football stadium made the best of their lives, joining with each other in what looked like a huge tailgate party. Contrast that with the rabble that had to be boated or trucked out of New Orleans during Katrina, complaining all the while and with some of them shooting and looting, cursing and crying and demanding "sodas" when water trucks showed up with relief supplies. The sharp contrasts showed me the real two Americas. The one made up of people who made successes of their lives and took hardship without whimpering, the other one filled with people who have lived their entire lives on the public dole and will go to their graves whimpering for a welfare check. This is what I saw and it was plain enough for a blind person to see. I am tired of politicians, social workers, college and university professors and their fellow travelers demanding more and more for the rabble among us. This message is from one who has cut through the fog of lies.

I don’t know if you saw the Edgefield Advertiser last week but they had a picture of a pig and people at fox creek kissing the pig to raise money. I thought that was the dumbest thing to do to raise money. Kissing a PIG? I asked a friend of ours that has kids at fox creek whos idea that was. He said that the choices were to kiss (FCCHS School Board Chair) Mrs. Bishop or the pig and the pig won out. I figured youd get a laugh out of it. If was funny as (heck) when he said it.

So the trespassing charge was dropped against Rev. Dr. Brightharp. I'm guessing  by Mount Canaan trustess and approved by Judge Carpenter. This is so typical. This  gave Rev. Brightharp the opportunity to go to Mount Canaan on Wednesday evening for the bible study session and rip the church apart. And the worse part of it
was that there are still members there that see nothing wrong with this. Obviously they are not tired of being bullied, hollered at and put in there place. This is the mother church of the Mount Canaan Association and they are by far, the worse. The removal of a pastor has never gotten this bad in any of the churches that were
established under Rev. Alexander Bettis' leadership. He has a group of men with no backbone (flunkies) supporting him by taking it upon themselves to make changes that were beyond their authority. I think full charges ought to be pressed against each one. Serving Brightharp not God ! How tragic. "Jim Jones Brightharp" needs to stop and move along. He was a very well respected person in this and surrounding
communities with one of the finest well run business in Aiken and Edgefield counties offering excellent service to all in difficult times, but this will probably be the topic of his conversations now when comfort is needed.  Some remember George Sr.: Like father like son. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. It was ripe but now
beginning to rot.

Wow.  Would you like to know the number one reason people should ignore this?  Because you're a raving idiot.  That made absolutely no sense. I disagree with what this oh-so-intelligent person is saying.  I do disagree with some of the things the hospital does on occasion, but isn't it better to have a hospital there than not have one at all?  If something had happened to someone, they could go there until they were able to get to MCG or University.  Let's be honest, you're more likely to die on the drive to MCG/University rather than going to a hospital that CAN postpone the problem at least. It also depends on the doctor you get. The newer doctor to Edgefield County isn't very trust-worthy, but a few of the others are.

This is in response to the people writing in about FREE insurance at ECH.  My spouse works at ECH as a Registered Nurse and I assure you the insurance is NOT free.  Maybe the Administrators do not pay, but the employees who do the work most definitely pay as it is deducted from every paycheck they EARN, which, by the way, is every paycheck they receive.

I read with amusement the posting about the principal who’s levying his own brand of affirmative action in student government.  However, then reality set in, and I became scared….very scared.  What kind of idiot would advocate, much less sign off or enforce such absurdity.  This principal is an educator, I challenge him to pull out the federal or state constitutions and show me where that form of affirmative action is stated?  Thus, shouldn’t our student governments serve as a mechanism to teach and illustrate how our “real” governments work (local, state and federal).  Think about this, this buffoon of a principal is teaching our children, these are the expectations one should have of their government….last year was a white president, this year black.  A message to the school board, your really need to jerk a knot in this principal’s chain and get him to sit down with the American government teacher for a remedial class on civics.  Professional educators should be embarrassed by his actions and incompetence.  Great on the student….you did well!

I think this whole thing about FCHS and the sports program is just hilarious.  If one were to review all the sports the kids participate in, review the coaching background of the head coaches of those sports and compare records, you might begin to question the ability of the football coach.  Either that, or all the baseball, volleyball, golf, swimmers, soccer and softball players from last year and this were the best in Edgefield county and decided to go to FCHS and that FCHS got all the bad football players.  Anyone who has followed the sports for the past few years know that all the kids are talented and even a new coach who never played a sport can win if he has COACHING talent.
The biggest contribution Schneider could make to FCHS is to wave bye-bye as he leaves the building.

How's this for a compromise?:
To get the  NCAA and NAACP off South Carolina's case on the Confederate Battle Flag issue, somebody should propose to strike the Battle Flag and replace it with the Real Confederate Flag: The Stars and Bars.
It has no negative emotional or controversial connotations.  The Stars and Bars is a better symbol of Southern Heritage because it represents the best ideals of the Confederacy at its roots.  True Sons and Daughters of the Confederacy would accept this compromise  because most of their ancestors would approve of such a reasonable and honorable agreement.  It is foolhardy to hang on to a relic that divides our state from the mainstream and continues to hurt our economy.  For right or wrong reasons the Rebel X is offensive to many.  Put the Battle Flag in the State Museum.  Run the Stars and Bars up the State House's dome!
(I trust the editor will nominate me for a Nobel Prize if this works!)

Editor's note: No prize. You incorrectly assume that the "opposing" side is willing to compromise. Compromise to them is that you bow in submission.

Sadly, I think this article embodies why so many non-southerns associate the battle flag of the confederacy with racial unrest.  http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58295

For most it isn't a republican or democrat thing, but a southern thing.  Right or wrong, this article is what alot of folks see as the facts surrounding the south and carries forth to this day.

Question, in 1980, what presidential candidate announced his run for president in a town famous for the killings of 3 civil rights workers?   http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39345-2004Jun13.html

Which candidate rec'd (and renounced - gotta give that credit where it is due) an endorsment from the KKK in 1980?  http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/comment-hayward121902.asp

Yep, the KKK was endorsing presidential candidates as recently as 1980.  Not 1880, but 1980.  Some of you probably even voted for the KKK's guy (I wasn't old enough to vote in 1980).

It is my opinion that this candidate is who changed the south from Democrat to Republican.  And brought the theories and thinkers of the KKK with them.

I would like to thank all the responders to the wreck on Walker Rd. Monday afternoon. A family member of mine was involved in that wreck. Everyone involved (excluding ECH) did a great job. He was carried to ECH complaining of back pain. The ECH did x-rays and discovered he had a fracture in his back. ECH felt he would heal on his own and was discharging him with recommendations of going to a specialist later in the week.  He attempted to get out of the hospital bed only to realize he couldn't get up. At this point ECH did more x-rays and contacted MCG hospital. He is still in the hospital at MCG. Hopefully his back wasn't further injured with his attempt to get out of the bed at ECH.

You are kidding right?
"Cats can carry diseases, knock over trash, and are prolific breeders.  The accused “hostage takers” have two young children, with all the germs floating out there is see their need to see that the cat is removed.  It is up to the owner of the cat to take responsibility for the animal’s actions and if the cat was running the streets coming in to contact with lord knows what germs.  The accused took action for the safety of their children."

So now, cats are nuisance, disease carrying rodents? Please, Run from the cats, you might catch the bubonic plague. Give me a break, Unless the kids are immunocompromised  and have direct contact with infected feces (note the term INFECTED not just feces),they arent going to catch anything from the cat. If you are that concerned then maybe the kids should go around in a clean suites to keep from coming in contact with germs. I can assure you they are exposed to more germs at school than any from a cat.
This is getting way out of hand, its a house cat for goodness sake, many people allow their cat to roam,(right or wrong) sure they are prolific breedersbut thats another argument and should have nothing to do with this case. As far as cat feces all over the place I have not seen cats leave a mess like that, they  might dig in your flower bed, but they dont normally go where they can't dig. Unlike the stray dogs that roam the streets. I'll take a stray cat over a stray dogs mess anyday. This is not a right or wrong issue, both parties have blame, however, In the words of my kids, "build a bridge and get over it" . Now, lets bury this issue for good.

