I think the "dehydrated water" is a great idea. To help you get started with this new project here is a possible name for your "new" product: h2No. Good luck! web posted December 31, 2005 I wonder if the County Council will renew Mr. Adams contract before they read it this year. I can not believe that they are that stupid!! But ask them, they know it all. They certainly don't look out for all the citizens. Let's just hope that the State will pass the law to do away with property taxes. People need a break!! Editor's note: With the County Council ignoring all of the problems caused by Mr. Adams over the last few years, including his banning of EdgefieldDaily.com from county computers (ordered to revoke), trying to zone the county without telling anyone, they will probably renew his contract. Until the majority of council is removed the county will continue to suffer from the same old ideas and Mr. Adams' irresponsible actions and personal vendettas via the use of his office. web posted December 30, 2005 Are you at liberty to say what the salary of Wayne Adams is? Come on people of Edgefield County, 37% more than the mayor of Augusta, Ga. and why do we stand back and let this happen? Editor's note: Mr. Adams makes over $80,000 a year, plus "perks". The mayor of Augusta earns $56,000 to run the second largest city in Georgia. web posted December 30, 2005 woooohoooo how 'bout them tigers web posted December 30, 2005 Has there been an arrest in the chase in Edgefield Saturday morning? I didn't see it in the arrest report. Editor's note: No. Police are still looking for the individual. web posted December 29, 2005 I am so sick and tired of this queer tv stuff. I don't have a problem with gays, but what does nbc or all the other stations think when they just want to drive this (bull dung) down our throats all the time. You want ot be gay, be gay, but don't try to let a queer write a show about the church and claim it is wonderful. I just wonder if the queers would be so happy to let a Baptist minister write a show about queers and give it the same praise? web posted December 29, 2005 When will we know if KIA is going to build the new plant in Aiken? I noticed (EdgefieldDaily.com) had the story the same time the (Augusta) Chronicle did. I noticed too that they did a story on dispatchers too after (EdgefieldDaily.com) did yours. Are they reading and taking hints from (EdgefieldDaily.com)? Editor's note: The announcement of the new plant will not be made for some time. All things are preliminary at this point. web posted December 29, 2005 Keep up the good work. You are making the surrounding papers useless. I really enjoy visiting the site. Editor's note: This was not a Wandering Minds submission but part of an e-mail regarding another issue. We appreciate the confidence in our web site but feel the local papers still serve the community. We do marvel at one paper that advertises placing your ad on their web site because "location, location, location" is everything. We agree, and our web site gets more hits in eight hours than theirs gets in a month. web posted December 29, 2005 What a bummer, crash your new car on the way home. web posted December 29, 2005 I don't understand why guard rails haven't been put up on Sweetwater Road. There are some really bad spots and dangerous ones at that. When traveling this road at times when you meet those big trucks, they are flying. I guess they think they own the road. There are alot of bad spots on roads in this county. Where are the tax dollars going? Editor's note: A great deal of our local taxes go towards paying our County Administrator 37% more per year than Augusta Georgia pays their Mayor. But Edgefield County has such a much larger area, more employees and budget than Augusta so he deserves it. The man in the window looking down on Edgefield says so. Our gullible county council agrees. web posted December 29, 2005 I have my New Years resolution. I'm going to eat MORE CHEESE!!!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEARS! (I love cheese) Editor's note: ![]() web posted December 27, 2005 To the person wrote in about car chase what would you think if you and your family were coming back home from the store and was ran into and one of kids was killed? Would that speeding ticket be worth that? You already have drugs in the car do you know something you are not telling????? web posted December 27, 2005 We really enjoyed the lights. We drove around Christmas night and it was a lot of fun. There were a lot inbetween the ones listed so that made it extra nice. Thank you for publishing them. Editor's note: You are welcome. web posted December 27, 2005 In reference to the high speed chase on Saturday: I wonder why the chase was called off.....If someone chose to RUN from the police, chances are, the individual has done more than just speed. Yes it is a chance you take with any high speed chase, however, if you let this individual return home and approach him later, he has probably gotten rid of any drugs or anything else that was illegal that he may have been carrying. I don't know who made this call but I DO NOT think it should have been terminated. I know, opinions are like (rear-ends), everybody has one! Editor's note: The address of the car owner was known and he seemed to be trying to get back to the Morgan Bussey Road home. Until reports are obtained we do not know if he was taken into custody a short time later or not. web posted December 26, 2005 More Kudos for Edgefield Daily.com It is nice not to have to go out in the cold icy weather to read the news especially when I wake up a 5am. Thank you web posted December 23, 2005 Looks as if your prediction about the Tax Appeal Board was right on. The Tax Appeal Board's last ruling was in favor of the Taxpayer and "BAM!" as our friend, Emeril, would say, the whole board was terminated and replaced. ALL taxpayers need to attend at least one council meeting to witness for themselves the arrogant leaders and/or their ignorant followers as they beguile this county. Merry Christmas, Edgefield Daily and keep on keeping on! web posted December 23, 2005 In response to the internet auction, the Edgefield County Library has an extremely nice facility, with very nice employees that would have been happy to help Mr. Stephenson access that aution and bid online. web posted December 22, 2005 Wanted to be sure you knew our schedule for the holidays........... We will be closed Friday, Monday and yes, TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your taxpayers money not at work! web posted December 22, 2005 I was glad to see (EdgefieldDaily.com) carry obituaries. Are you going to be doing a page just for them? Editor's note: We are debating how to handle obituaries. Since they expire once the funeral is held archiving them seems pointless. We may just continue to list them on the main page with the daily updates. That, and other issues, will be addressed with the upgrades made after the first of the year. web posted December 21, 2005 I saw Santa and he gave me a hug. web posted December 21, 2005 Just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the work (EdgefieldDaily.com) put(s) into the website. I wish you a lot more sucess in 2006. Merry Christmas and HAppy New Year. Editor's note: Thank you. Our success depends on our readers and their personal referrals to our web site. We have bigger and better things planned for 2006 including more contests and prizes for our readers. web posted December 21, 2005 MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Editor's note: Merry Christmas to you and yours. web posted December 21, 2005 That's pretty bad when the guys guarding the bad guys becomes one of the bad guys. Editor's note: Regarding: Trenton prison guard arrested web posted December 21, 2005 Very nice site Editor's note: Thank you. Please pass our location on to others. web posted December 20, 2005 Is there anything new on (Johnston Police Chief) Butch Easler? Editor's note: No. The matter is still unresolved. web posted December 20, 2005 I really enjoy Edgefield Daily.com. Especially glad to see that obituaries are now showing. Editor's note: Thank you. We will continue to bring more news and information as we continue to expand our coverage. web posted December 20, 2005 Do you think all the senators and congressmen will be at the next (Edgefield County) council meeting about the stoplight at Bettis Academy Road? Editor's note: No. Not until you have something they want... a vote to place them back in power. web posted December 19, 2005 I just wanted to say Merry Christmas Editor's note: Merry Christmas to you and yours web posted December 19, 2005 Thank you for the story on the dispatchers. God bless them (the dispatchers) for being there. It must be a agonizing job sometimes. web posted December 19, 2005 I have a question. Is it going to snow this year? Editor's note: Doubtful. However there is a good chance that the area will get snow next year in January or February. It has snowed four of the last six years to some extent, counting one day events, during those months. web posted December 16, 2005 What is up with this cheesehead? Editor's note: Like strange lilghts in the sky, sometimes there just isn't an answer. web posted December 16, 2005 Give us another Christmas present. Where is the #2 savanger hunt picture from. Editor's note: The location is in Edgefield County. web posted December 15, 2005 We drove by some of the lights on the lights page and they were really pretty. Thank you for listing them. Editor's note: We are glad to do it. So far we estimate it would take two hours to tour the entire page. We hope more locations will come in and we will try to devise the shortest route to view all displays. Next year we will be awarding a Best Display as well as Best Christmas Tree contest (photo submitted) awards, which will be voted on by our readers. web posted December 15, 2005 I don't see how the new split of Merriwether is good. It gives all the power to the country club and subdivision people and takes it away from the big land owners. Editor's note: No it does not. The new precinct lines do not affect any of the district lines (school board or county council). It is only a matter of the precinct you cast your vote in, not the district seat you are voting for. web posted December 14, 2005 Dear Santa, I want CHEESE! web posted December 14, 2005 The story on the guy that shot the dog was horrible. What kind of a monster is he? That is just cruel. web posted December 14, 2005 Concerning the dogs that was shot Was the dog confined to the owner’s property? I.e. fence of some kind. What was the breed? Did the dog have a current rabies vaccination? Had any one complained about the dog in the past? Was the man trying to rob the house when the dogs supposedly attacked him? That would explain why he did not call the police. I have sympathy for the children as for the adults that will depend on the rest of the details. Too many idiots feel it is there right to let their pets roam free. But to be fair they can escape from the best of fences. Yes I am a dog love and do have some. Editor's note: The story gave all available information. web posted December 14, 2005 What happened to the Mark Sharrock case? Is it settled? Editor's note: No, the case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. web posted December 14, 2005 (EdgefieldDaily.com) really does give the most the soonest. I can't count how many times I've seen something going on and see it here the next day. The last was when we were coming home from Augusta and saw the cops and firetrucks going in (Murphey Village). I looked on Saturday and there it was. Editor's note: Thank you for your comments. We try to cover as much as possible but with the limited staff and contributors on reports we miss more than we report. For now. We have much bigger plans for 2006 with ways to bring you more updates, more stories and a broader content. web posted December 13, 2005 Why is it taking (SCDOT) so long to put a redlight at Bettis Academy road? Editor's note: There are several factors. One is the planned expansion of the four lane area of Highway 25 reaching all the way to the Pine House as we reported in May. Another reason is those who oversee government agencies look at their work product and plans and they are convinced they are smarter than you. Yet another is SCDOT believes they have already solved the problem, in spite of the recent four deaths since they "solved" the problem. web posted December 13, 2005 The last four pics on the scavenger hunt don't work. Editor's note: They have been corrected. We encountered an upload problem. We apologize for the delay. web posted December 13, 2005 Dear daily; I love your site and have gotten people at work looking at it also. I have found more lights at 207 peachtree street and thurmond street to look at. Thanks keep this site up and running. Editor's note: Thank you! Our continued success depends on readers like you passing our location on to friends and family. And Do not worry, we are here to stay! web posted December 13, 2005 Merry Christmas Editor's note: Merry Christmas to you and yours. web posted December 12, 2005 So they just ruled Mr. Key's death natural causes just like that? What happened to investigating a suspicious death? How can you do that in just two days? Editor's note: The Edgefield County Sheriff's Office is investigating the matter. The final report from the lab in Newberry has not been released and is not due for at least another week. All things are preliminary at this point. web posted December 12, 2005 Has Edgefield County gotten so big and important that they cant get a person to answer the phones? Come on, take the stupid computer answering thing off and just answer the (darn) phones! Editor's note: That is what makes them feel superior to you. You have to wait on them when they are the public servants. Remember, we live in a upside down world. web posted December 12, 2005 Spanish classes for county employees? Why not just round up the illegals and send them back to Mexico and solve everybodys problem? Think about it. There would be more jobs and that means lower unemployment. plus if people who actuall BELONG here had the jobs they would be paying taxes. The mexicans don't pay taxes. They just get arrested and turned loose to get arrested again. Editor's note: Actually it is a good idea. The problem is not going away and at least when we convict the illegals (of felonies) they can be deported. Otherwise they could argue they did not receive a fair trial. Some officers have stated most of them play the language gap card when they are stopped. However when the handcuff come out they learn English pretty fast and start talking. Amazing is it not? web posted December 12, 2005 I knew Mr. Key from going to Walmart in NA over the years. He couldn't hardy walk. How are they saying he went over a fence and a mile in the woods? They'll have a hard time ever making me believe he got there alone. web posted December 12, 2005 I enjoy (EdgefieldDaily.com) Editor's note: Thank you. Please pass our location on to others. web posted December 9, 2005 Thanks for your quick response on the gasoline prices. Thanks for checking into it. Sounds like gouging to me. Editor's note: See the Bi-weekly price report for more information. web posted December 9, 2005 I am a volunteer firefighter and a concerned tax paying citizen. There are certain practices that the fire commissioners are following that troubles me. Our commissioners vote on the way that money is spent and are the final say into what equipment is bought and fixed for our dept. (nothing wrong there.) But what I would like to know and I hope the rest of the county wants to know is this... Our commissioners follow a ISO rule, which means that they spend money and build stations, and buy vehicles that will lower the ISO rating, which in turn helps to lower your insurance premiums for your home. Sounds pretty nice of them huh. Well the problem that I have is that there is no money left to buy equipment that we actually need, or use, if you ask for a particular item they require a formal presentation with 3 faxed quotes and a speech as to why you want this equipment. Then they say its not in the budget, or we don’t need it. I'm a little confused because I thought the firefighters would have a pretty good idea about what they need, and it wasn’t another fire station with a fourth $250,000 fire truck, and a $50,000 brush fire truck. These items helped lower the ISO rating but took the money that we could have used to properly equip the vehicles and firefighters that we already have. To be perfectly honest we don’t even have the personnel to man these vehicles. So what I would like to know is when should our commissioners stop lowering the insurance premiums on their half a million dollar homes, and start equipping the firefighters with things they really need, like brake lights on a fire truck, or paint for a fire station, or rescue equipment that might help us save your life!!!!! sincerely, concerned tax payer. web posted December 7, 2005 Why did gasoline go up 12 cents on the gallon at the Amoco on Edgefield Main Street today? It went from 1.95 to 2.07 . What is the reason? Editor's note: There are various factors that affect gas prices. Nationwide prices are falling and oil prices also continue downward. The reason for the jump is unknown but we will talk to some retailers and other professionals to see if we can find an answer. web posted December 7, 2005 Sonny and Wanda (Seawright) deserve more than just a plaque for what they have done. They have made the (Heritage Jubilee) what it is. Mr. (Joel) Jolly has some big shoes to fill. Editor's note: Without doubt. web posted December 7, 2005 What is up with this i love cheese crap? get a life. I like to come here to read about what people think not about not some stupid jerk always yelling about loving cheese. I don't know why but I just get the feeling you are in love with swiss cheese. web posted December 7, 2005 I have a question. If you were told a story is wrong but YOU don't correct it, isn't it then your fault for the wrong thing being printed? Editor's note: No. EdgefieldDaily.com stands by the content of the story we posted. (We have not revealed the story because it has not been officially contested. If information contrary to that report is given we would issue an immediate retraction, and that will not happen) The elected official that contested the content refused to allow a retraction based on our conversation. In fact he requested the story be left as reported. It was in full disclosure that EdgefieldDaily.com revealed the story had even been contested. A fact that otherwise would have never been known in most media circles. The only true media is an honest media. web posted December 7, 2005 Thank you for the pictures of the (Christmas) parade (on EdgefieldDaily.com) and the pictures you sent me. I did not know about (EdgefieldDaily.com) until I saw you taking pictures and asked you if you would take some for me because my camera wasn't working right. To take the pictures for me and to email them for nothing is the nicest thing anyone has done for me in a long time. I just wanted to say that here. You can use my name. Editor's note: Thank you for your kind words. We will always strive to accommodate any reader's request. As for using your name, the Wandering Minds is, and will remain, an anonymous page. Thank you for the offer anyway. web posted December 7, 2005 I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the (Christmas) parade Saturday. I thought it was wonderful. I wish it would have been longer but I think someone said that people dropped out when the time was changed. It was still worth going to Edgefield to see. I think we need more things like that. Things that brings the county together for a change. I don't ever want us to lose that family feel that has always been a part of growing up and living in Edgefield County. Editor's note: Everyone who worked on the Christams Parade should be proud. web posted December 7, 2005 I keep hearing that Mark (Sharrock) was shot in the back in the thing in North Augusta. I saw it on tv. What is going on? You said that he wasn't shot in the back and now there is all this. Editor's note: We have to go by what we are provided with by local law enforcement. In this case it is the North Augusta Public Safety. The case is still under investigation and the evidence is being reviewed. We would rather wait to see the outcome of that evidence (which is not made known to the media) to be completed before addressing the situation. web posted December 6, 2005 Thanks for the live update on the (State Championship) game. By the time I get news it is weeks old. Until (EdgefieldDaily.com) came along. Thank you and way to go Rebels! Editor's note: This was a post from military personnel overseas. It was the least we could do for those who serve our county, and