 One seriously injured in weekend crash  web posted October
16, 2006WESTSIDE – Just after 5 pm Saturday Garrett Road residents began calling 911 to report a car crash. Westside and Merriwether First Responders and an ambulance rushed to the scene. A Turkey Creek Road man was traveling east on Garrett Road when he lost control of his Toyota Camry and crashed through several trees while flipping the car. The man was unconscious when the first rescuers arrived. The Westside man was the only occupant in the car and was unrestrained at the time of the crash. Skid marks indicated the man was traveling east on Garrett Road when he left the right side of the road and overcorrected sending the car off the westbound side of the road before striking at least three pine trees, snapping two of them down. When the car came to rest right side up the driver was found in the passenger seat with head, neck, back, and ankle injuries.  Rescuers quickly
extricated the man from the car and immobilized him
and rushed him to the MCG Trauma Unit is Augusta, Ga. within minutes of
arriving due to the seriousness of the injuries. One of the rescuers
went to the man’s home, located less than a mile away from the crash
site, to inform his wife of the crash. It took more than two hours for
the Highway Patrol and Deputies to
clear the crash site.For
