Arrest Made in Stabbing at Moores Drive Home

web posted August 2, 2014

WESTSIDE The man accused of a stabbing Wednesday evening has been taken into custody. William Warren Sr., 56, of the 200 block of Moores Drive, has been booked on a single count of assault and battery in the second degree and is currently still being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center as of Friday. Bond has been set at $2,500, however, Warren remains in custody at this time.

According to an incident report released Friday, William Warren Sr. had returned from being in court that day, July 30, where he was found guilty at a bench trial for assault and battery in the third degree from an incident on July 14. Later that day Warren became intoxicated and decided to take his wife's car out for a drive only to have his son argue that due to just returning from court, and being intoxicated, he was in no condition to drive.

The argument escalated to the point that the elder Warren obtained a paring knife with a 4 to 5 inch blade and began attacking his son. The son was stabbed twice, although only once did the knife make penetration. As the situation deteriorated Warren went back inside the house to retrieve a second, and much larger, knife and tried to continue the attack but was fended off with a baseball bat, the incident report states.

Warren left the scene and was unable to be located the night of the incident. The son suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to the side of his upper torso about five inches below his armpit. EMS was called to the scene but did not transport the son.

This is Warren's third arrest this month on top of other arrests and convictions for assaults and criminal domestic violence. He is currently out on bail from a criminal domestic violence 2nd offense arrest on July 8. On the day of the stabbing, he had been found guilty of assault and battery in the third degree from a July 14 arrest. According to online court records he was sentenced to 15 days in jail.