our country, with such honor. Semper Fi web posted December 5, 2005 It is so sad to see so many people being killed in our area so close to Christmas. What is wrong with people today? It just makes me sick to my stomach. web posted December 5, 2005 GO REBELS GO REBELS GO REBELS 2005 STATE CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! web posted December 5, 2005 I wanted to thank you for the (ALERTS!) mailings. I got the news before it was even on tv or in any other paper. I noticed that ya'll did a Sunday update this week. Are you planning on going to 7 days a week? PLease say yes. Editor's note: No. We have no plans at this time to do a seven days a week update. We made the updates on Sunday due to the breaking events surrounding the shooting on Martintown Road. We will always bring our readers the most up to date information on breaking stories no matter when they happen. web posted December 5, 2005 I heard that Mark (Sharrock) was shot in the back. A friend of mine said he saw him right after it happened and he was shot in the back. How can you shoot someone in the back and claim self defence? Editor's note: There are no indications Mr. Sharrock was shot in the back. Self-defense could not be sought if that was the case. Mr. Shehan has been released and no charges are pending at this time. web posted December 5, 2005 I thought the (Edgefield Christmas) parade was just grand. I guess all the grinch's were disappointed. web posted December 5, 2005 As you all know it is impossible to please everyone. The parade committee has worked hard on getting the Christmas parade together for the past 4 months. Since so many people have opinions about when the parade should be and how it should be done, they should volunteer their time to handle the parade in the future. From what I've seen, just be prepared to take the week off before the parade to handle late entrants, planning and final arrangements. Also be prepared to be at the parade 2 hours before and after to make sure that everything is set up and that everyone is in the correct spot and then to make sure everything is returned to the right people and that things are back in order. Oh, and to change the date of the parade you will need to contact the SCDOT several months in advance for permission to close the roads. So I guess you will need ESP too. You will also need to call the 750 or so participants who have signed up only to learn that changing the date would cause 300 participants to drop out, where as changing the time only causes 100 participants to drop out. The Christmas parade committee has done everything they can to accommodate everyone and try to have the parade before fans go to the football game. Perhaps these complainers could schedule a parade for the football team for Sunday. After all, they've had as much notice about the game as the Christmas parade committee has had. web posted December 3, 2005 Saturday morning is a GREAT time to have a Christmas parade! It will get everyone in the mood for the BIG football game. I heard through the Edgefield grapevine that the STHS Football Team was invited to attend the parade and they could use it as a SUPER SIZED PEP RALLY, but the coach has decided that it might be too much for them. What a shame...would have really been fun, but Coach knows best. The committee for the parade should NOT be blamed for the change. It also turns out that the STHS Band would not be able to attend the parade EITHER day. It takes a lot of work to handle and plan the parade each year. Whoever does this planning and execution should be commended for volunteering and their hard work. Hope everyone will join in the fun that is intended for the day. web posted December 3, 2005 aint nobody ever gonna make me belive (all local politicians) aint as crooked as a creek. it just makes you feel like you cant do nothing. Editor's note: The first question that needs to be asked is do you vote and do you talk to your neighbors who agree with you and encourage them to vote? If you feel your representative is not honest you, and your neighbors, need to vote them out of office. The only have power they have is the power you allow them to have. web posted December 2, 2005 Nobody will get hit when they are all sitting behind the liquor store. They are minding their own business, You should be more worried about the people that are leaving the wine and cheese parties in uptown Edgefield. Leave the little people and the history of Edgefield alone. web posted December 2, 2005 I think it is great the congressman confessed (assumed story) to taking bribes. Saves us a lot of money. Now they should go after everybody who GAVE him a bribe. Isn't that illegal too. web posted December 2, 2005 The problem with Fox Creek High School is someone forgot to notify the “select few” they weren’t queen and that wasn’t their private kingdom. What they need to do now is clean their house before someone cleans it for them. They may find if they don’t, they have no faculty by the school years end willing to work for them. That would be a real shame considering the magnitude of sacrifices the faculty has already been forced to make to cover the inexperience of their school board. web posted December 2, 2005 I believe that the Edgefield Christmas Parade should have be rescheduled to Sunday afternoon so that the STHS football team could be included. Yes I know that the parade had been planned long before anyone even thought they would be playing for the state championship. But take a look at Lincolnton Ga., they are having a parade just to congratulate and recognize their players for going to the state championship. Come on Edgefield let's get with the program!!!!!!!!!!! This could be the perfect opportunity to put some life back into the town. web posted December 2, 2005 I want CHEESE for Christmas! I LOVE CHEESE! Editor's note: It just goes to show that some people like cheesy gifts. web posted December 1, 2005 I wanted to thank you for the play by play page last week (of the Lower State Championship game). Will you be doing the same thing this week for the big game? Editor's note: Yes. We had several e-mails towards the latter part of the season asking how readers could get real time updates from over seas or out of town that we did the scoreboard page during the game. Users of EdgefieldDaily.com do have to refresh (or reload) the page every couple minutes to receive the latest updates. The biggest reason for doing the scoreboard was the request from service members from our area serving over seas. web posted December 1, 2005 Wouldn't it have been more appropriate to have the Edgefield Christmas parade on Sunday afternoon, so the STHS Rebel Champions could have ridden in it? I do believe you would have more attendance rather than Saturday morning when everyone is getting ready to leave for Columbia. Editor's note: The parade was planned long before anyone knew the Rebels would be in the championship game. The game is at 8:00 pm so that leaves more than enough time to enjoy the parade and still have time to prepare to leave and arrive before the game. web posted December 1, 2005 Editor's post: Heard on Jay Leno Saddam's trial got underway today and he remained defiant in spite of being thrown out of power. A lot like Democrats in America... To the person who posted the comment ,"People always think they have the answers. A red light at hwy 25 and Bettis Academy would cause many more deaths a years. am aware that the intersection has a history, in return I reduce speed and watch while passing. Sometimes change is not the best thing." If you checked your facts, you would read that most of the people who wreck at this site are not from Edgefield and probably unfamiliar with the stop sign. I don't see where a red light would make much of a difference, it is still and unexpected stop, however a caution light or speed bumps would help a lot. One death is to many. We can't depend on others to be cautious. Change may not always be the "best thing" but ignorance is always a bad thing. web posted November 30, 2005 Thanks web posted November 30, 2005 Are the shootings over the last two weeks related to gangs? My kids say it is. Editor's note: At present there are no connections to any of the recent shootings other than people being free to be as dumb as they want to be. web posted November 30, 2005 GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WIN STATE!!!!!!!!!!! Party at Gamecock Club Half Scholarship Parking Lot!!!!!!! web posted November 30, 2005 I wish someone would do something about all the water that gets in the road at Strom Thurmond and JET when it rains. It is worst at JET. I've almost wrecked many times by the flood of water that comes down in the road when it rains on my way to work. Who can I call about that? Editor's note: The first person that comes to mind is Howard Gibson with Edgefield County Building and Planning who also wears the hat of Roads and Bridges. He can be reached by phone at 803-637-4073, fax 803-637-4088, or can be e-mailed at hgibson@edgefieldcounty.sc.gov web posted November 30, 2005 I herd one of the people in the wreck on Columbia Road (Friday night) was killed but haven't seen anything about it here. Is that true? Editor's note: No. Though parties involved were injured none resulted in a death. web posted November 30, 2005 What do you get a man who has everything for Christmas? Editor's note: Penicillin? web posted November 30, 2005 What the hell is going on with people around here? Every week someone is getting shot or killed. Makes me want to put my gun rack back in my truck. Editor's note: An armed society is a polite society. web posted November 30, 2005 I am a new reader and I have to say I differ with some of your opinions and political stances. I do enjoy the news side of (EdgefieldDaily.com) and have become a regular visitor and will continue to visit each day. I'm not sure where I should address the differences I have with certain issues. Editor's note: Thank you. We all hope yours was enjoyable as well. web posted November 29, 2005 WOOF WOOF WOOF! How BOUT THEM DAWGS! web posted November 28, 2005 To the gamecock fan, don't wont to hear any excuses oh we got a new coach and all the setbacks fact is Clemson WON again and will keep on winning. So we have bragging rights for another year and we can say all the jokes we want and if yall ever win yall can do the same. GO TIGERS web posted November 28, 2005 The rant about Carol Brown should be addressed to the magistrate judges in the county. He has been arrested by city and county officers numerous times for a varying degree of crimes, but only receives a slap on the wrist web posted November 24, 2005 I read all day on your reports on the (man) that shot them people at the Huddle house. I got there right after it happened and see the two guys that got shot all the time. They are there everyday. I aint never seen two men pray over a cup of coffee before but they did. I hope that son of a (female dog) fries in hell. Editor's note: You must be understanding first and foremost. There had to be a reason for this madness and it obviously lies within the social realm of society. In that, we have to examine what it is in the general make-up of the individual that was used by society that pushed him to this extreme reaction to the oppressive reality of American freedom. Then, and only then, can we understand what drove such a normal person to do such a thing against society as a direct result of our own failure to understand the mind of such an oppressed individual as him. God forbid that he should be tried, found guilty, and summarily executed. Of course with a million dollar defense that a working man could not get he will tie the courts up for years. Where was a deer hunter who was locked and loaded getting breakfast when you need him? web posted November 23, 2005 Did (the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office) make arrests in the shooting on Sunday yet or was that story bumped off the front page with the new shootings? Editor's note: No, the Sheriff's Investigators did double duty today searching for the suspect in the recent shooting and rounding up those involved in the Sunday shooting. Look for a report on those involved by Thursday and an exclusive link of the event on EdgefieldDaily.com. We will continue to bring you the latest and most up-to-date information on all events, including our exclusive ability to provide video. web posted November 23, 2005 This is for the person who tried to tell the Clemson joke about what the tiger ate for dinner. Perhaps you could turn on your spell check before you try to rant about your winnings. Our team played well this season despite all the setbacks that we have had and the addition of a new coach. Make no bones about it, ya'll tigers had better get ready for next season now. It won't take long to change those Gamecocks around to one butt-kickin team! web posted November 23, 2005 I see where Caroll Brown has been arrested AGAIN. How many times does this make? I know a lady he assulted while she was walking down the street. I went into McDonalds and he was in there cussing and harrassing the workers. This man is going to cause a good man to go to prison. Please Edgefiled County Sheriff...do something about him before he hurts an innocent person. web posted November 23, 2005 I have lived in Edgefield for a few years now and it has come to my attention that you people have nothing better to do than worry about how you can critique the police dept. It seems to me you people can't stand the thought of authority in your lives! Everytime something happens you don't like, you run to your councilmen and whine. LET THE POLICE DO THEIR JOBS! To the ignorant people whining about the police "hiding" on a STATE maintained right of way of Hwy 25, you need to get a life! If it were me I would want the police on my property! (unless I had something to hide)##### web posted November 23, 2005 I was told for some time that my tour group should visit Edgefield because it was historic. When we came into the town limit, we weren't sure where to go. We considered stopping at a Philips 66 gas station for directions, but were frightened by several young men dressed in “thug” attire loitering around the door. We continued on until we found the police dept, but to our disbelief, there were no cops there to assist us. After pulling out of the PD, we were nearly hit by two vehicles driving at approx 70mph down the Main st blaring loud rap music. We began to wonder what the police were doing with all this trouble going on out in plain sight! When we finally made it to the "historic" square my group and I were shocked to find officers socializing with business owners!! When I informed the officer of the problems we encountered, he politely explained that officers had to finish walking around the square to make sure no crimes had occurred on the square before investigating the drag racing and suspicious persons that we had just witnessed. I was also told that police were required to make sure business owners remembered to lock their own doors at night! I decided that we had seen enough of the "history" in the town and started back home. I will be contacting the Chief to find out why the police are on the Sq. walking and talking instead of stopping crimes. I feel sorry for the rest of the towns' citizens who become targets when crooks see the cops are out of their cruisers chatting with antique store owners. I will also pass this discovery along to other tour groups so that they may avoid the dangerous town of Edgefield. Editor's note: We would hope your visit to Edgefield was an isolated event. From our experience with Chief Carter and his department they are very observant and unafraid to address criminal activity in the town. Your concerns, if made known to Chief Carter, will be addressed without question. web posted November 23, 2005 I could not believe Edgefield County has shootouts. What is going on around here? Have people just lost their minds? Editor's note: Yes. It is called crack cocaine and it is going to be the ruin of many of our youths and young adults. web posted November 22, 2005 I really enjoyed the piece on political correctness. I agree with every word. Please keep up the good work. Editor's note: Thank you for your kind words. web posted November 22, 2005 This is a fantastic website. Editor's note: Thank you. Who's laughing now funny man? web posted November 22, 2005 how 'bout them tigers...........it was a good defensive game as i was expecting but i am glad that CLEMSON won. on the bright side of things both teams will go on to a good bowl game instead of down the toliet bowl... web posted November 22, 2005 All this talk about the liquor store property and it being posted made me wonder what are the easement laws in town? Out in the county it is something like 25 to 30 feet from the center of the road. I noticed the posted sign was hanging on a tree next to the road, if that was the correct sign. Editor's note: The whole situation, as I gather, seems to be not worth the trouble and attention. There are far bigger problems confronting both the Town of Edgefield as well as the county than to expend so much effort on something so trivial. web posted November 21, 2005 First off this matter has been settled, between the owner of the liquor store and Cheif Carter. To those who just can't seem to mind their own business, parking behind trees is hiding, and if you would check the times of the citations you would see they were not only after the store is closed ,the store is open from 8 a.m.until well after 7 p.m. there is a grocery store attached. The customers of this store are some of the finest in this county the property was posted because it is private property and that is their right. Evidently the writer has never asked these folks for anything because if you had ,you would know they go out of their way to help all people.Just for the record all cusomers of the store are not drinking or buying alcohol. Some of the finest tomatoes and produce can be bought there. It also has the coldest sodas in town.Everyone is welcome so please stop in sometimes.Bye ya'll web posted November 21, 2005 In reference to the Police Officers sitting at the liquor store property. The officers are not hidding they are very much in plain sight. Usely when the officers are in this location it is at night when the business is closed. I think before you make comments about this you should check with the courts and see how much crime has been stopped in that area like DUI's, Drugs, and others. Also since the officers has been sitting there has any of those business been broke into. There has been more wrecks in that area due to people leaving the business then what the officers could ever cause. It seems funny that the officers has been sitting in that area for many years and all of a sudden the owner is posting his property. I wonder if this is cause one of his friends has been charged with a major crime or something. Also about the people sitting out by the business. There has been some major people arrested from this location for drug charges and other stuff. If you checked your local papers and use your public right you could see all of this in black and white.I just think you should check your facts before you go about supporting or putting down anything.Let the Police Department do it's job stop harassing the depts. web posted November 19, 2005 You got 'em Editor.....paper to view :>) That's a good un. web posted November 19, 2005 The guys that sit behind the liquor store are not bothering anyone. They get together and have fun. They are not on the main street nor are they stumbling in the road. I don't understand why people just can't or won't mind their on business. I have known the owners of the store all of my life and you could not meet a finer set of people. They are a family-owned business and I know that when you go in their stores they are nice to you. So to all of you that don't like to see those guys sitting there just look the other way at all the junk cars. I don't blame the owner I believe that our Edgefield finest got enough to do besides parking there. web posted November 19, 2005 I remember when there were no red lights at the intersection of Hwy.25 and Hwy.19 ( near Billy's Superstore and the Pinehouse). There were several wrecks and a couple of them fatal to the best of my memory before they put a light there. The last person to be killed there was a prominent Trenton woman. Our representatives need to take notice that the intersection of Bettis Academy Rd. and Hwy 25 is very dangerous and needs immediate attention. web posted November 18, 2005 GOOOOOOOO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE gameCHICKENS Editor's note: It should be a great game no matter who wins. I am pleased that it will be on ESPN2 rather than pay-per veiw. The reason it was changed was because Clemson fans did not know which paper to view ... web posted November 18, 2005 This is response to acomment I saw in your "Wandering Minds " section. The local liquor store owner has no desire to stop the local police from enforcing the traffic laws in Edgefield. They would like for them to stop HIDING on their private property and be more cautious in the manner in which they go after people. They cut oncoming traffic off,and nearly cause accidents themselves. As for the 10 to 20 people sitting OUTSIDE the store visible from the road. They are not on Main Street causing problems, they minding their own business, on private property. There have been several attempts to contact Cheif Carter try to solve this issue ,he has so far been unavailable. All we want is for them to do is be respectful of the property and people. The land in question is posted. web posted November 18, 2005 what kind of department would give an officer a weapon that the number ground off? and what kind of officer would take it?? again looks like mayberry!!!!!!!! Editor's note: It is perfectly legal to do so according to state law. Issuing a gun with no serial number is not looking far into the future in the event the weapon was stolen, such as was the case of Aiken Sheriff Mike Hunt recently. With no number to trace the gun by it would be impossible to place it on the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) as stolen. web posted November 18, 2005 If you were the owner of a liquor store and that was your primary income, would you want to run the intoxicated persons off of the property or would you let them sit there and drink more? Just be careful when you round that corner because they might be staggering around in the road. It probably would not hurt them but it might mess your vehicle up. web posted November 18, 2005 Why does a local liquor store owner want to keep police officers from enforcing traffic laws near the store and adjacent property on hwy 25? It seems; however, that it's common for 10-20 intoxicated persons to hang out behind the store visible from the roadway. Sound suspicious to me.. Editor's note: Could you be a little more vague? web posted November 17, 2005 People always think they have the answers. A red light at hwy 25 and Bettis Academy would cause many more deaths a years. Yes it is a dangerous place, but people just have to be more careful and watch what is going on around them. I am aware that the intersection has a history, in return I reduce speed and watch while passing. Sometimes change is not the best thing. web posted November 17, 2005 I read a lot about the crimes in our area and just have to wonder how many (Sheriff's Deputies) are on duty at one time. As bad as it may sound it seems like there is a lot more crime than the we are being told about until (EdgefieldDaily.com). Editor's note: We report very little of the actual reports of calls deputies respond to. Most of the time there are three or four deputies on duty depending on the call history. Investigators are on duty 24 hours a day. To properly cover the county it would take five patrol deputies and a floating supervisor per shift. web posted November 16, 2005 How many more people will have to be killed before there is a red light put at the intersection of Hwy. 25 and Bettis Academy Rd.? DOT keeps saying that there is not enough traffic to warrant one but isn't one life lost one too many? Where are our representatives and what is their position on it? web posted November 16, 2005 Really great site. Thank you. web posted November 15, 2005 I've only been reading (EdgefieldDaily.com) for about a week and think this is wonderful! I saw a poster about the page at a store and checked it out and check it everyday. This is better than the paper. Editor's note: Thank you. Please pass out location on to others in your e-mail address book. web posted November 15, 2005 I saw the wreck on hyw 25 Sunday. That was so sad. They really need to put a red light there. web posted November 15, 2005 GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and also congradulations to the gamechickens. web posted November 15, 2005 To the guy who was bragging on the bulldogs. How 'bout them dogs now? If they lose to Kentucky that would make USC tops in the SEC East wouldn't it? Editor's note: That is up in the air. However Carolina can do no worse than a tie for second in the SEC Eastern Division and they have moved up from #35 to #19. Georgia continues their freefall in rankings. web posted November 14, 2005 What happened to the promise (by the Planning Commission) to take (all zoning) slow? Editor's note: They lied. web posted November 14, 2005 If I remember correctly Mrs. Horne stated in one of the local papers that she would not leave Edgefield County until zoning was passed. I don't see why she doesn't leave. I am so tired of these outsiders coming in here and condeming our County. A lot of us have lived here all of our lives, and love the county. It has always been a farming county and should remain that way. Where do these people think their food comes from? The way I see it, if they don't like this county MOVE!! We were all quite happy before they got here. As for Mr. Adams, he doesn't have a clue about how people feel about him. He is just a yes man for a few powers that be. He's too stupid to see he is being used. web posted November 14, 2005 Is everyone happy with our Representative in the State House? I almost never see Rep. Clyborn except come election time. Editor's note: Is this true for just him or all area Reps? web posted November 11, 2005 THANK YOU ! THANK YOU!! I got turned on to this site by my daughter. Finally we have someone who is not scared of the "powers to be" in Edgefield. Keep up the good work. Editor's note: Why fear truth? web posted November 11, 2005 It seems as if the Rebels and the Gamecocks have a lot in common with their football teams. They have a hard time keeping players on the field, because they are being arrested. Editor's note: Seems to be a fact. web posted November 11, 2005 A friend turned me on to EdgefieldDaily(.com) and I have been going back and reading your past articles. The one that caught my attention was the one about (the Town of) Edgefield giving police officers a $500 a year raise. All I can say is wow, a whole $9.62 a week. I thought that was bad until I read that the town has enough money to run for a year without any money being paid in. How any of our officials can walk down the street after that should be run out of town. That aint a raise, that's a slap in the face. I'd tell them where they could stick their $10 a week. web posted November 10, 2005 Is the former councilman messing around with married woemn? Editor's note: No, none would have him. However confrontations he has seem to always be directed at the women rather than towards the men. Then when the men confront him he runs, hides, and calls the police to protect him. web posted November 10, 2005 I'm wondering if the football player at STHS who was arrested for coming to school intoxicated on Monday be allowed to play football on friday "Let's see how STHS handle this one. UGA fan Editor's note: We had hoped to come away with one win from the two games, and that was being hopeful. It seems Carolina may be a bit more powerful than they are given credit for. Look out Clemson! Bowl Bound Gamecocks are riding high! Georgia will have their hands full this week. Good luck! web posted November 8, 2005 why do people dump their trash on shortcut rd at the end by Stephen's rd and in the wbbq tower field they dump trash, appliances, when their is the dump right down the road, if I see you I will get your tag # and call the police I guess the are in so much of a hurry, by the I enjoy your web site. web posted November 8, 2005 What have you heard about butch easler seems like Campbell is not saying much? It must be more to it than first reported. again dont believe everything the mayor is (saying). Everybody around Johnston wants to know? We all cant wait until April to get Campbell gone. Editor's note: The official word on Chief Easler remains as last stated. It is expected that a determination by the Johnston Town Council may be made on Monday night. Rumors say the Chief has been vindicated and others say he will face charges. We prefer to wait on the official word before taking a position. Regardless of the situation the actions of Cheif Easler are those of Chief Easler and not those of Mayor Campbell. web posted November 7, 2005 why do people dump their trash on shortcut rd at the end by Stephen's rd and in the wbbq tower field, they dump trash, appliances, when their is the dump right down the road, if I see you I will get your tag # and call the police I guess the(y) are in do much of a hurry, by the (way) I enjoy your web site. web posted November 7, 2005 In reference to Ken Durham running for Mayor. I guess it's here we go again with the mud slinging. But I would be willing to bet that those who are slinging the mud don't actually know Ken Durham or the good he has done for the community. Before you sling mud, why don't you confront the man personally! EdgefieldDaily.com really is as it happens. I passed the wreck with the schoolbus on the way to work then read about it when I got there. We barely have the money to educate the kids but we have to have baseball, softball, volleyball, football, golf, swimming and any and every "click" suggested sport. Trying to get the little click that runs things to do something about it is useless. If you disagree with anything you are just ignored. I am ready to pull my (child) out. Editor's note: Nobody right now. You are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. There is more to the story than we are able to disclose at this time involving the money. It is unclear at this point even with a conviction who would retain the money. web posted November 2, 2005 I'm appalled for the first time ever the varsity and J.V. cheerleaders cheered together at half time It's called rubbing your nose in it. web posted November 2, 2005 US Mail posting I just have a hard time believing a 6 point buck had a base of 5 inches. That's a great way to get the county sued. Don't they have to warn people about stuff like that? Editor's note: John's Road is no longer under the control of the county. Developer Bettis Rainsford owns the road and any liability for accidents resulting from his actions. The road has not been labeled as private or closed and any legal actions resulting from injuries or damages due to his actions are his and his alone. It is a wonderful way to keep up with what is going on in the area. The Augusta Chronicle gives so little coverage of our area and (EdgefieldDaily.com) fills that void. Thank you for everything you do! Editor's note: Thank you for reading! So now who should (President) Bush replace her with? Editor's note: Former California Supreme Court, and now Federal Court of Appeals Judge Janice Rogers Brown. For once America wants a jurist who will not “interpret” the Constitution but have the basic knowledge to read it and use it as the guidepost to measure all law by as it should be as stated in the Editorial October 18, 2005 you refer to. web posted October 28, 2005 My wife and I were at dinner at the Edgefield Grill with another couple several weeks back and we began talking about things that had been going on around the county. I have to say I always thought I had a pretty good idea of what goes on having lived here my whole life and that is over 50 years. Our friends began telling us about things and they kept talking about (EdgefieldDaily.com). I had no idea how anyone could know that much about things that I had no knowldge of even taking place. Then I read (EdgefieldDaily.com). My wife set the internet so (EdgefieldDaily.com) is our homepage. I read it every day before I go to work with my cup of coffee. Thank you for the service you provide. It is hard to adjust to reading a computer and not a paper. Editor's note:Thank you for your kind comments and for making EdgefieldDaily.com your Home Page! Our readership had grown based on word of mouth and e-mail referrals. All we ask is you tell others about our location. web posted October 28, 2005 Thank you for informing the citizens of this county about the constant crime and drug problems in the area. People need to know what goes on after the sun sets on their picture perfect communities and that deputies and officers in Edgefield (County) are worth every cent they are being paid! Editor's note: We report very little of the actual criminal reports, interviews, and calls we follow each day. It is not as if the county is plagued with crime, which is actually down compared to population growth, but the criminal element is everywhere and drugs are becoming a bigger problem at younger ages. Under staffing creates a situation where law enforcement is forced to be reactionary more than proactive in responding to crime. The county would have to provide an additional six Sheriff's Deputies just to catch up to current population/officer accepted ratio. The county is spending over $300,000 to add on to Bettis Park, but cannot find the money to provide the deputies to make it safe. A cart in front of the horse mentality. web posted October 28, 2005 I was really touched by the story on the cub scouts. People don't give them credit for what they do most of the time. Do these kids not understand to participate in sports is a privilege not a right? Back in my day if a student got in trouble with the law...you were off the teams for the remainder of the year. Nowadays, you can do what you want and still participate in sports. And we wonder what is wrong with the kids. Acutally...it wouldn't have been the coaches decisiion...it would have been my parents and I wouldn't have been able to participate because my butt would have been too sore. web posted October 22, 2005 (pm) I can't wait to see how other schools in the CSRA (Greenbier High School) disciple their athletes who have been charged with a serious crime. Strom Thurmond High School take note! web posted October 22, 2005 (pm) A friend of mine e-mailed me a story on (EdgefieldDaily.com) and I took some time to browse the website. I was impressed. I had no idea there was a place to garner so much of what does not get printed in our local papers so easily. I have become a regular reader and wish you well in your endeavors. Editor's note: EdgefieldDaily.com hopes to provide the most current updates on events in our county as they happen. Our growth depends on word of mouth endorsements. We thank you for being a part of that growth! Please pass our location on to others. web posted October 22, 2005 While attending a football game on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, I noticed a cheerleader sitting out of the game. I asked someone why she wasn't cheering; they said she had been in a verbal altercation with a fellow cheerleader. Her punishment was to dress out and sit out for the remainder of the football season. My question is why a football player (committing) a felony charge of threatening the lives of two police officers is allowed to continue to play as a starter after only being made to sit out one game. I feel that to have an athlete sit out 1 or 2 games to learn a lesson for unacceptable behavior is appropriate, but to have a student dress out and sit out for the remainder of the season is nothing but public humiliation. I would like to think that Principle Greg Thompson is not in his line of work to make children feel small about themselves. Editor's note: We have been unable to reach Principle Thompson on this matter. We will continue to follow up. web posted October 22, 2005 FAX posting Edgefield needs a newpaper like this. The comment by STH Principle Greg Thompson were Jones Would be suspended from play in any sport, only Apply to cheerleaders. Commit a felony you play football. (A) cheerleader had a verbal disagreement with (a) classmate and was suspended from cheering the rest of the football season. I see so much of wrong things at the school I had to vent! web posted October 22, 2005 US Mail posting i just saw today the best restraunt in (Johnston) has gone out the sawyer alley ,but as our great mayor states Johnston is growing he better wake up by the time the town gets through settling all the law suits Johnston will be gone. as for Mr. Willis suit as the Aiken paper stated he just won his suit, johnston will be paying him next and they just lost another officer wake up people the mayor tells good stores but can not fix the problem web posted October 22, 2005 Below are some quick thoughts on today's Wandering Minds insert. Re: I saw last weeks Citizen News and noticed that they had the story on the preacher that molested a little girl and (EdgefieldDaily.com) missed it. What's the mater? not the "as it happens" paper you claim? the article said that the arrest took place 19 Aug. the delay in reporting the story and the use of "Apostle" in the headline speak for itself. I do not know Christopher Cole but it clearly looks like another pot shot at Christianity. web posted October 21, 2005 I live on Buncombe Street here in Edgefield and was excited to see some work done on the street. What are they doing? Will the whole street be newly paved and the sewage system repaired? Maybe new sidewalks? We are in the city limits and seems like they would include us in the beautification project.....which reminds me......When are they going to clean up the junk cars and constant eyesores from the trusel to the IGA? I have family and friends that visit often and I am so proud of Edgefield but yet they always ask why the entrance to our city looks so bad. I also want to thank you for this site. I visit everyday. Thanks for a way to express our opinions without all the hassle. web posted October 21, 2005 I saw last weeks Citizen NEws and noticed that they had the story on the preacher that molested a little girl and (EdgefieldDaily.com) missed it. What's the mater? not the "as it happens" paper you claim? Editor's note: We were made aware of the arrest within hours of it taking place. We prefer to wait on most criminal sexual conduct cases involving minors until they are more active so not to draw attention to the victim or in the event they turn out to have no physical evidence, as many do. There are cases in which we would report them, however this was not one of the exceptions. The jump seemed to be an attempt at sensationalism in our opinion. web posted October 20, 2005 What is going on with the problems in Johnston police? Is Sled going after another officer? Are they going to fire him too? Editor's note: We have been following this developing situation closely. To be correct, Chief Easler has not been fired, he is on a suspension with pay until the matter against him is resolved. We cannot comment on the information we have at this time in the second matter. web posted October 19, 2005 The story about the little boy shooting his first dear was great. It reminded me of when I was a little boy and got my first deer. I weren't 8 more like 14 but it sure made me think way back. Stuff like that didn't make the paper back then. I aint got no boys, just son in laws so I never got to do that. Thats the kind of thing that just sticks in a kids mind. Editor's note: We enjoyed being a part of it. We will post any hunting sucess provided to us. web posted October 19, 2005 I just knew the winner of the ugly dog contest would be on (EdgefieldDaily.com) on Monday. I was wrong. I figured that was something you would cover for sure. Why not? Editor's note: Dr. Lewis did send us photos from the contest, however that was organized and promoted by The Edgefield Advertiser and Dr. Lewis. We felt it would be unethical to post their work before they printed it. web posted October 18, 2005 I wanted to thank you for the coverage you gave us (Heritage Jubilee) and letting people know the change in location. There was no way we could get the message out to as many people as (EdgefieldDaily.com) could reach. Thank you for keeping our announcement at the top of the web site each day. Editor's note: It was our pleasure. Any public service we can provide for any organization or group is welcomed. We enjoyed the setting at Kendall Mill as well. Congratulations on a job well done! web posted October 18, 2005 I think it is a shame (a man) can have all those junk cars at the old hourlong (Herlong?) building and the building it self looks just as bad as the old flower mill but look at the kin people (he) has on councel.you bet if you have one old car in your yard the police are coming looks like two standers again i hope the wake up and put someone new in office web posted October 18, 2005 The people who are trying to smear Mayor Campbell because the town doesn't do things forget he has only one vote. If you want to pitch a (female dog) about it blame the whole bunch of them. web posted October 17, 2005 There was a wreck on Martintown Rd Friday afternoon and I