Burglary, Grand Larceny and Vandalism Reported at Sprouse Road Home

web posted October 25, 2012

WESTSIDE – The owner of a Sprouse Road home called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call from a friend watching over the property while he is living in Tennessee stating that the home had been vandalized. Deputies arrived on the scene and found much more than vandalism.

Once deputies arrived on the scene of the home on the 200 block of Sprouse Road, it was obvious a broken window in a bathroom could have been the point of entry into the home. Once inside the home deputies noted that the inside of the home had been vandalized.

Shower doors were shattered, mirrors broken, a chair thrown into a sheetrock wall, and it was later discovered the HVAC unit behind the house had been stolen.

The last time the neighbor checked on the home was about 10 days prior and everything was found to be in order.

The damage to the house was estimated at $2,000 and the stolen HVAC unit was placed at $3,500.

The scene was photographed and all evidence was turned over to the Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.

Possible charges in the case range from burglary, malicious injury to person property and grand larceny.

No suspects were listed in incident reports released on Wednesday.