CLARICE WISE DOES HAVE A LIFE.  To the writer that wrote for her to get a life - she does have one and one I may add most people couldn't keep up with.  Clarice runs a 550 acre farm that raises cattle and cultivates pine trees, she maintains one of Edgefields beautiful plantation homes - you know the one that was a Governor's Mansion? By maintaining I mean she does all the gardening, hostessing those that randomly pull in her driveway and are fascinated with her home - most times she will gladly even show her home.  Clarice belongs to a garden club, church going and a definite pillar of the community.  There is nothing too important if there is a friend or neighbor in distress that Clarice will not drop what she is doing to go to that persons aide.  I know she did it for me.  If you are fortunate to go shopping or traveling around the county with Clarice there is not a single soul that does not know her and respect her.  Clarice has the warmest heart of anyone I have ever known.  If you are lucky enough to be invited into her home she will make you feel so comfortable you will feel immediately that you are with family.  Yes she is strong in her convictions of Oakley Park and rightly so.  At least when Clarice writes editors she doesn't hide behind "anonymous" she puts her letter out there for everybody to read and her name is there too!

(Name removed) said you were more like a prism. The news is like light hitting the prism and the BS, spin, and other crap is gone and it is just the real news. I still like my magnifying glass metaphor better. Either way keep up the good work. We wouldn’t know what is REALLY going on around here if it weren’t for (EdgefieldDaily.com).

Could you please tell me if the person driving the fire truck for County Line Fire Dept. has a class "E" license? Has this person taken and passed the EVDT (1210 SCFA)? How about PUMP OPERATIONS 1 (1220 SCFA)? 2? Are both certified firefighters? (1152 SCFA)? (1153 SCFA)? Also if you are responding to a car wreak you might want to have BASIC AUTO EXTRICATION (3330 SCFA). Better yet do both "firefighters" have a current State Criminal Record Check????

Thanks again Merriwether for all you do for DISTRICT # 9.

PS: Merriwether station 4 on Sandy Hill Ct. N. Augusta sounds great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean with his long ties to the DEMONcrat party anything is possible. I bet Bill Hixon will vote for Bill Clyburn. I know I can’t prove that but I bet he does because he just hits me like a sore loser. If that is all Bill Clyburn has to run on he is going to end up like Bill Hixon. A LOSER!!!!!!!!.

I am confused (obviously Judge Carpenter is too!) about this trespassing thing with Mr. Brightharp.  It is my understanding that yesterday Judge Carpenter was to rule on whether Mr. Brightharp was guilty of trespassing pursuant to the trespass notice he had been served.  Now I've been told that what Judge Carpenter did was tell Mr. Brightharp he could continue to trespass on church property until November 10th.  Call me crazy, but that just don't add up right.  If you are served a trespass notice and you TRESPASS after you are served, to me that spells and smells of GUILTY!  Is there some reason Judge Carpenter couldn't call it like it was?  Maybe she didn't have a clear view because she was hiding in her office behind one of them rebel flags.

This is so idiotic, it is actually amusing. In a land faraway at a local high school, the principal called for Student Government elections. Many students decided to run for Student Body president. The principal held a meeting for potential candidates, in which stated if a potential candidate has been written up for disciplinary infractions, or is written up before elections are held, then that candidate is disqualified from the election. Well, the election was held and the winning candidate for Student Body president was elected. This Student Body-Elect was of questionable character and had been written up for disciplinary infractions many times this school year. The other candidates, who had no disciplinary infractions, were furious. They tried to talk to the
principal about this matter, but he refused to speak to them. Obviously, he was embarassed by his own
incompetence, and did not want to discuss it with the teens. He felt like did not owe anyone an explanation,
because he was the head honcho and he had made idiotic mistakes like this many times before. However, the other candidates kept up the effort. They got a respected teacher involved and she was able to get a
meeting with the principal in which one of the candidates would speak for the whole group. The principal pulled out some very old bylaws for Student Government that had not been enforced in years. These bylaws were put in place many years ago as a kind of Affirmative Action plan for Student Government. When the bright, young candidate started asking the pig-headed principal some poignant questions, this is what he said. He told the bright, young candidate (who had no disciplinary infractions) that none of the other candidates qualified for Student Body president. Befuddled, the young, bright candidate ask him "Why?". The principal told her the bylaws stated that since the Student Body president had been black the year before, this year the Student Body president should have rotated to a person of the white persuasion. Since no white candidates opted to run for Student body president, the results were final. I have a question. What about hispanics? Are they not allowed to run for Student Body president?

Gooooooooooooo County Line....where were you Monday night when EMS was called to Bettis Academy Park?  A child was hurt (in an unknown manner), but where were you?  Sometimes First Responders from County Line are at the games (even though they arrive late and leave early) are present at the game.  They are not driving the first responder vehicle though.  They are driving the service truck.  Has that become the new first responder vehicle?  Or are they going out for free BBQ?  Maybe they are just showing off the bling bling to make everything look hunky dory.  Once again, gooooooo County Line.

That was nice of the EMS worker posting the thanks for the Fire Departments helping at the wreck. May God be with the gentlemen that wrecked and his family. But my first question is why can’t County Line respond to things in there own district but they can go all out for things outside. Just like Fire Prevention week, what did County Line do? “Nothing” Sure is funny that until the firemen were removed, County Line was on a roll for getting things done for the Community. But now you see that no one is at the station or doing anything but ridding around in the new service truck all over the area outside of the district to get free BBQ. Also what’s this I hear on my new bought scanner a fireman on HWY 25 running a red light in a red truck attempting to stop a car? I guess now he/she are part time police. The biggest thing is I see the Chief has now gone back to his old ways of not showing up to calls or training. I think he would rather be in the Poker Run with his motorcycle then at the woods fire turned into structure fire. Good job Merriwether for helping out and as always for saving County Line. Maybe one day after the ones that are in charge now leave they may be able to stand on their own feet.

I thank God that I was made to leave Edgefield about 5 years ago.  I use to believe that it was such a wonderful town and the people were great, but as I and all those who read this cat story among some others can see that it has become a town filled with a lot more people now who are only out for themselves.  Can anyone tell me what it is that a cat carries that is so awful?  Other than feline leukemia, which can be prevented, how are they worse than dogs, or the roaches and rats that run the streets and even in some houses?  Please, be for real, if they are loved and cared for, treated for fleas and vaccinated what are you people so afarid of....being wrong?
web posted October 26, 2007

It has come to the attention of the southern headquarters of the special operations command (socom), that after several aerial drones and multiple missions done by the 1st Recon marine battalion (Special Operations Capable) that the cat in question is in fact an infiltrator from Al-Qaeda.  The cat’s likeness resembles various picture of an insurgent cat by the name of Kitty Meowmow (no relation to Mao Zedong).  Kitty Meowmow, you may remember was a former member of the Mujahideen during the Soviet-Afghan war of the 80’s.  After the war Kitty Meowmow went freelance with Carlos the Jackal and was successful with several stunning hijackings in the late 80’s.  Early 2004 Seal team 2 observed Kitty Meowmow in the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan with Osama bin laden, and later that year he was also linked to terrorist training camps in the Sudan and in Beirut. Kitty Meowmow is also wanted for the attempt to buy heavy water and plutonium from the government of Nigeria.  Kitty Meowmow is still on the watch list of the Israeli Mossad, US’s CIA, Britain’s MI-6 and MI-5, and Edgefield County.  Reuters posted a grainy video of Kitty Meowmow knocking over trash cans and reliving herself in the Gray Street region of Edgefield USA.  Kitty Meowmow is trying to slow the economic development of Edgefield by slowing trash collection; and to make hard working Americans late for work by the unscrupulous tactic of knocking over trash.  Kitty Meowmow has also managed to instigate locals in to thinking a small child is to blame for is disappearance.

If you find this story as ludicrous and as outlandish as I find the “hostage cat” then you see my point, the accused are good friends of mine.  I have witnessed this cat at their house several times.  Cats can carry diseases, knock over trash, and are prolific breeders.  The accused “hostage takers” have two young children, with all the germs floating out there is see their need to see that the cat is removed.  It is up to the owner of the cat to take responsibility for the animal’s actions and if the cat was running the streets coming in to contact with lord knows what germs.  The accused took action for the safety of their children.  I would not be so lenient to stray cats in my yard.