met one of your reporters and he told me about (EdgefieldDaily.com) and I have spent all weekend trying to catch up on what I missed over the last few months. I don't know why this isn't in the papers but our family is hooked. We told some of our friends and they said the same thing. Editor's note: Thank you! 99% of our growth depends on reader referrals. web posted October 17, 2005 I read the stories on the child molester case. I don't know if he did it or not, I wan't there, but if they had no evidence to back up the claim how did he get convicted? That's pretty scary to think that all it takes is a kid saying you did something and end up in jail for life with nothing to back it up. web posted October 17, 2005 I just wanted to say my piece on something that just burns my (rear end) and that is these latex wearing bike riders that think our back roads are thier playground. The roads they want to ride are roads with hills and curves and narrow. I talked to a bunch of them and most are from Augusta. If the city is so great and growth of everything is so great, then why are these jerks comig over here messing up me trying to get to town? Dont all the area cities have these million dollar bike paths? Get off my (darn) road! web posted October 17, 2005 in reference to (D)ean Campbell running for mayor you would think by him winning by such a small margin both times he has won wouldn,t you think he would get the message??? anyone that is interested in running sould talk to each town employee that is not in campbells click and you will see what they all think of superman.it is a power thing for this little man and his wife right Mr. mayor? web posted October 17, 2005 In response to the individual who blames Mayor Campbell for all of the problems in Johnston; 1/2"! That is the distance from the "A" key to the "Caps Lock" key. Practice moving your pinky from one to the other and refrain from further posts until you have mastered this fundamental move. As for the Mayor, if you think a monkey could do a better job, then go ahead and announce your candidacy. web posted October 15, 2005 You got people talking, i'll give you that much. web posted October 15, 2005 I would like to comment on the (earlier comment) about Johnston's so called Mayor Campbell. First off he has done some things to help the town, but not to many in my eyes. As far as the police dept. goes we might as well be Mayberry---except for 1 or 2 officers that I will keep their name hush hush at this time. We have lost to many officers because Campbell and the so called Chief of police that it is unreal, and I have heard this out of their own words...I am with the person that gave his comment before I did, I WILL NOT be voting for Mr. Campbell for his next term. Another thing is that he will not let any more wrecker business's come into the town, but he will continue to let the old flower mill stay where it is at and become somewhat of a landfill it seems like. I also noticed that beside the Coastal Station there seems to be another landfill going in as I saw lots of concrete and asphalt being pilled up, and he said that he was or had beautified the town w ell maybe he needs to ride the streets of the town a look a little closer because having all that make it look nasty in my opinion. Well thats all for now, but i will write back later on. web posted October 15, 2005 Thank you for the information the change of location of the Heritage Jubilee’s. You have given this county more information with one click of your mouse then the County Council has in a year of “Public” Meetings. Ignorance in not bliss, it is self-centered. Editor's note: We will always place any Public Service Announcement as soon as we can free of charge. web posted October 14, 2005 I THINK CAMPBELL IS THE REASON JOHNSTON IS IN THE MESS THEIR IN HE STATES NO ONE HAS EVER COMPLAINED ABOUT HAS HE FORGOT ABOUT JUDGE PARKMAN COMPLAINING TO COUNCIL AND THE TIMES SHERIFF DOBEY HAS COMPLAINED TO HIM ?????I WOULD NOT VOTE FOR THIS SO CALLED MAN A MONKEY COULD DO BETTER. JUST LOOK AT THE LAWSUITS THAT ARE PENDING.....I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW EVERYONE ELSE FEELS???? web posted October 14, 2005 I went down John's Road the other day and there was a ditch dug across the road with no warning. I know (the county council) agreed to close it but if someone hits that ditch (the county) is going to be sued for a ton of money. Editor's note: The road has been closed and is the property of Bettis Rainsford. If anyone gets sued for not marking the road closed or digging the ditch it will be him, not the county. web posted October 13, 2005 Altlanta needs to fire Bobby Cox. His ignorance cost us another World Series chance. Editor's note: We do not follow pro baseball and will not until every single player that went on strike and stopped the World Series several years ago is no longer playing. web posted October 13, 2005 I've heard what gets said by (county officials) and (certain developers) who think homes being built is how you build a tax base. Do they think we are stupid or are they just so (dang) stupid that they think that? Everyone knows you can't build a tax base on houses. That will lead to ruin, just look at Lexington County. All it does is make (the developer) richer and the county poorer because of the cost to the county in services. Editor's note: Our county leaders and Administrator are always happy about the direction our county is heading. Ignorance is bliss, is it not? web posted October 13, 2005 I about wet my pants reading about the drunk guy who went to get his girlfriend out of jail. That was too funny. web posted October 13, 2005 I was raised in Edgefield and now live in Oklahoma. My dad sent me a link to (EdgefieldDaily.com) and I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful job your staff does. I get the local paper mailed to me just to keep up on friends and (EdgefieldDaily.com) has been a godsend. If there is ever anything I can do to help please feel free to ask. Editor's note: The only thing we ask of our readers is that they pass our location on to others. web posted October 12, 2005 I don't know if I'm happy or sad. I always thought of Edgefield County as a nice quiet county. But after I found (EdgefieldDaily.com) I see that there is a lot more going on than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I want to know, but it also kind of scares me to know my neighbors are getting robbed, drug dealers are around our schools, and people turn up dead or missing. I guess I'm glad to see all this being printed, but it sure does make me wish for the old days. Editor's note: EdgefieldDaily.com does focus on our law enforcement agencies. We do this for several reasons. First to show how understaffed they are in providing adequate pro-active law enforcement. Due to under funding by local governing bodies officers generally are placed in a reactionary mode by necessity This is not the position our Sheriff or local Police Chief's wish to be in. Secondly we do it to provide residents the ability to be aware of criminal activity that is taking place in their area. The local citizen is the first line of defense against most property crimes. We also cover the issues because we are the only outlet that covers our court system. web posted October 12, 2005 I really enjoy (EdgefieldDaily.com). Editor's note: Thank you. web posted October 12, 2005 Why are you so down on (Strom Thurmond's) football team? You went to Thurmond didn't you? Editor's note: Indeed I, and most of those involved in the production of EdgefieldDaily.com, graduated from Strom Thurmond High School between 1978 and 1984. We believe that regardless of how bad the truth is it has to be printed. Even if it hurts those we love. To do otherwise would go against truth, a basic foundation of EdgefieldDaily.com web posted October 12, 2005 "I would like to acknowledge (the Editor) from EdgefieldDaily.com for being here tonight. He does a great job and always has a lot of nice things to say about us, we appreciate that." Merriwether Fire Commissioner Ray Johnson at the Annual MVFD Meeting Editor's note: We did not include this quote in the story but wanted to share it with our readers. web posted October 11, 2005 I was told about (EdgefieldDaily.com) last week and just love it! I personally would like to see more personal interests stories, but for everyday news (EdgefieldDaily.com) is the tops. Great job! Editor's note: Thank you. All we ask of our readers is to pass our location on to others. web posted October 11, 2005 I read the wondering minds today and the one sticking up for Kevin Jones is an idiot. I want to know why he aint in jail. Editor's note: Mr. Jones is a vital part of the Strom Thurmond Football team's defense in their hopes for a state title and a first offender. web posted October 11, 2005 Why don't you list all the news pages on your site? I have told people about stories I saw here and the next day they are gone. Editor's note: The only links that are not archived are the National and World news. They are archived by all other reporting agencies. We see no reason to do so here. You can do a search and find them by subject with no problem. web posted October 10, 2005 I wanted to say how much I like the gas price page. I plan my fillups by them. Sometimes the prices have gone up or down a little by the time I get there but I do save a lot of money . There's a big difference in prices (from town to town) that I didn't notice before. Editor's note: We are happy to be able to provide the service. Thank also our reporting stations, without them the page would not be possible. web posted October 10, 2005 I heard part of a song on the radio the other day about two old country folk signing about a hole in a bucket. I about drove off the road when I heard it. Do you know where to find a copy of it? You say ask anything. Editor's note: Our search found mention of "There is a hole in the bucket Dear Henry" in which a whimsical full circle exchange takes place between a woman and her husband. The words and a recording are available here if this is the song you mention. web posted October 10, 2005 You list national and world news on the main page, why not statewide news? Just curious. Editor's note: To our chagrin when we upgraded our web site in June we must have lost the state news, which used to be listed on the center section, during our redesign. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It will be replaced today. When so few try to do so much sometimes something will fall between the cracks. Please accept our apology. web posted October 10, 2005 You really have it in for Kevin Jones don't you? Give the kid a break! Isn't he allowed one mistake before you hang him? Editor's note: Kevin Jones is an adult and made dozens of mistakes, we let him slide on the first couple of dozen as the event took place over many days and we were aware of the situation long before we broke the exclusive story. He has no business being allowed to play football no matter how good he is. Every game he plays in diminishes the integrity of the school, the coaching staff, and the Administration. He threatened to kill two Edgefield County Deputies, felonies. Jones is not the first, other notables have been charged with crimes, some on campus, and it was all swept under the rug. But EdgefieldDaily.com is here now to report what others will not. web posted October 10, 2005 It is great that Edgefield PD got raises. Maybe the Edgefield citizens should know that the "suits" of Edgefield county got BIG raises while public safety (law enforcement and EMS) got no raises and are still making poverty line wages. Is this the thanks that they should get for putting their lives on the line to help us? web posted October 8, 2005 I wanted to say thank you for covering the Mud Out Team from Edgefield First Baptist Church leaving for their second trip to the Gulf Coast. I love them for their contribution and selfishness. They deserve all the recognition they get and I know (EdgefieldDaily.com) had to get up very early in the morning to cover the story. Kudos for the effort. Editor's note: We got up one morning. That is a grain of sand on a beach compared to their contribution. web posted October 8, 2005 I am an avid surfer of the web for information on a variety of subjects. One of the most frustrating things I encounter are web sites that required a registration to gain access. I have in the past created Yahoo and HotMail email addresses to register and then eventually have to close the accounts due to the number of ads that were sent to me and lose access to the site. When I read the Never register to view a news website again story. I tried it and it worked. I guess I want to say thanks. I was one of those who asked (EdgefieldDaily.com) not to put stories from web sites that demanded registrations to read what was linked. Editor's note: We try hard to cater to the "cyber-space" reader, we are - after all - an internet based daily and as such we believe information is free and want to pass on how to maintain your privacy as you browse the web to obtain that information. We are pressing our Webmaster to do incremental "Internet Tips" for EdgefieldDaily.com. web posted October 8, 2005 What time do you update. I work odd hours and like to try to read (EdgefieldDaily.com) before I go to work at night. Sometimes I get the next day and sometimes I don't. Is there a set time? Editor's note: No, we generally try to start uploading the next days pages by late afternoon but do not update the main page till all other updates are completed. Depending on the number of stories and pictures (not counting connection problems we suffer with subpar service with Bell South) it can be anywhere between 11:30 pm and 2:00 am. web posted October 7, 2005 Just wanted to say thanks Editor's note: Thank you for reading! web posted October 7, 2005 ¿usted hará esto en español? Editor's note: Hay traductores del Internet, por ejemplo el utilizó para este poste, en la tela que traducirá las páginas enteras. In other words, no, we will not upload our website in Spanish. web posted October 7, 2005 I was glad to see they gave the Edgefield officers a raise and promotion. They are very nice and are always there when you need them. I think they could have done better than a $500 a year raise though, that just seems like nothing over the course of a year. Anymore that is just a few tankfuls of gas. Editor's note: Local law enforcement officers and EMS workers are underpaid and understaffed. web posted October 7, 2005 I really like cheese! Editor's note: Okay, we understand, you really like cheese. web posted October 6, 2005 I read the story about the deer and how wonderful it all was. I like animals too. I like them fried, broiled, stewed, grilled, barbq'ed, and smoked. web posted October 6, 2005 In the next election how many county councilmen are up for re-election? Editor's note: The County Council does not serve on staggered terms as the School Board does. All five seats are up for election every two years. web posted October 6, 2005 I am so thankful that there is someone who will finally tell it like you do. Someone not afraid of the "powers that be" who control everything in this county including the paper. Keep up the good work. Editor's note: Thank you! Please pass our location on to others so that we may continue to grow. web posted October 5, 2005 I HOPED YOU WOULD BE BROKE BUY NOW. ONLY STUPID PEOPLE READ YOUR LIES... Editor's note: This is our resident weekly hate mailer that we limit to one posting a month. Their e-mail has been edited as they are always laced with the usual profanities. Each always stating they will never read EdgefieldDaily.com again. See you next month. Thank you for reading EdgefieldDaily.com! web posted October 5, 2005 Thank you for the online paper. I quit buying the Chronicle when they put theirs online and I'm thinking of stopping buying the local paper now that yours is here. Editor's note: The best citizen is a well informed citizen. We would suggest taking in all the possible information about our county from all sources available. Just as there are things we cover that the two local papers do not; there are things they cover that we do not. We purchase both local papers on a weekly basis. web posted October 5, 2005 I check the court records page every week and it hasn't been changed in weeks. Have they quit giving the information? Editor's note: No, the Magistrate's Office complies with our requests on a timely basis. We updated three weeks ago and had another problem with the page loading correctly. Until the problem was resolved we did not try to post on the page again. We should have the updates posted over the next few days. We apologize for this delay. Sometimes with limited staff problem solving takes longer than expected. web posted October 5, 2005 I really enjoy reading (EdgefieldDaily.com) and was wondering if ya'll could maybe give concert information. I don't get to listen to the radio much and that's about the only place I ever learn of a local concerts. Editor's note: We will see what we may be able to provide in that regard. web posted October 4, 2005 I like cheese web posted October 4, 2005 I think this is a wonderful site. Editor's note: Thank you. Please pass our location on to others! web posted October 4, 2005 What's the name of the cop in Johnston that is under investigation, and why is he still working if they suspended the chief? Editor's note: EdgefieldDaily.com cannot reveal the information we have until it is confirmed by officials. web posted October 4, 2005 Looks like the Gamecocks are going to be gettin beat up on all year long. Editor's note: Let's hope not. web posted October 4, 2005 How do(es EdgefieldDaily.com) find out all the things you print but never show up in the paper? Editor's note: We ask questions and do not hide where the results lead. web posted October 3, 2005 What happened to the crime blotter link on the front page? Did you stop doing it? Editor's note: No, the Crime Blotter page is listed, as it always has been, on the left side under the "Sections" listing. Eventually all "Features" will be removed from the front page and rely on the listing under the Sections listings with Local Updates coming to the top of the page. web posted October 3, 2005 I just wanted to say thank you for saying so many of the things I think on a daily basis and feel alone in thinking and afraid to say. please don't stop or ever fall into the usual (media) complacency of pleasing certain people. (EdgefieldDaily.com's) independance from the norm is what makes you special. Editor's note: You can ignore the message but you cannot ignore the popularity. We will not change. web posted October 3, 2005 (EdgefieldDaily.com) is the best thing to happen to this county since the telephone. web posted October 3, 2005 This is a great place for the people of edgefield county to get local news ,alerts and just inside information.. Thank you for this site .. I do have a question. Has anybody other than me noticed the idiots driving the red and white trucks for Ray Walker trucking ? They have run me off the road on Key Rd , got so close to my bumper on Martintown Rd I thought they had hit me ,and passed me swerving on #23... I have called the highway patrol and it seems they can't catch them or they were not out there .. Thanks again for this site!! Editor's note: Thank you for reading and your kind comments. You are not the only one to notice the trucks. Those concerns came from the crash on July 27. web posted October 1, 2005 How come the rest of the story on Butch Easler would not come up on 9-29-05? My computer said it had been removed. Editor's note: The page had not been removed. All of our pages are placed on the web in lower case lettering. Inadvertently the page address was placed using a capital J rather than a lower case j and the link contained the lower case as normal so the page would be listed as "Not Found". The link was corrected by 1:00 pm on the 29th. web posted September 30, 2005 I hear there is a butload of stuff coming down on a cop in Johnston. Is that what the meeting was held about? (the rest of this posting is deleted for use of names not confirmed public at this time) Editor's note: Right now details of the executive session meeting are not being confirmed by town officials. Rightly so. Information received by the council is private and until there are actual charges or filings in the matter everything remains private. Edgefield Daily.com has been given information to track down via Aiken County and we are following up on those tips. Some have mentioned names. If they actually appear on official public records we will post that information once confirmed. web posted September 30, 2005 Editor's Note: We have had several comments to the Wandering Minds on this particular photo, so rather than post them all we will post one that sums up all the rest: I saw the pictures of the wreck on