Tech Tips: Windows Download - Move programs around on your Windows Taskbar

By James Wise
web posted March 2, 2009
COLUMN – Do you ever want to re-order the items on your taskbar? I like Outlook to be the first program on my taskbar when I’m running a lot of other programs. If I mess up and close Outlook or something and have 20 other programs running, that means I have to close everything else down. That’s not worth it! Luckily, there’s a solution.

Taskbar Shuffle (http://nerdcave.webs.com/taskbarshuffle.htm) runs in the background in your systray (the area next to the clock on the taskbar) and lets you simply drag programs on your taskbar to rearrange them. Checkout a quick video of it in action at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbLF5DDK_-0. It’s a great free program in my opinion and I thought I’d mention it in case anyone else is as obsessed about this sort of thing as I am.

Do you have a tech question you would like answered or a program you would like to recommend? Email me at edgefieldtechhelp@gmail.com. For computer questions, please include your operating system version (e.g. Windows Vista) and sorry, but I don’t do Macs.