There have been times I couldnt get records because no one was in the office and the lab won't give you a copy of the records HIPPA says you are entitiled to.-You have to wait on medical records, so if no one is in the office (the hours mean nothing to them0 you are out of luck. and they don't care. I have never known a cat to leave their waste uncovered.
It is even sadder that they as been no we are sorry on any one's behave, right or wrong, you are still neighbors and may need each others help for some mater or other one day.  You never know what is in store.  It is an even sadder day when are neighborhoods are so angry that small domesticed animals are allowed any outdoor time or freedoms.  They are not bred or meant to live this way no more than a so called human being is meant to.

If a parent complains to him or any of the other "coaches" about anything, then yes he does take it out on the boys, The coaches degrade them or just don't let them play.  The boys are called names that are not allowed in this paper.  Just ask any parent and they could tell you.  So be real carefull who you try to defend.  From what I hear S**t is fixing to hit the fan.  As for you calling people a coward,  Their names will be known soon enough.  The parents are feed up.

How many Edgefield County Hospital  (ECH) employees does it take to change a lightbulb ?  I don't know, they're all on a cigarette break !  Maybe working on their tan, who knows ?

A few, and very few, may be busy, but most aren't.  ECH was opened as a forty (40) bed hospital when it opened back in 1971.  It now operates with no more than 15 hospital beds and 9 extended care beds.  The usual census is @ 5 hospital patients and @ 4 extended care patients.  For the uninitiated, extented care patients are essentially nursing home patients that require less care than hospital patients.  There are at least 60 full-time employees and an equal number of part-time employees.

Why does it take so many ECH employees to "change this lightbulb" ?  This is a classic example of a government bureaucracy run amok---a few examples--  3 Pharmacy employees,  3 Supply employees, 7 Dietary employees---All this for 9, count um ,9 patients!

So ECH employees, no more whining about how misunderstood you are, or that no one cares about you or other such hooey.  THAT DOG DON'T HUNT !!!

This has been blown way out of proportion. The blame is being pointed in the wrong direction. The cat owner should realize that if she were a responsible pet owner it would have been at her house instead of the neighbor's house tearing it to pieces.I know that they were not intending for the cat to be put to sleep, but that is what happens when you let your animals run the streets like it is homeless.

It is a shame that the majority of disgruntled emails about FCHS come from people at Fox Creek. I do however believe that it is just a handful of people who didn't get their way.  Most people think that the negative stuff comes from (the Editor) and it doesn't. (The Editor), even though I don't always agree with you, I think that you do a great job reporting the news for the citizens of Edgefield County. Keep it up.

As a supporter of the school, I must say that it is a shame that some are so YELLOW (COWARDS) that they have to hide behind a website to get their point across. You take jab after jab at those who work hard to help the school succeed. You are a cancer to not just FCHS, but I believe you would do the same at STHS. If you are so unhappy, send your children somewhere else instead of whine all of the time. I know for a fact that Dr. Murph has taken FCHS to a new level. He is fair and works hard to make the school succeed. As for Schneider, let the man build a program. It takes time. If you don't like what he is doing, approach him. I know that he would never take it out on a kid because he thinks the parent is an idiot. Ooops that would require you to scrub the YELLOW streak off of your back.

to finish disposing of my garbage until the attendant could compact the trash.  Even a “Redneck” knows what proper trash dump etiquette is!  Please show some respect for others!

Okay, on the cat situation, I have a lot to say. I am replying directly to the killer of my sister's cat. Yes, killer, the trap crushed her and animal control put her to sleep because she was suffering. I have had Your animals (two brown hounds that were always out) in my yard defecating, ruining the things in my yard, and chasing my daughter.  Have you thought about racoons and squirrels? I found out about the cat when my daughter came home from school hysterical, because the boy across the street told her that he was holding the cat hostage and would not be giving it back. None of our children are angels and above reproach. It is odd that many of our other nieghbors know our pets by name, yet you couldn't ask anyone about it. I am sorry that these things have happened and about the damage to your property. This is the third pet (of ours) that you have in some way been responsible for dying. The aforementioned dogs killed two of our ca ts, or at least were seen dragging the bodies up and down the street. I did not say anything, because accidents happen, and these things are part of life. We take good care of our pets, have you thought about the cost of the animals that are now gone. The cat killed in the trap was a pure-breed worth over $800, yet as a family member she is irreplaceable. To everyone who reads this and thinks the 911 call was a bit much: my sister (owner of the cat) is disabled and in a wheelchair. She has had multiple-strokes and will soon be paralized from the neck down (due to bone deteriation), she has a very low quality of life. Her beloved cat was one of the things that brought her joy. She (the cat) was a very special miniature-manx (so that she could have her on her lap) we will never be able to find another. My sister still cries daily over this loss. All of you please think before you act.

In response to the little whine about Edgefield County Hospital (ECH)  not "looking after" it's employees (dated 10-18-07).  ECH looks after it's employees very well.  As a matter of fact, TOO WELL.

ECH employees get their health insurance for free, yes gentle readers, FREE.

State and Federal employees shell out between $120-$150 dollars per month for single coverage.   ECH employees get it for free.  It is my understanding that County employees are part of the State system.  So, if you want a free ride on insurance that the taxpayers are covering, work at ECH.  Not the State, Feds, or the County.

A recent editorial in the Augusta Chronicle stated that only about 20% of all employers gave a free ride on health insurance.  I certainly pay for mine.

Tax  notices are coming out soon, read it and weep.  Your ECH board members will be too busy enjoying their monthly steak dinner to give a ____.

Did anyone else get the postcard mailout for the Massey/Barrett BBQ on Sept 27, 2007? I got it Saturday, so it was supposed to say Oct 27, 2007. That's a pretty big blunder for the Massey campaign. He wants us to trust him to legislate, when he cannot even hire someone to proofread a postcard. It does not say much for his leadership abilities.

It bothers me that Massey keeps saying that he wants to cut taxes. Does this mean that he wants to downsize schools and get rid of teachers, have larger class sizes, etc? Most people that want taxes cut really
don't know what they are talking about. They usually have diarrhea of the mouth and are just spouting off
what the ignorant want to hear.

I would like for Massey to talk in specifics. How is he going to shake up Columbia. Does he have any
knowledge of budget concerns? These are questions I would like him to answer.

Editor's note: If you have questions left unanswered in reports Mr. Massey has always provided his cell phone number (803-480-0419) to the public. Give him a call and get the info first hand. I do not have information on the BBQ, but there is a "Meet and greet" fundraiser that will be held tonight at Old McDonald Fish Camp on Currytown Rd. in Merriwether.

For all you high school football fans:
This week, is the last week of the regular season for Strom Thurmond.  ST's record is 5-4(we are much better
than that, but have been plagued by the injury bug all yr).  ST will host Midland Valley this Friday night,
in which, should be win for the Rebels.  Now for the playoff predictions:
ST will finish 2nd in region 4, which means they will host the 3rd seed from region 7.  This team will more
than likely be Stall.  If Stall wins, they are coming to ST for week one of the playoffs.  If Stall loses and Bluffton loses, then Stall is still coming to ST for the 1st round.  If Stall loses and Bluffton wins, then Bluffton will travel to ST for the 1st round.  Don't look for Bluffton to win this week, they are playing a very good Hilton Head team, while Stall is playing a not so strong North Charleston team.

Now if ST wins the first round playoff game they will play the winner of the Region 5 #1 seed(Marlboro Cnty) and Region 6 #4 seed(winner of this weeks game Carolina Forest/North Myrtle Beach)....Don't look for MC to lose in week one, which means if ST wins in week one them we will be traveling to Marlboro Cnty(hostile
environment!!)...with this being said...if ST takes care business the next two weeks and brings their A game (w/o injury) in the 2nd round, there is a chance that we could get to round 3 this yr....i haven't got that far yet.....

This team is still a contender, don't count them out and get out to support them.  None of this is set in
stone yet, just my predictions.