highway 25 and the school bus. I just have to ask the question, if the bus driver had the lights on and the sign out, why would she turn them off after the wreck? The picture on the web site shows the sign in and the shot from behind shows the lights off. Granted, the lights could have been flashing and the picture was taken when the lights were off but don't they both come on at the same time? Editor's note. The lights were not flashing on the bus when we arrived. That does not mean they were not on at the time. The driver was still seated in her seat and the children were still on the bus. We just take the photo's, the investigation is up to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. web posted September 28, 2005 I was told of your web-site several weeks ago and cannot seem to pull myself away. Great Job! Where can I find the chapters of “The Puzzle” that you have published? Editor’s note: "The Puzzle" has basically been sold for publication as a book. The terms and conditions are still going through the process. However, we hope to be able to repost the chapters already posted on Edgefield Daily.com very soon. We thought we would be able to repost them by early September but that did not turn out to be the case. It should be coming very soon. In the event the book deal goes awry we will go back to publishing the book online. It is a “must read” for Edgefield County residents! web posted September 27, 2005 I don't always get the meaning of the (INsider) a lot of times. Can you make it more plain so we know what is being said? Editor's note: The INsider is not always for the general public. Sometimes it is to let those on the INside know that we know what is going on and that, in time, it will lead to our readers knowing. Not one INsider post has ever been proven unfounded to date. Anyone who can refute any post is welcome to do so. It will be posted. I got a email from a friend about (Edgefield Daily.com) last month and was blown away. This is like nothing I have ever seen around here. I don’t mind some of the nice who saw who where last week or who is going to eat where in the papers, but this is flat out what is really going on in the county with no (political correctness interjected). My wife gets up in the morning and asks what “Edgefield Daily” has to say today when she comes in the kitchen every morning with me at the computer. I guess I just wanted to say thank you. We don’t have local tv and this is the next best thing. I’d like to see more of the (video and audio) on the webpage. Editor’s note: Thank you for your kind comments, we try hard to make the most information possibly available to the residents of Edgefield County the fastest and be the most complete in that coverage. With the majority of our readers being rural and on dial up connections we will continue to cater to the lower speed connections in the use of video or audio updates limited to only when they are warranted. Anytime a crime on video is presented to us we will post it within 24 hours unless requested not to by local authorities for investigative purposes. web posted September 27, 2005 HOw come it seems like (Edgefield Daily.com) switches from town to town in the "reports"? ONe week someone complains abnout their town not getting the attention then in a few days stories turn up about them. It just all seems like a load a crap to me. Editor's note: The Edgefield County Council says we harp on them. So does the County Administrator. The Edgefield County Planning Commission says we offer the best coverage ever of their meetings (we would agree). You cannot make all the people happy all of the time and events do not always take place in your community. If it happens and we know, it will be reported. We do not make the events happen, just inform you of when they do. If you have concerns you would like addressed or want to report events taking place our contact numbers are listed on the left hand side of the page. This is your website, make use of it. web posted September 27, 2005 What was going on in Johnston (Thursday) night? All I heard were a bunch a sirens and helicopeters. I don't see nothing about it (Friday). Editor's note: The event that took place was actually a Saluda County call requesting mutual aid from Johnston. According to reports there was a single car accident near the convenience center just inside the Saluda County line. The driver of the car, said to be a female, was ejected and flown out via AirMed to the MCG Trauma Unit. The call went out to Johnston First Responders around 11:30 and AirMed was leaving the scene by 12:28 am. Her condition is unavailable. web posted September 24, 2005 I live in Mount Pleasant (SC) but grew up outside of Edgefield. My brother told me about (Edgefield Daily.com) and I was glad to see Edgefield (County) get something like this. I see a lot of people I know mentioned. I've been gone about 15 yrs and really haven't kept up. (Edgefield Daily.com) makes that easy. Anyway, thanks for the online paper. Great idea. Now when I come home I don't have to spend all that time catching up. I can spend it having fun. Editor's note: We are glad to have you as a reader! web posted September 24, 2005 I just found out about Edgefielddaily.com and I have been reading some of the articles. It is interesting and informative. I did want to comment on the article you wrote about the County Council meeting that Norman Dorn addressed the meeting. I assume you quoting him since the comment was in quotes and I think it is a sad state of affairs when a Councilman and teacher in our schools doesn't know how to speak properly. I also think it is indicative of his ability when he comes late for such an important job. And yet our school board continues to allow him to teach our children. I don't know what Donnie Myers was asking money for from the County Council, but he still prosecutes criminals in our county and we are suppose to fund that office. The reason we are so back logged in criminal court is because our County Council doesn't adequately fund the Clerk of Court's office and the Solicitor's office. Editor's note: Those were quotes. web posted September 24, 2005 I would like to clarify a comment you made in your editorial about Judge Lasonia Williams. In your editorial you said "Let’s hope Judge Williams doesn’t oversee a child molestation case prosecuted by CDV Investigator Robin Newton. That could leave a child having to try the case against the adult molester with a fancy lawyer." That comment was inaccurate and grossly misleading! As you correctly pointed out, Judge Williams is a Magistrate's Court Judge and as a Magistrate's Court Judge she can not try "child molestation" cases. A case of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor would be tried in Circuit Court. In the interest of fair reporting it should be noted that Judge Willaims is not an attorney and she can not preside over such a case. It should also be noted that cases in Circuit Court are prosecuted by a Solicitor or his appointee and not the victim! You usually do a good job in your reporting but you really dropped the ball on this one. In the future you should seriously think about doing some research before you put yourself out on the proverbial limb! Editor's note: Thank you for your comments. Frankly, having the perspective of actually sitting in the courtroom differs from long time friendships. A good judge can make a bad choice just as a bad judge may make a good one. The opinion used the absurd (Child molestation) to make a point. Obviously it registered. Judge Willaims may very well be a fine Judge in Greenwood County. However, the case we witnessed was enough to be thankful she is not a resident judge here. The opinion stands. The report is factual. web posted September 23, 2005 I read where the Red Cross was going to be collecting money for the victims of the hurricane. Now we are fixing to be hit with them wanting me to give more (Assumed: Hurricane Rita) . Now, it aint that I dont care, but the goverment already takes about 30% of what I make and when it comes time to do what government is supposed to do you know they are going to use this as a reason to take more. Gas prices are going up. Everything is going up. Who do I get to go to to help me? I ain't got the money to hel p anybody else. I'm too damn busy trying to take care of my own right now and there aint been no hurricane here. I have always given but dang it all I am just slap done giving out money when gas is going crazy. Since the first of the year what we spend on gas has doubled and we drive less. I hear all over that gas is going up again. I can't afford it now. Something has got to give here. Editor's note: Gas in Iraq is $0.05 a gallon. web posted September 23, 2005 Do you have an idea who monkeyed with the story thing going missing? Editor's note: No comment web posted September 23, 2005 I saw the picture in (The Edgefield Advertiser). Are you married to Gina Adams? I haven't seen her in years but she still looks the same if that is her. I remember when she was on the color gaurd (at Strom Thurmond High School). Editor's note: Yes, Genia is my wife and we have been married for 22 years and together for 28. The day I met her I told her I was going to marry her. Six years later she gave in. web posted September 23, 2005 I love the (ALERTS!) I impressed a few people knowing about (Johnston Police Chief) Easler being under investigation by SLED before anyone knew about it. Thanks. Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com rewards ALERTS! readers with advance copy of breaking news before it is posted on the website. web posted September 23, 2005 I am rather new to (Edgefield Daily.com) but I have to say that I am impressed. There are things you do not cover that I like to read about but when it comes to what is going on around here I always come here to see what (Edgefield Daily.com) has on it. I wish you well. Editor's note: Thank you. All we ask is that you pass our location on to others. web posted September 22, 2005 In response to the question you received 9-21-05, how do you sleep at night? This reader seems to think the editor is making up the news, but the fact is, the editor is reporting the news. Funny how people get (ticked) off when the truth is told isn't it? web posted September 22, 2005 I just read were someone mentioned about he wish we had a better reason to be in Iraq. (Johnston Town Councilman) Nicholson I believe or whoever it is its got to be National Guard. I am in the Active Army the real army not no civilian part time army who works a weekend a month and two weeks a year. I think that is how they work. Not saying (anything) bad about the guard you do deploy with us and that the only time I consider yall the army. I've worked with the guard during some training exercises and they're not very highspeed. We have high standards which we must meet. And for Iraq after 9/11 we have every damn reason to be over there and we can't leave until the mission is accomplished. Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com supports our troops and our mission. We hold the belief that those who enter combat with a defeated attitude endangers the lives of others. May God bless our military men and women and the spread of a democratic republic in other lands, not "democracy" which has never worked. web posted September 22, 2005 I saw the picture in the paper with the dog. That ain't no dog, that is a horse! Editor's note: Great Danes are one of the most loyal pets one can have. They are also one of the most loving and most protective. When a dog can snap a ham hock in half in one bite... we respect that. We are glad he is a part of our family. web posted September 22, 2005 How do you sleep at night? Editor's note: Usually on my left side, but it does alternate throughout the night to my right side. web posted September 21, 2005 I read the story about the lynching. Did they hang the guy or something? I don't understand the lynching charge. Editor's note: Lynching is not what it used to be in legal terms. When two or more are involved in an attack it is considered a "lynching". The charge is a felony. web posted September 20, 2005 Great site! web posted September 20, 2005 I dont have anything to say I just wanted to see if you really print anything sent. web posted September 20, 2005 Has there ben anything new on Mr. Key? Editor's note: No, the investigation continues. If anything breaks in the case be assured we will post it the same day. web posted September 20, 2005 What is the political graveyard and where can i find it? Who are the "graves" for? Editor's note: The "political graveyard" is actually a website devoted to showing the locations of politico's graves. However the term we used was just as a reference to the end of political careers. We are not contemplating a page for that purpose, it is just a term for some of the INsiders who contribute and are very active in the politics of the county and their opinions of upcoming elections. As far as the "graves" referred to that is total speculation on behalf of those who contribute and it is too early to reveal at this time. web posted September 20, 2005 Please help me understand the position of Administrator Wayne Adams in the county of Edgefield is he appointed? If so by whom? What is the point of having a County Council if they just do his bidding? Not being a political science major I was under the under assumption the Mayor would have more input on what goes on, in the town of Edgefield what are his duties? Thank you for giving us a place to ask questions so at least we get others to think for themselves. Editor's note: That is a tall order for the limited space in this section, so the answer will be brief. Adams is appointed by the county council. His contract (which is not required) has to be voted on each year. He can be dismissed at any time without reason by the council. As to what good a county council is if they just do his bidding; that is a good question. Mayor’s generally conduct the regular meetings, act as a sort of CEO of the particular town, has a vote on matters before the council, act as an ambassador of the town at functions, kisses babies and cuts ribbons. web posted September 19, 2005 I recently learned of Edgefield Daily and find it very refreshing and informative. It is a great asset to the county and I just wanted to thank you and your staff for the fine job you do. Editor's note: Thank you! web posted September 19, 2005 that story about the trial just made me mad. I mean it was bad enough to cut (the Sheriff's Department) out but how the (heck) can they take your witness away? Editor's note: Every judge is in complete control of their courtroom. We would note this was not an Edgefield County Magistrate. Judge Williams is from Greenwood County and was appointed to oversee the trial. web posted September 19, 2005 I love this page! It is the first thing I read every day. It's like living next to a nutty neighbor. web posted September 16, 2005 THE REBELS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! web posted September 16, 2005 I saw a (Edgefield County Sheriff's) Deputy flying down the road and he didn't have on any blue lights or anything. I know if I drove like that I would get a ticket. It just don't seem fair they can ignore the speed limit but I have to. How can I report them? Editor's note: Complaints about the activity of Edgefield County Deputies should be directed to Sheriff Adell Dobey (637-5337 or 278-1625). He will respond to any concern you have. However, not every call that our Sheriff's Deputies go on require them to respond "Code 3" (lights and sirens). Some calls require them to run silent such as a burglary in progress near the scene. (You do not want to tip the burglar that you are coming). In certain situations, depending on traffic, some Deputies have stated it is safer to run without lights and sirens because drivers panic and cause more traffic problems than the lights and sirens are to prevent. If you feel the activity of a Deputy is in need of reporting Sheriff Dobey would welcome your concerns. web posted September 16, 2005 You a might hard on (Edgefield County Planning Commissioner Jim) Oliver werent you? Editor's note: The record speaks for itself. We do not make the events unfold, we just report them as they are. web posted September 16, 2005 I just wanted to thank you for the sex offenders list. I was taken aback to know that I knew two of them and one who was at my church. I learned about (Edgefield Daily.com) in the article in the paper (Edgefield Advertiser) today. I had no idea there was a place to find so much information so easy. Thank you. Editor's note: This was not a Wandering Minds submission, but we wanted to include it just the same. web posted September 15, 2005 you are still a jerk Editor's note: You remain a reader. Thank you. web posted September 15, 2005 I just found out about (Edgefield Daily.com) today in the (Edgefield Advertiser). I hope I am doing this right. I just wanted to say I was AMAZED at how much stuff is on here. Editor's note: Welcome to our website! Passing our location on to others is all we ask of our readers. web posted September 15, 2005 There is just so much about this (Marion) Key thing that just don't make sence. What is really going on? Do you have any idea? (Edgefield Daily.com) seems to be the closest to the whole thing. Editor's Note: Edgefield Daily.com has designated more coverage to the Marion Key case since it started than any other local or area media. We really do not have any more information to distribute other than what we have already placed on the web site. Investigator Phil Ireland is heading up the investigation for Sheriff Adell Dobey and the Edgefield County Sheriff's Department. Evidence collected at the scene is not distributed to the local media to preserve the investigation. Much of what Edgefield Daily.com presented in our stories was the result of our own return investigation of the crime scene after it was released, photos taken at the time, and press releases. Edgefield Daily.com firmly believes someone in the Merriwether Community knows what happened or has information pertaining to those who do. We would encourage anyone who has information to call 9-1-1 from a pay phone and give their information. Please help the family if you can. You do not need to reveal your identity to provide information. web posted September 15, 2005 As a long time reader i'd say you don't push the evelope, i'd say you lick it, seal it, and mail it to the (edited to read: politicians) right over the web. I LIKE IT, I LOVE IT, I WANT SOME MORE OF IT!