Utility Trailer, Golf Cart Thefts Just Miles Apart

web posted December 10, 2013

WESTSIDE Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies were called to two thefts within an hour of each other and both took place during the same time period. The first was the theft of a camouflaged golf cart with oversized tires on Morgan Road and the second the theft of a 6 x 12 utility trailer less than 4 miles away.

The 6 x 12 utility trailer was reported stolen from the 2400 block of Highway 23 west. It was said to be green in color with a wooden floor with a burn mark in the middle of the bed. The owner stated he last saw the trailer around 11 pm Thursday night and discovered it missing around 11 am Friday morning.

No serial number was available.

Within the hour, a second theft came in of a stolen 1994 camouflaged E-Z-Go golf cart with over-sized tires and a custom built "workbody" on the rear. There was a "sag" in the top of the golf cart, according to the report. The owner was unable to provide a serial number at the time of the report.

The owner stated he last saw the golf cart between 11 pm and midnight and noticed it missing at 11 am Friday and notified the Sheriff's Office.

Both cases have been forwarded to the Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation. It is unknown if the cases are related.