RE: Editor's note: To say they have tried to attract them is not true. Just look at the racial make-up of MES and MMS just a few miles down the road. If Fox Creek Charter HS wanted minorities, they would have them in similar percentages as other nearby schools.

You and I both know this is not true.  You know I think of you as a friend, but the one thing I so do not agree with you over is the FCHS minority thing and putting the kids there down.  Put the Bishops and other Board members down ALL you want or even the teachers and admin, BUT please leave the kids alone.  Most of the kids there are good friends with most of the kids at STHS!

FCHS has gone to many black churches in the area to try to get the kids to attend!  We have put signs and info. up in the "Hispanic" areas also.  I myself have done this, we even have made signs in Spanish to put up!

I have said in the past and say once again....I feel bad for the black students at FCHS as you keep saying they do not exist.  I am quite sure that makes them feel just lovely.  They can NOT have them in "similar percentages" if they do not want to attend!  At least we only have ONE prom!!!

Editor's note: Strom Thurmond has only one prom for its students.

All one has to do is google "Judith Miller Lies" and see what pops up.  http://www.slate.com/id/2095394/, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Judith+Miller+lies,

Sadly, you'll probably bring up a bunch of quotes from Dems that stated similar things.  Perhaps even sadder is that you still believe these to the truth as Americans die in Iraq and our treasury is depleated for this war.  I don't recall those Dems being the person that was given the charge to lead us to war if he deemed necessary.  That was W.  And this is his war.  And Miller's article sipported the lies that led us to this war.

If I voted for W, I'd go fight in it.  Many people I know that support W have signed up and I admire them.  The members of the 101st Keyboard Brigade are not admirable.  To vote for a war for other Americans to go fight and die in, what is admirable about that?

On the "news"....I don't recall you reporting any "news" about Larry Craig (pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct after an undercover police officer accused him of soliciting sex in June in a Minneapolis airport restroom.), Mark Foley from Florida (who quit the House last year after exchanging sexually explicit e-mail messages with under-age male pages), Ted Stevens taking bribes and under investigation by the FBI, or Bob Allen, a state representative in Florida who was jettisoned from the John McCain campaign last month after he was arrested on charges of soliciting sex in a public restroom.  Was none of this news?

But this was....

I do recall you reporting about Jefferson from Louisana have $90,000 in his freezer.  What did plead, or been found guity of?  I don't defend Jefferson as he is a scum bag, IMHO (and yours I'm sure).

To take the position that you don't pick and choose what is "news" is ridiculous.

This is a good site for local crimes.  I am amazed by the number of burgularies in this area and wouldn't know about them w/o ED.com.  But for the national stuff, it is a rightwing(nut) gallary of items that would make Faux News proud.

I'd like to say that I'm the suspected "cat napper" , and would like to set some things straight!
First of all, I have had to pick up trash that has been strung around my yard for awhile now. NOT to mention, cleaning up feces from my outside furniture- which really makes me mad. Yes, we got a trap, and Yes, we caught the cat. Isn't that what you're SUPPOSED to do? Or should we have just shot the dang thing? We did what was right! We had no idea who's cat it was, if we did, we would have went to talk to the owner. I would also like to state that it's ridiculous for the owner to THINK that my children had anything to do with it. Do you think THEY could get a trap?? NO! WE are the one's who took action. Also, how dare she accuse him of holding other cats "hostage" that have been mising in the neighborhood. First of all, we havent even heard of any cats being missing, so I dont know where she's getting her info from!! Secondly, we teach our children a little better than that. We  teach repsect for people AND animals.  What does she think we do...collect cats
for some cult or something? Last,we dont even like cats, so why would we catch them and hold tehm hostage??? Not that we hurt them, but we just dont like them- for this exact reason (tearing up trash, feces everywhere, etc.). So, if she has a problem with how we handle HER cat when it's on OUR property, then maybe she should make sure they dont come on OUR property anymore. How would she feel if OUR animal came into HER yard and tore her "yard decor" up?? She's do the same thing. I think that this whole situation
is ridiculous- to say the least.

I'm talking of course on the decision to remove the Confederate Battle Flag and instead fly the flag that the UDC uses, the First National. If the Battle Flag flies at Oakley Park every day, and is indeed a public park used by people every day, then why on the day you are supposed to celebrate Heritage do you vote to hide it? Why didnt she explain that vote? (I believe the idea came from our magistrate)Either your proud of your heritage or your not make up your mind.

I don't play football, but I am in several different clubs such as Photography and Student Council. I shop at Wal-Mart and I am still well liked at the school, and for the people who believe that FC is a school of racists, why would you say that? If white people want to go  to Thurmond then they go to Thurmond. If they want to go to FC they go there. The same goes for Hispanics and Blacks. So please dont criticize the school about not having enough minorities. If they don't want to come to FC then they do not have to and vise-versa. Oh and go Predators.

Editor's note: Actually, FCCHS is in violation of their charter due to minority population. It is not as simple as saying if "they" (blacks) don't want to attend it is a done deal.

STHS has its problems with students, so does FCHS.  They are not happy with the new superintendent and we are not thrilled over Ms. Bishop.  The members of the BOE are called names, we don't like the way elections are done at FCHS.  STHS parents don't want their children to drive all the way to FCHS and we at FCHS don't want our children traveling all the way to Edgefield.  With as many wrecks on those roads, could anyone blame parents for not wanting their chldren driving either way that far.  They are all children, and some will speed and some could die.  So then, why if this is a problem for Edgefield, don't  the BOE build a high school over on this side of the county.  Then there would be no FCHS and the BOE could run the show.  FCHS is not an all white school, there are black students, no many, but they are attending FCHS.  Don't disregard them, they are fine students and well received.

To the person in the medical field, You know nothing about my background and to infere that I dont understand is quite wrong. I too worked in the medical field over 20 years, I saw first hand what happens to those that abuse drugs. My real problem lies in the fact that it is another step toward bigger government influence INTO medicine, and into my personal life. I have witness doctors talking about being afraid to perscribe narcotics for fear of reprisal if they write to many, who is to say how much? This law doesnt apply to internet pharmacies so those that abuse will just circumvent the law that those of us that play by the rules will be the ones negatively affected. I think money is better spent getting the child support collection centrailized and getting dead beat dads (or moms) held accountable. Its been 15 years and still, nothing on that front.
But by all means lets get this law on the books so we can get people like Rush Limbaugh off the streets.

The list could go on forever, were is the money for this program coming from? another cut in Medicaid? Education?  DSS?Who is  writing the program? How can the hospital provide "quality care to all people" if the pay is substandard, there is little or poor supervision in the various departments and the employees don't have someone to look after them?
Other hospitals provide tuition reimbursement or financial incentives to employees to be better trained.  But not ECH.  And those that are in school and not working the minimum hours for benefits are not treated the same.  Some are allowed to work little or none and get full benefits and others loose benefits if their school schedule makes them miss too many work hours.  All of these things are wrong and the Board just turns a blind eye!!!

However, being a medical professional myself and being a witness to the number of prescription drug abusers we see everyday would be staggering to you. Also, I have witnessed this in my own family. The heartache, despair, abuse and devastation this abuse can bring to a family, immediate and extended, rivals that of illegal drug abuse. I am sure that you wouldn't stand for illegal drugs to be sold at our pharmacies much less without some sort of control and supervision over the amount being sold. I personally see this as a great system that can't go into effect too soon. Obviously you don't realize just how many prescription drugs are on the streets and the doctors are just as much to blame as the patients. I know numerous people who abuse prescription drugs, given by the same doctor, month after month, year after year. These folks are in just as bad of condition as a crack user. There are people who go to the doctor (every single month) for a refill on an addictive drug. As soon as the prescription is filled, the drug hits our streets for the almighty dollar, just as the doctor gave the prescription for the almighty dollar. I have been exposed to drug abuse my entire life; street drugs and prescription drugs. I have friends and family who can't function without prescription drugs. With this new policy, I feel hope for their recovery even if it means the local government pries into any drugs I may be prescribed.