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOO GEORRRRRRGIA BULLDOGS!!!!!!!!!.................ALSO HOW 'BOT THEM TIGERS. Editor's note: For 18 point favorites who came down to the last seconds of the game to find out who was going to win by 2 points says a lot about South Carolina. web posted September 13, 2005 I really like the gas price page! Sometimes it is worth waiting until i go to the town with the lowest price to fill up and save 8 or 9 bucks! Editor's note: We are glad to be of service to our readers. web posted September 13, 2005 The story about the (Jessica ) Arnette woman is so sad. I have heard a lot of rumors that they found several pounds of pot in the car. Is that true? Is that why they were running from the cops? Editor's note: We have heard many say the same thing. However, we can only go by what we are given as official reports from law enforcement and none of them have confirmed such. Charges are still pending on Mr. Hardaman. A family friend told Edgefield Daily.com today that his condition had not improved. web posted September 13, 2005 THIS IS DEFINITELY FREEDOM OF PRESS! THE FACT THAT COMMENTS ARE ANONYMOUS ALLOWS PEOPLE TO SAY WHAT THEY REALLY FEEL, WITHOUT A HUGE FINGER-POINT OR CRITIQUE, SINCE THAT IS WHAT OUR COUNTY IS BASED ON 'WHAT EVERYONE THINKS OF EVERYBODY ELSE'! SEXUAL OFFENDERS LIST IS A MUST AND GLAD TO SEE IT, NEVER KNOW WHO TO TRUST! YOUR NOT ARGUING ABOUT THE GNATS WHEN YOUR EATING YOUR PEACHES, BUT YOU ARGUE ABOUT THE IMMIGRANTS WHO WILL ACTUALLY WORK THE FIELDS, IF THE PEOPLE IN THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE WOULD WORK THEM THAT WOULD SOLVE TWO PROBLEMS! THANKS EDGEFIELD DAILY, MY COMMENTS THAT NEEDED TO BE LET GO. EDGEFIELD COUNTY RESIDENT! web posted September 13, 2005 Is there anything new on the (Marion) Key car being found? Editor's note: We have an update here. This is really great! Posted September 9, 2005 This is fantastic. It is about time the news is told like (Edgefield Daily.com) tells it. Wayne Adams needs to get on his white horse and ride out of this county the same way he came in. It is time the people in Edgefield County stand up to our beliefs and not someone else's. Keep up the good work. Don't let some of those people who want to hide the truth about this county stop your web site. I will pass it on to many friends. Posted September 9, 2005 We just foubnd out about the web sight (Edgefield Daily.com) this week. We get on it every day. Posted September 9, 2005 I saw tha(t) both papers (The Edgefield Advertiser and The Citzen News) has a picture they showed came from (Edgefield Daily.com).Is that how you pay for the (web)site? Editor's note: We assume that this is in regard to pictures of the car in the Marion Key story. No. Pictures we take are offered to the local papers free of charge. Edgefield Daily.com will never seek to benefit from the suffering of others. Posted September 8, 2005 I enjoy the site. thank you. Posted September 8, 2005 Where do you get all the information on all the stuff that goes on around here? Why don't the local papers cover what (Edgefield Daily.com) does? Editor's note: We ask hard questions and get answers. We do not wait for the story to come to us. As for the local papers we believe they cover what they feel is important and they do it rather well. We cover what we feel is important. We would suggest you read all information provided and draw your own conclusions to events on government and local activity. Posted September 8, 2005 Is there anything new on the (Marion) Key story? I saw a report on (WJBF Channel) 6 today where the family was asking for information. Editor's note: No, Edgefield County Investigators are continuing their investigation. The family, as well as Edgefield Daily.com, does not believe Mr. Key drove his car to the location it was found. Investigators are very tight-lipped on what evidence has been collected. However, they state no evidence of "foul play" has been recovered. Our experience with the Edgefield County Sheriff's Department leads us to believe they will resolve this case as they do so many other with much less evidence. Posted September 8, 2005 After reading (Edgefield Daily.com) today I am more disgusted with the county "leaders" than I have ever been. I thought after the last council meeting and the council's refusal to close John's Road for what seemed very good reasoning, "Yes, Virginia, our council does have a brain!". However, after reading today's site, "Alas, Virginia, they were only pretending!". Now I do not claim to be a rocket scientist but even I can see through Mr. Rainsford's ruse. According to the Edgefield Advertiser, Mr. Bettis Rainsford warns of the dying industry over the county and the state, and sees this, the building of new homes at Mt. Vintage, as thwarting that loss. Come on council! Am I just crazy or do most people need a job before they buy or build a house? What good are these "Mt. Vintage" homes if there are no people with sufficient income to build or buy them? Aren't there already enough lots and houses sitting for sale in Mt. Vintage? Mr. Rainsford has once again duped every last one of council members into lining his pockets at the expense of Edgefield County citizens. Not all Edgefield County citizens are that gullible, obviously just the "leaders". Posted September 8, 2005 I was at last months (County Council) meeting and this months. Last month everyone was told the road was never used. This month Bettis (Rainsford) and others said there was too much traffic. Can't they make up thier mind on why they want to close the (John's) road? The most traffic was said to be people in Mount Vintage. Explain to me how an unused road is overused by the same people who will still use the road when it is closed? Editor's Note: We cannot explain duplicity. Posted September 8, 2005 I see you are trying to make (Administrator Wayne) Adams look bad again. It seems you try to subtly say he is crooked. Editor's note: We can only report what happens. Posted September 8, 2005 You list the cheapest place to buy gas how about doing it for beer? Editor's note: Gas prices are a public service. If beer is a main concern we suggest this site. Posted September 7, 2005 My wife said I am adicted to the wondering minds. She says its all I talk about. Editor's note: Read two new pages a day and e-mail us in the morning. Posted September 7, 2005 Thank you for everything you do. Posted September 7, 2005 I am so glad (Edgefield Daily.com) is here. Editor's note: So are we. Posted September 7, 2005 Why was there no new news today? (Tuesday) Editor's note: With Monday being Labor Day we uploaded our updates for Tuesday on Sunday night and took Monday off. We could have waited until Monday night to update but chose to allow our readers the most up to date information. We did place updates to some sections during the day Tuesday. Posted September 7, 2005 Thank you this site is as close to a daily paper as possible, I am not a sheep and do not follow blindly behind others, but will listen to the other side of the story and make up my own mind. Here opinions can be expressed or “herd” Like my pun! (For those of you with no sense of humor that was a pun not a misspelled word). Keep up the great job. If you don’t do it who will? Posted September 5, 2005 I just wanted to say thank you. I am Marion Key's daughter. The Edgefielddaily has kept this story going since day one. They have gotten pictures as soon as we could provide them. They came to our house to get things. We didn’t have to go to them. They have kept us informed at all times. They have gotten things donated to us.( food, ice,etc.). We can call on them at any time day or night and they have been right there. They have been involved in all the searches. They have even gone and searched by their self. I don’t care what anyone has to say about this site. It is a good one and the people that have it are wonderful caring people. I hope it is always here for me to find out what is going on around our great county. Thank you very much, Bonnie P. Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com is based in Merriwether and we have done nothing but be a good neighbor. We will continue to keep the story on our main page until the matter has been resolved and Marion Key has been found. Posted September 5, 2005 No one has ever covered this county like (Edgefield Daily.com). I don't understand how you do it all for free. What can I do to help? Editor's note: Being a reader is the best way. Passing our location on to others is all we ask. Reader referrals has made Edgefield Daily.com the number one source for daily readership in Edgefield County for news. Posted September 5, 2005 I never see anything about Trenton. Area ya'll ignoring us? Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com attends and reports on the Trenton Town Council meetings every month. Before we did this regularly no local media did so. The reason you see little coverage of the Trenton area is because they have no arrests, no reportable crime, and with our Editor being a Trenton native we would not ignore the peaceful town. In some respect, "no news is good news." Be thankful. Posted September 5, 2005 Why don't you have a weekend update? Your name is Edgefield DAILY.com Editor's note: We update six days a week, Monday thru Saturday. Sunday is a day that is for family and worship. We would actually hope our readers are not on the computer, but with family, on Sundays. Posted September 5, 2005 Just wanted to say I absolutley love (Edgefield Daily.com). Editor's note: Thank you! Posted September 5, 2005 Re: Video, EXCELLENT! Posted September 5, 2005 I loved the video clip of the break in. I downloaded it and watch it over and over. I sent the link to everyone in my address book. Too cool! Editor's note: We will provide more video in the future. Posted September 5, 2005 In regards to gas price gouging: reports can be made to the Department of Consumer Affairs online at: http://www.scconsumer.gov/index.html. Telephone numbers are: 803-734-4200 or toll free in S.C. 800-922-1594. Posted September 3, 2005 I just wanted to say "thank you" for your advise in the column about lowering your car taxes. I took a print out of my cars blue book value and showed it to the nice young lady in the Auditors office and my car tax bill was reduced by $30! I think I'll take the money and buy a tee shirt that reads "I outsmarted Wayne!" Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com posted that story due to a certain event. However, taxes on one vehicle owned by the Editor went from $464 to $332, a single savings of $132. As an added note, your home is taxed the same way. The "highest and best use" taxation assures the "highest taxes available" and if you want to pay too much, don't question them. Posted September 3, 2005 I was almost killed back in June of this year by a Ray Walker Truck. I was coming over the NARROW bridge from Modoc on Hwy. 23 toward Edgefield. Nearing the end of the bridge, but not OFF the bridge yet, a Ray Walker Truck came toward me around that sharp curve...he was literally driving in the middle of the road - the double yellow line was "center" with the front of the truck. I don't know how I made it past the first truck...I know that God was with me that afternoon...then another Ray Walker Truck came flying right behind it. When I got up the road just a bit, and realized that all of my limbs were still in place and I was alive, I pulled over and cried & had to sit there for about 20 minutes to regain my composure. I didn't file a complaint with the highway department because I didn't have a tag number or any other information at that time. THEY NEED TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS OR AT LEAST OFF THE ROAD... THANKS FOR GETTING THIS INFO. OUT TO THE PUBLIC. I read the reduce your taxes article today. You seem to make everything about the county council or the administrator. That is bias in my book. Editor's note: If anything we post in any story is incorrect we will run a retraction the next day after being notified. Just because local media outlets are afraid to point the finger at who it to blame is not our concern, we will. Taxes, budgets, and policy are all directed by the Edgefield County Council and Administrator Wayne Adams. Let the chips fall where they may. We do not make the news, we just report it, in totality and unbiased. Our opinions can be found on the Editorial page. Posted August 31, 2005 Are you going to have a community news like the papers? Editor's note: We would be happy to entertain anyone who would like to offer such on a weekly basis. However, at the present time, we do not have plans to add such a section. It seems to be fairly well covered in the local papers. Posted August 31, 2005 I just found (Edgefield Daily.com) today from a flyer. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate what you do.It is an awsome site! Editor's note: Thank you. In the last week alone we have seen an additional 500 plus new readers log into Edgefield Daily.com. As is our policy, we will never charge for access to our site or its content. Posted August 31, 2005 I saw something yesterday afternoon that I have never seen before in my life, and my grandfather, and great grandfather were in the gasoline wholesale business from 1918 until 2001. One gas station in Johnston jumped its prices from $2.34 to $2.64...I can not believe that it has jumped that far with a few hours of a hurricane hitting. I also talked to another wholesale dealer in the local area that i am friends with and he said that the price of wholesale gasoline had went up $.15 on all grades of gas and diesel fuel yesterday afternoon. We were also talking about how gas prices used to be only 11 cents a gallon. Well if they can make it that cheap back then then they should be able to do it a little better then $2.64. It is uncalled for I think. Eventually they are going to force the little man not to be able own a vehicle at all because they may not be able to afford to pay for the gas, or there will be more theft of gasoline then ever before. I know that if you want to get around then you are going to have to pay for it. I drive a diesel truck, and I saw on tv Sunday how to make bio diesel fuel. I think that i might try to do this because it should save you money in the long run. All it takes is cooking grease like french fry grease from Hardees or Mcdonalds, some Lye, and Methanol fuel. It is supposed to more efficient and cleaner burning. Editor's note: Generally there are very few gas drive-offs in the county, however recently that has increased in numbers. Posted August 31, 2005 I thought I would write to say that I am impressed with the comprehensive coverage (Edgefield Daily.com) has on local events and functions. Several associates had informed me about the web page but I discounted it as just another web page. I have been reading for a week and have placed your site as my home page. Editor's note: Welcome to the Edgefield Daily.com family. Posted August 30, 2005 Thank you for the gas price stories. What a great idea. Could you do it more than once a week? With the prices going up and down every few days it would make knowing where to buy gas easy to find without driving around. Editor's note: Thank you for reading Edgefield Daily.com and for the suggestion. We will discuss doing a bi-weekly report on gas prices. Usually gas prices fall after Labor Day, however with the impact of hurricane Katrina in the Gulf of Mexico area shutting down one quarter of the refining ability of the nations fuel, look for prices to rise, not fall, by as much as twelve to fifteen cents. Posted August 30, 2005 I checked for the court record on Wed but it wasn't there. Editor's note: We assume this was in reference to the General Sessions Court results. Due to the tremendous amount of cases heard during the session it takes days to compile the information from court records and place them on the web site. The full session ended on Wednesday, August 24 and we posted the update on August 28. Posted August 30, 2005 I read the score of the (Strom Thurmond/ North Augusta) football game friday night, thanks for getting it on the web so fast by the way, but never saw a story on the game. Are you going to cover sports? Editor's note: At the present time we will follow sports and report scores within five minutes of receiving them, however we are not staffed with a sports reporter. We are looking for a sports writer at this time. We are also considering posting local football scores as the game proceeds if possible. Posted August 30, 2005 August 26, 2005 YOU TRY BUT YOU STILL CANT HIDE YOU HATE YOU (DELETED) WISH THEY CLOSE YOU DOWN. LIES LIES LIES IS ALL YOU DO. Editor's note: This is the individual we banned from posting but recently they have started sending in the usual tripe. To be fair we wanted to show that there are those who just hate for the sake of it. We did not post the entire profane latter, just enough to get the jest of what it contained. Hint to writer: Turn off the caps lock, use a spell and grammer check, and we will see you next month. August 26, 2005 My sister in Johnston emailed me your site and I read it everyday now. When I got married we moved to Atlanta and it is so hard, until now, to keep up with what is going on at home. This is like tv for the web. I'll keep "tuning in" :) Editor's note: Thank you! August 25, 2005 I could not attend the meeting on taxes, due to something else. How do we as tax payers get in touch with these Senators? We all need to let them know that we need to do away with property taxes and outlaw fees. If we don't this county council and school district will break all of us. I would not mind paying 10 cents or even 15 cents for sale taxes, at least it would be fair for all. There has to be an answer, otherwise Senior Citizens will lose their homes. And before long no one will be able to buy a home. Editor's Note: We have a link to the Legislative members on our main page August 25, 2005 HA HA HA! The Citizen News scooped you on Myers! Editor's note: Indeed they did. We had been following our local courts last week and as such missed the court date. However, our coverage is much deeper on the matter. August 25, 2005 I hear Mr. Thompson said (Edgefield Daily.com) got the football player story all wrong. Editor's note: Mr. Thompson is entitled to his opinions, we stand behind every word posted. We have also reviewed a letter he sent to Superintendent Dr. Sharon Keesley on the matter. Kevin Jones has plead guilty to both felony charges under a plea agreement. We did not want to saturate coverage so the story will not be posted for a day or so. August 25, 2005 What happened to the scavenger hunt photos? I haven't seen one in a couple weeks. Editor's note: Due to a file being mistakenly deleted which contained most of the upcoming photos we are having to reshoot the photos. We will have the next photo by tomorrow. None of the pictures on the website were affected. August 25, 2005 There is so much on Edgefiel Daily I just enjoy so much. I enjoy the wandering minds that I think is just a real hoot, the insider, and all the stories and opinions. Thank you so much for all your hard work! Editor's note: Thank you. August 23, 2005 I see a lot of things on here about taxes going up, but I never see a "story" on taxes going up. I just wonder, why would you say that? Is it because it makes the county look bad? Editor's note: County taxes are indeed going up. Roughly about $10-$12 per $100,000 home. The final numbers will not be in till September. When they are reported we will report them as well. As a reader of Edgefield Daily.com you are more informed on not only what has taken place, but what will take place. August 23, 2005 Ignore the tripe that some people send you about "sorry website" and stuff. I LOVE IT! August 23, 2005 Why are you so down on STH and the Jones boy? You know this is nothing and why try to get him kicked off the team? We're # 1. Editor's note: 1. It is very serious (felonies) 2. There is moe to education that being number one in footbal rankings. 3. Priorities and dignity matter. August 23, 2005 Let me guess, ya'll are Gamecock fans. Editor's note: Actually, there are fans of UGA, USC, and Clemson that help on the website. August 20, 2005 Who the (heck) is frick and frack? August 20, 2005 I just wanted to say that I hear more things I read on (Edgefield Daily.com) discussed around work than I do anything in the paper. I mean they get their share but it's one day a week. The first thing I hear is did you see what was on Edgefield Daily today? We love the site and read it every day. My husband raves about the website all the time to his friends. Editor's note: Thank you. We are indebted to our readers as they, and their word of mouth advertising, have made Edgefield Daily.com Edgefield County’s number one source for daily information. August 20, 2005 I have a bet with a friend. He says counjty council is elected every two years and I say they serve staggard terms. who wins? Editor's note: Edgefield County Council seats become available every two years. All seats are up for election. In theory, all five members could be replaced at one time. The School Board serves staggered terms. You lose. August 19, 2005 I read in the Edgefield Advertiser where (Johnston Town Councilman Frank) Nicolson (Nicholson) said he wished there was a better reason to be going to Iraq. I have to agree with Perry Smith (Letter to Editor The Edgefield Advertiser August 17, 2005 edition). If he doesn't know why the (heck) he is going he should keep his yellow belly at home. The last thing we need is some jerk going over there with a (series of not so nice words) attitude who will just cause others to get hurt or killed he should keep his (rear end) at home. Why not just defect to France with the rest of the cowards? He makes me sick! August 19, 2005 I looked at the Citizen News listing of arrests today and (Edgefield Daily.com) and they had some listed you didn't. Why did you leave off the arrests of (names deleted)? Is there a connection to them or a reason ya'll didn't list them? Editor's note: No, it is our policy not to publish the names of minors unless they are charged as adults for criminal acts. Both individuals you mentioned were under the age of 18 and we refuse to publish their names as they are not charged as adults. The Citizen News is free to do whatever it pleases. In fact Edgefield Daily.com is following the story of an individual (minor) who has been arrested and is now charged with child molestation as an adult. We are allowing investigators to complete their job of investigating the matter before reporting on it even though it is available for publication. TIME OUT! Now, let me see if I've got this right. Frick and Frack plotting to close John's Road in the very same week that Mr. Gibson proposes to the Transportation Committee to spend taxpayers money for an economic upgrade to the same road? Hello?? Council are you there? That's as painfully clear as a body wax on a gorilla! Keep up the good work Edgefield Daily! Eating meat is homicide. Editor's note: Eating plants is vegicide. All things are living. You are on top of the food chain and complaining? I work in a county office and still can't get (EdgefieldDaily.com) to