Trust me THIS and the comments about "popular kids" does not pertain to ALL of the students at FCHS.  Some of our kids are there because it IS easier and we work in Aiken county and it is just easier to deal with instead of my kids being 25 or more miles away from me all day!

My kids miss their STHS friends, but they also have friends at FCHS and N.A. and even Greenbrier.  I do not see how that makes them any most "snotty" than anyone else in the county!  My kids are not on sports or the best students, nor do they wear Abercrombie or American Eagle clothing, but they like FCHS and asked to go there.

Also, I agree with the people that say, "Say all you want about the school and the board, but leave the kids alone".

I read with great interest an article in Mondays Augusta Chronicle, discussing the "war on drugs" and a new policy in effect January 1. In case you missed it here is a couple of paragraphs .The original article  was written by a writer from "The State", John Monk- It states-

"As early as January, a new computer at the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control will go online, linking the state’s 1,225 independent and chain pharmacies.
From then on, all pharmacies will upload to DHEC information on everyone in South Carolina who buys painkillers, tranquilizers or stimulants. This data includes the patient’s name, date of birth, address, kind of medication, dosage and the prescribing doctor."

Now, I am not an addict nor do I abuse prescription drugs but what I take I MY BUSINESS, and I don't want SLED, telling me or my doctor not to prescribe meds. We are actually spending money on the "war on drugs" yep, that's going to make me sleep better at night.  Our kids can't read on grade level,. their is no discipline in the schools, property taxes are outrageous, and we are worried about...prescription drugs. All this causes is grief for those that don't abuse, it will make doctors scared to write pain medications for those who need them for fear of SLED coming to their office. Just another classic example of government sticking their nose in where it doesn't belong.

BTW. this bill was vetoed meaning our state legislature had to have the votes to override. I for one plan on writing concerning my displeasure,. I wonder how did Mr. Clyburn vote on this issue and how does Mr. Massey (feel) about this new law? Is this really what we need to be worried about?

The post about what students are better suited for Fox Creek and Strom Thurmond was bothersome to me.  It pretty much spelled out how Fox Creek people truly feel.  It disheartens me to see the Merriwether area churches embracing that school.  They are involved in coaching, taking positions on the board, and are often seen around the community wearing the Fox Creek “colors.”   I can’t help wondering if  people in their congregations that love and support the “other” school feel alienated.  Fox Creek does not represent  values that a Christian parent should want instilled in his or her children.  Like the previous post, kids in the Merriwether schools make comments to their peers about who goes to what school.  They openly state that all the “popular” kids go to Fox Creek, and the “nobodies” go to Strom Thurmond.  I have personally heard students bragging about attending an “all white” school, and referring to Strom Thurmond using the “N” word.  Although parents publicly state their reason for sending their children to Fox Creek is based solely on the travel time,  it is very clear that it is a “social” decision.  At Fox Creek  there have been instances of questionable board elections, dishonesty in reference to financial matters, construction, school accreditation, and drug and alcohol issues.  Churches please be mindful of your affiliation with a school that is known for social cliques, racial intolerance, dishonesty, and drug and alcohol tolerance.   Be prayerful about your witness in our community and  throughout the CSRA.  As the old folks say, “Careful . . . you might lose your witness pow'r."

How many times during this past year has something appeared in the Edgefielddaily about the County Assessor’s Office?  It is for sure the County Administrator and the County Council has not done the job they are paid to perform.  The Assessor’s Office should have a purge of incompetent personnel and replace them with people who will do what is right regardless of those who think they are special people.

Did the bosses of the County complete a review of assessments for this past year.  If so, please share the results with the citizens of the County – who by the way have every right to know.

Is it not time for the citizens of Edgefield County to hold the County Council and the employees of Edgefield County accountable for their actions and use of taxpayers’ monies.

I met a woman on the internet whose Grandfather was Lonnie day Crouch. Due to a long list of family problems, her father was estranged from this Lonnie Crouch. She has called me several times wanting me to find out about this other set of Crouches. Coud you direct me to someone who might know of this family? I have your newspaper site downloaded on my computor and have enjoyed reading your editorials and wandering minds. And I can tell you I am happy to see the school board news settle down some. We live In a small town in Mississippi,  and thankfully , we have never had this problem here. You have a very good site and I enjoy it very much. If the average American had any doubts that the folks in Washington (Senators, congressmen, bureaucrats and Capitol Hill staffers) consider themselves above the average American those doubts became reality in the past week.
It was disclosed by the news media that capitol staffers were urged to get various disease prevention shots if they planned to attend any NASCAR racing events, just in case the ones they consider beneath them were carrying any diseases.
It was an astounding news development and it served to show all of us folks out here in redneck country that we were not to be trusted when it comes to carrying diseases. This is the height of arrogance and hypocrisy, and now the bigwigs in Washington are running for cover and trying to put as much distance as they can between themselves and this repugnant bit of information.
There's something about Washington that tends to pollute body and soul, and this business about getting shots before showing up at NASCAR political rallies tells us all something and validates the suspicions the average American has about these self-serving b......s.
After hearing this news, my position is that the average American get an inoculation to protect him or her self from politicians, bureaucrats and the baggage handlers called staffers in order to protect us from them. Unfortunately, there is no shot to protect us from the stench.

Regarding the differences between STHS and FCHS AP classes:
I do not think that FCHS is teaching AP art--but it really does not matter.  What is important for students taking AP courses is that they actually learn enough to pass the AP exam.  Where can a parent find information about how effective each school is in TEACHING?  The SAT scores would indicate that FCHS is lagging in that department.
As for athletic scholarships-- a good AD will work for all students in all sports.  The ineffective coach at FCHS can not see past a leather prolate spheroid other than his ability to create zeros in the win column.

Editor's note: Fox Creek Charter High School has seen decreasing SAT scores. Last year FCCHS pulled the entire district down in overall scores.

I noticed a comment that confused me, from 11 October, about the alleged benefits of attending FCHS rather than STHS.

I don't know how many students from STHS are attending college on an athletic scholarship, but the tone of that comment implied that students from STHS have less of a chance of succeeding academically as well, which is definitely not true.

STHS may not be the "best" school, it may not offer many AP credits, but we've done well with what we were given; we're proud of our classmates who have earned athletic, academic, military, and other scholarships.  After all, it's not necessarily wise to use that AP credit during the freshman year of college.

"If your child is intelligent and college bound," STHS is at least as good a choice as FCHS.  College is not all about academics--STHS offers so much more--leadership opportunities, chances to serve the community, which is just as important.  Teachers and counselors and other staff at STHS are apparently doing something right--check out the scholarship money the class of 2007 earned.  One of us is at the U.S. Naval Academy, two others were appointed to service academies, at least one of us is on a NROTC scholarship--that's just
military awards; our classmates also earned so much more in athletic AND academic scholarships.  And we've all truly earned it with the support, teaching, and mentorship of our teachers and counselors.

Reading and watching reports of the latest school shooting has made me more aware of the troubles that
face STHS. Do public schools have to educate those that are so mentally unstable that they could cause
harm to students, faculty members, and staff? For instance, this year there is a student at STHS that
has continually threatened the lives of faculty members. The student has made direct threats to murder
teachers and bomb the school. Nothing was done to the student until a threat was made to a student. Why is
this so? Is the life of a teacher/faculty member of less value than a student? Should teachers have to
work in such an environment? These questions need to be answered by the administration, Superintendent, or
board members.

Before this year, when a student was involved in a fight that involved violent acts, the students were held accountable and arrested. This year a new edict was declared by the principal that he would decide who
would be charged in these incidents and he would decide who would face criminal charges. Smells a
little fishy to me. Maybe the administration wants to hide the true violence numbers from the SCDOE, or
those who track school violence. Maybe the principal was told by school board members to decrease the
number of reports filed on students charged in fighting incidents.

Almost anyone can walk into STHS and wander through the halls without anyone knowing. There have been many cases of strangers walking the halls and not being stopped by anyone. STHS has a full-time Hall Monitor to patrol the halls. Is this employee doing the job he were hired to do?