come up until late in the day. Do you just run the website at certain times? This is the only time I get to read it and was just wondering. Editor's note: No, the website is 24/7 on the World Wide Web. We have had several other readers tell us the same thing within the governmental system. The County Government seems to be the only readers having this problem. We get the feeling we are being censored for clearance by "someone". We are investigating the matter. Carolina or Clemson? Editor's note: We are not biased in our reporting. However, sports can be a very divisive issue for some, so to answer this question we wanted to be very clear. In order to maintain a nuetral stance on things let us say the SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS are expected to go through some growing pains with the addition of Coach Spurrier. With such a high profile result oriented coach at USC the University of Georgia, Clemson, and the University of Tennessee will have their hands full. We would rather not take a position on favoring one team over the other. I was reading from some of the links from (Edgefield Daily.com) and found a story I thought was funny. It said there was a new report out that said depressed people live a lot shorter than happy people. That just has to cheer up the depressed people. Stupid site, stupid stories. Editor's note: Thank you for contributing to the readership of Edgefield Daily.com. I have learned so much about what is going on since I found (Edgefield Daily.com). there is so much that is not covered in the papers that has made me a regular. THank you. OUTSTANDING! Why are you (Edgefield Daily.com) so down on Fox Creek (High School)? Editor's note: We are not "down" on anyone. It seems that those involved in the news reported out of Fox Creek are a bit "hyper sensitive" to issues involving the school. We have never received complaints to equally revealing stories on the local public school system. Quite the opposite. They act, we report. How is Edgefield Daily.com responsible for that? I just wanted you to know I read this every day. I really enjoy the sight. Merriwether residents AND Edgefield County Sheriff be aware - SABRINA PARKER IS BACK ON THE STREETS - OUT OF JAIL... Editor's note: Mrs. Parker was arrested and is now out on bond. She has not been found guilty of any crime in a court of law and is presumed innocent. The only reason we allowed this post to mention the name of an individual was our report on the arrest. I just found out about (Edgefield Daily.com) this week and have been going back through the archives. This is really a great resource for information. I had no idea this was even available. (Edgefield Daily.com) has been added as my homepage. Well done. Why haven't you updated the court page? It shows a date of two weeks ago. What gives? Editor's note: There have been problems with that particular page. Updates were not being received by our server and we have been working on the page for the last two weeks. Our attempts to upload a simple date change have not been successful. We are rebuilding a new page and location and will replace it on Monday with the latest updates. We apologize for the problem. I just wanted to thank you for (Edgefield Daily.com). I just found out about it last week and I think this is great. I read it everyday and get so much more than I do from the paper. I like the way things get covered and the information that gets reported. I like the fact you go beyond the story and connect the dots so I can see what is really going on. Thank you, I really mean that. Editor's note: Thank you. It is our readers that make this all possible. Please pass our location on to others. Our popularity has grown from personal referrals only. Why don't Frick and Frack move to Augusta, Ga. It appears one is investing heavily in downtown. Maybe they can get everything they want there. Editor's note: They would make a cute couple wouldn't they? I noticed you covered the football player at Thrumond that got arrested last Friday a day before the papers came out. Why haven't they reported on this? I heard ya'll got the story wrong and that was why. Editor's note: The story is correct, confirmed, and stands. Your source is obviously misinformed. I live in Merriwether and work in Augusta. Every day there is a huge traffic problem at Fox Creek high school on Martintown (Rd). Are they going to fix it? Aren't they supposed to have a turn lane for schools? Editor's note: Already this week there has been an accident at the school and the traffic problem continues twice a day. For some reason Fox Creek is not held to the same standards as other schools. Love teh site. Keep up the good work. I was SO glad to see the zoning got dropped. Is is (it?) gone for good? Editor's note: For the most part, yes. Citizens can approach the Planning Commission and ask that certain areas be considered for zoning but that is a slow process. Are you owned by the Edgefield Advertiser? I notice lately there is a lot relating to the paper and didn't know if the two were connected. Editor's note: No, Edgefield Daily.com is privately owned. We do, however, have a very good working relationship with the Advertiser. We do share photos from time to time and credit each other with those photos. The story on the history of the paper was just an "interest" piece. We also have a good relationship with a reporter for The Citizen News and feed him information. We cannot say the same for their management. I want a puppy but my dad says no. What can i do to change his mind? Editor's note: Wait until you know it is going to be raining very hard. Get your mom to take you to get the puppy and keep it in the garage until your dad gets home and it is raining. Then take the puppy out and put it at the back door. Go in and open the door and let the "wet puppy" inside. Ask dad to help you dry it off and if can you just keep it until tomorrow so you can find the owner. He'll love the puppy by bedtime. I get the biggest kick out of the ad run by the Citizen News every week on their back page saing, "put your business on the site with the traffic!" I always ask myself, are they talking about (Edgefield Daily.com)? Does anyone even go to their site just to be told to go buy a paper? Editor's note: We are not sure what their stats are but we seriously doubt if they are getting 20-25,000 hits a week. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Editor's note: And yet you participated. I read the editorial on hidden taxes and couldn't agree more. Just curious, with (Edgefield Daily.com's) position on terrorists and Islam, where do you stand on the recent Imans (sic) denouncement of acts of terrorism? Editor's note: We put as much faith in them as we do the Public Service Announcements of "Don't Do Drugs" by Keith Richards and the dozens of other rockers who do such PSA's while high on drugs. We would put more faith in an endorsement of a stain remover by former President Bill Clinton, an admitted perjurer. I see a lot of things from (Edgefield Daily.com) in the papers, but I don't see a lot of the other stuff in the papers on (Edgefield Daily.com). Editor's note: You cannot be all things to all people. Edgefield Daily.com is committed to bringing the most information of the real issues that confront Edgefield County, municipalities, and communities as fast as possible to the residents. Local government meetings, special interests, criminal and judicial events, and assorted articles and columns with more coming this fall which will require a page of just commentary, advice, and tips. As to covering what is already out in the papers; once it is "out there" it is old news. Edgefield Daily.com does not focus on old news. Edgefield Daily.com is responsible for breaking some of the most important stories in the county this year and we will continue to bring real issues to the people with our factual and complete coverage. At first I thought it was hard to navigate (the website) but then I realized it was that there was just so much information it just took some getting used to how things are laid out. There is so much more than just the website. I gave up searching for things on local government on Google and just go from your site. Thanks for all the work! I have a small farm and I keep losing livestock to dogs. I have chickens, a couple pigs, and quail. There are always dog prints around the pens and they dig under or around stuff I put down to keep them out. I have asked and done everything that associations and government agencies said I should do. Aint workin. You said ask anything, so I am asking. Is it coyotes, wild dogs, neighbor's dogs? They are all penned with burried fence underground three feet out at 8 inches and rebar. Editor's note: The only advice we can offer is a bright flood light and good aim. However, to actually answer your question we have passed it on to an expert. We will post his answer as soon as it is recieved. Really enjoy reading the site. I just wanted to tell you that you have a wonderful website here. I work for the Saluda County Sheriff's Office and also for the Johnston Fire Dept. Before I found this site I did not know so much went on in the county. Editor's note: That is why we are here. I got a real kick out of the boyfriend story. What a hoot! As a worker for CMC I want to thank you for getting the number of workers right. The Citizen News and the Augusta Chrincile (Chronicle) got the numbers wrong. Thank you for doing your homework. This is a big loss for us. Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com posted our contacts in our story a full week in advance of any other local report. The Edgefield Advertiser also reports the same numbers. Thanks for showing what our deputies do day in and day out. Where's the beef? Editor's note: We care little about the beef; it is the pork we concentrate on. I love the insider and (Wandering Minds). I am so glad to see things being said that don't get said.. This is great. First place I go every day. Really enjoy the alerts, wish there were more. I liked the old style best. Editor's note: We try to offer special updates to ALERTS! subscribers. In the past, a special page was subverted by passing the page on to others. For that reason the specials have been limited to e-mail updates only. Ya'll have brought a whole different view of Edgefield County that has nver been made available before. This is the first place I go everyday to find out what is going on. Thank you! The best part is I don't have to pay for it! Love your site and check each day. But in the following from your editorial, shouldn't June be Dec?????? Now, every war we fight is wrong before we fight it, even when we are attacked first. Imagine if the media of today were to cover Pearl Harbor that mild June morning. America would be cast as deserving of the attack because of blockades of fuel shipments to Japan much like the New York Times says “Western Culture” is responsible for the terrorists’ attacks we and our allies suffer. Editor's note: Ooops. We changed the reference from D-Day and loss of life to Pearl Harbor and never changed the month. We love our astute readers. It has been corrected. Your webpage seem to be awful down on Fox Creek High School. Why? Editor's note: It happens, we report. We do not make the events happen, we just pass them on. I loved the column on Mr. Asbill. I would really like to see more of a humorous column to read in the future. Editor's note: We have recieved many e-mails requesting just that. It is under consideration. However, we have posted one for Wednesday. Enjoy! How does (Edgefield Town Councilman) Ken Durham get to suggest progets (projects) that he gets to do on the town council? Editor's note: Good question. The same could be asked of how he did the same while on the Edgefield County Planning Commission. Great site. Thank you! Why does WAyne Admas appear so much on the website? Editor's note: Administrator Wayne Adams is a public official. We cover the actions of the local governments as a duty. Edgefield Daily.com was responsible for breaking the story of the attempt to secretly zone the entire county by Adams. They act, we observe and report, you can derive what you may from any content on the website. From what I read on the web (site) the (Edgefield Sheriff's Department) seem to stay busy pretty much all the time. Just wanted to say I appreciate them. Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com covers less than 2% of the actions of the local law enforcement agencies. I reallyu like the site. I get so much more of the everyday (events) that don't show up in the paper. Thanks. I read that (Edgefield Daily.com) has over 6000 readers. Is that in the county? Editor's note: No. Over 600 of our individual readers are from outside the country. Some are residents working overseas or are in the military. Others outside the area also visit our website. We estimate that over 5000 county residents log onto Edgefield Daily.com on a weekly basis by the URL's and ISP's registered. This number has doubled each month since March. The numbers are still gowing and we expect them to level off at some point. Do you print everything sent in? Editor's note: No. There are some things which appear to be "coded" messages and we do not post those. There are others who are so vile we delete them upon reading them. There is another who sends repeated posting who has been banned from the site. (They keep sending them anyway) I moved away 15 years ago and was told about this site last month. Now I remember why I moved away. Great job, please keep it up. I love being able to keep up on the web. Thanks for the article on the trucks in Merriwether Where are we at in the zoing (zoning)? Editor's note: The Edgefield County Council has deferred to the Planning Commission who refused to recommend the ordinances "as written". As it stands most councilmen have said they would go with the findings of the planning commission. In a world of "words" you can rest assured the term "as written" will mean a continued effort to push zoning in more areas. The INsider has an interesting take on this issue today. Are you going to list clues for the scavenger hunt pictures? Editor's note: Yes; they are all in public places in Edgefield County. I really enjoyed the Buck Asbill article, will there be more like that? Editor's note: Perhaps. It was an opportunity to promote the wisdom and humor of someone who has contributed so much to this county. We have asked the Editor of the Edgefield Advertiser if they would perhaps run Mr. Asbill's collumn online. Thanks for all you all do I just found your site last week from a frined. This is great. I really enjoy it. My dog is fat and lazy Editor's note: Be careful, many people say dogs take on the personality of their owners. I too wanted to thank you for reporting on the trucks that fly up and down Martintown (Road). I am so sick of these jerks. I am glad the man in the wreck wasn't hurt. But like you said, it was a miricle. I have heard so much about the book that was online, where can I get a copy of it? Is it for sale? From what I hear it was very interesting. Editor's note: The Book: The Puzzle, is currently in the process of being published. The sections of the manuscript we published online may be made available again in the near future. The publishing company and the writer are currently in discussions over using the actual names of parties involved in the book. Only a small portion of the book was posted on the website. This is great. It's like tv on the web. I cant tell you how many times I have seen something that I saw and wondered about only to see it explained on (Edgefield Daily.com) the next day. Awsome! Just wanted to tell you what a good job you did on the Ray Walker story. The citizens of Edgefield County are well advised to read the site daily. Thanks Just wanted to say thanks for the news online. I'm stationed in Germany and it is great to get to keep up with whats going on in my hometown that I lived in my whole life until joining the Army. Editor's note: We are proud to be able to provide the free service to our local members of the military. They all have our continued prayers for a speedy and safe return in addition to victory. I was heartbroken to hear about CMC closing. I never saw it in the papers this week. Just another reason I read (Edgefield Daily.com) every day, I get the news first. Editor's note: We too were surprised the local papers had nothing about the closing in their coverage this week. We were even more surprised when we spoke with a Trenton Council member who said they were unaware of the closing as well. Sometimes we are so cutting edge on information we even scare ourselves. I enjoyed the "going global" article. I have family overseas and have passed the paper on to them and they say they love it too. Thank you! I read the school thing. ow Editor's note: The opinion, based on factual examples, is directed at the federal level. We have nothing but the greatest respect for the teachers and administrators of our local schools. The direction of education is controlled at the federal and state level, not the local level where it belongs. We firmly believe the federal government should have absolutely no role in the education of our children. I feel so bad for the (Marion) Key family. Have they found out anything yet? Editor's note: No, the search continues and to date the car nor Mr. Key have been located. The Edgefield County Sheriff's Department and the North Augusta Public Safety continue to seek leads. Edgefield Daily.com will post the latest information every two days on our main page until it is resolved. Thankyou for the article on the legal services for the senior citizens. We have called some lawyers for my mother's will and other estte things and it was going to cost us hundreds of dollars. We caled the number today and they are taking care of almost all of it. THANK YOU! I want to thank you for publishing the court records. I dont know why the papers dont do that but someone I know was arrested and it was in the paper. Thats all everyone remembers. I was glad to see (he/she) was found not guilty. Editor's note: It was for that reason we began running the page. Everyone arrested is innocent until proven guilty and we felt a duty to follow through with that belief. Why? Editor's note: Why not? With all the arrests I read about on here it sounds like we have a major drug problem, I blame the sheriff for that. Editor's note: Do you blame the Sheriff for the guy who shoots your dog? Or maybe the adult who molests a young child? Shall we blame him for the driver who was DUI hitting and killing a family? Individual personal choices result in individual personal responsibility. Arresting all of the above shows him fulfilling the duties of his office. Most drug activity is witnessed by the community first. They are the first line of defense in law enforcement. Shall we blame them too? enjoy the web site Are we safe? Editor's note: If you can leave the keys in your car and the doors to your home open and sleep at night you are safe. Or drunk. My sister emailed me your site and i love it. I grew up in Edgefield and moved away and get a local paper mailed to me to keep up with what is going on. It is so nice to get it every days than a week and a half late. Thank you so much for the chance to read it as it ahppens. You live up to your motto of "Edgefield County as it happens". With all that (Edgefield County Administrator) Wayne Adams does, why does he still have a job? Editor's note: There is no explanation. Editor's note: The following is a letter we recieved about the website from a reader in West Africa and was not a submission to Wandering Minds but we wanted to include it here. Edgefield Daily.com has readers from the area reading in many different countries while abroad due to jobs or military service. Well it’s about time the Edgefield media has joined the 21st century and gone electronic. Your coverage of the news definitely seems to be much more comprehensive than what is being presented by the print media. I am a resident of Edgefield County who works overseas. So it is nice to finally be able to keep up with the happenings of the County. Great job I read (Edgefield Daily.com) daily and gather that the zoning is a dead issue. How does that affect Mr. Cato and the chicken farm and what is going to be next? Are they (County Council) still going to try to zone the county? Editor's note: All indications from the council members, and we have spoken to all of them, are that the ordinances will be voted down. They are none to happy with the process that was used by Administrator Wayne Adams to try to zone the county in short order. However, the issue of zoning the county is not gone with the dismissal of the ordinances. The council will no doubt toss the issue to the planning commission to "study" and some zoning of the county could result from thier findings. I really like the insider collumn and see that most of it comes true. Who is the insider? Editor's note: The INsider is not a single person. YOU STUPID (DELETED DELETED) (HIND QUARTER OF A MULE) I HOPE THEY TAKE YOUR SITE OFF THE WEB!!!!!! Editor's note: This is the same individual who sends similar comments to Wandering Minds every week or so. This is the last that we will post from them. Due to the extreme content of the mailings we have recorded the users URL and ISP, or the very location the e-mail is sent from. Right down to the individual computer user. Government workers really should spend more time tending to their jobs than sending such vile e-mail at work from off-site email services. We know who you are. :) Was the man that was found dead the man that has been nmissing? (sic) Editor's note: No, Mr. Marion Key is still missing and the search for him continues. I was at the meeting tonight and i have to say your website has done more to hold the county's (council) feet to the fire. I believe had your site not exposed what was going on the county would have been zoned without a word from anyone. None of the local papers took the time to dig deep into what was going on and would have never caught on. Thank you. I have to say I am impressed. I wanted to thank you for the coverage your site has been giving to the story on Mr. Key. I have followed it on (Edgefield Daily.com) because of the amount of information and the updates provided. Thank you so much. Signed, a family friend Editor's note: We have worked very close with the family and will place a new update every other day until Mr. Key has been found. Thank you for all you do! I saw a flyer and checked it out. I really enjoy the daily coverage of the in's and out's of the county. i will be back. I hope they find Mr. Key. Our prayers are with the family Editor's note: Our's too. Enjoy the service. Thanks bvite me jackass Editor's note: We believe they meant "bite me jackass." If someone would provide a reason or an example to support their tirades we may be able to comment further. Do I have to enter now to get in the scavenger hunt? Editor's note: No, the contest is an ongoing contest where readers, both old and new, can review the photos. No one has to enter until the contest ends. I missed some of the book that was on the (website), are you going to put it back up? Editor's note: The rights to the book have been sold and under the agreement the book had to be removed. However, we are trying to get permission to repost the chapters already posted. So far that looks promising. BOO! Editor's note: Boo got shot! (MP3 file) this is a cool site, but what about us (teens)? not much here other than seeing who we know got arrested. Editor's note: We have the Student News section which will be written by students in the upcoming school year. We are also talking with a young adult regarding a weekly column on events and happenings of interest to our local youth. As always, Edgefield Daily.com will post information we are provided with. You may submit letters, articles, or pass on information by emailing editor@edgefielddaily.com When are the video links going to be used? Editor's note: When events warrant. Due to a majority of our readers being on dial-up connections we would prefer to use such for stories that only vidoe will explain the story or those that are very important. I love the wite (site? sic) and passed it on to everyone I know. Hope that helps. Editor's note: Thank you. Our site grows by word of mouth and we encourage readers to do the same as you. I wrote an e-mail yesterday and have not got an answer so I'll try this. Some people tell me the whole county is already zoned so it doesn't matter what they do. Is that right? Editor's note: We are getting so much e-mail on the subject that over the weekend we began to answer all questions (so many are the same questions from different people) and will post them, hopefully, by Wednesday rather than answer each individually. To your question: In a sense the entire county is under the current land use ordinance zoned or not zoned. However, the property in the "Unzoned" areas are not restricted by any other controls that are used in the zoned areas. That property is covered under the seven ordinances that were already in place when zoning passed in 1999-2000. Under the new ordinances the property would fall under the total control of the county as for allowed uses. All the guff without the fluff. I love it. Most of what I read that I care about I read here. Enjoy the alerts. Great way to keep up. Thanks Gald you got the county to lift the block. Thanks, great site A friend emailed me your site. Now I'm here every day. This is really great. Thank you If a woodchuck could chuck wood, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck? Editor's note: Please. Just found your site, I LOVE IT! I want to thank you for exposing what the county was trying to do. Had it not been for your website I would have never known what was going on and gone to the meeting to see for myself. None of the local papers took the time to tell us what (the county council) were doing. I believe that if it were not for your website they would have passed this and never said a word to anyone. Re: County Zoning Entire County and not telling anyone You know, I found your site from a (web) forum on Augusta politics. As I began to read over the last few weeks it made me feel good to live in Augusta. The home of the ten get-nothing-done clowns we have. From what I have read in the Augusta Chronicle over the years about Edgefield County, your site and the local ones you link to, I'll take the clowns over the outright dishonest anyday! What happened to the dining link? We enjoyed it. Are you going to bring it back? Editor's Note: The dining link is up and working (Top left hand side on Sections list). The FREE PICTURE AD we place on the right side of the main page for the dining location has just not been updated and the June ad removed. We only place those for 30 days but all are archived on the Dining section. The July 4th weekend delayed many updates, this being one. Editing of the submitted review should be completed by the July 6, 2005 update. Edgefield Daily.com does not solicit advertising in return for the ads nor will we. One onwer discovered our team and offered to pay for ad space. The review was never published and we refused the ad. This also contributed to the delay. It was our opinion doing either would seem inappropriate and compromise the integrity of the column in a later review. I like the scavenger hunt. I knew what the first one was as soon as I saw it. Editor's note: Thank you for participating. gee, if someone gets the truth out the county doesn't want people to know. that's pretty sad. sounds like the county knew yall knew about the zoning. Re:County reportedly bans Edgefield Daily.com from county computers I'll tell you what I think abiout this (edit). If they think they are going to zone me because of some (edited) chicken farm in trenton they got another thing coming How did Joel Hudson vote on this? I can't believe they think they can just try to slip this one under the radar. Editor's note: District Five (Merriwether) Councilman Joel Hudson voted to approve the first reading. Our initial information is that he was not made aware of the full implications of the ordinance. Either way, that looks bad on anyone who will change their vote when the people do the work of informing council members of their job and the information they are voting on. Who the (edited) do these people (County Council) think they are. You can bet your sweet (rear end) I will be at the meeting about this. You can print that on your websight. Thanks for the story on the new restaurant in Johnston. We're going to check it out. Editor's note: We believe in and support our county and will always feature any new businesses we are made aware of opening. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Editor's note: Thank you! This reader's comment, when edited for decency, was incomprehensible so suffice it to say it was not a praise of the site. In the future we may begin to print the actual content of such letters. If you don't want it posted, don't sent it. Let us call this fair warning. Sometimes what one says gives away more than they think. I really enjoy it, thanks hello beautiful, where have you been all my life Editor's note: We're not sure what this means but, you send it, we'll post it. I saw one of your flyers and checked out the web page and was so surprised at what I found. Count us in as regular readers. Sence finding your web site I have been very pleased with your lack of fear as to going aginst the "Good old Boy" network here in Edgefield. Granted there are times it works, but only if you are one of the "Good old Boys". What prompts me to write is your statement that you will attempt to keep your 56K modem users happy. I use very high speed broad band but see often how so many slower users are kept out of web sites due only to the fault of the Telco or cable providers not being able to service their homes. I also have a suggestion for your website. You currently use the mailto: http tag so users can respond. Often now people use web based e-mail and their local PC's will not respond correctly to that link if no mail client is installed (such as outlook). I would suggest instead using the FORMS tag so they can enter their comment directly to your web site. Thank you once again for your fearless efforts to keep the people aware of what is going on. Editor's note: We will always seek to provide our services to those on dial-up connections first. As to comments being posted online by readers we provide the Public Forums where readers may post their comments freely without editorial review or comment. I'm afraid Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill) is right. Being forced to listen to rap music is nothing short of torture. A torture I myself am subjected to whenever I pull into one of the local convenient stores. However, I'm sure that both SCE&G and Aiken Electric would argue that being forced to sit in either a hot or cold room is not torture, just the consequences of not paying your electric bill. I'll bet if you asked Senator John McCain (R-Az), who spent many years as a POW in Vietnam, if he'd rather be beaten and deprived of food and medical attention in a Vietnamese POW camp, or be forced to listen to rap music in a cold room at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo), he'd choose Gitmo without thinking. The liberals are trying to re-define torture to mean "uncomfortable", the enemy combatants at Gitmo are "uncomfortable" ( I wonder how comfortable all those hostages who were beheaded in Iraq were). If thats the case, then I spend 90% of my day being tortured. And so what if the Gitmo guards are desecrating the koran; how many Bibles burned up with the World Trade Centers? Does anybody know? If the liberals are looking for sympathy for America's enemies, they've come to the wrong place ( try France). The lengths they (liberals) will go to discredit the Bush administration is repulsive. Also, the detainees' at Gitmo are not POWS'- they are terrorists. They are NOT protected by the Geneva Convention! I encourage everyone to write or call their state's Senators' and House Representatives' and tell them to leave Gitmo alone and censor Sen.Durbin! If it's possible, could you post the contact information for South Carolina's Representatives in Congress? Editor's Note: Legislative members Answer any question? OK, why is the sky blue? Editor's Note: A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight. The white light from the sun is a mixture of all colours of the rainbow. This was demonstrated by Isaac Newton, who used a prism to separate the different colours and so form a spectrum. The colours of light are distinguished by their different wavelengths. The visible part of the spectrum ranges from red light with a wavelength of about 720 nm, to violet with a wavelength of about 380 nm, with orange, yellow, green, blue and indigo between. The three different types of colour receptors in the retina of the human eye respond most strongly to red, green and blue wavelengths, giving us our colour vision. I love it!!!!! I have passed the site on to all my friends. Please don't change or stop! Editor's Note: Thank you. It is due to your type of excitment that has raised us from 12,000 pages viewed a month to over 25,000 in the last 30 days and still growing. I miss home and a friend sent me the link to your site. Makes me feel like I'm there. Editor's Note: The individual is serving our counry overseas. Our support and prayers are with all who so serve. Happen today read it tomorrow. Great idea. Thanks for the site. I love this, not having to wait on the paper to know what is going on. I get more of what I find interesting here than I do reading both papers! I am a former resident of Edgefield County. It is so nice to read what is happening and "not happening" A lot of things go on everywhere, but Edgefield is something else. Hopefully you can bring it into the 19th century and maybe someday into the 21 century. Congratulations. got a little bone to pick with your site. why do you give the fire in Merriwether a story but the Johnston brush fine just a blurb on the page? got something against Johnston? Editor's Note: No, we were close to the Merriwether call when it went out and were able to obtain more information. Calls for information placed to Police Chief Easler were not returned so we can only report on the information we are provided courtesy of other agencies. Johnston firemen had returned to the station before we could reach the scene. I read the article on the county budget and some before and you never reported on the results of the Sheriff's Department. Did they get more deputies? Editor's Note: The budget passed at the June regular meeting of council. As far as the Sheriff's budget goes, he was granted the additional 5 jailers. In the budget it was provided for an oportunity to add an additional 2 deputies. That was a good thing and the Sheriff is happy, but Edgefield County allowed the law enforcement to lag behind under the previous sheriff. Even with the many additional deputies added in the last 5 years we are still behind some 10 years in funding and personnel for our Sheriff's Department. It will take years just to catch up. You just can't place that type of a tax burden on the people all at once. To properly cover the county, we would have to have an additional 6 deputies over what is provided for in this year's budget. Keeping in mind that only provides and additional 2 or 3 deputies per shift. this is so cool A friend of mine e-mailed me a story link to your site today. WOW!!! I had no idea this was here! This is great! You need to advertise so people know about this. Editor's Note: At present we are not advertising because we are going to be going through an upgrade period next week which will stop us from uploading any updates for several days. We hope to do a majority of the work over the weekend which will help, but it could take until Thursday or Friday (June 23, 24) to complete the upgrades. After that time we will do more to promote the site. Just found your website and really enjoy it . thanks I was introduced to your site today and I am very impressed. I've lived in this county for over 25 years and until today, after reading some of your articles, I never had any sense of the political atmosphere here. I can see its just as vicious here as anywhere. Your site is a refreshing change from the "warm and fuzzy" news dished out by the local papers who don't seem to have the nerve to tell it straight for fear of offending important and powerful friends. Those very few who have posted negative comments about your page are obviously used to getting their news from CNN whose reporting have leaned far left for so long that when viewers are exposed to balanced and fair news they reason that it must be skewed. My advice to them is to go back up north. Editor's Note: The county's biggest problems emanate from within. One question, how do you make money to pay for all this? Editor's Note: Edgefield Daily.com has only been online since March. Presently we are completely privately funded. I like it. I really like it. I start my day here to see what went on. Thanks thanks for such a good article about honest employees. it is a joy to read something positive once in awhile. i really enjoy the website. i know it is hard work but it is so nice to read about local stuff going on and it is a joy for me to work with such a employee as vicki, she is a special person. Editor's Note: The writer is an employee at Sportsman's Corner "I'll definately check it out. I think that (Edgefield Daily.com) is a great service to the area." SC Gov. Mark Sanford on Edgefield Daily.com You people are biased and you make everything sound the way you want it to sound just so you can sell papers and that isn't right and you should think about that before you do this to people!!! Editor's note: No story was referenced, however Edgefield Daily.com reports the events as they happen. Parties listed or identified are in the public realm. We do not slant stories, rather give the fullest amount of information to allow the public to draw their own conclusions. Also, Edgefield Daily.com does not publish a "paper" nor do we charge for any of our services. I like it, straight from the hip. Nobody does it like ya'll do! I just found your site this week, I had no idea this was here. I couldn't believe all the stuff here for free. Just wanted to say thanks. Editor's note: Edgefield Daily.com does not believe the people of this county should pay for coverage of what is going on in our county. Information is free and we are pleased to be able to provide that service. I had no idea people from Edgefield county fought in the revolutionary war. I thought the graves were interesting. Editor's note: regarding Remember on Memorial Day Thank you for your articles on Memorial Day. I knew some of the people quoted and it meant more because of that. Thanks Great coverage! Aaron's (Ingle) was absolutely the best speech I have ever heard. I can't wait to get the text!! Thanks for the great photos! Editor's note: the text of the speech and the photos Just read the article titled "Stranded Boaters Rescued" posted May 25. I thank you for mentioning this story as I heard nothing from other media sources. Editor's note:You will, but with no credit to Edgefield Daily.com Stranded Boaters Rescued A follow up is coming Monday May 30 great site, up to date and to the point. (deleted) jerks Editor's note: Thank you for visiting, come back often. Love the Alerts, quicker news than tv. Enjoy the web page. thanks GREAT STUFF! first place I go when I get on the web! I'm glad to see Edgefield County move into the 21st century. GREAT JOB! tc I have to say at first I was skeptical that a web page could produce so much pertinent information on a regular basis. I must say I have been impressed at the depth of many of the stories and information gathered. I have become a regular reader and show people at work the stories. Job well done. e@work Editor's Note: Thank you, please pass our location on to others! I ran into someone who works for one of the local papers and asked them if they had seen this site. They said yes. I asked what they thought about getting news for free and they said it was worth what you charge. I disagree, but thought you'd be interested to know they are reading! Editors Note: Thank you for your comments. We're sure the local papers are worth every penny they charge for week old news. and all for less than $500 worth of stuff!!!! ghants (reference story Deputy Arrested) Editors note: In reality, all this allegedly for less than $5 worth of stuff. The statue as written does not differ from $.05 and $500.00. UPDATE: He plead guilty I read a while back that the administrator was in deep doo, then he was given a new contract and a raise! Later I read he lost his raise. What gives? Confused in Edgefield Dear Confused, It's easy to understand why you are so confused. The administrator, Wayne Adams, was indeed in a pot of boiling water. Somehow the majority of council, who had said they would not renew his contract, backpedalled and gave him his new contract with the raise. Adams submitted the proposal and a clueless council that didn't take the time to read it voted to approve the deal. Why is anyone's guess. Once the uproar over the raise, when most all county employees didn't recieve a raise, came to light council removed the $5000.00 raise but left the contract in force. Like the site. Carter Read your website today. It looks good. Keep up the good work. al I thoroughly enjoy reading these articles. They are accurate and concise. Hope things go well for this site. Keep it up! jm This is impressive and well done. Thanks for all your work. jg Return to