With this most recent case, any parent who has a son/daughter attending STHS should be concerned about
safety issues at the school. Students should be held accountable for violent actions and thrown out if they
present a danger to students, faculty members, or staff. The school needs to take a close look at the
procedures and policies it has in place to guard and protect the campus. If they don't, then STHS will be
another story on the local and national news.

If you look closely at it there may be more people in the church than you think that are looking for a change. If a man resigns from any post, he needs to stay away. You and Rev. Since that church is a 'front' for NAACP business, I think their business needs to be watched more carefully. Preaching politics from the pulpit will get a church's license jerked away if proven guilty. I am tired of watching these four church-going school board imposters using our tax dollars to promote their NAACP agenda, and using their church as a political free-zone (where they can't be touched). It is my understanding that FCHS has obtained a loan and will be building a $5+ million facility with ground-breaking this year.  All you parents who are fed up with the ECSB and the impact on our schools should consider FCHS as an alternative.  There, only parents and teachers vote for the school board.  Voting is done annually and you get one vote for each child enrolled or one vote if you are a teacher.  Teachers I have talked to, and who have taught at either North Augusta or STHS say that the educational environment, student effort, parental evolvement, and school discipline compares favorably at FCHS.   Also, if your child is intelligent and college bound, FCHS has many more AP classes than STHS.  However, if your child needs an athletic scholarship to attend college better stick with STHS.
If your child has disciplinary problems and needs a baby sitter, STHS has much more experience in that area, more places at the facility to hide out and enjoy chemicals, and a school board who will excuse wrong doing and teach children to be victims rather than self-reliant citizens.
Please reconsider  the editors comment, which is sure to follow this post (for some unexplained reason, he has a real bad issue with FCHS) and find out for yourselves what FCHS has to offer.

One warrant less search is comparable to any other when it comes to citizens. It is strange that you toss off physical searches of citizen's for no reason but protect those who have nefarious connections.

From US News and World Report.

In the dark days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, a small group of lawyers from the White House and the Justice Department began meeting to debate a number of novel legal strategies to help prevent another attack. Soon after, President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to begin conducting electronic eavesdropping on terrorism suspects in the United States, including American citizens, without court approval.  http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/060327/27fbi.htm

If one has nefarious connections - getting a warrant is easy.  If one wants to fly on an airplane, it seems reasonable to me to have a search of some kind.  This has been going on long before 9/11/01.  I may agree that at times it has gotten out of hand, but I can't imagine just parking your car and walking onto a commercial airplane without some sort of security messures in place.

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Not a chance. Have you flown in the last few years? By the time you get through the TSA they know you better than your proctologist. Do not forget this is the same government that uses your Social Security number (which was forbidden) to track every piece of information about you. Your income, property, medical history, credit history, bank accounts, census information, and a plethora of other personal information is already theirs.

Warrantless searches.  Welcome to George W Bush's America.

I am not sure a search at the airport is unreasonable.  But one's home being searched or phone being tapped without a warrant is simply straight out of the old USSR or modern day China.  It is un-American.  I'm all for security, but if one needs to tap a phone or search a house - get a warrant.

Editor's note: No US citizen is a target of the wire taps, only international targets are sought for monitoring.
One warrant less search is comparable to any other when it comes to citizens. It is strange that you toss off physical searches of citizen's for no reason but protect those who have nefarious connections.

This morning I attended the community breakfast at Johnston Elementary School. It was so nice to be greeted by such well mannered students. Everything was outstanding as far as Johnston Elementary is concerned. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Kelly and the entire staff at JES should be commended for the wonderful job they do. What was very disappointing was the fact that our new superintendent was an hour late. She stated that traffic was the cause. If she knew the breakfast was to begin at 7:30 am, she should have been there early to greet the community business leaders present. I really worry about the progress that has been made in our school district with Mrs. Rice-Crenshaw in charge.

Would you please post the actual date and time of the Strom Thurmond vs. Airport varsity football game this
week? The Augusta Chronicle has it listed for Friday, Goupstate has it listed for Thursday, and the State
has it listed for both Thursday and Friday! I have a Program that lists the game on Friday, but i have a friend who has another schedule that list the game on Thursday....the one constant is, that they have all been listed at 8pm! PLEASE HELP!!

This should be the game that decides the region title and some home field advantage in the playoffs...Airport will come into the game sporting a 6-1 record and already has region wins over Brookland Cayce, Midland Valley, and Swansea.  Their defense has only given up a total of 50 points in all 7 games combined! But, if the Rebels come to play, we have a chance....Get on out and support the Rebels (on whichever night it is)!

Editor's note: My schedule shows Thursday, our Sports writer says Friday, and the STH web site still showed last year's schedule. I have no idea why so many people are so confused... I will post the game date and time as soon as it is confirmed.

I appreciate the recent post about Bill Clyburn supporting Professor Bibbs and his underhanded rearrangement of his voting district. Any racial progress made in this county with black people put in political positions...is taking a downward spiral. This includes trust, good moral character and honesty to name a few....none of which Bibbs, Cooks and the Jackson sisters have to offer. You can probably thank these four NAACP radicals for the recent property tax increase, taking into account the ongoing reverse discrimination suit and the nice $125K wage being paid to "Loveable Dr. Crenshaw" and her top-quality educational credentials. Bibbs underhanded character fondly reminds me of Augusta's Charles Walker,(now serving 10 years in the Federal prison system). Maybe Bibb's greed will get him into the same 'educational' system as Mr. Walker. The line has been 'drawn in the sand' by the MoTown Four.....which side are youstanding on? (deleted).

web posted October 6, 2007

Since a poster seems to find such a distinction between homosexuals and pedophiles, I have come up with a new word for men like Morris, in Johnston. It's "Homophiles". A pedophile tries to molest any child, girl or boy! When a grown man is only interested in molesting young boys and not girls, he may be a pedophile but he's definitely homosexual, also. They are usually afraid, for different reasons, to approach a grown man. They convince themselves that they can control young men and keep them quiet. I think this is the case with Morris, Johnstons' resident "Homophile."
web posted October 6, 2007

My sincerest apologies for stirring up the "orange" issue. I am the one who posted the reply to Mr. Durham and I must say, I am disappointed at the people who lashed out at me for my comments. Mayor Durham is a friend and being the Clemson fan that I am, I couldn't let his public display with the council go without picking on him publicly as well. The short essay was nothing more than little good natured "ribbing" between me and Mr. Durham concerning our choice of college football teams. If you had read carefully you would have noticed the editors note at the bottom that even spelled out for you that it was simply "ribbing." It was intended to be a piece of wit, (wit: noun:  A mode of expression intended to arouse amusement. "Wit" suggests the power to evoke laughter by remarks showing verbal felicity or ingenuity and swift perception especially of the incongruous), but I guess Wandering Minds isn't ready for that kind of humor.

Now that it is official that Shane Massey will face Bill Clyburn in the general election, I want Bill Clyburn to know that I have supported him since he was elected the first time to office. But I cannot under any circumstances vote for him this time because of the recent conduct of James Bibbs and Sallie Cooks. These two have effectively erased all the gains we have made in race relations over the past 35 years. We were getting to a point in our society where the color of your skin made no difference but clearly Bibbs and Cooks vote only along racial lines. If this is what they want.....sorry Bill Clyburn.

I will also never forget that James Bibbs had a secret meeting with Bill Clyburn to make sure that Bibbs district was drawn on the map to suit his personal interest. This was a selfish motive on the part of Mr. Bibbs and he was not speaking for the school board. Nonetheless, Clyburn met with Bibbs and of course Bibbs got the district he wanted.

It is terrible things have come to this.

This is in response to the one complaining about Edgefield Mayor Ken Durham. I am one who doesn't believe in any political figure, although Mr. Durham has showed me different through his actions. I have witnessed him crawling under a house when it was on fire, being one of the first responders to a medical emergency on the town square, and being involved in the community on a daily basis. I've seen dirt on the Mayor's hands and it isn't the usual political dirt seen on most politicians hands, it's hard work dirt. A suit and tie won't make him a good Mayor, but his actions will. Maybe you should stop looking at his clothes and watch his involvement in the community. As for the recent council meeting, that was pure humor. It's sad that you found anything other than humor in that.

There is a solution to the Orange Paint Problem around the town of Edgefield. Since there is going to be a Bike Train to Trenton the paint could be used to stripe lines on it . Mayor Durham could ride his Harley and the piano player-postal worker that out jogged him to his Square could ride his bicycle and maybe the Mayor could win.His Big Boss could navigate in the sidecar with a spiked helmet on. Of course if there girlfriend-Archivist  with here spiked boots opened a Massage Parlor-Tattoo Stop it could end like the old fable. New Name:" Hair In The Chair".  The Mayor gets a Gamecock tattoo on his cheek and when he bows to The Big Boss it would stretch into a Longneck Cock and be used at the New Chicken Farm as a Logo. That would take care of the arts part of it.When they came out and there bike had been stolen be Illegal Aliens they could hitch hike (old biker custom) to Trenton. If they were lucky. They would run across Wayne Adam's that was lost from trespassing again around Trenton . He may have some old maps and ride the Big Bosses Back since he did it the hole time he was here and  find Trenton. Have lunch at the Trenton Correctional Buffet. Hijack a one way flight  at the Trenton Airport and swing out on a glider to land on the big Harley seat, if the Mexicans were through with it. Ride up the Courthouse steps to officiate "The Redneck Wedding".  It would be greater than any scene in "Every Which Way But Loose" . It could be titled" Every Which Way You Lose".Of course Wayne Adam's would have unlocked the back door so everyone could sign the register after entering through . Then they could condemn  the couples new home and take over and live happily ever after.

I heard from a resident of Saluda, that Johnstons' mayor, Willie Campbell, had been over to the Saluda Sheriffs' Office complaining about jail conditions and treatment of people arrested. What I'd like to know is what business is that of his? He can't even handle conditions in Johnston! Where does he get off thinking he has the right to speak out against law enforcement in another town and county? Could he have had a relative or friend locked up over there, who complained about their treatment or that they didn't have luxury suites for criminals? That's all this county needs, a mayor who is against police treatment of law breakers! I heard he used to be in Saluda, but he needs to realize he's not anymore. If he's that concerned about goings on in another county, he should run for office there and leave Johnston alone. Maybe he knows what those results would be. Sounds like another bleeding heart Democrat to me. Does anyone out there know more about this? I'd like to hear!

This is concerning the stretch of road between Trenton and Johnston on 121 where numerous wrecks take place and Lynn lost her life.

I work very near this spot and I pass it a minimum of twice a day.   Right where the road starts to straighten out, there is a stretch of gravel on the shoulder of the road.  I believe it is due to over time, tractor trailer trucks and regular vehicles run off the road and has shifted the dirt and made a rut.  It appears that gravel has been put in the rut(s).  You cannot easily see it due to grass growing over it, but, I myself have hit this patch of gravel, and believe me, when you hit a patch of gravel running 55 mph, you start sliding and fish tailing.  I have also been traveling towards Johnston and met a car in that spot that ran off and she was completely out of control until all 4 tires hit the pavement again.  Why can't there be about 3-4 feet of PAVEMENT in this spot?  I truly believe the gravel is making it worse!!

Could someone with DOT authority check this out before we lose any more friends and loved ones.

I don't usually get involved in politics, but a situation has come to my attention that is quite disturbing. It seems our Mayor, who doesn't even have the decency to wear a suit and tie everyday as he represents our town, has now struck again. The information that was leaked by Edgefielddaily.com about the resolution concerning the color orange, presented by Mayor Durham in the most recent council meeting, is nothing short of frightening.

I shall try to address all of my concerns as briefly as I can. First of all, I believe our Town Attorney could sue Mr. Durham on behalf of himself and the other council member who were placed under undue stress and subjected to mental and emotional harassment during this meeting. The partial list of harassment violations are as follows;

They were forced to consider a resolution which was printed with a “gamecock” on the bottom. (Which would traumatize most anyone)
They were threatened with the possibility of losing their home decorations, their vehicles, and their clothing.
They were placed under the impression that an actual blood transfusion would be necessary in order to continue living in Edgefield.
My second concern is over possible criminal activity taking place with Mr. Durham and his entourage. The very fact that the symbol placed at the bottom of this resolution was of a gamecock is disturbing. My Grandfather raised and fought roosters many years ago. It was illegal then, and still is today. Have we learned nothing from the sad saga of Michael Vick?

I believe it is time to do away with the “Gestapo” type tyranny of our Mayoral office. If Mr. Durham does not change his support of illegal “cockfighting” and his mode of dress, then we the citizens of Edgefield must call in PETA and the Fashion Network and force a few things on him.

Signed
A Concerned Citizen

I couldn't believe the writer who posted the complaint over Morris being arrested in Johnston! It appeared they were feeding excuses for him. And the part about others making mistakes in their past. Yes, I made my share of mistakes also, but none included anything close to attempted assault or sexual molestation of a youth. This person seemed very cold and unconcerned about the young man. Look at the future problems he could have caused him. That's the important issue. And then the poster had the nerve to complain about homosexuality in this country. Well, open your eyes, I guess this is one more!

RE: Homecoming Court FCHS
OK - students turn in an "application" for homecoming.  Then they have to get by the teacher "review" of the forms.  Yep - teacher pets were passed thru.  Then if there were enough in the class they were finally elected by us.  (I heard some people didn't get to vote...some people voted for more than one grade.  Is that fair?) If there were not enough in the class, everyone who wanted to be on it got on. What a joke.  Oh hey, I want to be automatically be the Queen of England, can I turn in my form?  How is that fair to people that aren't stuck up enough to fill out a form and turn it in? How is it fair to the people that are not teacher's pets?  Homecoming is supposed to be about voting and nominations by the students not the teachers. We should get to make the choice.  I hate that the underclassmen won't be walking during the game.  It was fun to shout out for your favorite from all grades.  We all ha ve friends in each grade level.  Its called pulling everyone together and not just making it totally about the seniors.  Last year each grade was able to have fun while showcasing the senior court at the same time.  I just think it is lame the way it done this year and I am not the only one.  A lot of us are upset about it.  Things just were better last year.  More spirit, more fun, more fairness and what is up with the shirt?  I am not going to the game or the dance.  Hope the "COURT" has fun.  Everything I need to see happens on Friday at the Pep Rally oh yeah - Rock and Rally day.  We aren't even wearing our school colors to school for the pep rally.  Instead we are all going to be rockers.  ROCK ON!

You can tell by the posts who has played sports and who hasn’t.  They’re the ones that always complain about what Athletic Directors and coaches do.  YES, coaches do NOT want you missing their practices.  Terry Holder, Larry Campbell (Multiple STATE Championships under their belts) or any other coach in a big school wouldn’t allow missing practice left and right for anything.  It’s not pushing sports over academics, it’s teaching commitment and how to juggle life. It’s NOT rec ball where you can make a couple practices a week and expect to start.  It’s NOT rec ball where everyone is going to play.  If you think putting JV players up against VARSITY players from a larger school is smart, man you don't know jack!  They would get killed.  Some of them are breaking hands, arms, etc. from hitting other JV teams.  Imagine if they would have been hit by a Varsity senior????  JV is supposed to do good against other JV teams like FCHS has been doing.  It's called building a program.  Schneider is a great coach and looking at the JV team (which by reading your entries, your son is) he is doing his job.  Football is the hardest sport to build.  My son(at Greenbrier) and nephew(at AC) played for Schneider.  They still talk of what he’s done for them ON and OFF the field.  They respect him tremendously.  Somebody told me about this sight and I had to defend him.  I know Schneider and his ethics/morals are outstanding.

Seeing the front page of the Augusta Chronicle about hunting in Edgefield County inspired me to express my views about the election Tuesday. It is clear that Shane Massey has been the first to state his intentions and stick to his guns. I will vote for him. It is alarming to me that Hixon stated that he does not need the Edgefield  county vote  to win.It seems that he does not have an interest in being your rep. Does this arrogance accompany the out of control developments that are harmful and out of control. The influx of people have made this a cautious community due to adult human behavorial patterns. Sexual pervision has accured from the pressures of years of openly excepting homosexuality in our communities across the Country. Many do not know who their neighbors are anymore. With a substantial increase in corn crop profit per acre it would be comforting to see our way of life and wildlife perserved for future generations through hea lthy small farms.Wayne Adams, Mayor Durham , The Big Developer, and the rest of the Planning Commission in 1999 decided that you do not have the right to vote on Zoning for your land use. Bill Hixon visited Adam's often and supported their agenda. Since this weekend is the Heritage Julibee. Think of the efforts layed down by your ancestors to secure land for your use and not theirs. It is structured like the Company Store Era. Vote to resend this evil dictatorship. Rename your stores to the Company Store Stores since your Army has taken over and is sponsoring the Jubilee. All of you  transplants can come out and see how the men in Gray fought for states and land rights. If you love this County for your use vote Massey.

This is in response to all the complaints about FCHS Homecoming.  People should not speak out until they get their facts straight.  Teachers did not select the homecoming court.  Students filled out applications that included teacher recommendation forms.  The applications were to ensure that the students on the court represented FCHS with good academic and disciplinary records.  Then the students voted on those who turned in applications to decide the final court.  I'm glad people are so involved over this but at least get the facts right before an opinion is formed.

We need to take a lesson from our tiniest citizens, they do not see black, white, hispanics etc.  They do not see rich nor poor.  They see individuals.  Without the hatred from adults teaching  discrimination in any form, these children have a chance to make a better world in which we all can prosper.  When you send out love, love returns ten fold.

Been reading all the wandering minds about the black vs. whites on the school board.  It really shouldn't surprise anyone.  Remember when three fair skinned council persons Monroe Kneece, Sam Speight and Hazel Kitchens teamed up to oust not so fair skinned T.C. McCain?  Same (stuff) different day!

what were all the drug arrests about at sths friday?

Editor's note: We have been dealing with a family crisis all weekend and I have not been able to perform my job as normal. I will have an update as soon as possible on this situation.

I heard there was a random drug search at STHS that netted several students, is this true or not? why is this kept quiet, can we the parents get an answer, principal,SRO,superintendent or school board members. To edgefield daily, i ask that you investigate and report on this story, which i think was head line news, before it can be swept under the rug.it certainly warrants more coverage than Mr Covar received.

I think we need to have a school for black people and a school for white people since nobody can get along anymore!

Editor's note: It is not the students, the teachers, parents, or the general public that has a problem. It is limited to four people. Perhaps they hope to create a problem and then blame people for reacting to the problems as a justification for having their biased problem.

Here is the latest in the Fox Creek Athletic Director Saga.  They have a couple of injured players who have regular appointments with doctors or physical therapy and he makes this comment,"These boys need to start making these appointments during school hours and quit missing practice."  WOW!  Now we know where his priorities truly lie.  Football before academics.  The really sad problem, there is nothing we can do about him.  If Ms. Bishop came to a sudden stop, it would take a proctologist to remove Mr. Schneider from Ms. Bishop and Dr. Murph from Mr Shneider.

I guess this is the only big news in a such a big town as Johnston that it has to have so much media coverage. I guess it makes a new police chief feel so important to uncover such a story or an editor of a small website so newsworthy.  But in fact both have lost their way in professional ethics. ( Innocent Until Proven Guilty) I think in this time and day you are guilty until proven innocent because when the media makes such a story over a charge by the time it goes to court 6 months later or whenever. People have forgotten because the person was guilty to start according to something written on a computer. I think cases dealing with such sensitive material should not be public outcry for the victim's or the accused sakes. I mean who knows the story to either side. I mean one could have come from a family where the father beat the mother and maybe even the children for not being good enough. Maybe after so many years a person overcomed fears of maybe failing something like military school or not being tough enough and maybe one person just needs to be somewhere getting mental help. I don't know the solution nor the public because unless we are the jury we don't have the evidence to draw such conclusions. So way involve family and friends and making their lives hard by making this a media circus. We should all evaluate our lives and what we have done in the past before casting stones. We should all read in the bible (Romans 2:1) I think a lot of people are out casting stones anymore for personal gain(John 8:7)

Editor's note: There is no personal gain by reporting the news. Several TV and print media also reported the same arrest. If Mr. Morris is found innocent it will be just as big, if not bigger, headlines. Maybe you should hold back from tossing your own stones until the trial has taken place, just as we do.

Brad Covar's revealing insider information about the School Board has revealed what many county residents
have known for a long time, there is trouble in paradise. YESSSS... I know the whites used to run the
school system and now that blacks are running it...turnabout is fair play. Stop and think as a
modern/educated/informed person that something is wrong with our school board. It's obvious, based on all the input from a diverse readership audience. All input has one constant message......frustration. Do your own research into the school board printed mandates and make an educated decision about WHO is helping or hurting our school system, and then think if you want to be part of the problem or part of the solution. I have read the printed mandates and there are a lot of Big Mistakes being made by the majority members, which ultimately will impact my and your property taxes in order to pay for all the discrimination law-suits this county will have to pay. If the editor would please print the link where the School Board mandates can be found.

Editor's note:  From a previous poster:
If you want to know the law go to http://www.scstatehouse.net and look for SC Code of Laws on the left and pull up Chapter 13 Title 8.

I lean toward those who support Mr. Scott's efforts at JET.  He's trying but he needs to watch who he huddles up with all the time. Find out what the rest of us are thinking sometimes.

The editor of this outstanding publication has stated he will never endorse a political candidate. However, before the first primiary election he posted concerning Mr. Hixon "I would not vote for him to pick up dog poop on the town square" and later " I know of 18 votes he will not get in the Merriwether area" The editor must be politically astute enough to know that this Rep. election would  end in a runoff  and his comments have to be taken as an endorsement, although indirect but influentail to his readership. To the editor's credit, he did expose a falsehood on a blogger's website.

To the readers of this post, please excuse the improper spelliing and grammer. I'm just trying to offer an alternative to what I read here.  As far as Shane "Shaking Up Columbia" - Forget it!  No matter who is elected they will be low man on the towtamm pole and won't do much for many years. Vote for the best qualified man who has the charter not to resort to mud sligning and is truly a local  with our best interests!  VOTE BILL HIXON !!!!

Editor's note: I nor EdgefieldDaily.com has endorsed a candidate:  However, when Mr. Hixon tried to claim our report on him was false, when it was in fact accurate, and then included it as an attack in his campaign literature we came out against Mr. Hixon's false statements prior to the primary. We still did not endorse and candidate for office.

The smoking around the exit doors continues around the doors.  If you have lung problems, don;t even try to go there.  Once again, will the Hospital board BAN SMOKING on Edgefield County Hospital premises.  Probably not...Best bet is to go to one of the hospitals in Augusta--they've banned smoking.  Another excuse for 150-190 employees to sit around, puffing on a cigarette, lamenting about not having any work to do...

Let's see, almost 200 employees, and gee, how many patients?  On a good day, maybe 5-8 in the hospital area and 3-5 in the nursing home area.  The really serious Emergency Room patients get shipped directly to Augusta...Is something wrong here?

Maybe we'll get lucky and get another incoherent ramble from the chain-smoking administrator in the print media...

Watchn out for the live cigarette butts when you go over there...

Tax notices are coming out soon...

Bottom line, Edgefield County schools are going down hill.....not much respect left for any of the representatives, superindent situation, officials. Hat's off to the teachers at STHS. Wish that they had a vote. It's such a shame that they don't. Many times, they are parenting other children, as my child tell me that very often occurs at STHS. Anyway, thank you for your consideration. I have only twice brought up on issue.....they has finally brought me to the boiling point. This is the 3rd. If you can't post; I will understand. I appreciate very much your thoughtfullness in journalism; other's may not see it that way. I am always open-minded.

Why does MR. HIXON, who appears to be at the age of fifty or fifty five, continue to live with his mother.

Has he ever been married?  Does he have a girl friend?  Or does he just not care for the opposite sex’s companionship.

Makes you wonder. ?????

Editor's Post: I would like say I support and agree with Councilman Kitchens' reported comments of him not being a painted white faced clown...
